  • Top F.B.I. Agent in New York Vows to ‘Dig In’ After Removals at Agency

The top agent at the F.B.I.’s New York field office vowed in a defiant email to his staff to “dig in” after the Trump administration targeted officials involved in the investigations into the Jan. 6 attack — and praised the bureau’s interim leaders for defending its independence.

“Today, we find ourselves in the middle of a battle of our own, as good people are being walked out of the F.B.I. and others are being targeted because they did their jobs in accordance with the law and F.B.I. policy,” wrote James E. Dennehy, a veteran and highly respected agent who has run the largest and arguably the most important field office in the bureau since September.

Mr. Dennehy, through a representative in New York, declined to comment.

The email, viewed by The New York Times, came after the Justice Department ordered the F.B.I. on Friday to collect the names of bureau personnel who helped investigate the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, raising the possibility that Mr. Trump’s political appointees plan to purge career bureau officials, including rank-and-file field agents. That number could reach 6,000 — or about a sixth of the bureau’s 38,000 employees, according to the F.B.I.

At least nine high-ranking officials have been forced out since Mr. Trump’s inauguration, plunging the bureau into confusion. Mr. Dennehy wrote that those removals had spread “fear and angst within the F.B.I. ranks.”

That sense of dread was stoked by a remarkable questionnaire sent to bureau employees, asking them to describe what, if any, role they had in investigating and prosecuting Jan. 6 rioters.

The form requires the employees to say if they collected evidence, provided support services, interviewed witnesses, executed search warrants or testified at trial — basic activities of F.B.I. employees during the normal and lawful course of their duties. They have until 3 p.m. Monday to complete the forms.

Robert C. Kissane, the acting deputy director, sought to allay concerns that F.B.I. employees would be punished for doing their jobs as he tried to answer questions about the list that the Justice Department was gathering.

“We do not view anyone’s identification on the list as an indicator of any misconduct,” he wrote in a lengthy message to staff members, adding that “we are still working with D.O.J. to better understand the purpose for which the list is being sought.”

Mr. Kissane said the F.B.I. had conducted about 2,400 investigations related to the attack on the Capitol and circulated the questionnaire based on the names of everyone connected to those cases. He said that those who received the questionnaire were not required to fill it out, but that management was obligated to do so.

Mr. Dennehy, in his email, urged his employees to remain calm and not to make any rushed decisions about their careers as he committed to providing assistance to them no matter what happened. He also suggested he had no intention of stepping down.

“Time for me to dig in,” he wrote.

In an extraordinary gesture, Mr. Dennehy, a former Marine, praised the two top acting officials at the F.B.I., Brian Driscoll and Mr. Kissane, for “fighting” for the bureau’s employees. Both resisted efforts to immediately oust career employees, and they pushed for a formal review process to delay or mitigate the disruption, according to people familiar with the situation.

“They are warriors,” he said of those who pushed back on broad dismissals of F.B.I. personnel across the bureau, according to people directly familiar with the matter.

Such is the uncertainty at the F.B.I. that some bureau leaders have felt compelled to email colleagues to say they have not been removed.

“I know a lot of you have seen or heard reports that F.B.I. executives have been asked to resign or be fired,” the top agent in Seattle wrote on Friday in a message viewed by The Times. “To clarify my own status, as of this writing I have not been fired or asked to resign, nor have I received any indication I might be.”

On Saturday, the F.B.I. issued an unusual statement reassuring the work force that Mr. Driscoll was still the acting director. And Mr. Dennehy, in his email, also pushed back on rumors that anyone had been removed outside the small group of officials already known to have been ousted.

Mr. Dennehy’s office has roughly 1,100 agents and about 500 task officers, who are police investigators and law enforcement officers from other federal agencies assigned to work with the F.B.I. The number of agents in New York at times makes up as much as 10 percent of the agent population nationwide. There are also about 1,000 civilian employees, including analysts, technicians and other support staff.

One executive whose job appeared to be in peril, Spencer Evans, the top agent in Las Vegas, informed his staff on Thursday that he would be dismissed “from the rolls of the F.B.I.” as soon as Monday morning.

“I was given no rationale for this decision, which, as you might imagine, has come as a shock,” he wrote in an email viewed by The Times.

Another was the head of the New Orleans field office, who was asked to return to headquarters after his name surfaced as someone the administration might want to remove, according to current and former F.B.I. officials.

That agent was on vacation when a terrorist drove through a crowd on New Year’s Day and drew criticism for being away during Mardi Gras. On Jan. 6, 2021, he was also a top supervisor in the Washington field office and helped to direct the bureau’s response to the attack on the Capitol.

The Society of Former Special Agents of the F.B.I., which represents thousands of retirees, called the forced resignations “illegal actions” that violated civil service laws and the due process rights of employees. The Justice Department has not accused any of those targeted with improper conduct, and has based most of the personnel actions on the president’s discretion under the Constitution.

In his message to employees, Mr. Dennehy described those who had left as “extraordinary individuals,” saying, “I mourn the forced retirements.”

Mr. Dennehy likened the current situation to his days as a Marine in the early 1990s, when he dug a small foxhole five feet deep and hunkered down for safety.

“It sucked,” he wrote. “But it worked.”

The recent removals at the F.B.I. have caused quite a stir, but the top agent in New York is not backing down. In a statement released today, the agent vowed to “dig in” and continue the fight against corruption and injustice.

Despite the setbacks, the agent remains steadfast in their dedication to upholding the law and protecting the American people. With a track record of successful investigations and a reputation for being a tough and relentless agent, there is no doubt that they will continue to do whatever it takes to bring criminals to justice.

In the face of adversity, the top F.B.I. agent in New York is ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work. With their determination and unwavering commitment to serving the public, there is no doubt that they will continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the fight against crime.

  • Dhruv Rathee takes dig at PM Modi’s podcast, predicts what Lex Fridman will ask: ‘Main ek gareeb…’

YouTuber Dhruv Rathee has reacted to American podcaster Lex Fridman’s announcement that he will interview Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Fridman announced on Saturday that he would conduct the interview of PM Modi by the end of February.

Taking a dig at PM Modi, Dhruv Rathee, the social media influencer, shared a “leaked script” of the podcast, presumably based on his previous interviews.

Dhruv Rathee predicted that Lex Fridman’s podcast with PM Modi will reference PM Modi’s weak financial background during his early days and criticism from his opponents.

Rathee predicted that Fridman would mention Modi being a “tea seller.” Reacting to Fridman’s query, PM Modi would say, “Main ek gareeb ghar, main bechara, meri ma bachpan mein…,” as per Rathee’s sarcastic post on X.

Dhruv Rathee’s post has garnered nearly 1 million views and hundreds of comments.

Lex Fridman to interview PM Modi

Lex Fridman is one of the most popular podcasters in America. In one of his posts on X, Fridman announced that he would interview PM Narendra Modi at the end of February 2025.

“I will be doing a podcast with Narendra Modi (@narendramodi), Prime Minister of India, at the end of February. I’ve never been to India, so I’m excited to finally visit and experience many facets of its vibrant, historic culture and its amazing people as fully as I can,” read a post by Fridman on platform X.

Lex Fridman rose to fame with his Lex Fridman Podcast in 2018. He has a PhD as a Doctor in Philosophy and Computer Science from Drexel University in US.

He has also worked as a researcher with Google in California, where he focused on active authentication via machine learning research. Nearly three years before devoting himself completely to his podcast show, Fridman joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and started researching human-centred AI, focusing on autonomous vehicles, according to his LinkedIn profile.

In a recent video, popular YouTuber and activist Dhruv Rathee took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent podcast episode and humorously predicted what AI researcher and podcast host Lex Fridman might ask if he were to interview the Indian leader.

Rathee jokingly said, “I can already predict what Lex Fridman will ask PM Modi – ‘Main ek gareeb aadmi hoon, mujhe samajh nahi aata ki aap itne bade politician kaise bante hain?’ (I am a poor man, I don’t understand how you become such a big politician).”

The satirical comment highlights the perception of Modi’s humble beginnings as a tea seller and how he has risen to become the Prime Minister of India.

Rathee’s tongue-in-cheek take on the podcast episode adds a humorous touch to the ongoing political discourse and sheds light on the importance of questioning and holding leaders accountable.

  • Kevin Durant joins Commanders’ locker room after playoff win — and gets in a dig at Lions’ Jahmyr Gibbs

The Washington Commanders are moving on to the NFC championship game, and they’ve got one powerful NBA name in their corner — and their locker room. On Saturday, as the Commanders celebrated their 45-31 upset over the Detroit Lions, they had a special guest join the party: Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant.

Durant, who was born and raised in the D.C. area and is a longtime Washington fan, supported his favorite team through the upset. He also got in a few well-placed barbs toward Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs.

Commanders rookie cornerback Mike Sainristil — who had two key interceptions in the matchup — posted a video on his Instagram Story of Durant with the team postgame.

“Hey, what you gotta say though?” Sainristil asked Durant.

“Jahmyr, put your buffs on,” Durant said — a reference to the Cartier sunglasses. The taunt prompted laughs and “oohs” from the Commanders’ locker room.

Earlier in the matchup, Gibbs, who is known for his touchdown celebrations, had scored the first touchdown of the game and celebrated by mimicking a dance that Durant famously did pregame before the 2017 NBA Finals.

Durant did not take kindly to the tribute.

“I’m already sick of Jahmyr Gibbs. Move around somewhere bro damn,” Durant wrote in response to the video on X.

Gibbs ended with 14 rushes for 105 yards and two touchdowns, but the team overall fell short. Both teams put up a historic second quarter in the high-scoring game — and Washington came out on top in the end.

After the game, Durant left Detroit with one more jab: a video of the original dance with the caption: “Have a great night Detroit.”

The Commanders will now go on to the NFC championship game to play the Philadelphia Eagles. We’ll have to see if Durant makes another locker room appearance next weekend.

The Commanders’ locker room was buzzing with excitement after their playoff win, but it got even more electrifying when Kevin Durant walked in. The basketball superstar had shown up to support the team and celebrate their victory. However, Durant couldn’t resist taking a playful jab at Lions’ Jahmyr Gibbs, who had been talking smack leading up to the game. Durant joked, “Hey, Gibbs, maybe next time you’ll think twice before running your mouth. You can’t talk your way to a win, you gotta earn it on the court.” The Commanders erupted in laughter, grateful to have Durant on their side both on and off the court.

  • Chargers dig deep defensively; top Walsh 59-50 to run win streak to eight

Playing its fourth game in eight days, and coming off a thrilling but draining victory on the road at Northwood on Tuesday, the Hillsdale College women’s basketball team had to scrap and claw their way to victory against visiting Walsh on Thursday in a 59-50 contest.

The Chargers overcame one of their worst shooting nights of the season offensively, just 29.3% from the floor and 16.7% from 3-point range, with a stellar defensive effort, holding the Cavaliers to similarly rough percentages from the field and turning 20 Walsh turnovers into 21 points at the other end.

Hillsdale looked like they might run away with the game early, outscoring Walsh 19-5 in a dominant first quarter performance. But the Chargers went cold from the field in the second quarter, scoring just seven points and allowing the Cavaliers to claw their way back into the game at the half.

Walsh tied the game at 32 apiece on a 3-pointer with 5:53 left in the third quarter, but Hillsdale never let the Cavaliers pull ahead in the second half, stretching the lead back to 43-38 at the end of three quarters thanks to a 3-pointer by Annalise Pietrzyk and a tip in by Lauren McDonald on their final two possessions.

Hillsdale controlled the final quarter defensively, never letting Walsh get within one possession and shooting eight of 10 from the free throw line in the period to finish off Walsh and clinch the team’s eighth straight victory.

Free throws were a big separator in the game as the Chargers were able to draw fouls throughout the contest from an overly aggressive Walsh defense, allowing Hillsdale to rack up 22 crucial points at the free throw line. Senior Lauren McDonald led the way for Hillsdale with a 17 point, 11 rebound double-double and was 11 of 14 at the free throw line on her own. McDonald also chipped in four assists, three blocks and three steals in an all-around great performance.

Sophomore Annalise Pietrzyk also chipped in 10 points off the bench for the Chargers, Savannah Smith added nine points and five rebounds, Kendall McCormick finished with seven points and five rebounds, and Emma Ruhlman also had seven points and four rebounds as well.

Rebounding was another edge for the Chargers in the victory, as Hillsdale outrebounded Walsh 46-34, including 18 offensive rebounds, and turned that into 16 second-chance points.

Hillsdale remains among the G-MAC leaders at 11-5 overall and 8-1 in conference play with the win. The Chargers are now tied with Ashland for second place, a game back of G-MAC leader Malone.

Ashland is Hillsdale’s next opponent, as the Chargers get a whole week to prepare for a road trip to the Eagles next Thursday. Hillsdale will be aiming to snap a 12-game losing streak to nationally ranked Ashland that dates back to 2014, and move into sole possession of second place.

In a thrilling matchup, the Chargers showcased their defensive prowess as they dug deep to secure a hard-fought victory over Walsh with a final score of 59-50. This win marks their eighth consecutive victory, further solidifying their dominance in the league.

Throughout the game, the Chargers’ defense was relentless, forcing turnovers and creating scoring opportunities for their team. Their tenacity and teamwork on the defensive end proved to be the difference maker in this intense battle.

Offensively, the Chargers were led by standout performances from key players who stepped up when it mattered most. Their ability to execute under pressure and capitalize on scoring opportunities ultimately propelled them to victory.

With this win, the Chargers continue to build momentum and establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the league. Their determination and resilience on both ends of the court make them a formidable opponent for any team they face.

Congratulations to the Chargers on their impressive win and their continued success as they look to extend their winning streak even further. #ChargersBasketball #DefenseWinsGames #WinningStreak

  • Birmingham police execute search warrant, dig up yard in hunt for mother who vanished in 2014

A more than 10-year-search for a missing mother led investigators to a Birmingham home Thursday.

Kierra Stubbs was 23 when she disappeared on April 24, 2014.

A mother of two young children, she got into a vehicle with a man who had promised to help her with her car, and she hasn’t been seen or heard from since then.

On Thursday morning, Birmingham detectives carried out a search warrant at a residence in the 4600 block of Terrace S. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office also aided in the search, which included authorities digging in the home’s yard.

Both police and coroner’s officials said the search was unsuccessful.

“During the search, we did not find human remains,’’ Officer Truman Fitzgerald said in a Friday press release. “We cannot begin to imagine the challenges and anguish that Kierra’s family has faced over the past 10-plus years.”

Fitzgerald’s release followed widespread speculation on social media that Stubbs’ remains had been found.

From 2014 to 2019, the case was handled by the Special Victims Unit and homicide Det. Rodney Rogers, who has since retired.

Since 2019, Det. Jonathan Ross has taken over, and he is actively working on Stubbs’ case.

“Det. Ross is committed to taking whatever measures are necessary to solve this case,’’ Fitzgerald said.

On that 2014 day, the Birmingham mother, along with her one of her brothers and her son, dropped her younger sister and another brother off at school.

They then headed to the city’s Five Points West where she was meeting with a man at Boost Mobile to help her with her car. Surveillance video showed her getting into a burgundy 2012 Chrysler 200.

Her aunt, Shonte Stubbs, told AL.com in 2018 that the man was going to give Kierra Stubbs money to help get her brakes fixed.

    Kierra Stubbs

Kierra Stubbs disappeared in April 2104. She has not been heard from since them.(AL.com)

She knew the man because she did his kids’ hair and had talked with him, and they had talked on the phone.

Once she met up with him, there was some kind of conversation and then her niece got into the Chrysler.

She was never heard from again.

Stubbs worked at restaurants and was close to her family.

“She was a sweet, funny, loving person,’’ her aunt previously said.

“She loved her family. She loved her kids. That’s all she wanted to do – work and spend time with her family.”

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Ross at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777. Crime Stoppers pays tipsters cash rewards of up to $5,000 for their tips.

In a recent development, Birmingham police have executed a search warrant and begun digging up a yard in their ongoing hunt for a mother who vanished without a trace in 2014.

The disappearance of this mother has remained a mystery for years, leaving her family and friends desperate for answers. The police have been tirelessly working on the case, following up on leads and pursuing any new information that may help crack the case.

The decision to execute a search warrant and dig up the yard is a significant development in the investigation, indicating that the police may have received new information or leads that have led them to this location.

The community is eagerly awaiting updates on the progress of the search and hoping for a breakthrough in the case that will bring closure to the family and justice for the missing mother.

As the investigation continues, the Birmingham police are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward and assist in bringing the missing mother home.

Ralf Schumacher aims fresh dig at Lewis Hamilton ahead of Ferrari move as he names the key difference between Briton and his superstar brother Michael

Ralf Schumacher – brother of Formula One legend Michael – has levied fresh criticism at Lewis Hamilton ahead of the seven-time world champion’s start at Ferrari this season.

Little over a year ago, the British driver shocked the racing world with news of his bombshell move to Ferrari in 2025.

The decision, inspired by Hamilton’s childhood passion for the Prancing Horse, called time on an incredible 12-year stint at Mercedes, where the driver had won the lion’s share of his world championships.

But ahead of the move, Hamilton had to endure an awkward season under long-term team principal Toto Wolff, against the backdrop of an imperfect car.

Although Hamilton claimed the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the veteran was also outperformed in qualifying by his younger partner George Russell at every grand prix in 2024.

Hamilton will arrive in Italy seeking a fresh start and a return to the top of the podium with the hope of making history with a sensational eighth world title.

But Schumacher was sceptical of the driver’s ability to outstrip the achievements of his decorated brother, as he pointed out an area where he believes Hamilton is more flawed than the talented German.

‘The biggest difference is that Michael, among many other qualities, was able to develop a car perfectly for his driving style together with the engineers,’ Schumacher told Sport1.de, via GB News. ‘Lewis can’t do that.’

Schumacher stressed that under Wolff, Hamilton had been focused on following the maxim of: ‘a driver should step on the gas and engineers should develop.’

But according to his brother, Michael’s more active role meant that he ‘always gave his confidants like Ross Brawn or Jean Todt the direction’.

Hamilton grew increasingly unhappy with his W15 as the season rolled on, his frustrations hitting fever pitch in Brazil in November.

The driver appeared to threaten to quit the season altogether after a ‘disaster of a weekend’ where the car had been ‘the worst it has even been’ in an incedeniary message broadcast over team radio.

Schumacher also questioned how Hamilton would adapt to losing out on top position at his new constructor when he joins established new team-mate Charles Leclerc.

‘That makes things even more difficult for Lewis: because Charles Leclerc is the top dog,’ he added.

‘Everyone in the team knows him. For Lewis, everything is new at Ferrari.

‘Michael came to Ferrari as the current world champion and was much younger. That’s not the case with Lewis.’

Schumacher doubled down on his comments in an interview with Sky Germany, offering a warning to his new constructor that things would have to be just right at Maranello for the Briton to succeed.

‘Hamilton is certainly exceptional, but also needs a bit of the perfect environment and car, just like Sebastian Vettel,’ Schumacher conceded.

The 39-year-old bade his final goodbye to Mercedes in mid-December with an emotional visit to their headquarters.

Hamilton made a speech thanking the employees for their support during his star-studded stint with the team, and remarking on the ‘journey’ they had come on together.

‘Anyone would be lucky to be working with you,’ Hamilton said. ‘I hope that when I do eventually stop racing, I can come back and visit you all, and I know we can always look back on these fond memories, what a journey.

‘There is no driver in the world that has had this experience with the team, and it makes it that much harder to let go. But I am taking with me the greatest memories. You guys have been living in my dream, and hopefully I have been living partly in your dreams too.

‘So a huge, huge thank you from the bottom of my heart and, also my family thanks you for all the dedication all these years, so a big thank you everyone and God Bless you.’

In a recent interview, former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher took a fresh dig at Lewis Hamilton ahead of his rumored move to Ferrari. Schumacher, who is the younger brother of F1 legend Michael Schumacher, pointed out a key difference between Hamilton and his brother that he believes sets them apart on the track.

While acknowledging Hamilton’s impressive skills as a driver, Schumacher emphasized that Michael’s ability to consistently push himself to the limit and extract every ounce of performance from his car was what truly set him apart. He suggested that Hamilton may not have the same level of determination and commitment to excellence that his brother possessed.

As Hamilton prepares to potentially make the switch to Ferrari, Schumacher’s comments serve as a reminder that he will be stepping into the shoes of one of the greatest drivers in F1 history. Only time will tell if Hamilton can live up to the legacy of the Schumacher name at the iconic Italian team.

  • You Have To Dig Down

    You Have To Dig Down

Director Francis Lawrence has opened up about the challenges of casting a young Haymitch Abernathy for the upcoming The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The longtime franchise director is returning to helm the highly anticipated prequel featuring the brutal second Quarter Quell, where twice as many tributes will battle in their district’s favor. The story, adapted from Suzanne Collins’ forthcoming novel, will explore the traumatic events of the 50th Hunger Games that shaped a young Haymitch Abernathy. The film adaptation of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set for a November 20, 2026 release.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Lawrence opens up about the casting process for Haymitch. The character was originally portrayed by Woody Harrelson, whose distinct charisma and multifaceted portrayal will be a unique challenge for a younger actor to replicate. Lawrence likenes the difficulty of finding someone who could capture the drunken victor’s complexity to the casting of a younger version of the sinister President Snow in the Hunger Games prequel Ballad of The Songbirds. Here’s what the director had to say:

Honestly, I think the best way to answer that question is to say, if you look at The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, we had to cast a young version of Donald Sutherland, right? It’s the same challenge. It’s different characteristics of Donald and Woody, very different people.

But you’re like, ‘How am I going to cast a young person who is believably going to become Donald Sutherland? Who’s going to have that sort of intelligence, sophistication, a little irreverence, gravitas, all of that. Who is going to embody and be believable in the fact that he’s going to turn into that guy and become the president of Panem? And it’s the same thing [with Haymitch].

It’s a search, and you have to dig down and figure out what are the elements that make Woody so interesting, right? And some of it is humor. Some of it is intelligence. Some of it is quirk. Some of it is, there’s a darkness in him that gives him an edge. There’s a mischievousness, right? So there’s all these aspects that make Woody so great, so appealing, so watchable, and such a great actor and so interesting.

And we’re going to have to find somebody that has all of that. It’s not somebody that just looks like him, or is going to study Woody Harrelson and just act like him. When Tom Blythe played Donald Sutherland, he wasn’t doing an impersonation. We had to find somebody that was believable, that you could be like, ‘Oh, okay, I see how this guy over 70 years could turn into Donald.’

What The Casting Of Haymitch Means

Finding His Heart, Not Just His Face

As Lawrence noted, casting a young Haymitch Abernathy isn’t just about finding someone who looks like a younger Woody Harrelson; it’s about finding an actor who can embody the layers of humor, intellect, and emotional darkness that make the character in both the film and novel so compelling. In Sunrise on the Reaping, audiences will see Haymitch during one of the bloodiest Hunger Games ever against 48 other tributes. He must navigate an arena designed to be both beautiful and deadly, where his survival requires cunning and unprecedented resilience.

10 Hunger Games Scenes That Are So Much Worse In The Books

The stories in The Hunger Games are naturally sad and gruesome, but the movies toned down some of the worst moments of Suzanne Collins’ books.

The 50th Hunger Games not only shaped Haymitch’s wit and cynicism but also inflicted deep emotional scars, leading to his struggles with alcoholism and his complicated role as a mentor to Katniss Everdeen 24 years later. Casting an actor who can convey these formative experiences is critical to maintaining the poignant weight and continuity of the franchise. By likening the task to casting Tom Blythe as Snow, Lawrence highlights the importance of finding someone who can naturally evolve into Haymitch while honoring Harrelson’s legacy.

Our Take On The Search For A Young Haymitch

    A Franchise-Defining Task

Haymitch, played by Woody Harrelson, is visibly angry and clenches his jaw at the news of the Quarter Quell.

Casting a young Haymitch Abernathy is arguably one of the most ambitious undertakings for the Hunger Games franchise yet. Harrelson’s portrayal of the character is iconic, and finding someone who can channel Haymitch’s humor, depth, and darkness is no small feat. But if the success of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is any indication, Lawrence and his team are more than capable of rising to the challenge.

Haymitch’s story, filled with triumph and heartbreak, is one of the most fascinating arcs in the series, and The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping offers an unparalleled opportunity to explore his character in greater depth. With Lawrence’s thoughtful approach to casting and storytelling, we can look forward to an actor who not only does justice to the role but also adds new layers to this beloved character. This prequel has the potential to become one of the most powerful entries in the Hunger Games saga, and the right Haymitch will be the cornerstone to its success.

Comedian brutally savages Dems for ‘holding up a body’ in 2024 in chat with Andy Cohen – before awkward dig at CNN

Comedian Whitney Cummings savaged the Democrats and CNN to host Anderson Cooper and co-host Andy Cohen‘s faces on their annual New Year’s Eve blowout.

Cummings, a standup comic with several specials, TV series, films and a book to her name, was appearing to offer some harsh jokes to ‘roast’ 2024.

She started out lashing the Democrats for continuing to stand by Joe Biden until well past his Georgia debate disaster.

‘Democrats couldn’t hold a primary this year. They were too busy holding up a body,’ she said.

Cohen looked visibly surprised by the rip at Biden, who didn’t drop out of the race until late July.

She went further on Democrats’ mandating Kamala Harris as their nominee, noting ‘it was amazing that the pro-choice party didn’t give their voters one.’

‘Kamala was forced on us so hard, you would think she was patented by Pfizer… or Moderna, whichever one’s… oh God, Andy just gave me a very scary look,’ to which Cohen protested.

Cummings had barbs for CNN, which regularly allows Cohen and Cooper to celebrate the end of the year.

‘I’m now playing 3,000-person shows, which is about the viewership of CNN these days,’ she quipped.

Cooper responded in stride: ‘Nice, nice.’

He then noted that he and the Watch What Happens Live host had done a tour of similarly sized venues.

As she took her place on the stage at CNN, she got in a joke about the weather and Cooper’s former co-host for the event.

‘Was that thunder? Are you sure? I thought it was Kathy Griffin screaming at you from the street? Are you sure? I think she’s cursing.’

‘Well, no doubt,’ responded the long-time anchor.

Griffin co-hosted alongside Cooper from 2007 to 2017, before she was fired after a controversial photoshoot with the comic posing and holding a fake severed head of Donald Trump.

She also made a shocking joke about UnitedHealthcare CEO murderer Luigi Mangione, noting that he’s sharing a prison with disgraced mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs,’ noting the alleged killer ‘already has lower back problems.’

Cummings also slammed Arianna Grande for having become ‘white again,’ Disney for taking money from the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia and people becoming ‘wistful’ about the Menendez brothers.

It all came as a storm threatened to washout the celebration in Manhattan’s Times Square.

New Yorkers braved lightning, thunder and torrential rain alongside one million people packed into Times Square to watch the iconic ball drop.

Spirits were high in the crowd during and leading up to the midnight fireworks extravaganza, while Cohen and Cooper were forced to duck for cover from the downpour.

The crowds screamed as the countdown began at 11.59pm, joining in with deafening excitement in spite of the deluge.

Soaking wet revelers danced with one another and kissed as 2024 drew to a close and 2025 began. One woman held up a sign which read ‘she said yes!’ as she embraced her new fiance.

Meteorologist Chris Vagasky revealed on Tuesday night that there had been ‘134 lightning events detected within 50 miles of Times Square in 35 minutes.’

The iconic current New Year’s Eve ball dropped for the final time tonight. It will now be retired to the museum in the newly restored One Times Square and replaced.

In all, 3,000 pounds of confetti rained down on revelers as the clock struck midnight with messages of hope, love, good health and peace for the year ahead.

Additional security measures were put in place across the city to reassure tourists and locals that it was safe to attend festivities.

Specialized units have been manning rooftops and hotels while bomb-sniffing dogs roam around and helicopter and drone teams monitor from the skies.

Designated pick-pocketing teams are also patrolling the area around Times Square, doubly helping with crowd control.

New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said New Yorkers can rest easy knowing there are no specific threats or concerns relating to this evening’s event, although the department has been operating in a ‘heightened threat environment’ since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas conflict on October 7, 2023.

As the crowd gathered at Times Square, watchers-on were warned they were not allowed to pack their umbrellas despite the rain.

AccuWeather meteorologist Alex Duff warned crowds to expect to be drenched if they are out in the elements.

‘The rain will be heavy at times, and people standing in Times Square will get soaked during the evening.’

It made for a miserable evening for some, with pictures capturing the moment onlookers abandoned the packed square and tried to hunker down out of the rain.

In a recent chat with Andy Cohen, a comedian didn’t hold back when discussing the Democrats’ actions in the lead-up to the 2024 election. The comedian brutally savaged the party for “holding up a body” in their pursuit of power, suggesting that they were willing to go to extreme lengths to win.

However, the conversation took an unexpected turn when the comedian made an awkward dig at CNN, calling out the network for their biased reporting and lack of journalistic integrity. It seems that no one was safe from the comedian’s sharp wit, as they continued to call out hypocrisy and double standards across the political spectrum.

The comedian’s bold and unapologetic commentary is sure to ruffle some feathers, but it’s clear that they are not afraid to speak their mind and challenge the status quo. With the 2024 election on the horizon, it will be interesting to see how the comedian’s insights and criticisms shape the political landscape in the coming years.
