U.S. President Donald Trump said Sunday that members of his administration are already in talks with Russian authorities about ending Moscow’s war on Ukraine.
“We will be speaking, and I think we’ll perhaps do something that’ll be significant,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “We want to end that war,” he said, referring to the conflict in Ukraine.
Trump did not specify which members of his administration were in talks with Russian officials or describe the nature of those conversations, only saying that “we are having discussions… already talking, yes.”
When asked whether he had personally spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone, Trump told reporters: “I don’t want to say that.”
“We are having very serious discussions about that war. We’re trying to get it ended,” the U.S. president said.
Trump also repeated past claims that Russia would not have launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine had he been in office, claims that Putin repeated last month in an interview with Russian state media.
Earlier, Trump’s Ukraine envoy Keith Kellogg told Fox News that both Kyiv and Moscow would need to make concessions in talks to end the war.
“I think both sides will give a little bit,” Kellog said in an interview, suggesting that both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Putin would “soften” their positions about territorial claims.
Russian forces occupy large swaths of land in eastern and southern Ukraine, and Moscow annexed the Crimean peninsula in 2014. Ukrainian troops, meanwhile, have controlled parts of Russia’s southwestern Kursk region since August.
On the campaign trail, before he won the U.S. presidential election in November, Trump boasted that he could end the war in Ukraine before taking office. However, the White House is now reportedly working on a “100-day peace plan” for bringing an end to the conflict.
Putin said last month that he was ready to meet with Trump to discuss the war in Ukraine, as well as other “areas of interest to both the U.S. and Russia.”
In a recent statement, former President Donald Trump revealed that the United States and Russia are engaged in ‘serious’ discussions regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Trump, who has maintained close ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressed optimism about the potential for a peaceful resolution to the war.
The conflict in Ukraine, which has been ongoing since 2014, has resulted in thousands of deaths and has caused significant tensions between Russia and Western countries. Trump’s announcement of discussions between the U.S. and Russia comes as a glimmer of hope for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
While details of the discussions have not been disclosed, Trump’s statement indicates that both countries are actively working towards finding a solution to the conflict. The former President’s involvement in these discussions highlights his continued influence in international affairs, even after leaving office.
As the situation in Ukraine continues to escalate, the world will be watching closely to see how these discussions between the U.S. and Russia unfold. The potential for a peaceful resolution to the conflict remains uncertain, but Trump’s announcement signals a step in the right direction.
Elon Musk’s social media platform X may not only be getting more interest from e-commerce giant Amazon.
As per a recent report, tech giant Apple may also be pondering a return to the social media platform.
X controversies:
Apple, together with several high-profile advertisers, pulled its ads from X in late 2023 following a report from Media Matters of America, which claimed that the tech giant’s ads were appearing alongside extremist content.
X has responded by suing Media Matters, arguing that the watchdog used deceiving tactics to give the impression that advertisements from major corporations were appearing alongside controversial content.
In a recent report, The Wall Street Journal noted that Amazon was increasing its ad spend on X.
The publication, citing a source reportedly familiar with the matter, stated that in recent weeks, Apple has also had discussions about testing out ads on X.
“Apple, which pulled all of its ad dollars from X in late 2023, in recent weeks has had discussions about testing out ads on the platform, according to a person familiar with the situation,” the WSJ report noted.
X after Musk:
Following Musk’s controversial takeover of X, the company’s ad revenue saw a steep drop.
X, however, has since launched several initiatives aimed at gaining more revenue and attracting more users to the platform.
These include the launch of a monetization program for creators, as well as upcoming services like X Money, which was recently announced by the company.

Buddy Hield was once regarded as the Golden State Warriors’ replacement for Klay Thompson, who won four NBA titles during his time with the team. Hield, who is also a lethal shooter, was signed in the last offseason, following Thompson‘s departure in free agency to play with the Dallas Mavericks.
Hield, however, has not lived up to expectations, despite an impressive start with the team. He is shooting a respectable 36.6 percent from the three-point range on seven attempts per game. Yet, it was his lowest three-point percentage since 2020.
In his recent game against the Utah Jazz, Hield only put up two points on 1-of-7 shooting, triggering discussions among fans about his trade value, and if it is high time for the team to trade him.
•
Fans came up with numerous trade ideas for Hield, ranging from an All-Star to some bench warmers in the NBA in an attempt to salvage the struggling Warriors’s season.
“Send him to Pistons for Malik Beasley!,” said another fan.
“I would take him for zeke naji,” said one more fan.
Meanwhile, other fans discussed his trade value, which most of them think has shrunk since starting the season well alongside Steph Curry and Draymond Green.
“No team wants this dude…You have to find a team that wants him and his contract(4 years)… He’s untradeable right now…,” said one fan.
“trade value so f**king low rn. bro imagine we keep him…,” a fan said.
“I really thought Buddy Hield will be something else when he arrived in Golden State. Now I know why he get traded everytime,” said another fan.
Hield is averaging 11.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game in 23 minutes. His current scoring average is his lowest since his rookie season in 2016, when he was still playing with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Aside from the Pelicans, he has played with the Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, and the Philadelphia 76ers before going to the Warriors in the offseason.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr puts full trust in Buddy Hield
Despite Buddy Hield’s struggles, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has emphasized that he is giving Hield his full trust in shooting the ball. Kerr said that he is willing to give Hield more freedom in spite of his shooting woes this season.
“I trust him…I believe he’ll make the next shot…I’m I’m going to keep playing him. I’m going to keep trusting him,” Kerr said.
Kerr has been playing Buddy Hield mostly off the bench this season. However, he has been inconsistent recently, only scoring in double digits three times in the last eight games.
The Warriors are currently at 23-23. They have won five of their last 12 games.

As the Golden State Warriors continue to struggle and fall short of expectations this season, some fans have started to look towards potential trade options to shake things up. One name that has been circulating in trade discussions among Warriors fans is Klay Thompson’s replacement.
Thompson, who has been out with injury for the past two seasons, has been sorely missed on the court. His absence has left a noticeable gap in the Warriors’ lineup, particularly on the defensive end. With Thompson’s return uncertain, some fans are starting to consider who could potentially fill his shoes in a trade.
One name that has been frequently mentioned is Him, a promising young player from the Foxes. Him has shown flashes of brilliance on both ends of the court and has the potential to be a solid replacement for Thompson. While he may not have the same level of experience as Thompson, Him’s youth and energy could inject some much-needed excitement into the Warriors’ lineup.
Of course, trade discussions are just speculation at this point, and it remains to be seen whether the Warriors front office will make any moves to address their current struggles. However, it’s clear that fans are eager to see some changes and are looking towards potential replacements for Thompson. Only time will tell if Him or another player will be the answer for the Warriors’ woes.

Adrien Brody may not have landed the role of The Joker for Christopher Nolan but he does still have an interest in comic book movies.
At this point, we’ve seen so many iterations of The Joker. From Caesar Romero to Jack Nicholson to Heath Ledger to whatever Jared Leto was going for, the Clown Prince of Crime, just about everything has been done. And while nobody did it like Ledger, we do wonder what other actors would have brought to the makeup had they edged him out. Some, like Joaquin Phoenix (who was offered the role) would get their chance later on, but others will forever be a fantasy – and usually for good reason. Take Adrien Brody, for example, who says he was in the conversation to play The Joker in The Dark Knight, even if it faded quickly.
Adrien Brody recently appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast and reflected on circling The Joker for Christopher Nolan. While he does admit that he was far from landing the role, he did express his amazement at both Ledger and what Nolan would do for the comic book world. “It was a role that I felt very suited to do. Heath did such a remarkable job in that movie. It was indelible. Such beautiful work. Any actor who has a degree of edge would like to delve into a dark character like that, especially with a filmmaker like Christopher Nolan who brought such a profound vision. And nobody was doing that at the time. There was nothing like that.” Brody added that the way Nolan shaped comic book movies would leave a mark on the industry, taking them to an elevated level they hadn’t been put at before. “It was a difference of, Are you gonna do a big studio movie and play a comic book hero or villain, whatever you’re suited for?…But it’s really broad and not necessarily the way that would feel fulfilling.”
As far as if he would ever help bring panels to life on the big screen, he added, “If I was presented with an opportunity to play an interesting character with a filmmaker that elevated me and gave me space to do something vastly different…in that world, it sounds amazing.” OK, so The Joker is out for Adrien Brody, so who could he play if he were to step into the Marvel or DC universes? I don’t see him as the hero type on that front but do see him able to nail a villain quite well (maybe a resurrection of Scarecrow?). It’s not out of the realm of possibility, and if he ends up winning the Oscar for The Brutalist (despite some controversy surrounding his performance), I could see those sorts of opportunities coming his way.
Which comic book character could you see Adrien Brody playing? Give us your ideal choice in the comments section below!
Adrien Brody on his Joker discussions with Christopher Nolan
In a recent interview, actor Adrien Brody opened up about his discussions with director Christopher Nolan regarding potentially playing the iconic role of the Joker in the hit film “The Dark Knight.”
Brody revealed that he and Nolan had several conversations about the character and how they both wanted to approach the role in a new and fresh way. While ultimately the role went to Heath Ledger, Brody expressed his admiration for Ledger’s performance and how he brought a unique and twisted interpretation to the character.
Despite not landing the role, Brody shared that he had a great experience working with Nolan and would love the opportunity to collaborate with him in the future. He also mentioned that he has no regrets about not playing the Joker, as he believes everything happens for a reason and Ledger’s portrayal of the character was truly phenomenal.
Fans of Brody can look forward to seeing him in future projects, as the talented actor continues to impress audiences with his versatility and dedication to his craft.

The PGA Tour is contemplating a format change to its Tour Championship, according to reports from The Athletic and The Associated Press.
The Athletic first reported that Tour officials were discussing options for replacing the current staggered-start format for its FedExCup playoff finale at East Lake with a “bracket-style event.” The AP later added that several concepts were being discussed, and the Tour was “leaning” toward some sort of seeded match-play bracket, with potential ideas including medal match play; stroke play leading into match play; and having matches decide the top eight finishers.
The AP added that the Tour’s Player Advisory Council has yet to see any proposals and that a switch in time for the 2025 Tour Championship is unlikely.
All sources in the reports spoke to the outlets on condition of anonymity.
The Tour moved the 30-man Tour Championship to a staggered start in 2019, rewarding the FedExCup No. 1 by letting him begin the week at East Lake at 10 under, among other tiered starting positions. However, player opinion has never been overly positive. In fact, just this past season, Scottie Scheffler called the format “silly.”
Keegan Bradley was asked about the reports on Friday at Kapalua. He said he’d only just heard about the potential changes, but he agreed adjustments probably need to be made.
“I do know that the format now I think is a little clunky,” Bradley said. “I think it’s a little strange. There’s no right or wrong way. They’re trying to create drama in the last event of the year, and you got guys like Scottie Scheffler who, you know, if they don’t do something like that, wouldn’t have to even play that week and you win the FedExCup. So, I’m not in a position, thankfully, to make those [changes], but I’m all for trying to make the Tour better.”
The revealed potential tweaks offer some promise.
Medal match play is a version of the head-to-head format where competitors play 18 holes, after which the lowest stroke-play score wins the match. If tied, like normal match play, the match goes to sudden death. Medal match play is most notably used at the NCAA Division II Championship, and it also is featured in the final round of the St. Andrews Links Collegiate, a college event that finishes on the Old Course. Imagine competing on the Old Course, yet your match ends on No. 16; medal match play ensures that every match goes to the final hole, surely an enticing aspect for sponsors who purchase suites around East Lake’s 18th green.
Top amateur championships such as the U.S. Amateur and Western Amateur use stroke-play qualifying before advancing the top finishers to match play. This format would ensure that every player who qualifies for East Lake sticks around for multiple days, as would a match-play format with four culminating matches, presumably for first, third, fifth and seventh place – and corresponding prize payouts. Usually, such matches would come at the end of a bracket that includes consolation elements.
There are certainly plenty of options, with the common thread being a head-to-head showdown for big money on Sunday at East Lake.
“I think that would be certainly interesting, because the pressure that you would feel at the Tour Championship, if you’re going to win the FedExCup and win whatever amount of money is at stake, that’s real pressure,” Bradley said. “So, to watch two guys go out and play for it would be pretty cool.”
The PGA Tour is reportedly in discussions to change the format of the Tour Championship, according to multiple reports. The proposed changes would see the tournament move from a traditional stroke-play format to a match-play format.
This potential shift comes as the PGA Tour continues to look for ways to enhance the excitement and entertainment value of its events. The match-play format is known for its thrilling head-to-head competition, which could bring a new level of drama to the Tour Championship.
While the details of the proposed changes are still being finalized, the move to a match-play format would likely involve a bracket-style tournament with players facing off in one-on-one matches to determine the champion. This format could provide fans with more intense and strategic competition, as players battle it out on each hole to advance to the next round.
It remains to be seen if the PGA Tour will ultimately make the switch to a match-play format for the Tour Championship, but the potential change has already generated plenty of buzz among golf fans. Stay tuned for updates as the discussions progress and the future of the Tour Championship format is decided.
The Brooklyn Nets and Memphis Grizzlies are in “active discussions” on a trade involving Nets forward Dorian Finney-Smith, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.
Brooklyn would send Finney-Smith and a second-round pick to Memphis in exchange for John Konchar and Luke Kennard in the discussed deal, per Stein. The Nets are also “known to be seeking” a first-round pick from the Grizzlies in any deal involving the veteran swingman.
Stein previously listed Brooklyn as one of the teams interested in Konchar on Thursday.
Memphis is in the midst of a bounce-back 2024-25 season, sitting at No. 2 in the Western Conference standings with a 22-10 record. It’s easy to see why Grizzlies general manager Zach Kleiman is interested in adding an experienced veteran to the team’s core of Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane.
Finney-Smith has shown that he can be a reliable shooter on a contending team, as he has 35 playoff starts under his belt.
The 31-year-old has averaged 10.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while hitting 45.9 of his field goals and 43.5 percent of his three-point attempts this season.

The Nets hold the No. 12 spot in the Eastern Conference standings and have made it clear that they’re focused on building towards the future. Brooklyn traded 31-year-old point guard Dennis Schröder to the Golden State Warriors for a package that included De’Anthony Melton and three second-round picks on Dec. 14.
Konchar has averaged 2.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in 11.9 minutes per game to open his 2024-25 campaign in Memphis. Meanwhile, Kennard is recording 7.5 points and 2.9 assists per game on 42.3/44.4/82.6 shooting splits.

As the Grizzlies attempt to return to the playoffs after missing the postseason during an injury-plagued 2023-24 season, they’re reportedly negotiating a deal to land a veteran shooter to their starting lineup.
The Memphis Grizzlies are reportedly engaged in “active discussions” with the Brooklyn Nets regarding a potential trade for forward Dorian Finney-Smith. The Grizzlies are looking to bolster their roster as they make a push for the playoffs, and Finney-Smith could be a valuable addition to their lineup.
Finney-Smith, who is known for his defensive prowess and three-point shooting, would provide the Grizzlies with some much-needed depth on the wing. The 29-year-old is averaging 10.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game this season for the Nets.
While the details of the potential trade are still unclear, it is believed that the Grizzlies are willing to part with some of their young assets and draft picks in order to acquire Finney-Smith. The Nets, who are currently in the midst of a rebuild, could be looking to stockpile assets for the future.
