Plus: The Washington Capitals got a 5-on-3 opportunity with about five minutes left in the second period, and they did not let it go to waste. It took Dylan Strome just 18 seconds to score a power play goal, bringing the Caps to 4-for-6 on the two-man advantage this season.
Minus: The Capitals’ streak of 13-straight successful penalty kills came to an end tonight after Blake Coleman scored a power play goal for the Calgary Flames. Coleman’s goal came just 12 second’s into Pierre-Luc Dubois’ unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, which got PLD benched for the rest of the period. PLD was clearly frustrated that the ref missed a Flames’ penalty, but he got dinged for yelling at the officials instead. While he definitely had a case to make, that’s not a good position to put the rest of the team in. PLD was out of the doghouse to start the third period, however
