Bill Gates calls 2021 divorce the ‘mistake I most regret’
Microsoft co-founder and billionaire Bill Gates recently revealed that his divorce from ex-wife Melinda French Gates was his biggest regret.
In an interview with British newspaper The Times published Saturday, the tech mogul said it “was the mistake I most regret.” The philanthropic power couple announced the surprise split in May 2021 after 27 years of marriage.
“After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage,” they said in a joint statement posted to social media at the time. “Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives.”
Both Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates continued to co-chair the famous Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, one of the largest charitable institutions in the world, until she resigned last year. After the breakup, the 69-year-old lost their joint book club, his meditation buddy and walking partner.
“You would have to put that at the top of the list,” Gates told The Times. “There are others but none that matter. The divorce thing was miserable for me and Melinda for at least two years.”

Gates ‘disappointed’ when ex-wife announced resignation from foundation
Gates’ success was the result of a convergence of an “unbelievable number of things,” including his marriage to Melinda which kept him grounded, he told The Times.
The couple met in 1987 after French became a product manager at Microsoft and were seated next to each other at a business dinner in New York City. They were married seven years later in Hawaii. Melinda French Gates spent a decade developing multimedia products at Microsoft before leaving to focus on their family and philanthropy. The couple share three children together: Jennifer, Rory and Phoebe.
“There is a certain wonderfulness to spending your entire adult life with one person because of the memories and depth of things you have done and having kids together,” Gates told The Times. “When Melinda and I met, I was fairly successful but not ridiculously successful — that came during the time that we were together. So, she saw me through a lot.”
Gates said the divorce was “tough,” adding he was “disappointed” when she announced she would be leaving the foundation to pursue other philanthropic opportunities, reported The Times.
“Melinda and I still see each other — we have three kids and two grandchildren so there are family events,” he told The Times. “The kids are doing well. They have good values.”
Melinda French Gates, 60, under terms of an agreement with her ex-husband, would receive an additional $12.5 billion to fund charitable acts on behalf of women and families.
In 2015, Melinda French Gates started Pivotal Ventures, an investment and incubator to help solve problems facing women and families. Her book, “The Moment of Lift: How Empowering Women Changes the World,” was published in 2019.
Why did Bill and Melinda French Gates divorce?
Melinda French Gates opened up about the separation in a March 2022 interview with “CBS Mornings” anchor Gayle King, a year after the divorce announcement.
The Wall Street Journal reported Microsoft board members decided it wasn’t appropriate for Bill Gates to continue sitting on its board in 2020, while the board investigated his prior romantic relationship with a female Microsoft employee.
At the time, the outlet claimed an unnamed spokeswoman for Gates acknowledged he had an affair almost two decades prior, and that it ended “amicably.”
When King asked Gates about the alleged infidelity, she responded:
“Well, I certainly believe in forgiveness, so I thought we had worked through some of that,” she said. “It wasn’t one moment or one specific thing that happened. There just came a point in time where there was enough there that I realized it just wasn’t healthy, and I couldn’t trust what we had.”

Christina Haack Reveals Insults Ex Josh Hall Called Her Before Divorce
Originally appeared on E! Online
Some fixer-uppers are beyond repair, even for Christina Haack.
The interior designer shed new light into her marriage problems with ex Josh Hall during the season premiere of her hew HGTV reality competition series The Flip Off.
After breaking the news about her and Josh’s divorce to her first ex-husband Tarek El Moussa, Christina revealed the retired police officer had a not-so-pleasant side behind closed doors before they broke up for good last summer after two years of marriage.
“He doesn’t like me,” Christina—who shares children Taylor, 14, and Brayden, 9, with Tarek, as well as son Hudson, 5, with second ex-husband Ant Anstead—told her ex during the Jan. 29 episode. “He calls me cocky. He thinks I’m arrogant, when we both know I’m not cocky or arrogant and I just do work.”
Tarek tried comforting his ex during the emotional heart-to-heart, telling her, “You’re not any other those things. He’s projecting. You’re a great mother, a great daughter. You are a great human.”
But Christina wasn’t the only one who witnessed Josh’s temper.
“The kids literally asked me to leave,” she recalled to Tarek. “They told me he’s not nice to me.”
More from E! Online
The 41-year-old also told Tarek that Josh “would not speak to me for two or three days” at times during their marriage because Josh was “insecure” around him.
Christina then broke down in tears while reflecting on going through three divorces in less than a decade.
“I feel like I’m in a tornado all the time and I just can’t get out of it,” she cried to Tarek. “Everything since like 2016 has been so hard and so horrible. It’s really taken a really bad toll on me. There’s so many good things but there’s so many bad things and it’s taken a really bad toll on me.”
“I feel like I try to hide it and act like I’m not affected,” she continued, “but then I just do more stupid things to try to make myself feel better and then I keep doing it and getting into things too fast that I know aren’t right.”
In a confessional, the Christina on the Coast star shared her insecurities over her past relationship failures.
“I never wanted to get divorced,” she admitted. “I’m the only person in my family to ever get a divorce. So I just feel like it’s safer to be back in a relationship, but ultimately that was not safe either.”
As for Tarek, he only had one question in the wake of Christina and Josh’s split: Was she still willing to compete against him and wife Heather Rae El Moussa in their Flip Off house renovation competition without a partner by her side?
“Yes, I’m still gonna do it,” she confirmed. “And I’m gonna do it better. I have more time now. I lost Josh but you know what? He doesn’t really know what he’s doing with flipping.”
See the drama play out when The Flip Off airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on HGTV. And read on for a full breakdown of Christina and Josh’s relationship and breakup.

Kevin Costner’s ex engaged to family friend nearly one year after finalizing divorce with ‘Yellowstone’ star
Kevin Costner‘s ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner, is reportedly off the market.
The purse designer, who finalized her divorce from the “Yellowstone” star in February 2024, is engaged to financier Joshua Connor, according to People magazine.
Romance rumors between Baumgartner and Connor sparked in July 2023 when the couple was spotted on vacation in Hawaii.
KEVIN COSTNER’S STILL ‘CHASING THE COWBOY LIFE’ AS HE TURNS 70
Nearly one year later, the pair confirmed their relationship while walking hand-in-hand together in Santa Barbara, California, shortly after she finalized her divorce with Costner.
Connor reportedly proposed after an intimate dinner in Santa Barbara, California. “It was about to rain, so almost no one else was on the beach when Josh got down on one knee,” a source told the outlet.
Representatives for Costner did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Baumgartner filed for divorce on May 1, 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. In documents obtained by Fox News Digital, Christine cited April 11 as the date of separation.
She initially requested $248,000 in monthly child support for their three children, and a judge set a temporary monthly sum of $129,755 in July, only to rule in September that Costner would be responsible for $63,209 in monthly child support payments.
Connor’s name became a focal point during Baumgartner and Costner’s child custody payment hearing last year when Costner’s legal team called into question a $20,000 loan from a “boyfriend” who they named as Josh.

Fox News Digital was in the courthouse when Baumgarter took the stand and said Connor was a longtime friend of “seven or eight years.” When Rydell asked, “Is he your boyfriend?” Baumgartner replied, “No.”
She recalled traveling to Hawaii in March with Connor and his daughter, and a group of friends. Costner didn’t go because “he wanted to do a speech with a hunting club.” The Costners paid for the vacation home where the families stayed.
On July, Baumgartner traveled back to Hawaii with a group of friends and their children, including Connor and his daughter, who is “best friends” with Grace Costner, 13. Baumgartner said Connor “paid for the house.”
When Rydell asked about claims Connor “gave Christine money,” she said, “I can’t remember if it was before or after (the March or July trips to Hawaii.)” She continued, “He gave me $20,000.”
Of the $20,000, the purse designer said, “I gave $10,000 to my mother.” She then became emotional on the stand. “She was concerned about her house,” Baumgartner noted.

Kevin Costner’s ex-wife Christine Baumgartner engaged to family friend one year after divorce
Yellowstone star Kevin Costner’s ex-wife Christine Baumgartner is engaged, less than one year after the couple’s divorce.
The pair, who have three children together, finalised the end of their marriage in February last year, after over 18 years together. Baumgartner filed for divorce in May 2023, citing “irreconcilable differences” and listing their date of separation as 11 April 2023. Costner described the event as a “crushing moment”.
Handbag designer Baumgartner, 50, has since moved on with family friend and neighbour Josh Connor. They were first spotted together in Hawaii in July 2023, prompting speculation of a romance.
Last weekend, Connor is said to have gotten down on one knee in Santa Barbara.
“It was about to rain, so almost no one else was on the beach when Josh got down on one knee,” a source close to the couple told People.
Baumgartner is said to have been shocked by the financier’s proposal, expecting an intimate dinner instead.
“They spent Christmas in New York together last month, where it all began,” said the source. “They are both over the moon and excited for their future together.”
Connor was dragged into the couple’s legal battle during a child support hearing in August 2023 where an attorney reiterated that the couple were friends and “nothing more than that.”
The pair’s friendship is said to have been the foundation for their blossoming relationship, with a source reporting in December: “Christine and Josh’s relationship started as a friendship, so they have a really strong foundation.
“They share the same values, and she feels so happy and supported in this new relationship.”They’re so in love. It’s been a very natural and positive step forward for Christine.”
Speaking about the split in an CBS interview in June last year, Costner told Gayle King about his divorce: “That’s a crushing moment. It’s powerful. It hurt, but I go forward.”
He acknowledged that he has “no choice” but to move on, since his children are watching him. “I can’t wilt like a daisy,” Costner continued. “I have to go forward. I have to continue to be who I am, and keep a special eye on who [my children] are.”
Kevin Costner’s ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner, is making headlines once again as she recently got engaged to a family friend just one year after her divorce from the Hollywood actor.Baumgartner, who was married to Costner for 16 years before their divorce in 2020, has found love once again with a longtime friend of the family. The couple reportedly started dating earlier this year and quickly realized they were meant to be together.
The news of Baumgartner’s engagement comes as a surprise to many, as she and Costner were once considered one of Hollywood’s power couples. However, it seems that both parties have moved on and found happiness in their respective relationships.
While Costner has not publicly commented on his ex-wife’s engagement, sources close to the actor say that he is supportive of her and wishes her nothing but the best in this new chapter of her life.
Congratulations to Christine Baumgartner and her fiancé on their engagement! We wish them a lifetime of love and happiness.

Jeezy, Jeannie Mai Divorce Still Messy, Police Get Involved
If you thought the mess between rapper Jeezy and his ex-wife Jeannie Mai was going to stay in 2024, then boy, do we have news for you. Unfortunately, it may not be news you’re going to like.
In new court documents obtained by InStyle on Friday, it appears the two got embroiled into yet another dispute back in December 2024 that reportedly ended up with police getting called. The impetus? An alleged pre-scheduled visit to Jeezy’s house in Georgia that a judge allowed via court order for Mai to retrieve boxes with her last things in them like handbags, shoes, her Emmys and other trophies and more that were reportedly inside the garage.
However, when she was there, she was refused entry by the house manager “on the orders of Jeezy.” His reason for doing so allegedly stemmed from his concerns over letting the former host of “The Real” into their home for fear that she’d plant “listening devices or cameras” and Mai’s alleged previous attempts at “destroying [Jeezy’s] career with misleading information.”
“[Jeannie] is angry about the parties divorce and she is revengeful. In addition, the mere presence of [Jeannie] inside [Jeezy’s] home and personal space, after the highly contested nature of the divorce case, would absolutely destroy [Jeezy’s] peace and tranquility, as well as invade his privacy,” the rapper’s lawyers said in the documents.
However, Mai is pushing back against those claims and is arguing that the “Put On” artist had previously agreed to let her come to the house to pick up her things and knew exactly when she was planning to pull up. Upon her arrival, that’s when he switched up and violated the terms of the court order by not allowing her or her movers to get her things. As a result, the Atlanta police were were called and later arrived at the home in attempt to resolve the issue.
InStyle with more:
“When the police officer informed the house manager that a court order was, in fact, being violated, the house manager then had to shift gears and create a new barrier to entry. Next, the house manager, at the direction of [Jeezy], refused to allow anyone on behalf of [Jeannie] to enter the home unless they signed a nondisclosure agreement. To note, there is nothing in the court order that states any language regarding a nondisclosure agreement,” Mai’s lawyer wrote.
Fortunately, Mai was able to get her things, but multiple boxes were damaged with water and showed proof that a rodent had eaten through them. Several of her trophies were also allegedly scratched up and/or broken.
This news comes just four months after Mai blasted her ex for allegedly unfulfilled settlement requirements back in September 2024. The former couple’s divorce was settled earlier that summer.
It seems like the divorce between rapper Jeezy and TV host Jeannie Mai is still far from amicable, as police had to get involved in their messy split. Reports have surfaced that tensions between the former couple have escalated to the point where law enforcement had to intervene. The details of what exactly transpired leading up to the police involvement have not been disclosed, but it’s clear that the situation is not a smooth one. Jeezy and Jeannie Mai announced their split back in 2020, just a year after getting engaged.
Fans of the couple are shocked by the turn of events, as many had hoped for a peaceful resolution to their relationship. It remains to be seen how the divorce proceedings will play out, but it’s clear that things are far from being resolved between Jeezy and Jeannie Mai. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

Christina Haack (formerly known as Christina Hall) is feeling like her old self again! The HGTV star shared that she had officially changed her last name back amid her ongoing divorce from Josh Hall.
“Officially a Haack,” Christina, 41, wrote alongside a photo of the legal paperwork on January 25. “Identifying as only married twice. Time to update the Wikipedia.”
The Flip Off star married Josh, 44, in 2022, but two years later, they decided to part ways. Josh was the first to file for divorce on July 15, 2024, and Christina followed suit hours later. It didn’t take long for the divorce to become messy and a little over a week later, the Christina in the Country host claimed that Josh had diverted “over $35,000” from the bank account she used for her rental properties without her knowledge.
“I am asking for Josh to account for the funds taken and return them to me as those funds are specifically used to pay any loans, obligations, property taxes, insurance, and maintenance for these rental properties,” the court documents read, per Entertainment Tonight.
In response, Josh claimed that he had used the money to pay for expenses relating to the rental properties and stated he had previously been responsible for the bills connected with that home. Christina ultimately agreed to pay Josh $100,000 to use for his legal expenses.
Josh eventually broke his silence regarding his split from the Christina on the Coast star via Instagram in August 2024.
“I will not publicly badmouth anyone as people have families, friends and others who respect and love them. Unfortunately, the internet is forever,” Josh wrote on August 3, 2024. “We are real humans, this is our life and I am not here to entertain people I don’t know with my private matters. Those details will be handled fairly behind closed doors with our respective counsels in due time. Those who know each of us, know who we are.”
Less than a week later, Christina gave fans an update of her own via her Instagram Stories.
“I finally have my appetite back. I’m exercising again. My kids are happy and our house feels like home. Those poor kids adore me … anyone who knows us for real knows this and that’s what matters,” Christina wrote on August 9, 2024. “I’ve had some of my best nights with friends recently … laughed more than I have in forever. Work is going so good it feels like a dream. I have a life coach.”
The former spouses have continued to throw digs at one another on social media, including Christina documenting the removal of an infinity symbol tattooed on her wrist that was inspired by her relationship with the Texas real estate agent.
“4th times a charm (when it comes to tattoo removal),” Christina wrote alongside a video of the tattoo removal she shared via Instagram Stories on January 21. “Burns so good.”
She set the video to Sabrina Carpenter’s song “Feather,” which is about how much lighter someone can feel after ending a relationship.
Christina Haack, formerly known as Christina Anstead, has officially restored her maiden name in the wake of her divorce from estranged husband Josh Hall.In a recent Instagram post, the HGTV star announced that she is now officially a “Haack” once again, reclaiming her original surname after her brief marriage to Hall.
Haack, who shares two children with her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa and one child with her ex-husband Ant Anstead, has been open about her struggles and triumphs in love and relationships. She recently announced her split from Hall after less than a year of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.
Despite the challenges she has faced in her personal life, Haack remains optimistic and resilient. She has expressed gratitude for her children, her career, and the support of her fans during this difficult time.
As she moves forward with her life and her career, Haack is embracing her identity as a Haack once again, symbolizing a fresh start and a renewed sense of self.
Fans and followers have flooded her social media with messages of support and encouragement, applauding her for her strength and resilience in the face of adversity.
We wish Christina Haack all the best as she embarks on this new chapter in her life, and we look forward to seeing her continue to thrive and inspire others with her journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

The battle ended on May 16, 2012, with her suicide by hanging at their home in Bedford, New York.
During that stretch, RFK Jr., who has been nominated by President Donald Trump to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, secretly recorded telephone and in-person conversations he had with Richardson, and in at least one instance he may have violated state law in doing so.
Mother Jones has obtained a cache of these audio recordings that include more than 60 conversations that occurred in 2011 and early 2012. In many of the recordings, Richardson was distraught over the end of her marriage to Kennedy. Sometimes she bitterly lashed out at him, cursing and yelling; occasionally she asked for reconciliation. Knowing he was recording, Kennedy was decidedly more circumspect than was she. He often pressed her to complete the divorce and blamed her behavior for their breakup and his affairs. In none of the recordings did Kennedy inform Richardson that she was being recorded or ask for her consent to be recorded.
In one angry conversation on June 4, 2011, Kennedy, who had married Richardson in 1994 after his first divorce, said to her, “I want to be in a monogamous relationship. I don’t want to be in a polygamous relationship. I think that’s wrong.” Richardson then asked, “But then why have you done it for 10 years?” Kennedy replied, “I did it because I was being abused at home.” (Mother Jones is not publishing the recordings because they contain allegations we have not confirmed and information about third parties that raises privacy concerns.)
Kennedy did not respond to multiple requests for comment regarding the recordings.
Most of the recordings were apparently made while both Kennedy and Richardson were in New York state, which is a one-party consent state when it comes to recording a conversation. That means under New York state law only one person in the conversation needs to be aware of the recording for it to be a legal act.
But in one instance, Kennedy recorded a phone conversation with Richardson when he was apparently in California, which is a two-party consent state. Under California law, a person needs the agreement of all parties to a conversation to record a private call. Violating this law is punishable by a fine up to $2,500 and a prison sentence of up to one year.
This call occurred on June 14, 2011. That week, Kennedy was in Los Angeles for the premiere of The Last Mountain, a documentary on mountaintop removal mining based partly on a 2005 book by Kennedy. During that eight-minute-long call, the two argued, as Kennedy pleaded with her to sign a custody agreement, and Richardson aired her grievances about him and asked him to avoid having their 16-year-old son, Conor, publicly photographed with actor Cheryl Hines, Kennedy’s girlfriend whom he later married. On the audio file of this call, Kennedy did not inform Richardson the conversation was being recorded.
The violation of two-party consent in California is a criminal misdemeanor, but it can also be cause for a civil lawsuit. In general, the statute of limitations in California for a criminal misdemeanor is one year. In cases in which one of the participants in a recorded conversation is in a one-party consent state and another in California, according to Conn Law, a California-based law firm specializing in privacy rights, “California courts typically favor the two-party consent law, meaning that when one party is in California, the stricter rule applies.”
Kennedy’s recordings of his conversations with Richardson were covered by a discovery request in the divorce case, according to a person familiar with the legal proceedings, but none of this material was turned over to Richardson’s attorneys.
At one point during the divorce, Richardson came to suspect that Kennedy was making secret recordings.
As part of the legal proceedings, Kennedy filed a sealed, 60-page affidavit loaded with allegations of misconduct by Richardson. It accused Richardson of violent outbursts, excessive drinking, physically abusing him, and threatening suicide in front of their children. In March 2012, months after this affidavit was filed, Richardson, with the assistance of her sisters Martha and Nan Richardson, compiled a point-by-point draft rebuttal to Kennedy’s affidavit.
This document was obtained by Mother Jones, and its authenticity was confirmed by a Richardson family member. In this draft, Richardson stated that Kennedy “has been stealthily tape recording phone conversations in my home.” She also claimed Kennedy “has left his affidavits, transcripts of surreptitiously recorded phone conversations and other documents strewn about for anyone to see.”
The draft accused Kennedy of waging a “scorched earth” campaign against Richardson, and it presented a host of allegations against Kennedy, including the claims that he was a lousy parent, that he misled her about the extent of his infidelity, that he was physically abusive with her, and that he was abusing prescription medicine. She referred to him as a “sexual deviant” and a sex addict, and the document noted she possessed text messages and photographs from Kennedy’s phone related to his affairs.
The draft document described many episodes in their troubled marriage. Richardson acknowledged some of her own faults and recalled a time when she lost her temper and hit Kennedy. But she denied many of the allegations in Kennedy’s affidavit and said she had never talked about killing herself in front of the children.
She also included many negative assessments of her estranged husband. “I have witnessed Bobby’s obsessive-compulsive need to not only beat but also annihilate someone he perceives as an adversary,” she said. She also challenged his veracity: “He is also well known for his passionate, entertaining speech making, hyperbole and total exaggeration.” She added, “He re-jiggers the facts, or makes them up, and rushes to tell as many people as he can so that is the version of reality that gets distributed in people’s minds—classic gaslighting.” She asserted that Kennedy had sold “the media the lie of his perfect family.”
Kennedy did not respond to questions about this document.
There was much anger and sadness—as well as sordid accusations—in Richardson’s draft reply to Kennedy’s affidavit. “I have carried the burden of Bobby and his family’s most intimate secrets since I was fifteen,” she wrote.
Richardson never filed in court a version of this document. Two months later, she was dead.
In a shocking revelation, it has been reported that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. secretly recorded his second wife during their divorce proceedings and admitted to being “polygamous.” The details of this scandal have recently emerged, shedding light on the tumultuous relationship between the couple.According to sources, RFK Jr. recorded his second wife without her knowledge, capturing private conversations and potentially using them as leverage in their divorce proceedings. This unethical behavior has raised serious concerns about the former environmental activist and attorney’s character.
In addition to the recordings, RFK Jr. reportedly acknowledged being “polygamous” during a deposition, suggesting that he had multiple romantic relationships during his marriage.
