Jalen Tolbert injury update: Status vs. Eagles in Week 17
Unfortunately, it has been confirmed that Jalen Tolbert has suffered a significant injury and will be unable to play in the upcoming Week 17 matchup against the Eagles. Tolbert, who has been a key player for the team throughout the season, will be sorely missed on the field.
The extent of Tolbert’s injury has not been disclosed, but reports indicate that it is serious enough to keep him out of the final game of the regular season. The team will have to rely on other receivers to step up in his absence and fill the void left by his absence.
Despite this setback, the team remains focused on securing a victory in their last game of the season and finishing strong. Fans can still expect an exciting and competitive game as the team fights for a win in Tolbert’s absence.
Stay tuned for more updates on Jalen Tolbert’s injury and his status for the upcoming playoffs. Let’s hope for a speedy recovery for this talented player. #GetWellSoonJalen #GoTeam!

The Philadelphia Eagles will face off against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday in what could be make-or-break for Saquon Barkley’s chances of making history.
Barkley currently has 1,838 rushing yards on the season. He is 162 rushing yards away from becoming the ninth running back in National Football League history to rush for 2,000 yards or more. He’s also 268 rushing yards from breaking the all-time single-season rushing record of 2,105 held by Eric Dickerson.
The Eagles superstar has been electric this year and has a chance to make history this year with two games left in the season, but Sunday’s is the most important for his record chase. If the Eagles win on Sunday, they will clinch the NFC East and may not need to play their starters next week. Therefore, he will need to have a huge game on Sunday to give himself a chance.
He has two games with over 162 rushing yards in a single game this season, including a 255-yard eye-popping performance against the Los Angeles Rams. He’ll need another huge game like that on Sunday.
If he can get close to 2,000 yards, it wouldn’t be too shocking to see the team give him a few chances next week against his former team, but he may not have a huge workload if they win and lock up their playoff seeding. If he wants to have any real chance at the record, he needs to do something special on Sunday.
The Dallas Cowboys game this weekend is a make-or-break moment for Philadelphia Eagles’ star running back Saquon Barkley. With the Eagles sitting at 3-5 and desperately needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, Barkley will need to have a standout performance against their division rival.
Barkley, who has been dealing with injuries throughout the season, has shown flashes of his elite talent but has yet to have a breakout game. With the Eagles’ offense struggling to find consistency, they will need Barkley to step up and be a difference-maker on the field.
The Cowboys have a strong defense, but Barkley has the skills to break through their line and make big plays. If he can have a big game and help lead the Eagles to a much-needed victory, it could be the spark the team needs to turn their season around.
The pressure is on for Barkley to deliver in this crucial game, and Eagles fans will be watching closely to see if he can rise to the occasion. This matchup could be a defining moment for Barkley and the Eagles’ season, so all eyes will be on him as he takes the field against the Cowboys.

The Eagles made a flurry of roster moves the day before facing the Cowboys on Sunday afternoon at the Linc.
Here’s a complete rundown of all their moves:
• Bryce Huff activated off IR to 53-man roster
• WR Britain Covey (neck) placed on IR
• DE Charles Harris waived
• QB Ian Book signed to 53-man roster from P-Squad
• RB Tyrion Davis-Price, LB Dallas Gant elevated for Sunday
Huff had wrist surgery back on Nov. 21 to repair a torn ligament. He had his practice window opened last week but needed a bit more time to return to the field. The corresponding move for his roster spot was the release of veteran Charles Harris, who played minimally in his time with the Eagles. Expect Huff to play with his wrist wrapped in this game; he still has more function in that hand than he did before surgery.
Covey has missed the last three games with a lingering neck injury despite being listed as a full participant in practice. The injury was enough to keep him off the field and the Eagles could no longer afford to use that roster spot on Covey. Without him, the Eagles will continue to rely on Cooper DeJean as their primary punt returner.
Book was brought back to the practice squad earlier this week and will serve as the third quarterback on Sunday behind Kenny Pickett and Tanner McKee. Jalen Hurts (concussion) was ruled out on Friday. By adding Book to the 53-man roster, the Eagles can utilize the emergency quarterback rule. That basically means that Book will be inactive on Sunday but can enter the game if Pickett and McKee both get hurt. He won’t have to be one of the 48 active players on game day.
Without Will Shipley (concussion), the Eagles elevated Davis-Price for this game. And with Nakobe Dean (abdomen) listed as doubtful, they elevated Gant. Both will be presumably be active against the Cowboys on Sunday.
The Philadelphia Eagles have made a flurry of roster moves ahead of their highly anticipated matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. According to NBC Sports Philadelphia, the Eagles have made several changes to their roster in an effort to improve their chances of securing a victory against their NFC East rivals.
One of the most notable moves made by the Eagles is the signing of veteran wide receiver DeSean Jackson. Jackson, who previously played for the Eagles from 2008 to 2013 and again in 2019, brings a wealth of experience and playmaking ability to the team’s receiving corps. His speed and deep threat capabilities could provide a much-needed boost to the Eagles’ offense.
In addition to signing Jackson, the Eagles have also made several other roster moves, including promoting rookie running back Kenneth Gainwell from the practice squad and releasing cornerback Michael Jacquet. These moves come as the Eagles look to address areas of need and make the necessary adjustments to compete with the Cowboys, who currently sit atop the NFC East standings.
With these roster changes in place, the Eagles will look to put forth their best effort against the Cowboys and potentially secure a crucial victory in the division race. Fans will be eagerly awaiting to see how these moves impact the team’s performance on game day. Stay tuned for more updates on the Eagles’ roster and their upcoming matchup against the Cowboys.
Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was fined $22,511 for each of his unsportsmanlike conduct penalties against the Commanders last week.
Not only did Gardner-Johnson get tossed from that game but his fines total $45,022 for the afternoon.
Gardner-Johnson, 27, was tossed early in the third quarter against the Commanders and the Eagles definitely missed him the rest of the way in their 36-33 loss.
Those two were the only fines from a chippy Eagles-Commanders game in Week 16.
The reason Gardner-Johnson’s fines were so high from this game is because these are not his first offenses. In fact, he had been hit with three unsportsmanlike conduct fines earlier this season.
In 2024, Gardner-Johnson has been fined five times for unsportsmanlike conduct for a total of $90,043 and was hit for another $11,255 for unnecessary roughness. That makes his total $101,298 in fines this season.
While it’s unclear exactly what Gardner-Johnson said to warrant both of those penalties and subsequent fines, there’s no doubt that it hurt the team when he was kicked out of the game.
“Yeah, we’ve got to be better than that,” defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said. “We don’t want that as part of our team. We don’t want to be known for that. Our guys have to do a better job of not getting those fouls.”
As of Monday, the day after the loss, head coach Nick Sirianni said the Eagles hadn’t gotten any further explantation for why Gardner-Johnson was kicked out of the game.
Gardner-Johnson is known for his fiery personality but it’s obviously not great to see him get kicked out of games.
“You never want to have penalties like that,” Sirianni said. “I always encourage our guys to be themselves, have fun when you’re celebrating, play how you play, but do it within the confines of the rules. That’s something I say to our guys all the time. That’s the same message here. Obviously, you don’t want those situations. I love how much energy and fire those guys play with, but obviously at no point do you want them to get a penalty or is it acceptable to get a penalty.
“But, like I said, there is a reason we have an edge on defense. We have really good players who play with great passion and great fire. That’s huge. We just always have got to understand and know to do it within the confines of the rules.”
Eagles’ C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s wallet takes hit after Commanders game – NBC Sports Philadelphia
Philadelphia Eagles’ cornerback C.J. Gardner-Johnson may have taken a hit to his wallet after the team’s recent game against the Washington Commanders. According to reports, Gardner-Johnson was fined by the NFL for a late hit during the game, adding insult to injury after the Eagles’ loss.
The incident occurred in the second quarter when Gardner-Johnson was flagged for a hit on Washington’s quarterback, leading to a 15-yard penalty. The NFL has since announced that Gardner-Johnson will be fined for the hit, although the exact amount has not been disclosed.
Despite the setback, Gardner-Johnson remains focused on improving his performance and helping the Eagles bounce back in their next game. Fans are hopeful that he will learn from this experience and continue to contribute positively to the team’s success.
Stay tuned for updates on Gardner-Johnson’s fine and the Eagles’ upcoming games as they look to turn things around and make a push for the playoffs.
The Dallas Cowboys return to action on Sunday, playing both their next-to-last game against the NFC East and for the season as a whole. Week 17 holds no promise or drama though, as Dallas was eliminated from the playoff race last week and has been reduced to the role of spoiler.
Last week’s win knocked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of first place in the NFC South and handed control over to the Atlanta Falcons. This week, the Cowboys take on the Philadelphia Eagles, who are currently leading the East by two games with two to go.
If the Eagles lose out and Washington wins out, the Commanders take the NFC East title. Also, the Eagles have a longshot chance at the No. 1 seed in the playoffs if they win out, Detroit loses out and Minnesota falls to Green Bay this weekend.
As such, it would be beneficial to them to have their franchise quarterback, Jalen Hurts, under center. Hurts has had a bounce back year and kept the Eagles from fading down the stretch as they did in 2023. However a concussion suffered in last week’s loss to Washington, which snapped the team’s 10-game winning streak, put his playing status in jeopardy.
Veteran signal caller Kenny Pickett will replace him in the starting lineup. Pickett, the former Steelers QB, will make his first start of the season against a Dallas defense that has been ravaged by injury this season. The Cowboys have won four of their last five games on the strength of Mike Zimmer’s defense turning the corner on the year.
Without Dak Prescott under center, Dallas has relied on QB pressure and creating turnovers, a formula they were used to under Dan Quinn for three years but one that didn’t work through the first half of the season.
QB Cooper Rush will look to exorcise his demons against the Eagles, having his two worst starting performances of his career against them. The seventh-year UDFA is now 9-4 as a starter.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts injury update, game status Week 17 vs Cowboys
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts suffered a lower body injury during the team’s Week 16 matchup against the Washington Football Team. The severity of the injury is currently unknown, but Hurts was seen limping on the sideline and did not return to the game.
As of now, Hurts’ status for the Eagles’ Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys is uncertain. The coaching staff is closely monitoring his condition and will make a decision closer to game time.
If Hurts is unable to play, backup quarterback Nate Sudfeld is expected to step in and lead the Eagles’ offense against their division rivals. Sudfeld has seen limited playing time this season, but he is ready to step up if called upon.
Eagles fans are hopeful that Hurts will be able to recover in time for the crucial Week 17 matchup, as the team looks to finish the season strong and potentially secure a playoff spot. Stay tuned for further updates on Hurts’ injury status and game availability.
I’ve got news this week about the Spring Grove Cinema continuing under new ownership, the upcoming closing of the Eagles Nest sports bar and grill, and the openings of LAX Leaves and of a woodworking firm’s new showroom.
Above, Lucas Hall posed last week in front of the Spring Grove Cinema at 167 W. The theater closed Monday for renovations and licensing work, and Hall plans to reopen it in February.

The Spring Grove Cinema at 167 W. Main St. in downtown Spring Grove, Minn., was sold Monday by Spring Grove Communications to Lucas Hall, who plans to continue it as a movie theater, and as a venue for live entertainment and other events.
Hall also plans to create a coffee shop in the concessions area, which will be open during movies and at other times during the week, which also will sell such movie staples as popcorn, candy and soda pop. And he will partner with the local school district to create a student center in part of the building, for eSports, a design lab for high school students and other activities.
The cinema closed Monday for renovations and licensing work that Hall is undertaking. “I’m hoping to be open in February,” Hall told me.

Spring Grove Communications is a cooperative that provides broadband, voice and video services. It built the cinema, which opened in 2009.
In October, the co-op announced that the cinema was being offered for sale through a bid process, and said the co-op would focus on its greatest strength — making lives better by providing an exceptional broadband experience. It chose Hall’s bid for the cinema.
“Lucas Hall presented a bid with a strong, well-thought-out proposal for the future operations of the cinema space, including diversified services and opportunities for collaborations,” said Jacqui VanMinsel, the co-op’s director of business and community affairs. “The cooperative board strongly believes in making the choice that provides the best outcome for its members. Hall told me he plans to continue showing first- and second-run movies at the cinema, and occasionally classic and foreign films. He has been reviewing attendance figures for past films. “Maybe there will be some tweaks” to the kinds of movies shown at the theater, he said. “But it will still be kind of what the community wants in terms of the new movies coming out. So the movies won’t change too much. And there will be many more live performances and other events to come.”
The Eagles Nest sports bar and grill at 1914 Campbell Road, across from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, announced Sunday on its Facebook page that it will close effective Feb. 1.
“We will still host the large groups and parties we have on the books in January and February,” the Facebook post continued. “We will take this time to clean out our equipment and inventory and try to sell and salvage what we can.” The post did not give a reason for the Eagles Nest closing.
I had noticed earlier that the business was for sale. “The Eagles Nest is looking for its next great owner to ensure the game day tradition continues for the foreseeable future,” a July 19 post on its Facebook page had said.

Jack Wieman opened LAX Leaves on Nov. 29 in Suite 214 in the Crosseroads Center shopping center at 9348 State Hwy. 16 in Onalaska.
“They’re all industrial hemp-derived products,” such as edibles, other food products, topicals, concentrates, vapes and tinctures, he said of his store’s merchandise. Wieman plans to hold a grand opening celebration sometime in early to mid-January.
Store hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Wieman, an Onalaska native, said he worked in the hemp industry for a few years in Colorado before returning to this area to open his store. He received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2022, then worked in an extraction laboratory that extracted ingredients for products made from industrial hemp.
David Pehl and his father, Dave Pehl, held a grand opening celebration Dec. 6 for the new showroom at their Turners Ridge Wood Workz business in Suite 127/128 in the Coulee Region Business Center, also known as the small business incubator, at 1100 Kane St. on the North Side of La Crosse.
David, who graduated from Holmen High School in 2020, started the business as a hobby in 2019. It began in his family’s garage, then moved to a shed built in the family’s back yard, before moving to the incubator about two years ago. His father retired after nearly 30 years of working in law enforcement and 23 years in the Army.
The Pehls custom make such things as cutting boards, charcuterie boards, cribbage boards, crosses, pens, wine bottle holders, coasters, plaques and furniture. They sell much of their merchandise at county fairs and craft shows.
“And we have some partnerships with businesses in the community where we provide custom-made items for them to give to customers or employees,” Dave said. “And we’re starting to see more orders come in online” on the Pehls’ website.
Dave Pehl said he and his son don’t use stains or dyes on their wood, and especially enjoy using wood that has a story behind it. For example, they recently made several cutting boards for several siblings from a tree on a farm that the family had recently sold.
Showroom hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with other hours available by appointment. For more information, call 608-797-6818 or visit www.turnersridgewoodworkz.com or Facebook.

After years of serving as a beloved entertainment spot in the community, Spring Grove Cinema is getting new owners. The current owners have announced that they will be selling the theater to a new group of investors who plan to bring fresh ideas and improvements to the cinema.
Unfortunately, along with this change, the iconic Eagles Nest, the cozy bar and lounge adjacent to the cinema, will be closing its doors for good. The Eagles Nest has been a popular spot for moviegoers to grab a drink before or after a film, and its closure will surely be felt by many in the community.
The new owners of Spring Grove Cinema have promised to revitalize the theater and create an even better experience for patrons. They plan to upgrade the facilities, introduce new programming, and enhance the overall atmosphere of the cinema.
While the closing of Eagles Nest is bittersweet, the changes at Spring Grove Cinema are sure to bring excitement and new opportunities for movie lovers in the area. Stay tuned for updates on the grand reopening and all the exciting changes coming to the theater!
In a Friday news conference, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said the starting quarterback was still in concussion protocol.
“It’s going to be tough for [Hurts] to make it this week,” Sirianni said, per ESPN’s Tim McManus.
Later that day, the Eagles officially declared Hurts would be out for the team’s Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Hurts suffered the concussion in the first quarter of the Eagles’ Week 16 loss to the Washington Commanders and was unable to return to the game. Philadelphia’s backup quarterback, Kenny Pickett, played the remainder of the divisional clash and is in line to start in Week 17.
The Eagles also signed quarterback Ian Book to their practice squad on Thursday in the wake of the news that Pickett was also banged up with a rib injury. Pickett was a full participant in practice on Thursday, though, so he should be good to go for Sunday’s game.
Second-year quarterback Tanner McKee is also on Philadelphia’s roster.
Hurts suffered a concussion in the first quarter of the Eagles’ Week 16 loss to the Commanders in Washington.
The Eagles’ quarterback was scrambling on a designed run – a quarterback draw play – and gained 13 yards before Washington linebackers Bobby Wagner and Frankie Luvu brought him down. During the tackle, Hurts’ head slammed against the ground.
It took the 26-year-old a couple of extra moments and the help of one of his offensive linemen to stand back up. He made eye contact with umpire Alex Moore before giving a thumbs up, but Moore still sent Hurts off to receive a concussion evaluation.
The quarterback went to the blue medical tent briefly before returning to the Eagles sideline. Moments later, trainers sent Hurts back to the locker room, where he was officially diagnosed with a concussion and ruled out.

Jalen Hurts injury updates
Late Friday afternoon, the Eagles officially declared Hurts out for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys as he continues to recover from his concussion.
Earlier on Friday, Sirianni told reporters that Hurts was still in the NFL’s concussion protocol and that it would “be tough for him to make it this week.”
Hurts was a non-participant in the Eagles’ Wednesday and Thursday practices, and several news outlets reported that the quarterback was nowhere to be seen at Friday’s practice.
Hurts will miss the Eagles’ Week 17 game while in the NFL’s concussion protocol. His progress in the coming days will dictate whether the quarterback will need to miss any more time.
There have been several players this season who have missed more than one game following a concussion diagnosis. Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missed four games earlier this year after sustaining a head injury in Week 2. Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence also ended up on injured reserve earlier this month after suffering a concussion in Week 13.
When Hurts returns depends on how much progress he’s able to make in the concussion protocol in the days – and potentially weeks – ahead.
Philadelphia has not stated where Hurts is in the protocol, but it’s clear he still has some way to go. As a result, he’ll miss Sunday’s game.
There is speculation swirling around the Eagles quarterback situation heading into Week 17. With Jalen Hurts dealing with an injury and uncertain if he will be able to play, the team may have to turn to backup quarterback Gardner Minshew to lead the offense. Stay tuned for updates on Hurts’ status and who will be under center for the Eagles in their crucial Week 17 matchup. #FlyEaglesFly #Week17 #QBUpdate

The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, two of the most bitter rivals in all of sports, will write another chapter in their long history this weekend. The Eagles can clinch an NFC East title with a win, but the Cowboys will try to play the role of spoiler.
The Eagles come into this matchup after suffering their first loss since Sept. 29. All eyes will be on the status of star quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is currently in the concussion protocol. If Hurts can’t go, Philadelphia’s offense will be weakened, though not completely defanged. That’s because Saquon Barkley, the NFL’s leading rusher is still in the backfield, and he is coming off a 150-yard and two-touchdown performance against the Washington Commanders.
On the other sideline, the Cowboys have been eliminated from playoff contention, but they can try to keep the Eagles from winning the division for at least one more week. Dallas has now strung together back-to-back wins with the latest one coming against an explosive Tampa Bay Buccaneers squad. But the Cowboys will have to do it without star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who was shut down for the season with a shoulder injury.

As noted, the offense has definitely evolved over the past month or so, in large part due to the impact of Rico Dowdle, as he approaches his first career 1,000-yard season, and CeeDee Lamb gutting through a painful shoulder injury to continually break records for the Cowboys.
But with Lamb now shut down for the remainder of the season as a precaution for 2025, Rush and the depth at receiver will truly be tested.
“His production [will be missed], you can speak on that,” Rush said. “But there are guys who are ready. We’ve got a really deep receivers’ room with guys that are champing at the bit to go and play.”
It’s a room that is, however, dealing with injury to depth players as well, e.g., Jalen Tolbert’s pinky and Jalen Brooks’ knee, so the degree of difficulty continues to increase for the Cowboys, but it’s nothing they’ve unaccustomed to, at this point.
And, as quiet as it’s kept, Rush has now outdueled three Heisman-winning opposing quarterbacks in the past five weeks and, having previously defeated Joe Burrow (2022), the Cowboys’ backup is now the only player in NFL history to have defeated four in his first 13 career starts.
With only two games remaining before he finds himself once again in free agency, it goes without saying that Rush wants to keep the good times rolling against the Philadelphia Eagles and then Washington Commanders.
“You’ve got two left only, and that’s all you’re promised and, as a backup, you go through stints where you won’t play for a while,” he said. “You cherish all these moments. You really enjoy it and, I think I’ve said it before, enjoying getting to go out there and play. … I don’t think the future is the driver because you always have something to prove.
“I think that’s everyone, league-wide. It’s everyone’s mindset, usually, as a competitor. Being in the NFL, that’s enough.”
With that, his focus is solely on what he can do against one of the best defenses in the league in the Eagles, and on their turf, but it’s not as if Rush and the Cowboys’ offense hasn’t proven itself capable of landing a gutsy upset on the road.
As the NFL season comes to a close, teams are starting to shift their focus towards the impending free agency period. With players like CeeDee Lamb set to hit the market, there is a sense of urgency among teams to secure their desired targets.
The absence of CeeDee Lamb in the upcoming game against the Eagles has left fans and analysts alike wondering how the Cowboys will fare without their star wide receiver. Lamb has been a key playmaker for Dallas this season, and his absence will undoubtedly be felt on the field.
As the Cowboys prepare to take on the Eagles without Lamb, the team will need to rely on their depth at the wide receiver position to make up for his absence. Players like Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup will need to step up and fill the void left by Lamb’s absence in order to keep their playoff hopes alive.
With free agency looming and key players like CeeDee Lamb potentially on the move, the Cowboys will need to make some tough decisions in the coming months. The team’s success in the playoffs may hinge on how they navigate the challenges of free agency and the absence of key players like Lamb.
