The scores, based on a 100-point scale, reflect the compliance of these establishments with food safety and hygiene regulations. FIFTEEN restaurants had perfect scores!

Madison County restaurant inspection scores for Dec. 14-20: Long fingernails & drinks don’t mix
During the week of Dec. 14-20, the Madison County Health Department conducted restaurant inspections and uncovered some concerning findings. One of the most notable violations was the presence of long fingernails on food handlers, which can pose a serious health risk to customers.
According to health department officials, long fingernails can easily harbor bacteria and other harmful pathogens, which can then be transferred to food and drinks during preparation. This can lead to foodborne illnesses and other health issues for patrons.
In addition to the issue of long fingernails, inspectors also found that some restaurants were not properly storing and handling drinks, which can also contribute to the spread of contaminants and bacteria.
As a result of these violations, several restaurants received poor inspection scores and were required to take corrective action to address the issues. Health department officials are reminding restaurant owners and employees to adhere to proper hygiene practices and food safety protocols to ensure the health and safety of their customers.
