Most travellers know Emirates for its luxurious first class suites, signature inflight cocktail bar and network of world class airport lounges.
But there’s a new Emirates lounge on the radar – one you’ll never get to see unless you work for the airline.
The Wejhaty Lounge, which means ‘my destination’ in Arabic, isn’t a lounge for passengers.
It’s a space exclusively for Emirates employees such as cabin crew, ground staff and head office teams, along with their families and guests who might be visiting.
From meeting pods to relaxation zones, this private lounge combines function with comfort to meet the needs of the airline’s massive workforce.
Spread across a sprawling 22,770ft2 (2,115m2) with room for 500 people at any point in time, the Wejhaty Lounge feels more like a high-end co-working space than a traditional staff area.
For a start, visitors are greeted, served and guided by concierge service attendants.
Emirates has outfitted this space with everything its people might need, whether they’re looking to catch up on work, take a breather between shifts, or connect with colleagues.
There are high-tech meeting rooms, collaboration spaces, and even quiet zones for those who prefer to work solo, plus a fully-stocked pantry
The lounge also includes dressing rooms, wellness spaces and ergonomic seating for staff to recharge after long hours on the job.
For quick breaks, employees can grab a coffee or unwind in one of the lounge’s dedicated relaxation areas – one of which is a downsized version of an Emirates business class with the latest business class seats and a sofa from the A380 lounge.
Digital screens throughout the lounge display updates on training opportunities, company news, and team events.
A playroom for youngsters contains toys and entertainment, with a nanny to supervise it all.
Employees and their families have access to a complete range of medical services – including biometrics, fitness tests and x-rays – plus HR, IT, payroll and cashier services.
Wejhaty also houses third-party international visa services for employees before they jet off to their next destination.
In addition to an amphitheatre-style modular auditorium that can hold around 100 people there are 19 discussion rooms and two specialised ‘assessment spaces’ where pilots, cadets and other specialist roles have dedicated facilities and advanced technology for simulation- and computer-based assessments.
Travellers rarely get a look at what goes on behind the scenes of their favourite airlines, but spaces like this highlight the immense effort it takes to deliver a seamless travel experience across Emirates’ global operations.

Dubai Desert Classic: Ewen Ferguson admits ‘luck’ as grandstand aids eagle to lead
Ewen Ferguson admitted he had “a little bit of luck” after he eagled the 18th hole to lead the Hero Dubai Desert Classic by a stroke at the midway stage.
The Scot’s second shot ended up five feet from the hole after he clattered his ball into the grandstand and it bounced back onto the green.
Ferguson knocked in the putt for a bogey-free seven-under 65 to move to 12 under, one clear of New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier, who also eagled the last in his 65.
“I knew that the last couple of holes, you could take advantage of them,” he told BBC Sport.
“On 18, obviously a little bit of luck there. I felt I would’ve made birdie anyway but eagle’s just even better.”
Tyrrell Hatton had eight birdies as he also carded a 65 to match the lowest round of the day. He is alongside fellow Englishman Laurie Canter (68), South Africa’s Shaun Norris (67) and Australia’s Jason Scrivener (69) on eight under.
England’s Tommy Fleetwood (68) and Northern Ireland’s Tom McKibbin (69) are in a group at five under, while Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre is one further back after he had six birdies and three bogeys in a 69.
Rory McIlroy (71) is in a group of 11 players on three under, along with Scottish pair Richie Ramsay (71) and Calum Hill (74).
Spain’s Jon Rahm was among those to miss the cut. The two-time major champion had two double bogeys in a five-over 77 that saw him finish on two over par, two shots above the cut line.
The Dubai Desert Classic has been full of excitement and surprises, and Ewen Ferguson’s performance in the tournament has been no exception. In a recent game, Ferguson found himself in a bit of a tricky situation on the 18th hole. However, with a stroke of luck and a little help from a grandstand, he managed to score an incredible eagle, taking him to the top of the leaderboard.Ferguson admitted that luck played a big part in his amazing shot, but he also credited his skill and focus for pulling off such a remarkable feat. The grandstand may have helped him out, but it was Ferguson’s talent and composure that ultimately led to his success.
As the Dubai Desert Classic continues, all eyes will be on Ewen Ferguson to see if he can maintain his lead and come out on top. With his impressive performance so far, it’s clear that he has what it takes to be a serious contender in the tournament. Stay tuned for more updates on Ferguson’s journey to victory in the Dubai Desert Classic.

Rahm misses cut, McIlroy struggles, Ferguson leads at Dubai Desert Classic
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Jon Rahm and Viktor Hovland missed the cut and Rory McIlroy was forced to battle to make the weekend as the headline acts struggled at the Dubai Desert Classic.
Ewen Ferguson was taking full advantage.
Ferguson, a Scot ranked No. 141, shot 7-under 65 and was the unlikely leader by one stroke after the second round of the prestigious European tour event on Friday.
Ferguson jumped into the lead courtesy of a huge slice of fortune late in the day at the par-5 18th hole, where he overhit his second shot but saw the ball rebound off a big advertising board and back onto the green, settling 5 feet from the pin. He holed the eagle putt to move to 12 under for the week.
David Hillier of New Zealand, who is ranked No. 223, also shot 65 to be in second place and the only player within three strokes of Ferguson. No. 17-ranked Tyrrell Hatton (65) was in a three-way tie for third place on 8 under.
Rahm (77), a two-time major winner now playing on the breakaway LIV Golf circuit, and No. 8-ranked Hovland (73) were headed home early after a difficult two days at Emirates Golf Club, where changing winds, thick rough and testing pin placements made for tough conditions.
“I wouldn’t say that there was anything that went well,” said Rahm, who has dropped to No. 31 in the rankings. “No part of the game today was even average to what I would like to feel.”
McIlroy will be hanging around but doesn’t look to be in the form needed, especially with the putter, to win the tournament for a third straight year.
The No. 3-ranked Northern Irishman cut a forlorn figure over the final few holes, barely raising a smile even when making birdie at No. 18 to shoot 71 and be on 3-under par for the tournament.
McIlroy was nine strokes off the lead, having made only 39 feet of putts in his entire second round.
“A little frustrated,” McIlroy said. “But I thought the conditions were a little tricky.”
However, McIlroy was buoyed when reminded he was 10 strokes behind after 36 holes last year before going on to repeat as champion.
“I’d say the winning score isn’t going to be much above what the leader is right now, especially the way the course is going to play over the weekend, and the way especially this golf course has played over the weekend the last couple years,” McIlroy said.
“The greens will continue to get a little bit firmer, and will put such a premium on putting it in the fairway and hitting a lot of greens. If I can focus on that over the weekend, get a couple of putts to drop, I think I’ve still got a decent chance.”
Ferguson is a three-time winner on the European tour, his most recent victory coming at the BMW International Open in July.
In a surprising turn of events at the Dubai Desert Classic, defending champion Jon Rahm missed the cut after struggling in the second round. The Spaniard, who was considered one of the favorites to win the tournament, failed to make it to the weekend after shooting a disappointing 76 in the second round.Meanwhile, former world number one Rory McIlroy also had a tough time on the course, finishing the second round with a 74 to put him well behind the leaders. The Northern Irishman, who has had a strong start to the season, will need a strong finish in the final two rounds to have a chance at contending for the title.
On the other hand, American golfer Keith Ferguson has taken the lead at the Dubai Desert Classic after a solid performance in the first two rounds. Ferguson has been consistent off the tee and on the greens, and will be looking to maintain his lead heading into the weekend.
With Rahm out of the picture and McIlroy struggling, the tournament is wide open and anything can happen in the final two rounds. Stay tuned for more updates on the Dubai Desert Classic as the action unfolds.
