“I got a random text from somebody after the game. I went to look at my phone and it says something about Charles Barkley. I’m like, ‘Huh?’ But [Lakers assistant coaches Greg St. Jean and Beau Levesque] showed me. I didn’t make it all the way through the clip, I gotta be honest with you. My resting heart rate is 64. I watched the clip, it was 64. Literally don’t care. I have other thoughts, but don’t care.”
Barkley received plenty of attention for a rant sparked by Redick last month saying, “If I’m a casual fan and you tell me every time I turn on the television that the product sucks, well, I’m not going to watch the product.”
In return, Barkley went in on Redick’s coaching philosophy, decision-making and job security, as well as the status of the Lakers organization:
“[Redick] said something about we’re the reason people ain’t watching this crappy product we got … yeah, us, like we’re out there jacking up 100 threes a night. JJ, you come for the king, you better not miss. Because I can get you, brother. Remember, I got your Lakers games. You can’t hide them flaws they got. You’re just a dead man walking. They got rid of Frank Vogel who did a good job, they got rid of Darvin Ham who did a good job. But you came out there thinking you were gonna change things with that same ugly girl you went on a date with.”
”[Redick] came in there thinking, ‘I can make this thing work.’ The hell you can! You can put some makeup on that pig! … The Lakers stink, man. Come on, man.”

Barkley is no stranger to media feuds and strong language, while Redick is in his first season as Lakers head coach after three years in the media with ESPN. After a 119-102 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, Los Angeles has won seven of its last nine after a disappointing stretch earlier this season. The team currently sits at 19-14, tied for fourth in the Western Conference.
Redick is something of a lightning rod for the Lakers’ longer-term concerns, both as a first-time professional coach (his only coaching experience consists of his son’s elementary school team) and his closeness with LeBron James (the two had a podcast together before Redick’s hire by the Lakers). As long as the Lakers are losing at least some of their games, he’s going to be an easy target for Barkley and many others.
In a recent interview, Lakers coach JJ Redick responded to Charles Barkley’s rant against him with a simple message: “Literally don’t care.”
Barkley had criticized Redick’s coaching style, calling him out for being too conservative and not taking enough risks on the court. However, Redick brushed off the comments, stating that he is focused on leading his team to success and is not concerned with what Barkley has to say.
“I have a job to do and that is to coach this team to the best of my ability. I don’t pay attention to the noise or the critics,” Redick said. “I have confidence in my coaching style and I am going to stick to it, regardless of what anyone else thinks.”
The Lakers have been performing well under Redick’s leadership, with a strong record and high morale among the team. Redick remains unfazed by Barkley’s criticism and is determined to continue guiding his team to victory.
Fans of the Lakers have shown their support for Redick, praising his resilience and dedication to the team. Despite Barkley’s comments, Redick remains focused on his goal of leading the Lakers to a championship title.
In response to Barkley’s rant, Redick simply stated, “I literally don’t care.” And with that, he is back to focusing on what truly matters – the game.

Dear [Company/Person],
We don’t trust you.
It’s not personal, it’s just that we’ve been burned too many times before. We’ve seen promises broken, deadlines missed, and trust shattered. We’ve watched as you’ve put your own interests above ours, cutting corners and taking shortcuts that ultimately hurt us.
We’ve tried to give you the benefit of the doubt, to believe that you have our best interests at heart. But time and time again, you’ve proven that we can’t trust you.
So from now on, we’re going to be more cautious. We’re going to ask more questions, demand more transparency, and hold you accountable for your actions. We’re going to protect ourselves and our interests, because we can’t afford to trust you anymore.
Maybe one day you’ll earn back our trust. But until then, we don’t trust you.
A sitcom is nothing without its ensemble cast, and Happy’s Place is no exception. The cast has a deep bench with Reba McEntire returning to sitcoms as Bobbie Jo, who inherits her father’s tavern and finds out about his secret daughter Isabelle (Belissa Escobedo). (McEntire previously starred for many seasons on the hit sitcom Reba.)
How to Watch
Watch Happy’s Place Fridays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.
Pablo Castelblanco plays the bar’s accountant Steve, and Tokala Black Elk plays waiter Takoda. The show brings together the band of loveable characters in the charming Tennessee tavern. In a chat with NBC Insider, Escobedo and Castelblanco opened up about joining the show alongside sitcom legends.
Belissa Escobedo and Pablo Castelblanco share what it’s like to work with Reba McEntire
Though Happy’s Place is a completely new concept and show from McEntire’s last sitcom, she reunites with Melissa Peterman (Reba, Young Sheldon) and many of the same crew and writers joined as well, according to Escobedo.
“It feels like… being part of a resurgence of sitcom television, and that’s very special ,and so I’m feeling so lucky,” Escobedo said. “Reba is an angel, so it’s awesome to go to work every day and have it be her at the forefront.”
For Castelblanco, one of the biggest joys for an actor is the chance to be doing a multi-cam sitcom.
“You get to rehearse it and then performing in front of a live audience,” Castelblanco explained. “It’s like you’re opening a play every time you tape an episode.”
Working with the cast of Happy’s Place has been a “delight” for him.
“I’m working with great people that are hilarious,” Castelblanco said. “They’re all doing a very specific thing.”
McEntire’s real-life love Rex Linn rounds out the cast as Bobbie’s love interest, the bar’s short-order cook Emmett.
“They’re so cute that they’re gross,” Escobedo joked about the couple’s dynamic on and off set. “No, I’m just kidding, but they are like sickeningly sweet…I love seeing them be happy…I can’t imagine how cool it is to go to work and be able to be with your boo. That’s really sweet.”
Castelblanco called them the “sweetest couple ever.”
“They’re also, like, very supportive of each other,” Castelblanco said. “I feel like they know their tempos really well. Rex loves to rehearse the episodes. I think Reba’s like… waits a little bit more to see what the final lines are gonna be.”
The different methods lead to the actors pushing each other in either direction, Castelblanco explained.
“Like, ‘Oh, you should rehearse more,’ and she’s like, ‘Well, you should wait until the lines…’ and I just love that they’re, like, keeping each other safe and… happy, but then at the same time they’re kind of like…you know they’re a couple,” Castelblanco said.
Season 1 of Happy’s Place returns Friday, January 3, 2025 at 8/7c on NBC. New episodes are available the next day on Peacock.
Reba McEntire and Rex Linn have been making headlines recently with their new relationship, but it turns out there’s one thing they don’t see eye to eye on: country versus city living.
While Reba is a country girl at heart, with a love for wide open spaces and the peace and quiet of rural life, Rex is a city slicker who thrives on the hustle and bustle of urban living.
Despite their differing preferences, the couple is making it work and finding a balance between their two lifestyles. Who knows, maybe they’ll end up settling down somewhere that offers the best of both worlds.
It just goes to show that even the happiest couples can have their differences, but as long as there’s love and understanding, anything is possible.

The buzz: The Canucks are officially reeling. First there was the epic collapse on Saturday against the Kraken. Then there was the meagre effort against Calgary on New Year’s Eve. And now the Kraken are feeling good about themselves: They beat the Canucks, and then Utah on Monday. Now, all this said, the Kraken have mostly struggled this year. And even without Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson, the Canucks have been able to break out pretty cleanly against Seattle.
• Guillaume Brisebois was involved in line rushes on Thursday morning, but then wasn’t involved in penalty killing drills, according to observers on the scene, so whether he draws in is unclear. Rick Tocchet said he’s looking at a game-time decision on his blue line, indicating there’s perhaps a mild injury concern with one of his defencemen.

• The Miller line remains intact, but the other three lines are being juggled, a source on the scene said. But what the details are aren’t known at the moment — we’re not there, so can’t tell you.
• Thatcher Demko gets the start. Kevin Lankinen will play Friday, Tocchet said.
The history: Seattle won on Saturday, coming back from 4-1 down in the final five minutes. That was just the third time in NHL history a team has won in such a fashion.
The hope: The Canucks did control most of the game on Saturday, but were undone by their own poor execution in the final stages of the game. They needed 60 minutes worth of play, but only managed 55 minutes on Saturday.
The fear: The team seems very low on confidence. Without Hughes, they’re struggling to create scoring opportunities. Tuesday in Calgary was case in point; they were badly out played by the Flames.

The top guns: With no Pettersson or Hughes, Conor Garland is suddenly the Canucks’ leading scorer. But his goal on Saturday against Seattle was the only goal he’d scored in all of December, so he’s not exactly hot. Brock Boeser, on the other hand, is on fire: He has six goals in the last four games.
The wounded: Canucks: Filip Hronek (shoulder, four weeks), Elias Pettersson (undisclosed, day to day), Quinn Hughes (undisclosed, week to week). Kraken: Jordan Eberle (pelvis, two months), Joey Daccord (upper-body bruise, day to day)
The quote: “We were a little antsy at times,” Rick Tocchet said of his team on Tuesday. He was happy how hard they’re working, but disappointed in how they managed a pair of crucial moments that led to goals.

The latest: Joey Daccord remains on the shelf for Seattle; he didn’t practice Wednesday. The Canucks again are likely to face Phillipp Grubauer, who has struggled this season.
The lineup:
DeBrusk-Miller-Boeser
Höglander-Suter-Garland
Heinen-Blueger-Sherwood
Joshua-Sasson-PDG
Hughes-Myers
Soucy-Juulsen
Forbort-Desharnais
Demko
The prediction: Surely Vancouver will start the year off right, right? Look for a 4-2 win for Vancouver, revenge for Saturday’s disappointment.
The Vancouver Canucks are set to face off against the Seattle Kraken in a highly anticipated game tonight. After a disappointing loss in their last matchup, the Canucks are looking to redeem themselves and come out with a win.
One of the biggest issues the Canucks have been facing this season is blowing leads in the third period. In their last game against the Kraken, they had a 2-0 lead going into the final period, only to see it slip away and end up losing in a shootout.
Fans are hoping that the Canucks can learn from their mistakes and hold onto their lead this time around. With key players like Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser leading the charge, the team has the talent to come out on top.
So, as the Canucks take on the Kraken tonight, let’s hope they can play a full 60 minutes of solid hockey and come away with a much-needed win. Don’t blow the lead this time, Canucks – let’s get that W! #Canucks #Kraken #GameDay #Hockey #NHL

Don’t forget to also consider the warranty and return policy when purchasing a new TV. Many retailers offer extended warranties or protection plans that can give you peace of mind in case something goes wrong with your TV. And make sure to check the return policy in case you need to exchange or return the TV for any reason.
So don’t miss out on the post-Christmas TV bargains this year. With some careful research and comparison shopping, you can find a great deal on a new television that will provide hours of entertainment for years to come. Happy shopping!

Chhaya Kadam and Kani Kusruti in a still from Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine as Light.
Now, as the film awaits its digital release on Disney+ Hotstar from January 3, stars Kani Kusruti and Chhaya Kadam sat down for an exclusive chat with Hindustan Times to talk about collaborating with Payal Kapadia, its rapturous global reception, and what they think about its chances of nabbing an Oscar now. (Excerpts)
Congratulations on All We Imagine As Light. The film has been winning so many awards across the world from critic circles. How are you reacting to all this love for the film?
Chhaya: It feels amazing! As actors there is always this wish to do something different, and that feels great in itself. For All We Imagine As Light to receive so much love from across the world is truly special.
Kani: What she said! When we were shooting, we did not think of these things. When such a thing happens, a lot of happiness is spread through the entire crew… everyone is happy. I think we are also very happy when people watch the film and tell us what they felt. Personally for me, that makes me more happy!
Has there been any reaction to the film that has stayed with you?
Kani: For me that has to be one interviewer in person whom we met in Kerala. I forgot her name unfortunately, but when she talked to us… I thought she understood everything. Even as an actor, we tend to miss out on a lot of things. When you watch a film, you discover something new every time. So, this one interviewer said things that even I had not seen, and I got overwhelmed. The capacity of an audience to watch something that you have created, in such a way that they understand all of it and more. That is so unique. I remember for Payal [Kapadia] also it was very moving.
But otherwise a lot of people have also related to these three women. They take a part of their own lives and say how this is the moment they related to Parvaty, or Anu, or Prabha.
Chhaya: Same. So many people have come back to reflect on the film, the characters, that we are seeing the film in a new light. It is so amazing to know these reactions. For instance, a friend of mine told me how one scene in the kitchen in the hospital, it seems that Parvaty’s life is contained in that kholi (a small room in a chawl), and it was so visible in your movement. That your life is stuck there, spending so many years in that cramped space.
What is important for me is so many who have watched this film have come back and told that more films like these should be made. As an artist, and as a part of Indian film industry, that feels so special.
One of my favourite scenes from the film is the little dance that the three characters share in the second half in Ratnagiri almost like an impromptu one…
Kani: All scenes are rehearsed, even that dance scene! Each step was planned. How Divya’s generation would dance, how Anu would react… each step was decided beforehand. There is no impromptu scene in the whole film. The ADs also helped Divya for certain steps, like what a Gen-Z step can be! All that was discussed.
Chhaya: I remember how all three of us made sure to dance like our characters only. Chhaya should not come in that dance! We had to work on that a lot.
Payal does not speak Malayalam. Kani, you do speak Hindi. Tell me a little about collaborating with Payal in the film when both of you were not interacting in their first languages.
Kani: Communication happened in English, but I think Payal did an incredible job even when she was speaking the language. She worked on the script thoroughly with her associate who was also from Kerala and FTII. Robin Joy and Naseem were there from early on, working on the script, translating, know other options of the same word, incorporate it. The tonality of the sound was thoroughly worked upon. We also added our inputs, then Payal would hear all those options, and then greenlit what sounds would go. She would close her eyes and listen to it… so that much work went behind it. She was very much in control in what was happening even when she did not speak the language. That was amazing.
All We Imagine As Light is a city film, a film that talks about Mumbai in all its contradictions and beauty. I want to know about both of your impressions about Mumbai, the changes you have seen…
Chhaya: Mumbai is changing with every year, but there is no denying how this city is able to incorporate with its people. Come what may, Mumbai has this energy that never bows down, or loses at the end. Ek zinda-dili hain. Even people who come from outside and stay in this city, they tell how safe it feels. A person who is in Mumbai will never go to sleep hungry. The city feeds them with a different kind of energy.
Kani, do you remember what Payal said in one interview? I kept thinking how she said that even the bus rides become romantic in Mumbai when one falls in love! (smiles)
Kani: I have come here on and off since 2000, mostly for shows, in Prithvi Theatre. Compared to where I come from, I felt how this is a free-spirited city. People do not stare at women really, as much as I would face it in other places in India. People do not pay unnecessary attention to what women are wearing. All genders freely travelling together, all of that was a pleasant surprise for me. I was in awe. At the same time, I remember seeing the water here being bad. I washed my hair here and felt like going back home. So I noticed these differences. People come to Bombay, they struggle and then they find their way and build their own life. One who has done that will know what the city, or any city, has to offer them. I come from a privileged space, whenever I stay in Mumbai, so I am not really the one to speak for it. I am not a city person but in India if there is any city where I felt that I can survive it is Mumbai. Other cities I am sure I won’t survive at all. (laughs)
The Oscars shortlist for Best International Feature came in and India was not on it. Many people felt All We Imagine As Light could have easily made it, if it had been selected. From an actor’s perspective, how are you reacting to this scenario?
Kani: I don’t even know what is a shortlist! (laughs) I am very bad at following these things, and never paid attention to these things. Of course, whole India would love to see one of the films from the country to be in consideration. I am not someone who is very keen on these matters, and what stands out to me personally is that we are already so proud of what the film is, and that so many people are watching and connecting to it.
That is more important to me as an actor. These journeys of awards are bonus, parallel journeys and let it have its own course. (smiles)
Chhaya ji is in every film! She is in Sister Midnight, Madgaon Express! She is everywhere! (laughs)
Chhaya ji must be thinking that my films must speak for me.
Chhaya: Yes, exactly! (smiles) I was just going to say this! I have never thought of these things, only early on I had this wish to see my films release in theatres and I must get some nomination. But with experience, and after meeting so many people, one’s way of thinking changes accordingly. So after a few years it was all about what I want to do as an actor, the job at hand, and after my work is done, it is one the audience to decide whether it is good or bad.
Even now, our film has received so much. First Cannes, and now Barack Obama has also seen our film! I kept dreaming about how Obama liked our film! (smiles) That means he has seen me, and even know my name! That itself is such a bonus! (smiles) A good film must always find its way. Any Indian film which has such a reception, its a win for all of us. Even if we were not in this film, we would have been so proud for what the film has achieved so far.
All We Imagine As Light premieres on Disney+ Hotstar on January 3.
In an exclusive interview with All We Imagine As Light’s leading ladies Kani Kusruti and Chhaya Kadam, the talented actresses revealed that they don’t care much about Oscar nominations.
Despite their brilliant performances in the acclaimed film, Kani and Chhaya remain humble and grounded, focusing on their craft rather than chasing accolades. When asked about the possibility of an Oscar nomination for their roles, both actresses expressed gratitude for the recognition but emphasized that their true passion lies in telling meaningful stories and connecting with audiences.
Kani and Chhaya’s refreshing perspective serves as a reminder that true success in the entertainment industry comes from genuine artistry and a commitment to creating impactful work. As they continue to captivate audiences with their talent and authenticity, it’s clear that these two talented actresses are destined for even greater heights, with or without the glitz and glamour of award season.

Post Malone and Zach Top don’t exactly have much in common, especially appearance-wise. Unless the latter is hiding a bunch of tattoos somewhere, at least. Zach Top has been making waves for reviving traditional country music. Meanwhile, Post Malone famously converted to country-pop stardom with his recent country album.
Sometimes, opposites attract… though we wouldn’t exactly call these two opposites. Top and Malone have the same passion for country music in slightly different forms, and they recently collaborated on an excellent performance of Vince Gill’s famous 1992 country hit “Don’t Let Our Love Start Slippin’ Away”.
Malone is no stranger to a solid cover of a classic country song, considering he’s delivered renditions of songs by Hank Williams and others. Top, obviously, is as connected to the classics as anyone. He’s covered “Sold” by John Michael Montgomery and “Mama Tried” by Merle Haggard alongside Riley Green.
Zach Top and Post Malone Stun Audiences With Cover of “Don’t Let Our Love Start Slippin’ Away” by Vince Gill
Yesterday, the two country stars decided to surprise a crowd with an excellent team-up during Wild Horses Festival in San Diego, California. Red solo cups in hand, the two sang their hearts out and sounded absolutely incredible together. You can watch a fan clip of the performance below:
Outside of the live collab, neotraditional trailblazer Top has even joked about how the duo are considered “rising stars” in the world of country music, along with a lukewarm joke about Beyonce.
“Me and Post Malone, bringing country back…” said Top in a recent video clip. “Me, him and Beyonce.”
It would honestly be awesome to hear more 90s classic country covers from these two. Malone even covered “I Never Lie” by Top recently at Flora-Bama, so we wouldn’t be surprised if more collaborations were on the way.
So, what have these two been up to separately? Malone dropped F-1 Trillion earlier this year and will be touring mostly non-stop through 2025 for the Big Ass Stadium Tour. Top also dropped his debut album, Cold Beer & Country Music, earlier in 2024. Top will tour extensively through 2025 as well.

At 27 years old, four-time major champion Naomi Osaka gave an honest assessment of her tennis career thus far and expressed how she feels about remaining in the sport moving forward.
Osaka found early success in her tennis career, winning her first major title at age 20. She’s taken time off of the sport multiple times, some for mental health reasons and then in 2023 as she gave birth to her daughter.
She returned to the court in 2024, but didn’t have the outcomes she was hoping for. Her most notable match of the year was arguably when she nearly beat No. 1 Iga Swiatek at the French Open.
Osaka admitted this week that if her results don’t get better in the near future, she could walk away from the sport.
“I don’t think I’m the type of player that would hang around,” Osaka said, via the Associated Press. “I have a lot of respect for all the players on tour, but the point of my life that I’m at right now, if I’m not above a certain ranking, I don’t see myself playing for a while. … I’d rather spend time with my daughter if I’m not where I think I should be and where I feel like I can be.”
She’s not hanging up her racket quite yet. It sounds like Osaka plans to compete in 2025 to try to better her results.
“I think 2024 humbled me, but I also feel like I grew a lot,” Osaka said. “I worked way harder than I’ve ever worked before. So in that, I guess it was very painful to not get the results I wanted, but I feel like I’m growing and learning and I am really excited for this year.”
Osaka will kick off her 2025 campaign this week at the ASB Classic in New Zealand. She’s expected to compete at the Australian Open in January.
Naomi Osaka Admits She Wouldn’t ‘Hang Around’ in Tennis If Results Don’t Get Better
In a candid interview, tennis star Naomi Osaka revealed that she is considering stepping away from the sport if she doesn’t see improvement in her results. The four-time Grand Slam champion admitted that she has been struggling on the court lately and that it has taken a toll on her mental and emotional well-being.
“I love tennis and I am grateful for everything it has brought into my life, but if I can’t perform at the level I know I am capable of, then I don’t see the point in hanging around just for the sake of it,” Osaka said.
The 23-year-old Japanese player has been facing a series of setbacks in recent tournaments, leading to a drop in her world ranking. Despite her immense talent and potential, Osaka has been struggling to find her form and regain her confidence on the court.
Fans and fellow players have expressed their support for Osaka during this challenging time, with many hoping that she will be able to overcome her struggles and return to the top of the game. However, Osaka’s comments have sparked speculation about her future in tennis and whether she will continue to compete at the highest level.
Only time will tell what the future holds for Naomi Osaka, but one thing is clear: she is determined to do whatever it takes to get back on track and rediscover her winning ways.
