It was a rough assignment for Connor Murphy to return from being out for a long time injured, and he showed some rust early in the game. Louis Crevier left the lineup in the middle of the first period after he was boarded and did not return. Interim head coach Anders Sorensen opted to put both Ethan Del Mastro and Nolan Allan in the press box as healthy scratches on Saturday. Mark Lazerus asked Sorensen why he was sitting both of the two younger defensemen and keeping TJ Brodie in the lineup. Laz tweeted the questions and his responses. I’m pretty sure this isn’t going to improve the responses from fans (it shouldn’t).
After the Blackhawks were completely overwhelmed in the first period on Saturday, Mark Messier had some very pointed comments about Connor Bedard.
I noted this yesterday after a flurry of trades in about a 12-hour window involving the Canucks, Rangers, Penguins, Stars and Sharks: as of Saturday morning, 28 of the first 64 picks in the 2025 NHL Draft have now been traded (assuming all picks transfer). Dallas had kept their first-round pick in 11 of the 12 previous drafts with Jim Nill as the GM. That speaks volumes about how NHL front offices view the depth of this year’s draft class.
It’s noteworthy that, among the teams specifically stockpiling picks in the first two rounds of the 2025 NHL Draft: Philadelphia (7), Nashville (5), Blackhawks (4) and, now, San Jose (3).

Robinson boasts a massive 6-foot-6, 310-pound frame and took a significant step forward as a pass rusher in 2024. He improved his pass-rush grade by 14 points from 2023, tallying six sacks and 12 quarterback hits—up from just one sack and eight hits the previous year.
Wehr brings versatility with experience at both guard and tackle — and has excelled at both spots. Over three seasons at Montana State, he didn’t allow a single sack and surrendered just eight total pressures across 762 pass-blocking snaps.
McCoy is a big-bodied target at 6-foot-3, 230 pounds and brings added value as a blocker. His 75.8 run-blocking grade in 2024 ranked third among all Power Five receivers with at least 200 run-blocking snaps.
Evans’ 2024 season ended in October due to a knee injury, but he profiles as a true nose tackle and was dominant against the run in 2023. During his junior year, he earned positive grades on 26% of run plays while receiving downgrades on just 5.3%.
Kallerup was rarely used in the Gopher passing game, but his 81.8 run-blocking grade ranked second among all draft-eligible tight ends in 2024.

So I’m projecting where the best players in the class — including 22 Senior Bowl participants — could land with a full mock draft of Rounds 1-2.
Yes, there’s still a lot of time for changes. The combine later this month will shuffle draft boards, and NFL free agency in March will alter the needs of each team. Pro days and countless interviews come after that as we count down to Round 1 on April 24. But this is where things stand at the moment. Which quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft class best fits Kevin Stefanski’s offense? Hey, Mary Kay!
As we look ahead to the 2025 NFL Draft, one of the biggest questions facing the Cleveland Browns is which quarterback in this year’s class best fits head coach Kevin Stefanski’s offensive scheme.
Stefanski’s offense is known for its reliance on the running game, play-action passes, and quick, efficient decision-making by the quarterback. With that in mind, there are a few prospects in this year’s draft class who could be great fits for Stefanski’s system.
One player to keep an eye on is quarterback Tyler Johnson out of Alabama. Johnson is a highly intelligent quarterback who excels at making quick reads and getting the ball out of his hands rapidly. He also has impressive accuracy and touch on his deep throws, making him a perfect fit for Stefanski’s play-action heavy offense.
Another prospect to consider is quarterback Marcus Green out of Ohio State. Green is a dual-threat quarterback who is a threat both through the air and on the ground. His ability to extend plays with his legs could add an extra dimension to Stefanski’s offense and keep defenses off balance.
Of course, there are other talented quarterbacks in this year’s draft class who could also excel in Stefanski’s system. It will be interesting to see which player the Browns ultimately decide to target in the draft.

The Titans new GM Mike Borgonzi goes with an elite talent at a premium position in Abdul Carter, who looked a lot like Micah Parsons on the edge in his final year at Penn State.
The Raiders make no mistake about which quarterback they have as the top player at the position in this class and get Shedeur Sanders in the building with Tom Brady.
Travis Hunter would be such a fun add to this Browns team, and this decision sets the table for a potential ascension for a quarterback — if needed — in what should be a better class at that position in 2026. The Browns send No. 2 and No. 103 (fourth-rounder) to Las Vegas and get the Raiders’ first-rounder next year and No. 73 (third-rounder) in this draft.
Another playmaking talent for whoever is playing quarterback for the Jets in 2025 and beyond. Tetairoa McMillan is a lot like Drake London on the field.
With Mason Graham and Derrick Brown back next season, the Panthers could go from having one of the most porous defensive interiors to a ferocious tandem at that position in a flash.
Stat-wise, Luther Burden III didn’t have a tremendous 2024, but his traits are fantastic. He’s sudden, runs crisp routes, and bounces off tackles on a routine basis after the catch. And he tracks it effortlessly downfield. Another weapon for Derek Carr. It’s needed.
How about a scenario in which the Cowboys don’t draft Ashton Jeanty … and Ben Johnson and the Bears land the premier running back in this class?

James Pearce Jr. is a long, bendy edge rusher with elite-level speed-to-power conversion and plenty of room to grow into his frame in the NFL. Running mate for Nick Bosa.
If he can’t pick Jeanty, I still expect Jerry Jones to want to make a splash in Round 1, and the 6-foot-6, 260-pound Tyler Warren with impeccable receiving skills would be just that.
Malaki Starks would give the Dolphins another premier playmaker at the safety spot who will contribute on three downs in a big way. He’ll probably re-sign, but Jevon Holland is a free agent.
Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon would gravitate toward a bendy, burst-based rusher after his time spent with Haason Reddick in Philadelphia. Mike Green is taller but has a similar athletic skill set at edge.
Walter Nolen is a freaky mover at close to pounds with long arms and supreme power at the point of attack. He’s precisely what the Bengals need on their defensive interior.
With two reasonably young tackles on the roster in Charles Cross and Abraham Lucas, the Seahawks make this selection with the idea of simply putting the five best blockers on the field. Kelvin Banks Jr. can start his career at left or right guard in Seattle.
Omarr Norman-Lott has an NFL frame and won routinely on the inside of Tennessee’s defensive front in 2024. He’ll be an instant plus starter next to former first-round pick Devonte Wyatt.
Before his injury, Shavon Revel Jr. felt like a first-round lock. With his injury occurring so early in the 2024 season, the Vikings are fine selecting him here. He’s long, uber-talented and comes with plus ball skills.
Home run for the Texans here with Tyler Booker, the consensus top interior blocker in this class. The offensive line needs to be addressed early in this draft entering the third season for C.J. Stroud.
With Ronnie Stanley set to hit free agency, the Ravens get a thick but balanced left tackle, adding another huge blocker from the University of Minnesota to the offensive line.
Might be tough for Columbus native Jack Sawyer to play for a team in Michigan, but he’s the exact type of gritty defender Dan Campbell and Co. will love in Detroit. And he fills a need opposite Aidan Hutchinson.
Given Bobby Wagner’s age, Dan Quinn looks for the next quarterback of his defense, and Carson Schwesinger will probably be the consensus top off-ball linebacker in the class.
Back-to-back first-round receivers for the Chiefs, as they pick up a speedster with good polish in Matthew Golden.
In a stunning turn of events, the Cleveland Browns have traded back in the 2025 NFL Draft, setting themselves up for a QB selection in 2026. With the 10th overall pick, the Browns select star cornerback Travis Hunter out of Florida State University.
Hunter is a dynamic playmaker on the defensive side of the ball, with elite speed, ball skills, and instincts. He has the ability to lock down the opposing team’s top wide receiver and make game-changing plays in the secondary.

The Cleveland Browns made a rather unorthodox decision when they hired Paul DePodesta in 2016.
They brought in someone with a proven background in a different sport to aid in their decision-making process.
After successful tenures in Major League Baseball, the Browns appointed Paul DePodesta as their Chief Strategy Officer.
From that day on, the fans have mostly questioned his work at that position, oftentimes wondering what he actually does.
He’s expected to provide some analytics-based input on the team’s decisions and roster-building, yet many fans don’t seem to understand what he’s getting paid to do.
That’s why, in his latest mailbag session, one fan asked Browns insider Tony Grossi whether DePodesta has actually made an impactful contribution to the team.
Grossi’s response, however, might not appease the fans:
“DePodesta’s greatest contribution was marrying head coach Kevin Stefanski with GM Andrew Berry. It fulfilled Jimmy Haslam’s directive to have peace and harmony between GM and head coach. To his credit, DePodesta also recommended Sean McDermott as a coaching candidate instead of Freddie Kitchens. On the other hand, he advocated quarterback Mitch Trubisky over Myles Garrett with the No. 1 pick in 2017,” Grossi said.
Of course, one could make a case for the Browns desperately needing a quarterback back then, and Trubisky did look like he would be a successful quarterback at the next level.
Also, he wasn’t the only one who thought the Browns could’ve done better than taking Garrett at the time.
Fortunately, they didn’t listen to his pitch and ended up choosing the future Hall of Famer anyway.
Some fans also hold the Deshaun Watson trade against him as well.
Then again, that seemed like a good deal at the time, at least from a football perspective.
As things stand now, fans might not be necessarily thrilled with what he’s done.

The rosters for three of the four teams in the NBA All-Star Game will be determined through the NBA All-Star Draft held live on TNT on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
In the NBA All-Star Draft, TNT’s “Inside the NBA” commentators and team general managers Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith will each select eight players from the pool of 24 players voted as starters and reserves in each conference.
Team Chuck, Team Shaq and Team Kenny will be joined in the mini-tournament by the Castrol Rising Stars champion, known as Team Candace for its honorary general manager, WNBA legend and TNT analyst Candace Parker.
For the first time, the NBA All-Star Game will feature a mini-tournament with four teams and three games. Two teams will meet in one semifinal (Game 1), and the remaining two teams will meet in the other semifinal (Game 2). The winning teams from Game 1 and Game 2 will advance to face each other in the championship (Game 3). For each game, the winner will be the first team to reach or surpass 40 points.
Each team will have eight players and be named for a TNT NBA analyst. The 24 NBA All-Star selections will be divided evenly into three teams, with the rosters drafted by TNT’s Inside the NBA commentators and honorary team general managers Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith. The three analysts will make their respective picks for Team Chuck, Team Shaq and Team Kenny live on TNT in the NBA All-Star Draft, which will be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. ET just before the network’s doubleheader that night.
The fourth team will be the winning team from the championship game of the Castrol Rising Stars, the annual showcase of top first- and second-year NBA players and NBA G League standouts, which will be played on Feb. 14 during NBA All-Star 2025. TNT analyst and WNBA legend Candace Parker will serve as honorary GM of the Rising Stars champion, known as Team Candace.
The five players honored as starters in each conference will be selected by fans (50% of the vote), current NBA players (25%) and a media panel (25%). The seven players honored as reserves in each conference will be selected by NBA head coaches.
The four teams participating in the NBA All-Star Game will compete for a prize pool of $1.8 million. Each player on the championship-winning team will receive $125,000, each player on the second-place team will receive $50,000 and each player on the third- and fourth-place teams will receive $25,000.
