  • Midweek storm to bring a risk of severe weather, significant icing to central, eastern US

Following a mostly quiet and even mild start to the week across a large part of the eastern half of the nation, a large, multifaceted storm is expected to take shape by the middle of the week that can bring a variety of impacts, say AccuWeather meteorologists.

“A clash of warm, humid air and cold Arctic air will result in a myriad of impactful weather for millions of Americans this week,” said AccuWeather Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham. “Severe thunderstorms, a dangerous ice storm and accumulating snow are all expected between Wednesday and Thursday as a storm races east.”

The storm will signal the start of what could end up being one of the stormiest periods of the winter from the Plains to the East Coast during the first half of February, perhaps partially proving Punxsutawney Phil’s prognostication of six more weeks of winter correct.

As atmospheric ingredients come together over the central states Tuesday night into the Wednesday, the storm will be underway, and first on the docket will be a risk of an icy mix on its cold side and feisty thunderstorms on its warm side, warn AccuWeather experts.

Record-challenging warmth funneling northward into the Tennessee and Ohio River Valleys will help provide the ingredients necessary for widespread thunderstorm activity beginning Wednesday,” said Buckingham. “Some of the storms are even expected to turn severe.”

Thunderstorms are expected to blossom Wednesday afternoon around the Mississippi Valley, including the St. Louis area, before advancing toward the Ohio Valley during the evening and nighttime hours. Hail, damaging winds over 60 mph and torrential rain are the primary threats, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

Additional storms are expected farther south and east into the Tennessee Valley come Thursday, but widespread severe weather is not anticipated.

Meanwhile, on the colder side of the storm, a wintry mix of snow and ice can throw a wrench into travel plans for the middle of the week in some big cities such as Chicago, Detroit and Minneapolis. For some, the threats will go well beyond just a slippery mix.

“As the mild air mass clashes with frigid air farther north, the ingredients for a major ice storm are expected to be in place beginning Wednesday across a zone spanning from the Midwest to the Great Lakes,” warned Buckingham.

Significant icing, featuring a build up of 0.25 of an inch or more, can occur into Wednesday night mainly along and between the Interstates 80 and 94 corridors in Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. Hazardous travel would result from that freezing rain, which occurs when rain freezes on contact with any subfreezing surface.

AccuWeather meteorologists are warning that the impacts from icing will not just be limited to the Midwest, but will also expand into parts of the Appalachians, mid-Atlantic and Northeast later in the week.

“The potential exists for dangerous amounts of ice accretion into Thursday,” added Buckingham. “This poses a risk for tree damage and power outages as the storm moves through.”

A portion of the central Appalachians north through Pennsylvania and southern New York appear most at risk for a significant ice storm, where up to half of an inch of ice buildup is not out of the question. Cumberland, Maryland; Harrisburg, Scranton, State College and Williamsport, Pennsylvania; and Binghamton, New York, are among the cities at risk for long-lasting power outages, downed tree limbs and nearly impossible travel conditions from this storm.

A much larger area extending as far south and east as the I-95 corridor from Washington to Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York and Boston, and north through the Toronto, Canada area, and upstate New York, are expected to see a briefer period of icing, either before a changeover to rain (in the case of the Northeast big cities) or after a period of accumulating snow (in areas farther north near the Canadian border).

Any amount of icing can lead to slippery travel, especially on untreated surfaces and bridges and overpasses. This period may end up coinciding with the Thursday morning commute in many areas, forcing delayed openings or closures for schools and businesses.

Complicating things will be the potential for cold, gusty winds to follow the storm on Thursday and Friday, potentially resulting in a rash of additional hazards even after the icing is over.

AccuWeather’s team of long-range forecasters have been hinting about a stormy first half of February since last month, and that scenario seems to be coming to fruition. In a prediction that beat Punxsutawney Phil’s by several days, wintry weather will be abundant.

“We are monitoring three potential storms between Feb. 5-11,” said AccuWeather Lead Long-Range Forecaster Paul Pastelok last month. “This will be a busy pattern with potential disruptions to travel and business.”

Following the first storm during the middle of this week, another will follow closely on its heels from Friday through next weekend. While details on where snow, ice and thunderstorms can occur are still hazy at this point, many of the same of the same areas are expected to see adverse weather and travel delays.

At least one more storm can follow for beginning early in the workweek after, and indications are that even more moisture and cold air may be available for a larger area of snow and ice then.

Attention central and eastern US residents: brace yourselves for a midweek storm that is set to bring a risk of severe weather and significant icing to the region.

Meteorologists are warning that a powerful storm system will sweep across the central and eastern US, bringing with it the potential for severe thunderstorms, damaging winds, and even tornadoes in some areas. In addition, parts of the region could see heavy rain and flash flooding.

But that’s not all – the storm is also expected to bring significant icing to parts of the central and eastern US, particularly in the Midwest and Northeast. This could lead to hazardous driving conditions, power outages, and potentially dangerous situations for those living in affected areas.

It’s important to stay tuned to your local weather forecast and prepare accordingly for this incoming storm. Make sure you have emergency supplies on hand, stay off the roads if possible, and listen to any warnings or advisories issued by local authorities.

Stay safe, stay informed, and stay prepared as we weather this midweek storm together.

  • Sixers’ Tyrese Maxey misses the cut for NBA Eastern Conference All-Star reserves – NBC Sports Philadelphia

Tyrese Maxey did not make the cut for the NBA’s Eastern Conference All-Star reserves.

After being named to his first All-Star Game last year, Maxey was not among the seven East reserves selected by the NBA’s head coaches. Those players were announced Thursday night as:

    • Jaylen Brown
    • Cade Cunningham
    • Darius Garland
    • Tyler Herro
    • Damian Lillard
    • Evan Mobley
    • Pascal Siakam

Maxey’s averaged 27.1 points, 6.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds. He’s often been the primary star and one of the few reliably available players for the 19-27 Sixers, who have dealt with a deluge of injuries. Nine-time All-Star Paul George has missed 16 games and seven-time All-Star Joel Embiid has missed 33.

“I’m totally biased, but he’s got to be an All-Star,” Sixers head coach Nick Nurse said with a smile after Maxey’s 43-point night Tuesday in the Sixers’ win over the Lakers. “He’s got to be. What is that, 11 straight games with 28 (points) or more? That’s pretty good. If they voted, I say we vote again — if he didn’t make it. Hopefully, he’ll make it. He deserves to make it.”

The scoring streak Nurse mentioned is now at 12 consecutive games following Maxey’s 30-point, eight-assist performance Wednesday in the Sixers’ victory vs. the Kings.

While his shooting percentages have declined from last year, Maxey’s near the top of the NBA in several key categories. He’s officially second in minutes per game (37.9), third in steals per game (1.9) and sixth in scoring average.

After winning the league’s Most Improved Player Award last season, he’s made the progress Nurse hoped to see defensively.

“My defense has been a lot better,” Maxey said Tuesday. “I just needed time to get adjusted to the NBA game, get a little bit stronger. I’m not going to lie, when I was in college and high school, I was a good defender. But when I first came into the league, I had to learn how to play pick-and-roll defense. I had to learn how to play team defense. It’s way different. And then I missed my whole training camp my rookie year, basically (after testing positive for COVID-19).

“So all the principles and all that stuff, I didn’t get it. I had to kind of learn it on the fly, learn it throughout the year. Now, having multiple training camps, being in multiple playoff games, big-time games, I kind of just know the game and know everybody’s tendencies. I sit on the couch every single day starting at 7 (p.m.) and I watch all the basketball games, so I know everybody’s tendencies and that’s helped me.”

Maxey’s stepped into a larger leadership role this season, too.

“From last year to this year, he obviously has a new contract and all that stuff,” KJ Martin said on Dec. 18. “I was happy for him, but he’s stayed the same person inside. That was probably the biggest thing, just him as a person and him using his voice. He’s been using it way more. Everyone sees kind of the nice side of him, but he can turn it on and get on guys.”

This year’s All-Star Game will be on Sunday, Feb. 16 at Chase Center in San Francisco.

Sixers rookie Jared McCain has been named a 2025 Rising Star, though he won’t compete in the event itself because he’s out following season-ending left lateral meniscus surgery.

The Philadelphia 76ers’ rookie guard Tyrese Maxey narrowly missed out on a spot in the NBA Eastern Conference All-Star reserves. Despite a strong start to his NBA career, Maxey fell just short of making the cut for the prestigious honor.

Maxey, the 21-year-old Kentucky product, has been a key contributor for the Sixers this season, averaging 10.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. His impressive play has helped Philadelphia maintain their position near the top of the Eastern Conference standings.

While Maxey’s omission from the All-Star reserves is disappointing, it is a testament to the depth of talent in the Eastern Conference. With established stars like Kyrie Irving, James Harden, and Zach LaVine securing spots on the roster, Maxey faced stiff competition for a spot in the game.

Despite this setback, Maxey’s future in the NBA looks bright, and he will undoubtedly have many more opportunities to showcase his skills on the grand stage in the years to come. In the meantime, Sixers fans can continue to enjoy watching the talented young guard develop and contribute to the team’s success.

  • Rwanda’s evolving stature ensures muted global pressure as M23 advances in eastern Congo

When Rwanda-backed rebels seized control of eastern Congo’s strategic city of Goma this week, it prompted a flurry of declarations condemning Rwanda from the U.N. and western nations, including the United States, France and the U.K.

Yet, the international community has stopped short of putting financial pressure on Kigali to withdraw its support for the rebels as happened when they took Goma in 2012.

The contrast has to do with the country’s evolving stature both in Africa and the West, where officials have long admired fourth-term President Paul Kagame for his role in uplifting Rwanda in the aftermath of genocide, analysts and diplomats said. They point to Rwanda’s shrewd branding, efforts to make itself more indispensable militarily and economically and divided attention spans of countries preoccupied with wars in the Middle East and Ukraine.

“So far there has been significantly less international pressure than there was in 2012 for various reasons, including the new administration in the White House, other ongoing international crises and Rwanda’s role in continental peacekeeping and security operations,” said Ben Shepherd, a fellow Chatham House’s Africa Program.

Aid was once a key source of leverage

Kagame’s efforts to transform his small east African nation into a political and economic juggernaut, they say, has made the international community more reluctant to pressure Rwanda.

That’s been true when Kagame has abolished term limits and waged a campaign of repression against his opponents at home. It’s been true as he’s backed rebels fighting Congolese forces across the country’s border. And it’s remained true despite the fact that Rwanda’s economy is still heavily reliant on foreign aid, including from the United States, the World Bank and the European Union.

The United States disbursed $180 million in foreign aid to Rwanda in 2023. The World Bank’s International Development Association provided nearly $221 million the same year. And in the years ahead, the European Union has pledged to invest over $900 million in Rwanda under the Global Gateway strategy, its response to China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

In 2012, that aid was a key source of leverage as the western powers pressured Rwanda to end its role in the fighting. Donor countries withheld aid and the World Bank threatened to. Only a few nations, including the U.K. and Germany, have implied Rwanda’s involvement could jeopardize the flow of aid.

But today, the international community has fewer means to influence Rwanda as M23 advances southward from Goma. The United States suspended military aid to Rwanda in 2012 in the months before it seized Goma but can’t make the same threats after suspending it again last year. And since taking office, President Donald Trump has since frozen the vast majority of foreign aid, stripping the United States of the means to use it to leverage any country in particular.

Rwandan troops observed pouring into Congo

The Rwanda-backed M23 group is one of about 100 armed factions vying for a foothold in eastern Congo in one of Africa’s longest conflicts, displacing 4.5 million people and creating what the U.N. called “one of the most protracted, complex, serious humanitarian crises on Earth.”

A July 2024 report from a U.N. group of experts estimated at least 4,000 Rwandan troops were active across the Congolese border. More have been observed pouring into Congo this week.

Kagame has claimed that M23 rebels in eastern Congo merely want to defend Tutsis from the same Hutu extremists who carried out the genocide that killed some 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus without intervention from the international community.

That failure and the resulting guilt informed a generation of politicians’ thinking about Rwanda.

“Rwanda’s justifications and references to the genocide continue to play to the West’s perception of it,” said South Africa-based risk analyst Daniel Van Dalen. “There’s always been apprehension to take any decisive action against Rwanda politically or economically.”

Kagame seen as ‘a beacon of stability and economic growth’

But today, there are other factors at play.

Set on transforming the country into the “Singapore of Africa,” Kagame has modernized Rwanda’s infrastructure, raised life expectancy rates and lured companies like Volkswagen and leagues like the NBA to open up shop in-country. Donors and foreign correspondents often profess wonder at Kigali’s clean streets, upscale restaurants and women-majority parliament.

The transformation has won Rwanda admiration from throughout the world, including in Africa, where leaders see Rwanda’s trajectory as a model to draw lessons from.

“The history of genocide still plays a role, but Kagame has very cleverly set up relationships with western capitals and established himself as a beacon of stability and economic growth in the region,” said a European diplomat, who did not want to be named because he was not allowed to speak on the matter publicly. “Some capitals still don’t want to see the truth.”

Rwanda contributes more personnel to U.N. peacekeeping operations than all but two countries. It is a key supplier of troops deployed to Central African Republic, where the United States worries about growing Russian influence. The country has also agreed deals to deploy its army to fight extremists in northern Mozambique, where France’s Total Energies is developing an offshore gas project.

“They have leveraged two things very well, which is their international diplomacy and their military prowess,” said Jason Stearns, a political scientist and Congo expert at Canada’s Simon Fraser University. “They’ve just been very good at making themselves useful.”

    Key exporter of critical minerals

A decade ago, Rwanda was primarily exporting agricultural products like coffee and tea. But it has since emerged as a key partner for western nations competing with China for access to natural resources in east Africa.

In addition to gold and tin, Rwanda is a top exporter of tantalum, a mineral used to manufacture semiconductors. While it does not publish data on the volumes of minerals it mines, last year the U.S. State Department said Rwanda exported more minerals than it mined, citing a U.N. report. And just last month, Congo filed lawsuits against Apple’s subsidiaries in France and Belgium, accusing Rwanda of using minerals sourced in eastern Congo.

Yet still, the European Union has signed an agreement with Kigali, opening the door to importing critical minerals from Rwanda. The deal sparked outrage from activists who criticized the lack of safeguards regarding sourcing of the minerals, and accused Brussels of fueling the conflict in eastern Congo.

The EU pushed back, saying that the deal was in early stages and that it was “working out the practicalities” on tracing and reporting minerals from Rwanda.

But even if the West stepped up its response, it has less leverage than in 2012, analysts said. Kagame invested in relationships with non-Western partners, such as China and the United Arab Emirates, which is now the country’s top trade partner. Rwanda also deepened its ties with the African nations that took much more decisive action to defuse the crisis in 2012.

“We are waiting to see how South Africans and Angolans react,” Shepherd said. “There was diplomatic pressure in 2012, but it only changed things because it came alongside African forces deployed in the U.N. intervention brigade.”

    __

Metz reported from Rabat, Morocco and Pronczuk from Dakar, Senegal.

Rwanda’s evolving stature ensures muted global pressure as M23 advances in eastern Congo

As the rebel group M23 continues to advance in eastern Congo, there has been a noticeable lack of global pressure on Rwanda to intervene or put a stop to the violence. This is in stark contrast to previous conflicts in the region, where Rwanda was often held accountable for supporting rebel groups.

One of the key reasons for this muted global pressure is Rwanda’s evolving stature on the international stage. In recent years, Rwanda has made significant strides in terms of economic development, political stability, and regional influence. President Paul Kagame has been praised for his leadership and for transforming Rwanda into a model African nation.

Additionally, Rwanda’s strategic partnerships with countries like the United States and China have helped bolster its position in the global arena. These alliances have given Rwanda more leverage and influence, making it less susceptible to outside pressure.

While there are still concerns about Rwanda’s involvement in the conflict in eastern Congo, the lack of significant global pressure indicates a shift in how Rwanda is perceived on the world stage. As Rwanda continues to grow and evolve, it will be interesting to see how its actions and relationships shape future conflicts in the region.

  • M23 rebels expand their control of Goma in eastern Congo

GOMA, Congo — Rwanda-backed rebels captured large parts of Goma, the biggest city in eastern Congo, including its airport, the United Nations said, as Rwanda’s president on Wednesday joined calls for a ceasefire in the decadeslong conflict amid mounting international pressure.

Much of Goma was calm after a day during which thousands of fleeing people hunkered down by roadsides as missiles flew overhead, and injured people streamed to overwhelmed hospitals.

While government forces still control pockets of Goma, residents who spoke to The Associated Press by phone on Tuesday said that the M23 rebel group was in control of much of the city.

The M23 rebels, who said that they captured the city on Monday after a weekslong advance, are one of about 100 armed groups vying for a foothold in mineral-rich eastern Congo. The conflict escalated with the rebels’ advance into Goma, which left bodies on the streets and drove hundreds of thousands of already displaced people to flee once again.

After clashing with government forces, the rebels took control of the airport, U.N. spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said at a briefing on Tuesday, warning of “risks of a breakdown of law and order in the city given the proliferation of weapons.”

Rwandan President Paul Kagame said on X that he spoke with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on “the need to ensure a ceasefire and address the root causes of the conflict once and for all.”

His government denies supporting M23, despite reports from U.N. experts who estimate there are up to 4,000 Rwandan forces in Congo. Rwanda has accused Congo of enlisting Hutu rebels and former militiamen whom it blames for the 1994 genocide.

The East African Community, whose members include both Rwanda and Congo, are scheduled to discuss the conflict at a meeting on Wednesday. Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi won’t be able to participate in the virtual summit, a spokesperson said, without providing further details.

Pope Francis called for the cessation of hostilities and the protection of civilians.

“We hope that all forms of violence against people and their property will cease as soon as possible (and) I invite local authorities and the international community to make every effort to resolve the conflict by peaceful means,” Francis said at his weekly general audience.

M23, made up primarily of ethnic Tutsis, has told the AP that it plans to set up an administration in the city so people can continue living normal lives and displaced people can return home.

Analysts have warned that securing a rebel withdrawal could be more difficult than in 2012, when M23 first captured Goma but withdrew after days. Murithi Mutiga, program director for Africa at the Crisis Group, said that the group has become more emboldened by Rwanda, which feels Congo is ignoring its interests in the region and which has accused Congo of failing to meet demands of previous peace agreements.

The M23 rebels have made significant gains in their control of Goma, a city in eastern Congo. This rebel group, which is made up of former Congolese army soldiers, has been fighting against the government for years in an attempt to gain more power and resources.

In recent days, the M23 rebels have taken control of key strategic points in Goma, including government buildings and military installations. This expansion of their control has raised concerns among residents and human rights organizations about the safety and stability of the region.

The international community has condemned the actions of the M23 rebels and called for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further violence and suffering among civilians. However, it remains to be seen whether the rebel group will heed these calls and work towards a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

The situation in Goma is rapidly evolving, and it is crucial for all parties involved to prioritize the safety and well-being of the people living in the region. The international community must continue to monitor the situation closely and take decisive action to ensure that peace and stability are restored in eastern Congo.

  • Trojans Aiming for Six Wins in a Row, Share of First Place Against Eastern Illinois Monday

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – One win stands between Little Rock and a share of first place in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Trojans rolled past Lindenwood Saturday for their fifth straight league win and Morehead lost to SIUE, so they hold a half-game lead.

It’s that slim because Little Rock has played one less game. That game with Eastern Illinois was postponed Dec. 21 when Little Rock team manager Josh Claxton died that morning in a car accident. The two teams make that game up at 2 p.m., Monday at the Hyland Arena on the campus of Lindenwood University. Trey Schaap has the call on 1067Buz2 beginning with the pregame at 1:45. ESPN+ will stream the game.

FOUR IN A ROW … AGAIN
Little Rock won four straight conference games last season. That hadn’t been done since the 1985-86 season. Now, the Trojans have done it again and are eyeing five straight, when they play at Southern Indiana on Feb. 6. Monday’s game, while it’s away from the Jack Stephens Center, is not a road game but will be listed as a neutral site game in the record book. A win against EIU does push the overall OVC win streak to six.

    HAPPY HOMECOMING
While playing two games at Lindenwood is not ideal for the Trojans, redshirt freshman guard Christian Hughes is enjoying it. Hughes, who spent some of his growing up years in the Little Rock area attended St. Louis-area Kirkwood High School where he was a two-time all-conference and all-district selection. Following the game Saturday, he posed for pictures with his dad, Chris, his mom, Jill, and brother, Jameson, and sister, Jocie. Hughes entered the game late and hit a jumper much to the delight of his family and the Trojans bench.

With a day off Sunday, he will get to spend more time with family and friends and expects more supporters at the game on Monday. Chris, who is a Market Manager with Edward Jones, played college basketball at Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. Jill was a cheerleader there. Hughes’ grandmother, Sharon Stewart, is a UA Little Rock graduate.

    THE SERIES
The teams have split four games in the two years Little Rock has been an OVC member. EIU beat the Trojans 90-88 at the Jack Stephens Center last winter, but Little Rock returned the favor in a 71-47 win at EIU.

    FIRST LOOK: EIU
The Panthers are on the opposite spectrum of the Trojans as they have lost seven straight games and are in last place in the OVC. They lost to first-place Morehead State, 73-66, at home on Thursday and dropped a close home loss to Southern Indiana, 64-60, on Saturday. EIU had to make the 150-mile drive from its campus to St. Charles on Sunday.

Nakyeyl Shelton, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound senior guard, started his career at the NAIA level. The Chicago native enrolled as a freshman at Montana State. Northern, but the season was canceled due to COVID. He then transferred to Cardinal Stritch, an NAIA program in Wisconsin. He then starred at South Suburban (Ill.) Community College where he averaged 23.6 points per game and more than 10 rebounds per game. He averaged 11 points per game at EIU last season and leads the Panthers with a 17.1 ppg scoring average this season.

Zion Fruster, a 6-foot-2, 170-pound junior guard from Douglasville, Ga., averages 13.5 ppg and Kooper Jakobi averages 13.3 ppg and 9.6 rebounds per game. Jakobi, a 6-foot-7, 200-pound grad student and Indiana native, began his college career at Toledo.

EIU head coach Marty Simmons was the longtime coach at Evansville after starring at the school as a player. He led the Purple Aces to five postseason appearances and three 20-plus win seasons from 2007-18. After serving for two seasons on the Clemson staff, he took over at EIU. After his first three seasons at EIU, he received a two-year contract extension last spring. His Panther teams have yet to have a winning season but the Panthers won 14 games last season after winning 14 games combined his first two seasons on campus.

The Troy Trojans are on a roll, with five straight wins under their belt and a chance to make it six in a row on Monday night against Eastern Illinois. The Trojans have been playing some of their best basketball of the season, and are now aiming for a share of first place in the conference standings.

Led by standout performances from their top players, the Trojans have been dominating on both ends of the court. Their defense has been stifling, holding opponents to low shooting percentages and forcing turnovers. On offense, they have been sharing the ball well and finding ways to score against tough defenses.

With a win on Monday night, the Trojans will not only extend their winning streak, but also move into a tie for first place in the conference standings. This game is crucial for their postseason hopes, as they look to secure a high seed in the conference tournament.

Fans can catch all the action on Monday night as the Trojans take on Eastern Illinois. Let’s cheer on our team as they aim for their sixth straight win and a share of first place in the conference standings! #GoTrojans #SixWinsInARow

My Eastern Illinois vs Little Rock College Basketball Betting Preview

Coming into the 2024-25 season, the coaches and league communication directors selected Little Rock as the OVC favorite.

But the Trojans didn’t live up to expectations to start the season, as they dealt with injuries and the death of a team manager.

Little Rock has seemingly turned things around, though, winning five straight games while sitting a half-game behind Morehead State at the top of the league standings. Senior Jordan Jefferson is back, and the team has finally found some semblance of continuity without KK Robinson, who was ruled out for the year before the season.

The Trojans have played one less game than the first-place Eagles because this matchup vs. Eastern Illinois was postponed following the death of Josh Claxton.

The two teams will now make this one up on the campus of Lindenwood, essentially creating a neutral floor environment.

While Little Rock has been flying high, Eastern Illinois is at the bottom of the Ohio Valley barrel. The Panthers have lost seven straight games and they haven’t won a single duel away from their home arena this season.

Little Rock is the better team and has more momentum, but it also has the motivational angle working for it.

A win on Monday would get the Trojans into a tie for first place in the OVC. After all they’ve dealt with this season, that would be a great accomplishment for the program as it chases its second straight regular season conference title.

Also, with newfound depth and good role allocation, the Trojans won’t have to worry about the fact that they just played on Saturday. (Plus, their opponent also did the same.)
