The Los Angeles Lakers have been led by first-time head coach JJ Redick this season, and have had relatively strong results. Behind superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and the emergence of Austin Reaves as a bonafide third option and primary playmaker, the Lakers are 27-19 through 46 games, good enough for fifth in the Western Conference.
Through 46 games in 2023-24 under Darvin Ham, the Lakers were 23-23. The year prior, they were 21-25. In fact, it’s the Lakers best start in four years, when they were 29-17 in 2020-21 under head coach Frank Vogel with a much different roster that only shared James and Davis with the current group.
So by most measures, Redick’s first season as a head coach has been strong thus far. And it gets even better when including his relationships with players like Reaves. Redick has helped the fourth-year guard blossom in 2024-25, and part of the reason for that is the implicit trust the two have built together.
“Yeah, I think it’s just, like you said, becoming closer. I mean, he can say anything to me. If it’s the middle of the game, he can sit there and cuss me out if he wants and I know it’s coming from a good place because I’ve spent so much time with him on a human level. So it’s really that. And he’s told me multiple times, if there’s a situation where I need to cuss him, he was like ‘Go ahead, I’m not going to hold anything against you. We’re both competitors and we both want to win.’ So that was really the main thing, we can always be honest with each other.”
Given that trust, Reaves was able to give Redick an honest evaluation as a head coach. He spoke about one of the main things that Redick is still working through — his on-court temper — and what the head coach’s biggest pet peeve is for the Lakers this season:
“I think he’s still learning in that aspect. Because he’s such a competitor, and I personally couldn’t do it as a coach. I would spaz out every chance I get. And you see situations where he’s about to, and he reels it back because he knows everything isn’t going to be perfect. He always says as long as we’re competing our ass off, then he can live with any result. But it’s just when we aren’t competing as hard as we should, that’s what really really bothers him.”
Redick has certainly had a few moments of eruption on the Lakers sideline this season, but it stems from a place of deep care and love for his team, and that is very apparent. The Lakers have improved from last year to this year despite very few changes to the roster, even if they aren’t yet championship contenders.
And as Redick continues to grow as a head coach, those relationships will continue to grow as well.
JJ Redick not a fan of proposed switch to 10-minute quarters
As a player and an analyst, JJ Redick has seen plenty of changes to the league from a rules and officiating standpoint. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has tried to find ways to make the on-court product more enjoyable while simultaneously adding things like the Play-In Tournament and Emirates NBA Cup.
Silver recently suggested the idea of shortening quarters to 10 minutes instead of 12 minutes and Redick had a very strong opinion on the topic.

In a recent interview, Austin Reaves opened up about the strong bond he has formed with veteran sharpshooter JJ Redick. The young guard expressed how important trust is in their relationship on and off the court.
Reaves shared that Redick has been a mentor to him since his arrival in the NBA, guiding him through the ups and downs of professional basketball. The two have spent countless hours in the gym working on their shooting and developing their chemistry on the court.
The mutual trust between Reaves and Redick has been instrumental in their success as teammates. Reaves mentioned how Redick’s experience and knowledge of the game have helped him improve his game and become a more confident player.
As they continue to build their partnership, Reaves is excited about the potential they have as a duo. He believes that their trust in each other will only continue to grow, leading to even greater success for the team.
Overall, the bond between Reaves and Redick serves as a reminder of the importance of mentorship and trust in the world of professional sports. Their relationship is a testament to the power of teamwork and collaboration, and fans can expect to see great things from them in the future.
Historians ignore the role of weapons when studying war, leading to misconceptions, Paul Lockhart, a professor of history at Wright State University, said in a lecture sponsored by the Center for Military History and Strategy Jan. 23.
“Within the realm of military history, I would argue that historians don’t often pay attention to the details of firearms or the difference between theoretical and impractical performance and the difference that they make,” Lockhart said. “Not just in terms of tactics or in the art of war, but also in terms of social and political considerations when we look at war on a much broader scale.”
Lockhart said he came to this conclusion after a conversation with a colleague about a Gadsden flag that had the image of a gun on it in Lockhart’s office.
“It got me reflecting on why it is that historians, and scholars in general, feel uncomfortable, not just thinking about guns in a modern sense, but also incorporating them into their research and into their teaching,” Lockhart said.
While historians often study difficult topics, Lockhart said guns have become one of the most avoided topics in recent years.
“Historians deal with the unpleasant all the time and historians deal with things they don’t necessarily agree on or advocate for,” Lockhart said. “If we have felt we were for everything we talked about, nobody would, hopefully, talk about the Holocaust or the Third Reich. It doesn’t mean embracing gun culture, for example, to talk about them.”
According to Lockhart, the stigma surrounding weapons in the academic community has led to misrepresentations of historical events and the way they are taught in the classroom.
“When we misconstrue or misunderstand the abilities of weapons and the way that weapons work with tactics, are involved with the industrial economy, and the ability of individual states to marshall the resources necessary to manufacture weapons,” Lockhart said. “If we misconstrue those, we can assemble a grand narrative that’s at least wrong in major ways.”
Lockhart also discussed some of the misconceptions that a lack of understanding about weapons has created. He said high casualty numbers are often blamed on new, advanced technology and officers, especially during the Civil War and World War I.
“There is no revolution in technology that causes greater lethality,” Lockhart said. “Why do more men die in the Civil War? Because more men fought in the American Civil War; the battles are bigger.”
Sophomore Leonard Fritz said the lecture covered an area of military history he is interested in.
“I thought it was very insightful, especially his defense of general officers in the First World War, and his discussion about the effect the scale of war has on casualty numbers,” Fritz said.
Sophomore Grace Canlas said Lockhart’s take on firepower is helpful for everyone to avoid misconceptions about history.
“Lessons concerning warfare, such as the evolution of firepower, are not just important and applicable for those studying military history, but any discipline,” Canlas said. “As Dr. Lockhart discussed, weapons have not only shaped the history of warfare, but the history of mankind.”
Weapons have played a crucial role in shaping the course of history throughout the ages. From ancient times to modern warfare, the evolution of weapons has had a profound impact on how battles are fought and won.
I recently had the opportunity to speak with a historian who specializes in the study of weapons throughout history. We delved into the fascinating world of weaponry, discussing everything from the earliest stone tools used by our ancestors to the cutting-edge technology of today’s military arsenal.
One of the key points that the historian emphasized was the role of innovation in the development of weapons. Throughout history, societies have constantly sought to improve upon existing weapons or invent new ones to gain a strategic advantage in warfare. From the invention of the bow and arrow to the introduction of gunpowder weapons, each new development has had a significant impact on the way wars are fought.
We also discussed the cultural significance of weapons in different societies. In some cultures, weapons were not just tools of war but symbols of power and status. Elaborately decorated swords and shields were often used as symbols of a warrior’s prowess and valor, while in other cultures, weapons were imbued with spiritual significance and believed to possess mystical powers.
Overall, our discussion highlighted the complex and multifaceted role that weapons have played in shaping human history. As we continue to study and analyze the impact of weapons on warfare and society, it is clear that they will remain a crucial element in understanding the past and shaping the future.
– During yesterday’s edition of The Pat McAfee Show, WWE Superstar CM Punk was asked about working with WWE Chief Creative Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, comparing his leadership to Vince McMahon Below are some highlights (via Fightful):
CM Punk on Triple H: “I think he’s receptive to other people’s ideas, whereas maybe Vince wasn’t. He was, ‘I’m the boss, we’re doing this and this is how we’re doing it.’ That’s great. If you run a company, you need somebody who is the ‘yes’ and ‘no’ man, and the final say.”
On Triple H surrounding himself with genius wrestling minds: Triple H thinks he’s surrounded, and oftentimes is, but a lot of really genius wrestling minds. If he has an idea or sees something one way, he’ll look at Michael Hayes and be like, ‘What do you think?’ He’ll look at Paul Heyman. These are people who have bonafide resumes and have literally done everything you could possibly do in the sport and their voices should be heard. Not all the time will everybody have this dynamite idea, but the best idea always wins in today’s WWE.”
Punk will be competing in the men’s Rumble match later today at the WWE Royal Rumble 2025. The premium live event is being held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. It will be broadcast live on Peacock.
In a recent interview, CM Punk opened up about his creative partnership with Triple H and how it has helped him grow as a performer.
Punk spoke about how working alongside Triple H has allowed him to explore new ideas and push the boundaries of his character. He praised Triple H for his willingness to listen to his ideas and collaborate on developing compelling storylines.
The former WWE champion also highlighted the importance of having a strong creative partnership in the wrestling industry, emphasizing that it is crucial for performers to have a voice in the creative process.
Overall, Punk expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with Triple H and credited him for helping him elevate his game in the ring and on the mic.
It’s clear that the creative partnership between CM Punk and Triple H has been a successful one, and fans can expect to see even more exciting collaborations between the two in the future.
Heyman has worked backstage in WWE for years and at different points in the company’s history. He has seen Vince McMahon’s approach to creative, and he now works under Triple H.
“With the same amount of freedom, if not more encouragement to teach others how to ingratiate themselves into the mix to the point where they are trusted enough to get some of those same freedoms,” Heyman said. “Paul Levesque is a very interesting Chief Content Officer. I’ve worked with many different CCOs and executive producers and showrunners and story creators. He is, by far, the most collaborative. He understands, there is no doubt he understands that the buck stops with him, and he has to make a decision.
“He doesn’t waver from that at all. But at the same time, he’s very open to starting on a different page than he originally envisioned,” Heyman continued. “For a long time, in this industry, and then it was taken to a far different level by Vincent Kennedy McMahon, but for a long time the head writer, the ‘booker’ starts with a blank piece of paper. From that blank piece of paper comes the vision of what the storylines are going to be that lead to the payoff at the show in the big arena or pay-per-view or Network special. The word of the head writer was final. There was no appeal unless you went to the owner of the territory or the company and you challenged the booker, in which case you were challenging the booker for the role of the booker.”
Heyman On Differences Between Triple H And Vince McMahon
Heyman also compared how Triple H was different from Vince McMahon. He explained how working with McMahon eventually boiled down to a “micromanaged creative process,” while Triple H was more open to other people’s input and ideas.
“With Vincent Kennedy McMahon, it became quite the micromanaged creative process in which Vince had a vision and the people around him were to embellish, exaggerate, enhance, elevate, upgrade the vision Vince had from the blank piece of paper,” Paul Heyman said. “Paul Levesque can walk into a room with a blank piece of paper and say, ‘Where are we headed? Let me have some opinions. Pitch me. Seduce me. Inspire me. Motivate me. Hook me on something.’
“He may say, ‘I’m seeing Mr. ABC vs. Dr. LMNOP, that’s the main event next year. How do we get there? What are the interweaving stories that are told? What are the spinoffs from this story? The main theme for WWE next year will be the build for Mr. A vs. Dr. LMNOP.’ There are many different ways Paul Levesque approaches the collaborative process. They are all open to everyone’s ideas. Then he, like a great editor, will narrow it down and narrow it down even further.”
In a recent interview, Paul Heyman opened up about Triple H’s creative process and how it differs from that of Vince McMahon. Heyman, who has worked closely with both men during his time in WWE, shed light on the unique approaches each takes when it comes to shaping storylines and characters.
According to Heyman, Triple H is known for his meticulous attention to detail and his hands-on approach to creative planning. He explained that Triple H is heavily involved in every aspect of the creative process, from developing storylines to working with talent on their characters and promos. Heyman praised Triple H for his ability to think outside the box and his willingness to take risks in order to create compelling and innovative content.
On the other hand, Heyman pointed out that Vince McMahon’s creative process is more traditional and structured. McMahon is known for his hands-on approach to creative direction, often making last-minute changes to storylines and matches. Heyman noted that McMahon’s instincts and experience have been instrumental in shaping WWE’s success over the years, but acknowledged that his approach can sometimes be more rigid and less willing to take creative risks.
Overall, Heyman emphasized that both Triple H and Vince McMahon bring valuable perspectives to the creative process, and that their differing approaches help to create a diverse and dynamic product for WWE fans. It’s clear that each man’s unique vision and leadership style play a key role in shaping the future of the company.

Patriots quarterback Drake Maye checked in from the Pro Bowl with his first public comments on new head coach Mike Vrabel and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
Speaking to Sirius XM radio on Friday, the Pro Bowl alternate shared his excitement for the Patriots new-look coaching staff. In his introductory press conference, Vrabel said the Pats quarterback, who is down in Orlando this week at the Pro Bowl Games, was one reason he found the job in New England appealing, calling Maye a “young, dynamic quarterback.”
During his radio interview at the 2025 Pro Bowl Games, Maye said that he’s already been in communication with his new head coach.
“[Vrabel] reached out to me, and we got on the phone. He’s been awesome. Obviously, a guy who’s done it, played in the league, and won a Super Bowl,” Maye told Sirius XM. “You have a respect for what he’s done and seen what he’s done. I think the biggest thing is he’s been a head coach and knows what it’s like. So excited to get up to New England and get things going.”
The 22-year-old starting quarterback was a late addition to the Pro Bowl roster following a promising rookie season. Maye finished his first season as the 17th-ranked quarterback in ESPN’s total QBR metric out of 32 qualified passers (58.6), slightly ahead of fellow rookie QB Bo Nix (56.9) and one spot below Jags QB Trevor Lawrence (59.3). The Pats QB threw for 2,276 passing yards with 17 total touchdowns in 12 starts as a rookie.
Along with sharing his excitement for his new head coach, Maye was also asked about offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels returning to direct New England’s offense. With the Pats top brass spending the last week at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Vrabel suggested that McDaniels will add “new trends” to his offense that will also cater the offense to Maye.
“There’s been some growth from the offense over the years, and [McDaniels] has blended that with some of the new trends, but the foundation will remain the same,” Vrabel said. “We’re going to want to do things that maybe they didn’t do with previous quarterbacks here.”
As the head coach stated, Maye has a different skill set than most of the quarterbacks that McDaniels has worked with previously. Mainly, the second-year QB is a dual threat, with the ability to stress defenses with his arm talent and mobility. The hope is that McDaniels will leverage all of Maye’s physical tools against opposing defenses, giving New England’s offense as many ways as possible to move the ball and score points.
“Coach McDaniels, obviously what he’s done and the success he’s had, I’m fortunate to be able to have a guy come in who has done it at a high level and learn from him coaching one of the best ever – the best ever in my opinion — Tom [Brady],” Maye said of his new offensive coordinator.
At the Pro Bowl Games, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye took some time to discuss the team’s new-look coaching staff and the upcoming 2025 season. Maye expressed excitement about working with the new coaches and the fresh perspective they bring to the team.
“I’m really looking forward to working with our new coaching staff,” Maye said. “They bring a lot of energy and new ideas to the table, and I think it’s going to be a great opportunity for us to grow and improve as a team.”
Maye also shared his thoughts on the upcoming 2025 season, expressing confidence in the team’s ability to compete at a high level.
“We have a talented group of players and a strong team culture, so I think we have a lot of potential to have a successful season,” Maye said. “I’m excited to see what we can accomplish together.”
As the Pro Bowl Games continue, Maye and the Patriots will be keeping a close eye on the offseason developments and preparing for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the 2025 season. Stay tuned for more updates as the team gears up for another exciting year of football.
As President Donald Trump makes a very public effort to acquire Greenland, one former Danish official said Trump’s attempts are nothing new — but he shouldn’t expect it to be easy. Interest in buying Greenland has “popped up from time to time in American politics,” Tom Høyem, Denmark’s minister to Greenland from 1982 to 1987, told ABC News in an interview.
Høyem, 83, discussed Greenland’s political importance over the years, as well as his reaction to Trump’s recent desire to buy the island territory.
“Trump is living in a narrative where this has been an issue for the last 150 years,” Høyem said.
The purchase of Greenland has been a topic of conversation since before World War II, when Denmark sold the Danish West Indies — now known as the U.S. Virgin Islands — to the United States in 1917 for $25 million, Høyem said. Many American policymakers argued the U.S. should also acquire Greenland as well, according to Høyem.
“[President] Woodrow Wilson at first said, ‘No, it’s not worth anything at all. It’s just ice. I don’t want it.’ But there was such a big debate in the U.S. that he was forced to do something,” Høyem said.
When Wilson asked for ownership of Greenland, the Danish minister at the time replied, “No,” according to Høyem. Wilson signed an agreement in 1917 stating the United States recognizes Greenland as Danish, Høyem said.
In the document discussing the transfer of the Danish West Indies, then-Secretary of State Robert Lansing wrote, “In preceding this day to the signature of the Convention respecting the cessation of the Danish West-Indian Island to the United States of America, the undersigned Secretary of State of the United States of America, duly authorized by his Government, has the honor to declare that the Government of the United States of America will not object to the Danish Government extending their political and economic interests to the whole of Greenland.”

If Denmark was to ever sell Greenland to any country, Høyem said the United Kingdom would receive the first right to buy it, since the U.K. held dominion over Canada at the time of the treaty.
“Canada is only 20 kilometers away. That’s why the British said, ‘If Denmark ever sells Greenland, we should be the first to decide whether to take it or not,’” Høyem told ABC News.
Now, with Trump saying he wants to purchase Greenland, Høyem said history is repeating itself.
“Trump grew up hearing these stories,” Høyem said. “His generation and his parents’ generation often heard about U.S. attempts to buy Greenland.”
Trump has repeatedly expressed his interest in acquiring the island territory, beginning during his first administration when he tried to buy Greenland, but instead gave $12 million for economic development. Trump has since restated his interest in buying the territory shortly before his second inauguration.
“For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity,” Trump said in a December 2024 statement.
Trump said the purchase was needed for security purposes, adding he is “protecting the free world.” The U.S. also operates Putiffik Space Base, the Defense Department’s northern-most base, which sits on the coast of Greenland. The U.S. does not pay Greenland for operating the base in the country, Høyem said, as part of a NATO agreement signed in 1951.
“You have approximately 45,000 people there. People really don’t even know if Denmark has any legal right to it,” Trump said, without explanation, during a Jan. 7 press conference at Mar-a-Lago. “But if they do, they should give it up because we need it for national security. That’s for the free world.”
Greenland is also rich in valuable minerals, including rare earth metals, precious metals, precious stones, and uranium, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Association. While that may sound appealing to a potential buyer, Høyem said mining there is extremely expensive.

Trump’s son, Donald Trump, Jr., visited Greenland on Jan. 7, but stated the visit was for personal reasons. During this trip, his father said on social media, “Don. Jr. and my Reps landing in Greenland. The reception has been great. They, and the Free World, need safety, security, strength and PEACE! This is a deal that must happen.”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio also reiterated an interest in the U.S. securing Greenland during his Senate confirmation hearings.
“Putting aside all the things that are going on in the media, I think we need to understand that Greenland’s been strategically important to the United States and to the West for a very long time,” Rubio said. “I think we now have the opportunity to see it for what it is, and that is one, if not the most important, one of the most critical parts of the world over the next 50 to 100 years will be whether there’s going to be freedom of navigation in the Arctic and what that will mean for global trade and commerce.”
Høyem said he does not know Trump, but thinks “he needs to be briefed a bit more by his civil servants.”
“His new minister of foreign affairs spoke to the Danish foreign minister — my party leader and friend — and they both agreed: ‘Let’s not discuss Greenland for now,’” Høyem said.
The prime minister of Greenland, Múte Egsede, has rejected the idea of selling Greenland to Trump, saying, “Greenland is ours.”
“We are not for sale and will never be for sale,” Egsede said in a statement. “We must not lose our long struggle for freedom.”

Officials from Denmark also have not supported Trump’s Greenmark proposal, including Danish politician Anders Vistisen, who explicitly urged the newly elected president to “f— off.”
“Greenland has been part of the Danish kingdom for 800 years,” Vistisen said during a European Parliament meeting on Jan. 21 in Strasbourg, France. “It’s an integrated part of our country. It is not for sale.”
Høyem said if Greenland decided to become independent, “they would immediately be targeted by major global powers.” Until then, Høyem said the territory needs more U.S. military investment to help defend it.
“I personally can’t imagine Greenland becoming fully independent,” Høyem said. “Running a country that large with so few people is nearly impossible.”
Regardless of the future of Trump’s Greenland proposal, Høyem said the land holds significant power.
“Trump might have looked at Greenland as a real estate deal, but for Denmark and Greenland, it’s a matter of geopolitical survival,” Høyem said. “The Arctic is extremely important, and I agree with Trump on that.”
In a recent interview, former Danish minister for Greenland, Aleqa Hammond, shared her thoughts on President Trump’s recent interest in acquiring the autonomous territory from Denmark. Hammond, who served as minister from 2013 to 2014, expressed concerns about the potential implications of such a move.
Hammond highlighted the strategic importance of Greenland, particularly in terms of its vast natural resources and its role in global politics. She warned that a US takeover of the island could have significant geopolitical consequences, potentially destabilizing the region and sparking tensions with other countries.
Furthermore, Hammond criticized Trump’s approach to diplomacy, noting that his brash and confrontational style could alienate the Greenlandic people and strain relations with Denmark. She stressed the need for a more collaborative and respectful approach to negotiations, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding.
Overall, Hammond’s insights shed light on the complexities of the situation and underscore the need for careful consideration and diplomacy in dealing with such sensitive matters. As the debate over Greenland’s future continues to unfold, her perspective serves as a valuable contribution to the ongoing discussion.

The Weeknd discusses Jenna Ortega’s pivotal role in his film, Hurry Up Tomorrow.
He was very impressed when Jenna Ortega improvised a key scene in the psychological thriller.
Barry Keoghan also stars, handpicked by The Weeknd for his breakout talent.
Hurry Up Tomorrow explores fame’s impact, releasing in theaters May 16, 2025.
Abel Tesfaye (professionally known as The Weeknd) has spent several years expanding his career as a musician—becoming a Grammy-winning artist known for hits like “Blinding Lights” and “Save Your Tears.” However, later this year, Tesfaye is officially set to make his feature film debut with the psychological thriller Hurry Up Tomorrow. Directed by Trey Edward Shults, the movie is based on The Weeknd’s sixth studio album of the same name, with a star-studded cast that suggests it has the potential to be a suspenseful journey into the mind of its protagonist, covering themes of self-identity.

The Weeknd Praises the Cast of His Upcoming Film Hurry Up Tomorrow
In addition to co-writing the personal film, Tesfaye stars alongside Jenna Ortega, Barry Keoghan, and fellow musician Gabby Barrett, and in an interview with Variety, the actor-turned-musician specifically praised the lead cast, saying, “Jenna brought so much depth to the character. There was a scene where Trey and I looked at each other like, ‘On paper, this is just ridiculous — how is it going to translate on screen?’ And she said, ‘I have an idea.’ She led that whole scene — none of it was rehearsed, and a lot of my reactions in it are not acting.” Elsewhere in the interview, we also learn that Keoghan, who has been gaining recognition for his performances in The Banshees of Inisherin and Saltburn, was always Tesfaye’s first choice for the role.
While not much is known about the film, it has been said that Tesfaye’s character struggles with the psychology of fame, a theme that resonates with his own experiences in the music industry. The film is set to be released on May 16, 2025, and is expected to be a polarizing cinematic experience, given his work on The Idol.

Finney-Smith revealed that he initially thought his ankle injury was not serious and would only require a few days of rest. However, further evaluation by team doctors revealed that he had suffered a more significant injury that would sideline him for an extended period of time.
“It was definitely a shock to me when I found out the severity of the injury. I thought I would be back on the court in no time, but I had to come to terms with the fact that I would be out for a while,” Finney-Smith said.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – President Donald Trump is here in Las Vegas after touring wildfire-ravaged Los Angeles.
While he’s here, he’s expected to talk about a different policy. No tax on tips.
That’s according to Nevada GOP Chairman, Michael McDonald, who spoke to FOX5 after he and Governor Joe Lombardo talked to the president when he landed.
“He cares about the no tax on tips, no tax on Social Security. That was something that we brought to the community, and everybody loved it because we’re all hurting,” McDonald said. “I mean price of gas, price of eggs, food overall. I think you have someone who’s listening to the American people.”
Chairman McDonald thinks that policy is resonating with people in Southern Nevada who make up a large chunk of tipped workers compared to the rest of the country.
“He’s worked for the working men and women. A lot of union members are going to show up tomorrow (Saturday) that voted for him, that came out for him, the working industry for the culinary union. They’re going to show up tomorrow,” McDonald said.
But Nevada Congressman Steven Horsford isn’t so sure.
The politician says he sponsors the no tax on tips legislation, but notes the differences between President Trump’s plan, and his bill.
“My bill provides guardrails that ensures that the benefit goes to the hard-working people who should benefit from this tax relief,” Horsford said. “Not to millionaires or to those who would try to benefit from the legislation otherwise.”
The congressman tells us without guardrails, a wealthy family could give away a bunch of money and call it a tip.
That no tax on tips discussion is set to happen at the Circa Resort and Casino on Saturday, January 25th. Doors open at 9:30 a.m., and President Trump is expected to speak at 12:30 p.m.
Around 2,000 people are expected to be there.

Recently, Nevada GOP Chairman, Michael McDonald, sat down to discuss President Trump’s new policy regarding no taxes on tips. This policy has been met with mixed reactions, but McDonald is confident that it will benefit both workers and businesses in the long run.
During the interview, McDonald emphasized the importance of supporting workers in the service industry, who rely heavily on tips for their income. He believes that by eliminating taxes on tips, President Trump is helping to ensure that these hardworking individuals can keep more of their earnings.
McDonald also pointed out that this policy will be a boon for businesses, as it will incentivize customers to tip more generously. By allowing workers to keep all of their tips, restaurants and other service establishments may see an increase in customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Overall, McDonald expressed his support for President Trump’s no tax on tips policy, stating that it is a positive step towards supporting both workers and businesses in Nevada and across the country. Time will tell how this policy will impact the service industry, but for now, it seems to have the backing of the Nevada GOP Chairman.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Chelsea Green joined HUGE POP! with Donnie DaSilva and veteran WWE referee Jimmy Korderas, offering fans an entertaining and candid discussion about her wrestling career and experiences.
On Cities Blurring Together
When asked if her frequent travel causes cities to blur together, Green responded:
“In America, yes. There are a few cities that stand out, but with Canada… I live for Canadian shows. I don’t care if it’s a Premium Live Event or a small show.”
Green shared her enthusiasm for wrestling in Canada, saying she gets “very excited” whenever shows are scheduled in her home country.
Nick Aldis’ Praise for Green
Reflecting on Nick Aldis’ recent comments that working with her is like a “night off,” Green expressed her gratitude:
“I don’t think there’s any higher praise you can get as a wrestler than your co-workers saying they enjoy being around you and working with you because this is not an easy business.”
She compared the industry to a family, acknowledging the occasional disagreements but emphasizing her positive attitude:
“I always come to work with a smile.”
On Wins, Titles, and Staying Grounded
Addressing a previous interview where she stated she didn’t care about titles or winning, Green joked about her current success:
“Am I winning all the time? Let’s think about it. I lost for two years straight. Have I won three times in about five years? Yes. Has it changed me? Has my head blown up? Not yet. By the time WrestleMania comes, if I’m still holding this championship, honey, my head isn’t going to fit through the door!”
Despite her humor, Green stressed that her perspective remains grounded:
“It’s still not about winning to me, even though I am a winner.”
The Challenges of Being a Heel
Discussing the fan reaction to her heel persona, Green acknowledged the difficulty of staying a villain while being cheered:
“When they put me with Piper, it became more difficult. The fans are so smart. You cannot tell the fans how to react. If they see someone who they see put blood, sweat, and tears into this industry, they’re just not going to boo you.”
She admitted the challenge this presents for babyfaces, saying:
“As a babyface, I wouldn’t want to be in the position of working a heel the crowd is cheering.”
Green revealed she actively works with WWE writers to maintain her heel character and agreed with a suggestion that a dynamic similar to Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth could help generate boos.
Excitement for the Elimination Chamber
Looking ahead to the Elimination Chamber match, Green expressed mixed feelings:
“I’m equally nervous and excited about the opportunity… But since I’m a champion, I’d be fine not being added to that match!”
