  • Dora Jar on the Viral Gracie Abrams Tour Drama: ‘Don’t Feel Bad for Me’

Obviously Gracie’s such a graceful, beautiful spirit and an open-hearted person. She’s been directing a lot of positivity my way. There’s too much to really remember. It’s just a lot.

I saw Maggie Rogers comment on your Instagram and say, “Love you, sweet legend.” So I feel like everything was worth it to get that.

I love her so much, ever since “Dog Days.” That was the first song that I loved by Maggie. She’s so special. Lots of wonderful women supporting women at this moment.

Is this going to change how you plan out the show? What are you thinking?

I want to keep it a secret, but it is going to be a different show.

Gracie Abrams Is Embracing Her Delusions

The singer-songwriter on her new album, The Secret of Us, how she ended up writing a song in a “theater kid” haze with Taylor Swift, and how she’s preparing for her own major tour.

    Gracie Abrams

Clearly, people need to familiarize themselves with your music. Can you walk me through your discography? What songs should we start with?

My first EP is 2021’s Digital Meadow. That was the one where I felt like, Oh, people are listening, this is very cool and so lucky. My favorite song off that one is “Multiply.” It’s still one I play live. My second EP is called Comfortably in Pain, which is a bit shorter, and my favorite song off that is “Lagoon.” It has the lyric: “I’m comfortably in pain / My love is a lagoon too deep to be known by you.” It’s something I really felt at that time, where I started feeling like a stranger to myself, having to all of a sudden be a little bit public. I felt unknown and known, and I didn’t know what I did to deserve the attention. I also didn’t know how to tell the story. I kind of felt I was embracing my own mystery. I put out my album a few years later in 2024, and it’s called No Way to Relax When You Are on Fire.

I saw your music described a few places as “bedroom pop.” Is that how you self-describe? Honestly, I don’t even know what that means.

No, I don’t. I don’t know what it means either, and I don’t like it. [Laughs.] I feel like all artists share the same sentiment of, what the hell is genre? Maybe bedroom pop tries to fill in that confusion by saying, I don’t know, it’s just music. But no, I’m a songwriter primarily. I write all my own songs, usually in a stairwell or somewhere that sounds echoey like a bathroom. So I’m more like a bathroom pop artist maybe, or a stairwell pop artist. But I’m also very rock and roll and I’m also very folk. I’m just a music freak. I love it all. So I try to cover as much ground as I can.

How would you describe your music to a first-time listener?

It’s a fun house and every room is different. It’s all within the same house, but you’ll find many surprises and trinkets and details the closer you look and the deeper you listen.

  • Fans petition to have Dora Jar removed as an opener for Gracie Abrams: ohnotheydidnt — LiveJournal

Fans of Gracie Abrams have started a petition to remove Dora Jar as an opener for her Europe/UK tour. They state that her music is too slow tempo and 2 weeks isn’t enough time to remember her songs. They even go as far as citing Billboard.

    image host

Gracie has yet to respond but Dora Jar is not bothered.

This is a new level of fan entitlement. It is weird to me that they’re complaining about her music being too slow tempo when Gracie’s music is so slow (coming from a Gracie fan). Also I had no clue that people came prepared to remember the songs for openers they’ve never heard lolll.

    SOURCE

Fans of singer Gracie Abrams are petitioning to have Dora Jar removed as an opener for her upcoming tour. The petition, which has already garnered thousands of signatures, cites concerns about Dora Jar’s controversial behavior and problematic past.

Many fans feel that Dora Jar’s presence on the tour could overshadow Gracie Abrams’ talent and distract from the overall concert experience. Some have also expressed discomfort with supporting an artist who has faced allegations of misconduct and offensive behavior.

In response to the petition, Gracie Abrams’ team has stated that they are aware of the concerns and are evaluating the situation. They have not yet made a decision on whether or not to remove Dora Jar from the lineup.

Fans are urging others to sign the petition and make their voices heard in support of a more positive and inclusive concert experience. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

  • Gracie Abrams, Dora Jar React to Fan’s Petition to Replace Jar on Tour

Gracie Abrams just announced Dora Jar as the opening act for her upcoming tour dates in Europe. In a bewildering move, a fan planning to attend the February-March leg of Abrams’ Secret of Us Tour started a petition to replace Jar as the opener.

See latest videos, charts and news

See latest videos, charts and news

A screenshot shared on social media shows that the petition was created on Change.org.

Though Jar has previously been the supporting act for Billie Eilish and The 1975 on arena tours, and toured in support of her own album this past fall, the petition’s creator — under the pseudonym Dexter Morgan — wrote, “Many fans, including myself, are baffled by the recent announcement … We are perplexed as we do not recognize her, and with less than two weeks till the tour, it’s virtually impossible to familiarize ourselves with her slow-paced songs.”

They claimed, “For a memorable concert experience, an opening act should set the mood and get the crowd excited, but Dora’s slow tempo songs may not achieve this goal.”

What’s more perplexing: The petition organizer attempted to source Billboard to strengthen their statement that “upbeat opening acts are essential” at a concert. No citation link was shared, and no previous article appears to have been published on this website with those exact words, or arguing that opinion. (For what it’s worth, you won’t find this Billboard editor demanding upbeat openers.)

Jar responded politely when discovering the petition’s existence Friday night (Jan. 24).

“Don’t worry this doesn’t bum me out! I’m hear to perform for all the music loving open hearted fans. those who aren’t interested can go buy merch while I’m playing (but they might as well let me entertain them tho..;)) an overwhelming amount of fans have been so kind & excited,” she said in response to a message spotted on X (formerly Twitter).

Later she joked, “signed the petition but rehearsing these songs just in case I remain the opener! Love u Dexter.”

In another message Jar expressed thanks to fans of Abrams who’ve stepped in with words of support: “Hate comes with the job, the truth is this is the biggest outpouring of love I’ve ever received from a fanbase who is still unfamiliar with me. Gracie has beautiful open hearted fans and I am so excited for this.”

By Saturday, Abrams got word of the ill-mannered petition and spoke out on behalf of Jar.

“Just hearing about this absolute ridiculousness . . . so wildly uncool and bizarre and also just does not remotely add up. I’ve only seen everyone’s total excitement and I couldn’t be luckier or prouder to share a stage with this talented wonder. Stream everything she’s ever made whether or not you’re coming to the show. Dora forever and ever,” Abrams commented on Stereogum’s Instagram post about the situation.

Jar’s debut full-length album, No Way to Relax When You Are on Fire, was released in September, featuring the single “She Loves Me.” The album followed two EPs, 2022’s Comfortably in Pain and 2021’s Digital Meadow.

She first shared the news that she’ll join Abrams on her European trek, which kicks off in Madrid on Feb. 8 and runs through Glasgow on March 12, on Friday (Jan. 24).

“PINCH ME!!!!” Jar captioned the announcement on Instagram. “To all the beautiful Gracie fans in Europe and the UK: it is such an honor to announce that I will be playing some of my songs for you , opening for our golden hearted living legend GRACIE ABRAMS!!! A privilege to soon share the stage and this experience with you @gracieabrams. Can’t wait to see you all, I will share a playlist soon with some songs that I’ll be playing so you can get familiar and sway with me xoxox.”

Gracie Abrams, Dora Jar React to Fan’s Petition to Replace Jar on Tour

Fans of indie-pop singer Gracie Abrams were in for a shock when a petition started circulating online, calling for Dora Jar to be replaced on Abrams’ upcoming tour. The petition, which has garnered thousands of signatures, cites concerns about Jar’s performance and stage presence.

In response to the petition, both Abrams and Jar took to social media to address the controversy. Abrams expressed her support for Jar, stating that she is an integral part of the tour and that the two have a strong musical connection. She also urged fans to be kind and respectful in their criticisms.

Jar, on the other hand, acknowledged the petition and thanked fans for their feedback. She assured fans that she is committed to improving her performance and providing the best possible experience for concert-goers.

Despite the petition, it seems that Abrams and Jar are determined to continue working together on the tour. Fans will just have to wait and see how their dynamic evolves on stage.

  • Beloved TikTok star and humanitarian Dora Moono Nyambe suddenly dies at age 32 on Christmas Day

Beloved TikTok star and humanitarian Dora Moono Nyambe suddenly dies at age 32 on Christmas Day

TikTok star and humanitarian, Dora Moono Nyambe, suddenly passed away at the age of 32 on Wednesday, December 25.

The media personality is known for launching her nonprofit Footprints of Hope in 2019, and for building a school in Zambia.

She had chronicled her journey on social media, where she amassed around 4.2 million followers on her TikTok page and 110K followers on Instagram.

However, this week on Friday, December 27, a message was shared to both accounts to announce her shock death.

It read: ‘It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden departure of our beloved Dora. She will be remembered as a loving mother, heroine, peace philanthropist and an extraordinary woman.’

The caption of the post included, ‘The program for the burial for our beloved Dora Moono Nyambe.’

TikTok star and humanitarian, Dora Moono Nyambe, suddenly passed away at the age of 32 on Wednesday, December 25

Nyambe’s burial was originally set for Saturday, December 28 but was then moved to December 30 ‘due to unforeseen challenges.’

In a separate post uploaded on Saturday, a message read: ‘The burial of the late Dora Moono Nyambe, which was initially scheduled for an earlier date, has been moved to Monday afternoon 30 December 2024 due to some unforeseen challenges.’

‘We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding during this difficult time.’

‘We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has come forward to support us, whether financially or in other forms,’ was also added in the caption.

‘Your kindness and generosity have been a source of great comfort and strength for the family during this period.’

A cause of death has yet to be disclosed, but just over a week before her passing, Dora revealed that she had broken her leg in a clip shared on December 15 – but is unclear if that has any relation to her death.

Earlier this week on Thursday, a fellow teacher who had worked for Nyambe’s nonprofit also confirmed the educator’s shock passing in a video uploaded to her main TikTok page.

‘I am officially announcing the loss of my beloved CEO, director, manager and founder of Footprints of Hope School, who died on Wednesday, 25th of December 2024.’

She continued, ‘Our sister will be buried here in Mapapa at Footprints of Hope School. Thank you so much for everything.’

Dora’s last Instagram post before her death was shared earlier this week on Monday – and was a collaboration with YouTuber MrBeast (James Stephen ‘Jimmy’ Donaldson) for Beast Philanthropy.

On December 15, she uploaded a separate clip while sitting inside a vehicle and briefly panned the camera to her broken foot.

However, her injury did not prevent her from stopping to try to acquire a bus to help children be able to get to school.

She penned in the caption, ‘A hurt leg can’t stop us! Lets get the k!ds of this remote village a school bus. We can do this!!!’

Earlier this month, Nyambe stressed the importance of getting a new bus for the children in the village of Mapapa in Zambia.

In a short reel, she wrote, ‘Our school is free and has rescued over 500 k!ds from SA and abuse. This is why we really need a bus.’

Dora worked to give children access to education in the village, and also strived to prevent child marriage.

On December 20, she uploaded a clip as she stepped in front of the camera using a crutch due to her leg injury.

‘We have been able to stop so many ch!ld marriages and have created this safe heaven for them. So much more needs to be done for so many,’ she penned.

Nyambe had also been open on social media about adopting 13 children and fostering around 150-200 more.

In her final TikTok – which was also uploaded only days before her passing – she shared a montage with the kids in the village and her time teaching at the school.

Dora could also be seen giving out books to a group of kids, as well as packing food to give to the children in the village.

‘When I started to adopt, people said I couldn’t do it because of my age and being unmarried,’ Dora wrote in text added over the reel. She then added in the caption, ‘One day at a time.’

On her official LinkedIn profile, Nyambe studied at Immaculata Teaching College from 2011 through 2013. And then in January 2019, she launched her nonprofit Footprints of Hope.

In a description on the page, she shared, ‘We strive to educate, feed and house and protect the youth of the rural village of Mapapa.’

‘100% of all the development efforts are funded through donations on our GoFundMe page. I am the director and president of all operations.’

When it came to her working in the village, she previously explained to her followers that she had simply visited Mapapa with a friend in 2019 while awaiting a visa.

However, after seeing the poverty and lack of education for the children there, she made the decision to move to Mapapa with her adopted kids in order to provide a positive change.

She was then introduced to TikTok by one of her daughters, where she was able to reach millions of viewers to share her journey and bring awareness to her nonprofit.

Northeastern University graduate, Joseph Schmitt, wrote a book about Dora’s experience in the village titled Under A Zambian Tree in 2023.

‘I’m trying to amplify her voice, but I couldn’t fathom accomplishing or even trying to accomplish what she’s done. She’s incredible,’ he told Northeastern Global News last year in February.

Not long after first visiting Mapapa, Dora told the outlet, ‘By the second or third day, I was asking, “Why aren’t these kids in school?”‘

Following her success on social media – especially TikTok – she started to receive donations, both big and small, to help support her charitable organization.

'Yes, there are kids that are suffering. But that's not all they are. They are also amazing human beings,' she stated

‘Yes, there are kids that are suffering. But that’s not all they are. They are also amazing human beings,’ she stated

‘Lots of TikTok users are young. I think they relate to me, also as a woman who is Black,’ she explained last year.

And when it comes to the content she shares on TikTok and Instagram, she expressed that she likes to show hopeful videos of the children.

‘Yes, there are kids that are suffering. But that’s not all they are. They are also amazing human beings.’

‘They make this amazing art. They love sports. They love to read. I show these other aspects that you wouldn’t typically see in a traditional African story of the poor child wanting help,’ Dora added.

I am devastated to share the news that beloved TikTok star and humanitarian Dora Moono Nyambe has tragically passed away at the young age of 32 on Christmas Day. Dora was known for her infectious energy, positive messages, and dedication to making the world a better place.

Dora used her platform on TikTok to spread awareness about important social issues, advocate for the marginalized, and inspire others to be kind and compassionate. She was a true force for good in the world, using her influence for positive change.

Her sudden death has left her fans, friends, and family in shock and mourning. Dora’s impact on the world will never be forgotten, and her legacy of kindness and activism will continue to inspire others for years to come.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Dora’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Rest in peace, Dora Moono Nyambe. You will be deeply missed.
