The Big 20″ x 4.5″ Ronaqua pleated sediment water filters reduces sand, dirt, silt, rust, and scale particles in residential and commercial water. Pleated filters are made of resin-impregnated cellulose and polyester media pleated around a polypropylene core for strength. These materials trap suspended particles, materials that block and adsorb unwanted chemicals or substances that cause a chemical change to the water, such as acid neutralization. The pleated design provides an amplified surface area that may extend the filter’s life while removing undesirable particles and chemicals from the water by means of a semipermeable barrier, adsorption, and biological processes. Pleated filters are washable and reusable.
A significant advantage of pleated filters is that they protect against a lower pressure drop and allow increased water flow rates. Overall, pleated cartridges outperform standard wound, spun, and melt blown filters because of their re-usability. The Ronaqua pleated sediment water filters have a flow rate of five gallons per minute (GPM).
