  • The Difference Between 100% and 122% sRGB Displays

The Difference Between 100% and 122% sRGB Displays

When it comes to shopping for a new monitor or laptop display, you may have come across terms like “100% sRGB” and “122% sRGB.” But what do these numbers really mean, and how do they affect your viewing experience?

To understand the difference between 100% and 122% sRGB displays, let’s first break down what sRGB is. sRGB is a standard color space that was created to ensure consistency in color reproduction across different devices, such as cameras, monitors, and printers. A display that covers 100% of the sRGB color space means that it can accurately reproduce all the colors within that standard.

On the other hand, a display that covers 122% of the sRGB color space means that it can reproduce colors beyond the standard range. This can result in more vibrant and saturated colors, making images and videos appear more lifelike and vivid.

So, in practical terms, what does this mean for your viewing experience? A 100% sRGB display is ideal for tasks that require accurate color reproduction, such as graphic design, photo editing, and video production. It ensures that the colors you see on the screen are true to life and match what you would see in print.

On the other hand, a 122% sRGB display is great for content consumption and gaming, where vibrant colors can enhance the visual experience. Images and videos will pop off the screen, and colors will be more saturated and eye-catching. However, it’s important to note that not all content is optimized for displays that go beyond the sRGB color space, so some colors may appear oversaturated or unrealistic.

Ultimately, the choice between a 100% and 122% sRGB display comes down to your specific needs and preferences. If color accuracy is crucial for your work, a 100% sRGB display may be the better option. If you prioritize vibrant and saturated colors for entertainment purposes, a 122% sRGB display may be more suitable.

In conclusion, the difference between 100% and 122% sRGB displays lies in their color reproduction capabilities. Understanding the implications of these numbers can help you make an informed decision when choosing a monitor or laptop display that best suits your needs.

Setting up multiple displays for your computer can greatly enhance your productivity and overall computing experience. Whether you’re a gamer, a designer, or just someone who likes to multitask, having multiple screens can make a big difference in how you work and play.

In this ultimate guide, we’ll show you how to set up two DisplayPort (DP) and two HDMI displays for your computer. This setup will give you a total of four screens to work with, allowing you to have multiple windows open at once, watch videos on one screen while working on another, or even game across multiple monitors.

First, you’ll need to make sure your computer has the necessary ports to support two DP and two HDMI displays. Most modern computers come with at least one DP and one HDMI port, but if yours doesn’t, you may need to invest in a graphics card that has multiple display outputs.

Once you’ve confirmed that your computer can support multiple displays, you’ll need to gather the necessary cables and adapters. For DP displays, you’ll need DP cables, and for HDMI displays, you’ll need HDMI cables. If your computer only has one DP port, you may need to invest in a DP splitter to connect two DP displays.

Next, you’ll need to configure your computer’s display settings. Right-click on your desktop and select “Display Settings” or “Screen Resolution” to access your display settings. From here, you can arrange your displays in the order you prefer, adjust the resolution and orientation of each display, and set your main display.

    Important Information:
Adding additional displays to your system is simple with MST Hubs; however, they are mostly dependent on your Graphics Card’s capability to operate properly. Please contact us if you’re not sure, before purchasing.
1)Make sure your DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort is DP v1.2 or later. This is the most important criteria. If you’re unsure, check with the video card or system manufacturer.
2)Mac OS does not support MST function and will only mirror the displays.
3)Install the latest drivers for your video card. Go directly to the system/video card manufacturer or chipset owner, such as AMD, Nvidia or Intel, to find the latest driver. Driver update through Device Manager may not retrieve the latest driver available.
4)MST hubs cannot increase the number displays a video card supports. Regardless of the number of display connectors built into your video card, each video card has a limited number of displays it can support. From our experience at the current time, AMD and NVIDIA video cards support up to 4 displays, while Intel supports up to 3. If you’re unsure, check with the video card or system manufacturer.
5)Refer to our bandwidth table to make sure additional displays can be accommodated. It’s important to note that if you use a 4K monitor to display in 1080p, there’s a possibility that the link still gets 4K bandwidth and reduces the overall bandwidth for the other displays.
6)To connect HDMI, DVI, VGA monitors to our DisplayPort/Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort MST Hubs, use ACTIVE converters, such as gofanco DPHDMIA-4K, DPDVIA, DPVGA.
7)The Microsoft Surface “Dock” is not compatible with Mini DisplayPort MST Hubs and should not be used when the Surface Dock is connected. They will work when directly connected to the Surface tablet/book.
8)Compatible Microsoft Surface Products: Surface Pro 2, Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 4, Surface Pro 5, Surface Book

*IMPORTANT NOTES* – 1) Mini DisplayPort 1.2 GPU/Graphics card required || 2) Requires GPU/Graphics card supporting more than 2 external displays || 3) Intel HD Graphics are limited to 3 external monitors altogether || 4) Not compatible with Microsoft Surface Dock || ** See Product Description for more important information. Contact us before purchasing if you are not sure about compatibility
2 EXTERNAL EXTENDED DISPLAYS – Connect two HDMI displays to your system through a single Mini DisplayPort 1.2 output; work as a splitter for mirror mode, extended mode, or expand mode; joining multiple screens together as one display
HIGH RESOLUTION – Supports up to 4K @30Hz. A Mini DisplayPort v1.2 output or later is required for full functionality. With DisplayPort v1.1 or earlier, the MST function is disabled and the hub becomes a Splitter, mirroring your video source across all displays
Eyefinity SUPPORT – Active converter ensures compatibility with AMD Eyefinity technology to support multi-screen SLS gaming and digital signage applications. Supports Windows PCs with no driver installation required. *Mac OS* does not support MST function and will only mirror the displays
