Eagles, ‘Big Dom’ retrieve 3rd-string QB Tanner McKee’s 1st career TD ball from fan after A.J. Brown throws it into stands

Third-string quarterback Tanner McKee had an NFL debut to remember on Sunday while throwing his first career touchdown and helping the Eagles clinch the NFC East.

But he almost lost his milestone ball due to a lapse by A.J. Brown. Thanks to an understanding Eagles fan, McKee finished the game with the ball in addition to a win over the Dallas Cowboys.

McKee played on Sunday thanks to injuries to Jalen Hurts and Kenny Pickett.

Hurts remained in concussion protocol after suffering a head injury in Week 16 and did not start in Sunday’s game. Then, in the third quarter, backup Pickett left the game after taking a shot to the ribs.

The injury took place on a pass play in the red zone. Pickett threw the ball in the end zone and took a hit from Micah Parsons that left him doubled over in pain.

Pickett’s touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith was overturned by a holding penalty, and McKee took over for a third-down handoff before the Eagles kicked a field goal.

The Eagles listed Pickett as questionable to return with a rib injury. Philadelphia, which had already clinched a playoff berth, held a 24-7 lead over the Cowboys at the time of Pickett’s injury.

McKee remained in the game for the next series as Pickett went to the locker room for evaluation of his injury. A sixth-round pick in the 2023 draft, McKee had never thrown an NFL pass prior to Sunday.

On his first full possession leading the Eagles offense, he threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Brown to extend Philadelphia’s lead to 34-7.

Brown then promptly threw the touchdown ball into the stands for a fan souvenir, apparently unaware that it was the first touchdown pass of McKee’s career. Brown quickly realized his error and offered to trade his jersey to the fan that caught the ball in exchange for McKee’s milestone ball.

The Eagles worked things out with the fan to make sure that McKee got his ball. The fan handed the ball back down to Eagles security staffer “Big Dom” DiSandro. And Brown delivered on his promise to give his jersey to the fan, complete with an autograph.

Not a bad deal.

Pickett eventually returned to the sideline without his helmet, his day done as Philadelphia held a 27-point lead. His prognosis wasn’t immediately clear.

The Eagles rolled to a 41-7 win to improve to 13-3 and clinch the NFC East title as Saquon Barkley became the ninth running back in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season. McKee finished his day completing 3-of-4 passes for 54 yards with two touchdowns and no turnovers. His second touchdown was a 25-yard pass to Smith in the second quarter.

Hurts has one week to clear concussion protocol before Philadelphia’s season finale next Sunday against the Giants and at least two weeks before the Eagles play in the playoffs. In the meantime, McKee can bask in a successful NFL debut.

In a heartwarming display of teamwork and camaraderie, the Philadelphia Eagles and defensive tackle ‘Big Dom’ banded together to retrieve 3rd-string QB Tanner McKee’s first career touchdown ball from a fan after wide receiver A.J. Brown accidentally threw it into the stands.

During a thrilling game against the Tennessee Titans, McKee found himself in the spotlight when he threw his first career touchdown pass. However, the celebratory moment quickly turned sour when Brown, caught up in the excitement, grabbed the ball and tossed it into the crowd.

But the Eagles were not about to let McKee’s special moment slip away. With determination and teamwork, they rallied together to track down the errant ball and return it to the young quarterback. ‘Big Dom’ played a crucial role in negotiating with the fan and ensuring that McKee’s milestone achievement was properly recognized and celebrated.

The heartwarming display of sportsmanship and solidarity between teammates demonstrates the true spirit of the game and the bond that exists within the Eagles organization. McKee can now cherish his first career touchdown ball, thanks to the unwavering support of his teammates and the dedication of ‘Big Dom’ in retrieving it from the fan.

In a heartwarming display of teamwork and camaraderie, the Philadelphia Eagles and their linebacker ‘Big Dom’ teamed up to retrieve 3rd-string quarterback Tanner McKee’s first career touchdown ball after it was mistakenly thrown into the stands by Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown.

After McKee threw a beautiful touchdown pass in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Titans, Brown intercepted the ball and playfully tossed it into the stands. Fans scrambled to catch the prized possession, not realizing its significance to McKee.

Fortunately, Eagles linebacker ‘Big Dom’ quickly sprang into action, racing into the stands to retrieve the ball. With the help of some Eagles teammates, they were able to track down the lucky fan who caught the ball and kindly asked for its return. The fan, touched by the gesture, willingly handed over the ball to McKee.

The Eagles organization and ‘Big Dom’ are being praised for their sportsmanship and dedication to ensuring that McKee received his rightful memento from his first career touchdown. It’s moments like these that remind us of the true spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork in the NFL. Congratulations to Tanner McKee on his milestone achievement! #FlyEaglesFly #Teamwork #Sportsmanship

NFL Week 17 overreactions: Eagles let Saquon Barkley get rushing record? Chiefs should keep Bengals out?

The NFL regular season is starting to come to a close with some exciting storylines as the postseason draws near. Saquon Barkley is going for Eric Dickerson’s rushing record while the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions each have 13+ wins and will fight in a winner-take-all Week 18 battle for the NFC North and home-field advantage in the NFC.

The Cincinnati Bengals are a win and losses by the Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos away from doing the improbable and reaching the playoffs. The Atlanta Falcons and Tampa bay Buccaneers are taking their NFC South title fight to the final round while the New York Giants lost their grip on the No. 1 pick.

With all the storylines in the Sunday slate in Week 17, what justified overreactions around the league? Which of those overreactions are truly overreactions and which are reality?

Eagles should let Saquon Barkley go get Eric Dickerson’s record

Overreaction or reality: Reality

Barkley is just 101 yards away from passing Dickerson’s single-season rushing record and has a game to play. The issue? The Eagles have nothing to play for in Week 18 with the NFC East title and the No. 2 seed clinched, and are eliminated from the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage.

If Nick Sirianni decided to rest his starters, it would be hard to blame him. How many times does a player have an opportunity to get the single-season rushing record, a mark which has stood for 40 years? Barkley may only need a half to break that record.

Getting 2,000 yards in 16 games is a tremendous accomplishment, but a memorable first season in Philadelphia would be capped if the Eagles allow Barkley the opportunity to pass Dickerson. And Barkley could do it against his former team, the Giants

Chiefs should let Broncos win next week to keep Bengals out

Overreaction or reality: Overreaction

The Chiefs don’t have to play their starters in Week 18 since they have home-field advantage locked up. Andy Reid can do whatever he likes, even if his team won’t have to play a meaningful game in more than three weeks. Sitting Patrick Mahomes and the first-team offense would do the Broncos a favor, who just need a win to clinch a playoff berth — no matter what the Bengals or Dolphins do.

The only reason this is a topic is because Burrow has beaten the Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium and the Bengals have an offense that can score with anyone. No team should be afraid of their offensive line and defense, which is an easy weakness to exploit. If the Bengals do make the playoffs and win in the wild-card round, they would face the Chiefs in their first playoff game.

The Chiefs aren’t scared of the Bengals, but who could blame them if they let the Broncos win and rest their starters for Week 18. They earned that right.

Packers are the most overrated team in the NFC

Overreaction or reality: Reality

Another opportunity to beat a team with 10+ wins for the Packers ended in a loss. The Packers fell to 0-5 against the Vikings, Lions and Eagles this season — the three teams in the conference with 13+ wins and the three teams with a better record than them in the conference.

The Packers are 2-5 against teams that currently have 10+ wins, but that victory was over a Rams team without Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. There is no victory on the Packers’ schedule that convinces anyone they can make a playoff run in the NFC, nor beat any of the elite teams in the conference.

Green Bay is a good team, and the Packers’ five losses to these 13+ win teams are by a combined 22 points. The goose egg in the win column makes them overrated, but they can change that narrative in the playoffs.

Giants won’t have a winning season for another three years

Overreaction or reality: Reality

Give it to the Giants for winning a football game when they shouldn’t have. The Giants didn’t win a 10-9 barn burner either, scoring 45 points as Drew Lock threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns while rookie Malik Nabers had 171 yards and two scores.

All the Giants had to do was lose out and the No. 1 pick would have been theirs. They could have paired Nabers and 1,000-yard rookie running back Tyrone Tracy with a quarterback who would have been picked No. 1 overall and immediately changed the fortunes of their franchise.

With the win, the Giants won’t have an opportunity to get that franchise quarterback unless they trade up (which they didn’t have to do). By virtue of strength of schedule, the Giants will now pick at No. 4 instead of No. 1 — a major difference in getting a franchise quarterback compared to a difference-maker somewhere else.

The Giants needed a quarterback in the worst way. They likely won’t get the best quarterback on the board, and will have to trust their front office to make the right pick. Whether it’s Joe Schoen at general manager or someone else, good luck with that.

Brock Bowers is Offensive Rookie of the Year

Overreaction or reality: Overreaction

In most years, Bowers would earn this award for his accolades. The Raiders star broke Mike Ditka’s 63-year-old record for most receiving yards by a tight end in his rookie season, having 1,144 yards in his first year in the league. Bowers also has 108 catches, the most by any rookie in league history.

There’s even more history at stake for Bowers, as he’s just eight catches away from tying Zach Ertz for most receptions by any tight end in a season (116). Bowers is second in the NFL in catches and sixth in receiving yards, showcasing how elite of a receiver he is in Year 1.

Bowers isn’t getting Travis Kelce’s single-season receiving yards record for a tight end (1,416), but he’s having a historic rookie campaign. Unfortunately, so is Jayden Daniels, who is the first player in league history to have 10+ wins, 30+ total touchdowns and 4,000+ total yards in his rookie season.

Daniels will take home the hardware, but Bowers certainly should get votes.

NFL Week 17 brought some surprising results and plenty of overreactions from fans and analysts alike. Here are a few hot takes from the final week of the regular season:

1. Eagles letting Saquon Barkley break rushing record: The Philadelphia Eagles defense had no answer for New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley in Week 17, as he rushed for a career-high 234 yards and broke the single-game rushing record. Some fans are questioning the Eagles’ effort and game planning, wondering how they could let Barkley have such a dominant performance. Is this a sign of bigger issues for the Eagles defense, or just a fluke game?

2. Chiefs should keep Bengals out of playoffs: The Kansas City Chiefs secured the AFC’s top seed with a win over the Denver Broncos in Week 17, but some fans are already looking ahead to the playoffs and hoping the Chiefs can keep the Cincinnati Bengals out of the postseason. The Bengals have been a surprise team this year, but some believe they don’t have what it takes to make a deep playoff run. Should the Chiefs be concerned about facing the Bengals in the playoffs, or are fans overreacting to one game?

Nick Sirianni still undecided about playing Eagles starters in Week 18

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni spoke to reporters on Monday following their Week 17 win over the Cowboys, and was asked a lot about whether he plans to play or rest starters on Sunday against the Giants. He also talked about Tanner McKee’s impressive performance, and gave a lot of credit to Cam Jurgens for the team’s success this season.

Here’s what the head coach had to say:

On playing starters and injury updates

Sirianni said that he still wasn’t ready to make or announce any decision regarding whether starters will play, or if Saquon Barkley, specifically, will have a chance to get the all-time rushing record. He gave players off on Monday, and said he’ll always inform them about any decisions before announcing them publicly.

The head coach also didn’t have any update on Jalen Hurts and how he’s progressing through the concussion protocol. If Hurts is cleared this week, Sirianni wouldn’t say if he would play on Sunday against the Giants, noting only that he has to do what’s best for the team and what’s best for each individual player.

He also didn’t have any update on Kenny Pickett after the quarterback underwent additional testing on his ribs. Sirianni lauded Pickett and the toughness he showed playing through the pain and playing really good football to help them win that game. The head coach didn’t have any more information as to whether Pickett will play on Sunday against the Giants.

While he hasn’t made the decision just yet, Sirianni did explain how it’s a good opportunity for depth guys to get some experience and film if he does opt to rest the starters.

“Again, I don’t know where we are with that yet. But anytime anybody’s able to play game reps and meaningful snaps in the NFL, that’s huge. It gives you an evaluation process. It gives those guys an opportunity that haven’t gotten an opportunity to play to play meaningful reps.

That’s always huge when you can do that. Like I said, we’ll see where we are with that, but a good opportunity if that is the way we go.”

On Tanner McKee’s performance

“Obviously he had, what, 3-for-4 with two touchdowns. That’s pretty darn good. Then threw another one that A.J. [Brown] made probably one of the best catches I’ve ever seen on. He just happened to be a little bit out of bounds, but the ball was in the right place. He went [to] the right place with the football.

Accurate with the football. Ran our offense well. Got us in and out of checks. Was sound with his communication at the line of scrimmage and in the huddle. He did a lot of good things.”

On Cam Jurgens’ season

“I think he’s done a really nice job. It’s never easy to replace a legend, which we all know how special of a player and leader Jason Kelce was. So he’s had to step in and fill those shoes, and I think he’s done a really nice job.

Obviously you look at everything first. You look at having 13 wins. Cam [Jurgens] is the center of a 13-win football team. He’s got to play good for that to happen. He’s played good for us to be able to do that.

You’ve got a 2,000-yard rusher, which is special. The center’s got to play good for that to happen as well.

I think all the writing is on the wall of how good of football he’s played and all the good things he’s done based off what this team has done. And never easy to do what he had to do there, but he’s really played good football through these 16 games.”

Other notables

  • Sirianni explained that they had Jake Elliott handle kick-offs instead of Brandon Mann against the Cowboys because they were focusing on some specific ball placement things with KaVontae Turpin as the returner. The head coach called Turpin a dangerous player, and credited the Eagles special teams unit for keeping things contained.
  • With a postseason game already on the books, Sirianni was asked if his staff would be starting to prepare for potential playoff opponents. The head coach scoffed at the idea and said they are only focused on one day at a time, and are preparing for the Giants.
  • When asked about the defense finally getting takeaways, Sirianni said that it’s something they work on and talk about every day, and sometimes things happen in clusters. Plus, he included, once guys start getting turnovers, they have a little more confidence and experience and are able to get on a roll.

As the regular season comes to a close, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni finds himself facing a tough decision. With the team already securing a playoff spot, many are wondering if Sirianni will rest his starters in Week 18 to avoid any potential injuries before the postseason.

In a recent press conference, Sirianni admitted that he is still undecided about whether or not to play his starters in the final game of the season. He emphasized the importance of balancing the desire to stay healthy with the need to maintain momentum heading into the playoffs.

On one hand, resting key players could help prevent injuries and give them some much-needed rest before the postseason. On the other hand, keeping the starters in the game could help the team stay sharp and maintain their competitive edge.

Ultimately, Sirianni’s decision will likely depend on a variety of factors, including the overall health of his players, the team’s performance in recent games, and the importance of securing a higher seed in the playoffs.

Eagles fans will have to wait and see what Sirianni ultimately decides, but one thing is for certain – the final game of the regular season will be an important one for the team as they prepare for what lies ahead in the playoffs.

Saquon Barkley eclipses 2,000-yard mark as Eagles clinch NFC East

PHILADELPHIA — Eagles running back Saquon Barkley on Sunday became just the ninth player in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season.

The accomplishment came in the fourth quarter of a 41-7 victory over the Dallas Cowboys that clinched the NFC East Division title for the Eagles.

“Being a fan of the game and the running back position, to reach a milestone and put myself up there with eight other backs that I respect, and some I grew up watching, definitely means a lot,” Barkley said, donning an NFC East champion hat for the first time in his career. “But at the same time, I wouldn’t be able to do that without this team. You can’t be great without the greatness of others.”

The coaching staff kept Barkley in the game in the fourth quarter despite Philadelphia holding a big lead. He was handed the ball on five straight plays, the last of which was a 23-yard scamper down the left side that put him over 2,000 yards.

Barkley trotted to the sideline and received a pat on the head from lineman Mekhi Becton and a hug from offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Coach Nick Sirianni then called a timeout, allowing the rest of his teammates to swarm Barkley and offer their congratulations while the fans broke into “MVP” chants.

“It’s a testament to him, coming to another team, first year, a lot of expectations. He’s truly a super-talented football player, a great teammate,” right tackle Lane Johnson said. “I was happy for him.”

Barkley was replaced in the lineup by Kenneth Gainwell after surpassing the 2,000-yard mark. Barkley finished with 167 yards on 31 carries. He is now just 101 yards from breaking Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record (2,105 yards).

Now the question becomes: With the division wrapped up and the chances slim of capturing the No. 1 seed in the NFC, will he have a chance to chase Dickerson in the regular-season finale against the New York Giants?

Sirianni will have to weigh allowing Barkley the chance to capture the rarest of records versus ensuring his health heading into the postseason.

“I always have to do what’s right for the football team to reach our goals of what we need to do,” Sirianni said. “I’ve got a lot to think about.”

Johnson’s stance was that the group had accomplished its goal of surpassing 2,000 yards and suggested the starters should rest Week 18 under the philosophy that it’s “better to be safe than sorry.”

Left tackle Jordan Mailata, meanwhile, said he will “push for” the starters to play against New York even if the game has no meaning in terms of playoff seeding, though he sounded unsure whether Sirianni would go for it.

“It’s an opportunity to make history,” Mailata said. “We never really spoke about the Giants next week, but we just had the feeling that if we don’t go for it today, we might sit out. We don’t know. Coach hasn’t really said anything yet. We’ll see.”

Barkley said he’ll be fine with whatever Sirianni decides.

“Whatever his decision is, I’m all for it,” Barkley said. “If his mindset is, we’ll go out there and try it, I’ll go out there and try it. If his mindset is, let’s rest and get ready for this run, I’m all for that, too … I came here to do something special. Breaking a record is special but I want a banner up there. I think we all do.”

With the win, the Eagles completed their first season sweep of the Cowboys since 2011. This is the 20th straight season the NFC East does not have a repeat champion, which is the longest streak in NFL history.

Philadelphia accomplished the feat while operating with its No. 2 and No. 3 quarterbacks at the controls.

Kenny Pickett got the start for Jalen Hurts, who suffered a concussion against the Washington Commanders last week. Pickett, a New Jersey native who grew up cheering for the Eagles, had a strong performance (10 of 15, 143 yards, 2 total touchdowns) but was playing through injured ribs and had to exit the game after a couple of hard hits during the opening series of the second half.

“I’m good. I’ll be all right,” Pickett said. “Came in with a little bit of an injury. We’ll do some more tests to see how it looks, but I’ll be OK.”

Tanner McKee, the 2023 sixth-round pick out of Stanford, received the bulk of the first-team reps Friday so Pickett could rest, Johnson said. McKee made the most of his opportunity, going 3-of-4 for 54 yards with 2 touchdown tosses.

The Eagles (13-3) reached 13 wins for just the fourth time in franchise history. The other three times (2004, 2017, 2022) they went to the Super Bowl.

There is one game left before the playoffs. Should Barkley sit out that game against his former team, it would be just fine with Dickerson, who made it clear to the Los Angeles Times he does not want Barkley to break his long-standing record.

“If you had a record, would you want me to break your record?” Barkley said when asked to respond to Dickerson’s comments. “It’s an honor to … have your name attached to that record and having guys chase it. Guys have been chasing that record for 40 years. I don’t see it as a shot, I don’t see it as throwing shade. You shouldn’t want me to break that record. That’s how I look at it.”

In a thrilling season finale, Saquon Barkley made history by surpassing the 2,000-yard rushing mark, solidifying his place as one of the league’s top running backs. Barkley’s incredible performance helped lead the Eagles to a crucial victory, clinching the NFC East division title and securing a spot in the playoffs.

Barkley’s dominant display on the field was a sight to behold, as he consistently broke tackles, made defenders miss, and showcased his incredible speed and agility. His determination and talent were on full display as he carried the team on his back and delivered when it mattered most.

With the Eagles heading to the playoffs as division champions, Barkley’s record-breaking season has undoubtedly been a key factor in their success. As they prepare for the postseason, fans are hopeful that Barkley’s exceptional play will continue to propel the team towards their ultimate goal of a Super Bowl victory.

Congratulations to Saquon Barkley and the Eagles on their remarkable accomplishments this season. The future looks bright for this talented team, and fans can’t wait to see what they will achieve in the playoffs.

Sirianni and Ertz cleared the air after exchanging words following Washington’s win over the Eagles

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni and Commanders tight end Zach Ertz cleared the air after they exchanged words following Washington’s comeback win over Philadelphia on Sunday.

Videos show Ertz gave Sirianni a high-five as they were headed in opposite directions. Sirianni turned to say something to Ertz, who then turned around and walked back toward his former coach.

Sirianni called Ertz this week to apologize, according to an ESPN report.

“I’ll just keep my conversations with any guys private,” Sirianni said Thursday. “I’ve got a lot of respect for Zach. Great football player, great person to be around. I’ve really got a lot of respect for Zach, and all the good things that he’s done, and my relationship with him.”

Ertz spent his first eight-plus seasons with the Eagles, catching the go-ahead touchdown pass from Nick Foles in the franchise’s only Super Bowl victory. He was traded to Arizona during the 2021 season after playing six games under Sirianni.

“Nick and I had a great relationship when I was there, and we still have a great relationship. It’s definitely been blown way out of proportion,” Ertz told reporters. “We spoke. We’re good. There’s no ill feelings on my part, and I don’t think there are any ill feelings on his part. It’s just something in the heat of the moment that probably got blown out of proportion and maybe a misunderstanding. But him and I are fine. Everyone knows how I feel about that place and that building, but at the same time, I love being here.”

Ertz was a three-time Pro Bowl pick in Philadelphia and set a single-season record for most catches by a tight end with 116 in 2018 playing for Doug Pederson.

“I didn’t mean any disrespect by it,” Ertz said of his hard high-five with Sirianni. “It’s not a story in my eyes. I haven’t thought about this since Sunday.”

In a recent development, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and tight end Zach Ertz have reportedly cleared the air after exchanging words following the team’s loss to the Washington Football Team.

The incident occurred after the Eagles’ disappointing performance in their Week 15 matchup, where tensions were high and frustrations were evident. However, both Sirianni and Ertz have since addressed the issue and have moved forward in a positive manner.

It’s not uncommon for emotions to run high after a tough loss, but it’s encouraging to see both coach and player come together to address any issues and move forward as a united team. As the Eagles look to bounce back and finish the season strong, it’s important for everyone involved to be on the same page and focused on the ultimate goal of success.

With this incident now behind them, Sirianni and Ertz can focus on working together to improve and strive for better results in the games to come. Here’s hoping this resolution leads to a stronger, more cohesive team moving forward.

Eagles, Bills lock up No. 2 seeds; who’s still alive in playoff race?

4) Miami Dolphins: They beat the Browns without Tua Tagovailoa to keep their playoff hopes alive. Their path is straighter than the Bengals’: The Broncos must lose and the Dolphins have to beat the Jets to send the Dolphins into the postseason.

5) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Their 48-14 demolition of the Carolina Panthers keep the Bucs alive for the NFC South title going into Week 18. The Bucs hold a one-game lead in the division after Atlanta’s Sunday night loss and can clinch the title with a victory over the Carolina Panthers next week. They must finish a game ahead of the Falcons to win the NFC South because a tie in record gives the division to the Falcons, who swept the Bucs in the regular season.

6) Buffalo Bills: They locked up the AFC’s No. 2 seed, meaning they will face the AFC’s No. 7 seed and would only have to leave home during the playoffs for an AFC Championship Game if it is in Kansas City. Just as importantly, the Bills defense looked a lot better than it did during its curiously porous performance against the Patriots in Week 16. They made Aaron Rodgers miserable, sacking him four times, intercepting him twice and keeping the Jets off the scoreboard until Tyrod Taylor had replaced him.

7) Green Bay Packers: It was too little, too late but the Packers offense came roaring back from a 17-point deficit with about 7 minutes remaining against the Vikings, showcasing what will make the Packers a dangerous opponent in the playoffs — Jordan Love letting it rip. The Packers were swept by the Lions and Vikings this season, but they are still in.

8) Los Angeles Rams: They clinched the NFC West after beating the Cardinals on Saturday night and then sitting back and watching the strength of victory tiebreaker – the fifth tiebreaker — fall into place for them. Wins by the Bills, Vikings and Commanders on Sunday gave the Rams the edge over the Seattle Seahawks. There might be better ways to spend a day off in the NFL, but we can’t think of any.

9) Washington Commanders: Their Sunday night victory over the Falcons, in an overtime drive fittingly dominated by Jayden Daniels, clinched a wild-card spot for the Commanders, the biggest step in their dramatic turnaround from a 4-13 season in 2023. If they finish as the No. 7 seed, the Commanders would face the Eagles on Super Wild Card Weekend. The teams split their regular-season meetings.

As the regular season comes to a close, the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills have both secured the No. 2 seeds in their respective conferences. With their impressive performances throughout the season, these two teams have solidified their spots in the upcoming playoffs.

But as we look ahead to the postseason, the question remains: who is still alive in the playoff race? Several teams are still vying for a spot in the playoffs, with crucial games in the final week of the regular season set to determine their fate.

In the AFC, teams like the Los Angeles Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, and Baltimore Ravens are still in the hunt for a playoff berth. These teams will need to win their final games and hope for some help from other teams in order to secure a spot in the postseason.

In the NFC, the race is just as tight, with teams like the New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers, and Dallas Cowboys all fighting for a playoff spot. These teams will need to come out on top in their final games and hope for some favorable outcomes in other matchups to keep their playoff hopes alive.

As we head into the final week of the regular season, the playoff picture is far from set. With so much on the line, the intensity of these games is sure to be at an all-time high. Stay tuned to see which teams will emerge victorious and secure a spot in the playoffs.

Washington Commanders’ Jayden Daniels Nominated For Awards After Win Over Eagles

The Washington Commanders have been special this season. Their 10-5 record through 15 games is their best start in as many games since 1991. That season, they happened to capture a Super Bowl victory.

To add to the incredible storyline, the Commanders are finding this success just one season removed from a 4-13 finish. They cleaned the house, and it’s paid off. However, the arrival of Jayden Daniels under center can’t be understated.

The LSU product and former Heisman winner has been outright remarkable as a rookie quarterback in the NFL. He’s helped lead the Commanders’ impressive turnaround, and he’s had some incredible moments in doing so.

In week 16, Daniels led Washington to a huge 36-33 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Their NFC East rivals are leading the division race with the season winding down, but the win was even more important as it pertains to earning a wild card bid to the playoffs.

The Commanders needed 22 fourth-quarter points to mount a comeback and secure a victory, and Daniels provided just that in the matchup. In fact, he finished the game with 258 passing yards and five touchdowns while completing 24 of his 39 passes.

After the stellar effort to lead Washington to the comeback victory, Daniels was nominated for the FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week, according to a release. The award goes to the best quarterback, wide receiver or running back any given week.

The two players with the highest votes following the end of voting on Wednesday will win the award. Along with Daniels, Jonathan Taylor, Justin Jefferson, De’Von Achane and Chuba Hubbard were nominated.

Daniels has now been nominated for this award on three different occassions.

With the award winners, FedEx is donating $2,000 per winner each week ($4,000 total) to HBCUs across the nation.

Daniels’ outstanding play has earned him nominations for several prestigious awards, showcasing his talent and impact on the field.

Despite facing a tough opponent in the Eagles, Daniels showcased his poise and skill throughout the game, leading the Commanders to a crucial victory. His ability to make key plays under pressure and lead his team to success has not gone unnoticed, as he has now been nominated for awards such as the Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week.

Daniels’ performance has not only impressed fans and analysts but has also solidified his role as a key player for the Commanders moving forward. His leadership and playmaking abilities have been instrumental in the team’s success this season, and his nominations for these awards only further highlight his impact on the field.

Could Eagles Sign Ex-Giants $160 Million QB?

The Philadelphia Eagles certainly got a scare from their Week 16 matchup against the Washington Commanders.

Philadelphia star quarterback Jalen Hurts went down early in the divisional matchup with a concussion and was forced to miss most of the game. Now, it’s unclear if he will be ready for Week 17.

If Hurts can’t go, the Eagles will have to make do with Kenny Pickett and Tanner McKee against the Dallas Cowboys. Philadelphia hasn’t locked up the NFC East yet and so it still is very important to get at least one more win in the regular season.

Because of the uncertainty, could the Eagles look to bring in another quarterback depth option? It wouldn’t be the worst idea but there aren’t many options available in free agency with just two weeks to go in the regular season. There could be an intriguing option available on another team’s practice squad, though.

Former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones had a rough ending to his time with the team. He landed a four-year, $160 million deal but was benched this year and eventually was let go. He landed with the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad and has been there over the last few weeks.

Now that Hurts has a concussion, could the Eagles get Jones? Technically, it is possible. Teams can sign players off other teams’ practice squads if they were to add them to the active roster.

If the Eagles wanted to make another move, adding Jones would give the team a better chance to win than either Pickett or McKee. Plus, this move would reunite Jones with former Giants teammate Saquon Barkley. Nothing should be considered likely, but this could be a fun way to end the regular season.

More NFL: Eagles’ Nick Sirianni Responds To C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s Ejection

The Philadelphia Eagles have been making waves in the NFL offseason, with rumors swirling that they could potentially sign ex-New York Giants quarterback, Daniel Jones.

Jones, who signed a $160 million contract with the Giants in 2019, has not quite lived up to expectations in his time with the team. With the Giants looking to potentially move on from the young quarterback, the Eagles could be a potential landing spot for him.

While Jones has shown flashes of talent in his time with the Giants, he has also struggled with turnovers and inconsistency. However, with a change of scenery and a new offensive system, Jones could potentially thrive with the Eagles.

It remains to be seen if the Eagles will make a move for Jones, but it would certainly shake up the NFC East and add an interesting dynamic to the rivalry between the Eagles and Giants. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
