  • Cryer, Sheen “Don’t Have a Relationship Anymore”

    Posted in: CBS, TV | Tagged: , , ,

Two and a Half Men star Jon Cryer on what led to Charlie Sheen’s firing, Sheen’s reboot pitch, and the chances of working together again.

No one can ever deny Jon Cryer’s longevity in Hollywood, but despite his lasting cultural impact as Ducky in the John Hughes classic Pretty in Pink, Lenny in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987), Arrowverse’s Lex Luthor, his latest series Extended Family or the 70+ other titles he’s been in, the question always lurks with his Hot Shots! (1991) and Two and a Half Men co-star Charlie Sheen. While promoting his podcastThe Man Who Calculated Death, the actor appeared on Bill Maher‘s self-described non-political podcast, Club Random, to break down his life and career, especially their disagreements about what went wrong in the 2024 election.

Two and a Half Men Star Jon Cryer on What Led to Charlie Sheen’s Exit

The discussion begins at the one hour, 15-minute mark when Maher bluntly asks, “What’s your relationship with Charlie now?” Cryer responded with, “I don’t know. We don’t have a relationship anymore” while acknowledging that Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre and Sheen have since reconciled with the actor’s appearances on his Max sports comedy series Bookie.

Cryer said that Sheen’s meltdown was primarily linked to him breaking his sobriety as an addict, which in part was due to his failing marriage. “Yeah and he was proud of his sobriety, incredibly charming, smart, and great at what he does. He’s absolutely a wonderful comedian, gifted with his timing. I loved working with him. We had a great time. You know, after his marriage went south with Denise [Richards], clearly he was using again. On the show, he was still very professional, he was good to work with, but what happened was: that he started to have these things happen. He got arrested at the Plaza Hotel for trashing the room. He got arrested in Colorado for fighting with his wife. I don’t know what happened.”

Cryer affirmed Sheen’s sobriety during TAAHM’s early seasons when the Real Time host pressed him. Maher admitted he was shocked that Sheen was still getting offers like the Super Bowl ad during his series meltdown. “Because oddly, [Charlie] has a brand. He has the brand that’s him, and that’s one of the reasons why Trump gets away with what he gets away with…with Charlie, what happened with the show was he fell off the wagon, and they were doing all these kinds of things to sort work around it,” Cryer explained. “He was missing days on the set. He would still show up on Friday night; he knew his lines, he was ready to go, and he could do the show, but he was barely functioning. Chuck, who’s been very upfront about his own struggles with alcohol, was confronting him and saying, ‘You need help. You have to do something.’ Charlie said, ‘No, I don’t.’”

When Maher asked if Cryer sees himself reuniting with Sheen, the actor recalled the awkward time when Sheen pitched A Two and a Half Men reboot after the original series run wrapped with Ashton Kutcher. When Cryer turned Sheen’s offer down, that was when Sheen summarily threw his co-star under the bus on social media, which dissolved their friendship. “I wish him nothing but the best; I won’t do anything regularly with him. If it was a one-off, sure.” Maher is convinced the “magic will come back” and things will be back to normal like Lorre patched things with Sheen since money would be the driving force. It seems like the friendship between actors Jon Cryer and Charlie Sheen has come to an end. Cryer recently revealed in an interview that he and Sheen “don’t have a relationship anymore.”

The two actors famously starred together in the hit sitcom “Two and a Half Men,” where their on-screen chemistry was praised by fans and critics alike. However, behind the scenes, their relationship seems to have soured over the years.

Cryer did not go into specifics about what caused the rift between him and Sheen, but he did mention that they no longer keep in touch or have any sort of relationship outside of work.

It’s always sad to hear about friendships ending, especially when they have such a long history like Cryer and Sheen’s. Fans of the two actors will surely be disappointed to hear that they are no longer on speaking terms.

Despite the end of their friendship, both Cryer and Sheen have continued to have successful careers in Hollywood. Hopefully, they can both move on from this chapter and focus on their respective projects.

  • Some of Trump’s Inauguration Acts Tell Fans: Please Don’t Hate Us

    • Nelly, Village People, and Carrie Underwood are among acts set to perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration.
    • They’ve all faced backlash from fans.
    • All three have responded to criticism for accepting Trump’s invitation to perform.

Donald Trump’s return to the White House is putting some pop stars in a tricky position: performing for him while placating their fans.

Some of the acts performing at events around his inauguration are squarely in line with MAGA, just like their fans.

A minority, though, are in a less comfortable spot — and have released public statements seeking to explain their position.

Carrie Underwood, Village People, and Nelly have released statements defending their decision to perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration, saying it shouldn’t be mistaken for an endorsement.

Carrie Underwood said she was ‘honored’ Trump’s team asked her to perform

Underwood, who told The Guardian in 2019 that she tried “to stay far out of politics if possible,” was among the first performers to be announced for Trump’s swearing-in ceremony on Monday.

Underwood told Business Insider via a representative on Tuesday: “I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”

During a 50-minute livestreamed conversation with the rapper and YouTuber Willie D about performing at the inauguration, Nelly compared his decision to that of someone in the military serving a president they did not support.

He is due to appear at the Liberty Ball on Monday.

“I’m not doing this for money. I’m doing this because it’s an honor,” he said. “I respect the office. It don’t matter who is in office the same way that our men and women, our brothers and sisters who protect this country, have to go to war, and have to put their life on the line for whoever in office.”

It’s unclear what, if anything, acts get paid for performing at such events.

Inaugurations are expensive, with Trump’s 2017 committee raising an unprecedented $107 million. Erik Smith, the creative director for Barack Obama’s 2009 and 2013 inaugurations, told Billboard in 2021 that artists were not paid when he was on the committee.

“You get one hotel room and two tickets,” he said.

Nelly argued that the performance wasn’t a political act because Trump won the election and was no longer campaigning.

“Performing for somebody and voting for somebody are two different things,” he said. “Endorsing people is two different things.”

Village People said refusing Trump’s invitation wouldn’t help the group

Village People, whose “Y.M.C.A.” has been an indelible part of Trump’s campaign rallies for years, are also on the billing.

They’ve had a seesawing relationship with Trump’s enthusiasm for their music, extending to an (unsuccessful) cease-and-desist letter in 2023.

Then came an about-face. In December 2024, Victor Willis, the writer of the song, said in a Facebook post that he let Trump use “Y.M.C.A.” because Trump was a fan.

After they were confirmed as performers for the inauguration, Village People wrote on Facebook on January 13: “Our song Y.M.C.A. is a global anthem that hopefully helps bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost.”

On Thursday, Willis wrote on Facebook that the performance wasn’t an endorsement and that the band supported Kamala Harris.

“If our preferred candidate (Kamala Harris), had won, Village People would never have been invited to perform at her inauguration. She would have chosen the likes of John Legend and Beyonce, etc,” he wrote.

“But now that President Trump has been elected, Village People are suppose to tow the line and say no to an invitation to perform? How does that benefit Village People? It does not. It’s simply hatred from one political perspective,” he added.

Critics argued it is jarring for Village People, widely associated with LGBTQ+ culture, to perform for a politician who is open about his intentions to roll back trans rights and who was accused of weakening protections for LGBTQ+ people in his first term.

In December, Willis wrote on Facebook that “Y.M.C.A” was not a gay anthem after all — simply a song about the Young Men’s Christian Association, like the title and lyrics say.

On Thursday, Willis said that Trump helped get “Y.M.C.A” back on the Billboard charts and that the LGBTQ+ and African American communities had done little to boost the group recently.

On January 20th, 2017, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States. While his inauguration was met with mixed reactions, there were some moments during the ceremony that seemed to send a message to his supporters: Please don’t hate us.

One notable moment was when Trump and his wife Melania shared their first dance as President and First Lady to Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.” The choice of song seemed to be a plea to his supporters to trust in his leadership and believe that he would do things his own way, despite any criticism or opposition.

Another moment that seemed to convey this message was when Trump reached out to hold Melania’s hand as they walked down the stairs of the Capitol building. This simple gesture of affection and unity seemed to be a plea for unity and support from his fans, despite any disagreements or controversies.

Overall, Trump’s inauguration was a mix of pomp and circumstance, but there were subtle moments that seemed to say to his supporters: Please don’t hate us. Only time will tell if his presidency will be able to win over the hearts and minds of the American people.

  • Will Biden Grant Leonard Peltier Clemency? Indigenous Leaders Plead, “Don’t Let Him Die in Prison”

This is a rush transcript. Copy may not be in its final form.

AMY GOODMAN: This is Democracy Now!, democracynow.org, The War and Peace Report. I’m Amy Goodman.

There are just days left in President Biden’s term. He has made history today, granting thousands of commutations, clemency overall, pardons in his last weeks. The question is: Will he grant clemency to Leonard Peltier? Over 120 tribal leaders are calling on Biden to grant the Indigenous leader Leonard Peltier clemency as one of his final acts in office. In a letter to Biden, the tribal leaders write, quote, “Our standing in the world as a champion of freedom, justice, and human rights cannot be maintained in a system that allows Leonard Peltier to die in prison.”

Leonard Peltier recently turned 80 years old. He spent the majority of his life, nearly half a century, in prison. For decades, he and his supporters have maintained Peltier’s innocence over the 1975 killing of two FBI agents in a shootout on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota and say his conviction was riddled with irregularities and prosecutorial misconduct. The federal government has been repeatedly accused of failing to prove its case against Peltier.

The former U.S. Attorney James Reynolds, who was a federal prosecutor for the District of South Dakota and was involved in Peltier’s prosecution, wrote to Biden in 2021 advocating for Peltier’s release. This is Reynolds reading a portion of that letter in a recent video produced by Preston Randolph.

JAMES REYNOLDS: President Joe Biden, I write today from a position rare for a former prosecutor, to beseech you to commute the sentence of a man who I helped to put behind bars. Leonard Peltier’s conviction and continued incarceration is a testament in a time and system of justice that no longer has a place in our society. We were not able to prove that Mr. Peltier personally committed any offense on the reservation. As a result to Mr. Peltier’s conviction, now arrest, is that he was guilty of a murder simply because he was present on the reservation that day. He has served time for more than 46 years on the hands of minimal evidence, a result I strongly doubt would be upheld in any court today. I believe that a grant of executive clemency would serve the best interest of justice and the best interest of our country.

AMY GOODMAN: For more, we go to Rapid City, South Dakota, where we’re joined by Nick Tilsen, founder and CEO of NDN Collective. Tilsen is among the more than 120 tribal leaders who issued a letter to Biden earlier this month as they continue to plead for Peltier’s freedom, who’s imprisoned in Florida right now.

Nick Tilsen, we only have a few minutes. Have you met with the pardon board?

NICK TILSEN: We actually met with the pardon attorney, Liz Oyer. We met with the pardon attorney at the Department of Justice headquarters in December with tribal leaders from around the country and talked specifically about Leonard Peltier and what this would mean for Indian Country. And she was the one who was actually drafting the recommendation, because there will be a recommendation that goes from the Department of Justice to the president’s desk. And now that recommendation has been made and is sitting on the desk of the president right now. And he will make a decision in — you know, today or tomorrow, in the coming days, whether he’s going to grant clemency to Leonard Peltier. And we don’t know — we don’t know exactly what the recommendation is, but when we left that meeting, all of the tribal leaders, we felt like — we felt like she was going to bring justice to Leonard Peltier, and we felt like it was going to be a recommendation for his release. And then the decision lies on — the decision lies on the president.

AMY GOODMAN: So, what did the pardon attorney tell you?

NICK TILSEN: The pardon attorney told us that they knew the case inside and out, that they — that one of the primary focuses of this particular meeting that we were sitting in is that the section of the recommendation that she wanted to work on was what this would mean for Indian Country, what this would mean for Indian Country if Leonard Peltier was released. And we talked in depth, that the president of United States issued an apology for the boarding schools, and that it so happens to be that America’s longest-incarcerated Indigenous political prisoner in history is, in fact, a boarding school survivor, and that we need to see action from the president, and that this is also an issue that will help illuminate many of the other good things that the Biden administration has done for Indian people. And so, they confirmed — she confirmed that, in fact, there was for sure going to be a written recommendation, and it was going to for sure go on to the president of the United States, and he was going to make a decision before he leaves office.

AMY GOODMAN: What is Leonard Peltier’s condition in the Florida prison?

NICK TILSEN: Leonard is 80% blind in one eye. He has type 2 diabetes. He’s in a walker. He has an aortic aneurysm. His health is deteriorating. And that facility, quite frankly, doesn’t even have the capability to meet his medical needs. And so, it’s absolutely a dire situation. And we need to get Leonard out of that prison, back home and able to see a doctor almost immediately upon his release.

AMY GOODMAN: Can you tell me if the first-ever U.S. cabinet — Native American cabinet member, Deb Haaland, the former congressmember from New Mexico, has weighed in?

NICK TILSEN: She has weighed in directly to the president. On Air Force One from Washington, D.C., to Arizona, when the announcement was going to be made for the apology for the boarding schools, she weighed in then. She’s weighed in several times. And at this point in time, the president of the United States needs to listen to this matriarch and needs to listen to Secretary Deb Haaland, and because this is a priority for Indian Country. And this is a perfect opportunity for the president of the United States to listen to the honorable Secretary Haaland. And she has weighed in. She has not weighed in publicly, but she has weighed in directly to the president as the secretary of the Department of Interior.

AMY GOODMAN: I wanted to play a clip from — oh, it was over 10 years ago, when I talked to Leonard Peltier in prison on the phone at the time. It was President Obama who was in office.

AMY GOODMAN: Leonard, this is Amy Goodman from Democracy Now! I was —

LEONARD PELTIER: Oh, hi, Amy. How are you?

AMY GOODMAN: Hi. I’m good. I was wondering if you have a message for President Obama?

LEONARD PELTIER: I just hope he can, you know, stop the wars that are going on in this world, and stop getting — killing all those people getting killed, and, you know, give the Black Hills back to my people, and turn me loose.

AMY GOODMAN: It was very interesting, Nick Tilsen, as we break away from that interview — people can hear the whole interview at democracynow.org — that when I asked him to comment, he didn’t comment first on his own case. He talked about stopping the wars. If you can, in this last 30 seconds that we have, talk about what it would mean for Native America, for Indian Country, for this country overall, for Leonard Peltier to be granted clemency?

NICK TILSEN: You know, all throughout, the history of the treatment of Indian people by the United States government has been one of injustice. And the reality is, how Leonard Peltier was treated in his prosecution and incarceration is consistent with how this country has treated Indian people. And that’s why all of us see a little bit of ourselves in Leonard Peltier, and that’s why we fight so hard for him. So this is about Leonard’s freedom, but this is about justice for Indian people everywhere. This is about human rights for people everywhere. This is about paving a path forward that gives us the opportunity to have justice and begin to heal the relationship between the United States government and Indian people. And so, this decision is massive. And I really hope that the president of United States weighs this decision. If he releases Leonard Peltier, he will be forever known the president who did that. And American —

AMY GOODMAN: Native American activist Nick Tilsen, we’re going to leave it there, founder and CEO of NDN Collective. Thank you so much. That does it for our show. Democracy Now! produced with Renée Feltz, Anjali Kamat, Mike Burke. I’m Amy Goodman.

As the Biden administration settles into office, the question on many minds is whether President Biden will grant clemency to Leonard Peltier, a Native American activist who has been serving a life sentence for the past 45 years. Peltier, a member of the American Indian Movement, was convicted of the murders of two FBI agents during a shootout on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in 1975.

Since his conviction, Peltier has maintained his innocence and been a symbol of Native American resistance and perseverance. Indigenous leaders across the country have been calling on President Biden to grant clemency to Peltier, arguing that he is a political prisoner who has been unjustly incarcerated for decades.

As Peltier’s health deteriorates in prison, supporters fear that he may die behind bars if action is not taken soon. In a recent letter to President Biden, leaders of the National Congress of American Indians urged him to “correct this historic wrong and grant clemency to Mr. Peltier before it is too late.”

The case of Leonard Peltier has long been a point of contention and controversy, with many believing that he did not receive a fair trial and that his continued imprisonment is a grave injustice. As calls for clemency grow louder, the ball is now in President Biden’s court. Will he heed the pleas of Indigenous leaders and grant Leonard Peltier the freedom he has been fighting for? Only time will tell.

  • ‘Hard work, don’t look at the clock’: Early role model for Eagles defensive coordinator speaks to 69 News | Lehigh Valley Regional News

PHILADELPHIA – The Eagles are getting set to take on the Rams in the NFL playoffs Sunday afternoon.

Vic Fangio, Philly’s defensive coordinator, grew up in Dunmore, in Lackawanna County, about 80 miles up the turnpike from the Lehigh Valley.

He also studied coaching at East Stroudsburg University before his nearly four decades as a coach in the NFL.

Vic Fangio’s story starts and continues in Pennsylvania. Fangio commuted to East Stroudsburg University to take coaching classes and pick the brain of coaching legend Denny Douds.

“He didn’t play here, but he would stop in the office, he would talk football, he was tough-minded,” Douds said.

Fangio has been a coach in the NFL for the better part of four decades, primarily leading a team’s defense, turning the Eagles D into a powerhouse in just one season.

“Hard work, don’t look at the clock, mental toughness, common traits of him too,” said Douds.

Although it’s been four decades, Douds says Fangio still visits East Stroudsburg.

“His sister, and her husband and kids, live here in town,” said Douds. “So from time to time, he sneaks into town and visits his sister too.”

Coach Douds isn’t giving us a prediction on this weekend’s game, but he is offering this observation.

“(Fangio) is a tough out. When you play the Eagles, they’ve got a great offense. But he put together a defense that was tops in the league,” Douds said. “The one they can’t afford is the mistakes.”

In a coaching career that began in the 80’s, Fangio is still looking to win his first Super Bowl, and win it in Pennsylvania.

“Every person in their profession, about 99 percent of them want to get to the top rung. And in the NFL, getting the ring is the top rung,” Douds said. “I’m betting on Vic. And they will get some turnovers.”

And get one step closer to a championship, East Stroudsburg style.

Recently, 69 News had the opportunity to sit down with a former coach who served as an early role model for the Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive coordinator. During the interview, the coach shared valuable insights on the importance of hard work and dedication in achieving success in the competitive world of professional sports.

One of the key pieces of advice that the coach imparted was to never look at the clock when putting in the work. He emphasized the importance of focusing on the task at hand and giving it your all, regardless of the time or circumstances. This mindset of relentless dedication and commitment to excellence is what has propelled the Eagles’ defensive coordinator to the top of his field.

As fans eagerly await the upcoming season, it is clear that the lessons learned from this early role model will continue to shape the mindset and work ethic of the Eagles’ coaching staff. With a strong foundation of hard work and determination, there is no doubt that the team will be well-equipped to face any challenges that come their way.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Eagles’ preparations for the upcoming season, and remember: hard work knows no bounds, so don’t let the clock dictate your success.

Eight years later, Illinois (13-4, 5-2 Big Ten) exceeded expectations, culminating with an Elite Eight appearance last season; the Fighting Illini are returning to national relevance and striving for even greater heights. Illinois men’s basketball coach Brad Underwood scoffs at potential recruits in fiery ‘don’t come here’ rant

In a surprising turn of events, Illinois men’s basketball coach Brad Underwood went on a fiery rant during a recent press conference, warning potential recruits not to come to Illinois if they aren’t willing to put in the work.

Underwood, known for his intense coaching style and high expectations for his players, didn’t hold back in his message to any players thinking about joining his program. He emphasized the level of commitment and dedication required to succeed at Illinois, and made it clear that he has no patience for players who aren’t willing to give it their all.

“Don’t come here if you’re not ready to work harder than you ever have in your life,” Underwood said. “Don’t come here if you’re not willing to push yourself to the limit every single day. We don’t want players who are just looking for an easy ride. We want players who are hungry, who are driven, who are willing to do whatever it takes to be successful.”

Underwood’s passionate speech has sparked some controversy, with critics questioning whether his tough love approach is the best way to attract top recruits. However, many fans and supporters of the program have praised Underwood for his honesty and commitment to building a winning culture at Illinois.

Only time will tell if Underwood’s bold words will have an impact on recruiting, but one thing is for sure – players who do choose to come to Illinois will know exactly what is expected of them from day one.

When Illinois men’s basketball coach Brad Underwood arrived in Champaign in 2017, he inherited a broken down, non-identifiable Big Ten blue blood starving for excellence.

Eight years later, Illinois (13-4, 5-2 Big Ten) exceeded expectations, culminating with an Elite Eight appearance last season; the Fighting Illini are returning to national relevance and striving for even greater heights.

Underwood may be an old-school coach. He may yell, scream, confront, defend, and praise his players, but ultimately, he wants to win and does so obsessively.

Following a 10-point home loss to USC last Saturday, Underwood got help when guard Kasparas Jakučionis returned to action in a 94-69 win against Indiana on Tuesday. This further showcased the Illini’s ability to go as far as their stars would take them.

Underwood recognizes what he has and what he doesn’t. However, if a recruit intends to play for him, they better be ready to work the hardest they ever have.

“I try to have a pretty heavy hand in that,” Underwood said Saturday regarding practices. “I try to make practices harder than the games. I try to create environments. I try to create stress, adversity in practice while trying to build confidence. Our practices aren’t for the weak. If you don’t want to practice and get better, you don’t need to come to school here. I think that mentality is what this group has just thrived on.”

Illinois remains on the road Sunday against Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans (noon ET, CBS). The Illini seek their fourth-straight road win, while the Spartans (15-2, 6-0 Big Ten) have won 10 in a row. Izzo compared Illinois’ team dynamic to two of the most prominent NBA franchises: the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics.

“We got a lot of work to do the next 3-4 days,” Izzo said Wednesday. “I’m gonna try to work and not read.”

Michigan State upset then-ranked No. 10 Illinois in their most recent meeting last season. The Spartans lead the all-time series 65-64 and have won six of 11 games against Underwood during his tenure thus far.

Illinois men’s basketball coach Brad Underwood scoffs at potential recruits in fiery ‘don’t come here’ rant

Illinois men’s basketball coach Brad Underwood made headlines today with a fiery rant directed at potential recruits. In a press conference, Underwood bluntly told any players considering coming to Illinois to look elsewhere.

“We don’t want players who aren’t willing to put in the work and give it their all every single day,” Underwood said. “If you’re not committed to pushing yourself to be the best, then don’t come here. We don’t need you.”

Underwood’s passionate speech comes as the Fighting Illini are coming off a disappointing season and are looking to rebuild their program. The coach’s tough love approach has garnered mixed reactions from fans and critics alike, with some applauding his no-nonsense attitude while others question his tactics.

Despite the controversy, Underwood remains steadfast in his commitment to turning Illinois into a powerhouse program once again. Only time will tell if his bold words will resonate with potential recruits or if they will fall on deaf ears.

  • Reba McEntire Sings “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” with Brooks & Dunn

Longtime country fans know that one of the hottest tickets in town during the mid-2010s was Reba, Brooks & Dunn: Together in Vegas. During that residency, the trio captivated audiences night after night with incredible performances.

    How to Watch

Watch Happy’s Place Fridays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

And in our eyes, it doesn’t get any better than this enchanting version of “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” that should be required listening for any fan. Kix Brooks, Ronnie Dunn (known collectively as Brooks & Dunn), and Reba McEntire gave fans a Sin City performance they’d never forget!

Listen to this live Las Vegas performance of “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” here.

You can’t have a song about a cowgirl without an honest-to-goodness cowgirl singing along with you, and McEntire stole the show when she took over the final chorus.

Singing lyrics like “Cowgirl, don’t cry / Ride, baby, ride” in her signature vocal style gave the song a softness — and strength — that only the Happy’s Place star could provide.

The Las Vegas crowd was blown away, just like we were when we first watched the performance.

While the trio’s performance of “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” was as good as it gets, the story Dunn told before they began playing was the video’s highlight. As it turns out, McEntire is responsible for Dunn’s daughter finally getting a horse when she was younger. McEntire demanded it! (How can you not love the Queen of Country Music?)

Performing alongside Brooks & Dunn during the trio’s Las Vegas residency is undoubtedly a highlight of McEntire’s career. However, she revealed it was hard for her to keep up with the on-stage banter between her two friends at times.

“When we first started out, I said, ‘Okay, here is what you’re going to say, and here is what you’re going to say, and then I’ll say…,’” McEntire revealed to PopCulture in 2019. “And they go ‘Uh-huh. Yeah.’ We get out there and I say my little part and I look at them and… crickets. They’re gonna say what they want to say and I just kind of follow along.”

Brooks & Dunn are known for their impromptu banter, and it caused McEntire to make an honest — but hilarious — realization.

“I am not on their level,” McEntire confessed. “They are so good at it. I can’t dish it back.”

Things may have changed since then, however. During her memorable time on The Voice over the past few years, she proved she could banter with the best of them!

Here’s what to know about “Cowgirls Don’t Cry”

Released in 2008 by Brooks & Dunn as the fourth single from their studio album Cowboy Town, “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” was actually re-recorded as a duet with McEntire one year later, and that’s when the song took off.

Officially listed as “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” by Brooks & Dunn featuring Reba McEntire, the track reached the #44 position on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at #2 on the Hot Country Songs chart.

Reba McEntire Joins Forces with Brooks & Dunn for a Powerful Performance of “Cowgirls Don’t Cry”

Country music legends Reba McEntire and Brooks & Dunn recently teamed up for a stunning rendition of the hit song “Cowgirls Don’t Cry.” The trio took the stage together and delivered a heartfelt performance that left the audience in awe.

McEntire’s powerful vocals paired perfectly with Brooks & Dunn’s harmonies, creating a truly unforgettable musical moment. The song’s message of resilience and strength resonated with fans as they watched these iconic artists come together to share their talent and passion for country music.

The collaboration between Reba McEntire and Brooks & Dunn was a true highlight of the evening, showcasing the timeless appeal of their music and the enduring connection they have with their fans. It’s clear that these country music legends still have what it takes to captivate audiences and deliver unforgettable performances.

  • The Night Agent’s Gabriel Basso Does His Own Stunts Because ‘I Enjoy Acting, I Don’t Like Lying’

Gabriel Basso prefers to do his own stunts whenever possible.

“I think that can kind of get misconstrued into the world of like, I do it because I want to say I can do it, and it’s really not about that,” The Night Agent star, 30, said during a Tuesday, January 14, appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “To me it’s about audience immersion.”

Basso stars in the Netflix series as FBI agent Peter Sutherland, who works in the White House as a Night Action telephone operator. He told Fallon, 50, that when the audience watches The Night Agent, he wants them to feel that his performance is believable.

“I don’t want the audiences watching the show, and then right as I’m about to get hit or hip tossed or thrown on my back, you know. I feel like it’s a lie,” the actor said. “I enjoy acting, I don’t like lying.”

The Night Agent’s Gabriel Basso Breaks Down His Training Method for Season 1: ‘I Just Wanted to Be Strong and Look Strong’

For Basso, he views it as there’s a “difference” when it comes to executing stunts for the “sake of the audience immersion” and “the sake of believability.”

“They like Peter [and] to watch him take hits is important, I feel like,” he explained. “And if that requires me to get tossed into a wall, then fine. It’s not the end of the world.”

One stunt that was on the table for Basso was skydiving — which he already does in his personal life.

“[Netflix] brought it up as an idea and then I was like, ‘Oh I already skydive. I’ll do it,’” Basso said. “But then insurance called and was like, ‘Yeah stop it.’”

Fallon then showed a photo of Basso skydiving.

“I went down to Skydive San Diego,” Basso explained of the photo of him soaring in the air. “I got my A-Class recertified”

The late night host then realized he was holding the photo of Basso in the air upside down. Basso quipped the photo of him in the sky “looked cooler the other way” as his back was seemingly facing the ground.

“I like that. That’s hard to do,” Fallon teased before re-enacting the pose in his chair. “You really gotta arch your back.”

The Night Agent’s Gabriel Basso Wants Peter Sutherland to Die at Some Point: ‘It’s a Natural’ Arc

Last month, Basso made an epic jump out of Netflix’s blimp during the Christmas Day football game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texas. Basso parachuted out of the blimp in Houston. After completing the stunt, he subsequently revealed that the season 2 trailer for The Night Agent dropped.

“It was cool to see Houston from a blimp. Definitely a memory!” Basso said to Netflix’s Tudum in December 2024.

The Night Agent season 2 premieres on Netflix on Thursday, January 23.

Gabriel Basso, star of the hit TV show The Night Agent, is not your average actor. Not only does he deliver powerful performances on screen, but he also insists on doing his own stunts. Why? Because, in his own words, “I enjoy acting, I don’t like lying.”

In an industry where stunt doubles are often used to ensure the safety of actors, Basso’s commitment to authenticity sets him apart. He believes that by performing his own stunts, he is able to fully immerse himself in his character and deliver a more genuine performance.

Basso’s dedication to his craft has not gone unnoticed. Fans and critics alike have praised his work on The Night Agent, with many pointing to his intense and realistic action sequences as standout moments in the show.

So next time you tune in to watch The Night Agent, keep an eye out for Gabriel Basso’s fearless stunts. And remember, this talented actor isn’t just in it for the fame and fortune – he’s in it for the love of the craft.
