The biggest play of the game was made by Buckeyes edge rusher Jack Sawyer, who strip sacked Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers in the fourth quarter and returned the ensuing fumble for a touchdown to seal the win for the Buckeyes.
Adding to the weight of the moment was the fact that Sawyer and Ewers were roommates years ago, before Ewers transferred to Texas. It’s the type of full-circle moment that is usually reserved for fictional narratives.

Pfizer: 4 Reasons to Buy This Stock – Eli Lilly (NYSE:LLY), Pfizer (NYSE:PFE)
Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. PFE stock is trading back down near its pandemic lows. Every time it attempts to climb over the $30 mark, something causes shares to slide right back down. Despite the disheartening price action, this medical sector giant is still one of the world’s largest research-based biopharmaceutical companies behind Eli Lilly & Co. LLY.

1) Pfizer Has Resumed Growth Again
Revenues had declined for five of the past six quarters heading into its Q3 report. In its third-quarter 2024 earnings report, Pfizer posted profits of $1.06 per share, which handily beat consensus estimates by 45 cents. Its revenues surged 32% YoY to $17.7 billion, absolutely crushing consensus estimates for $14.92 billion. The revenue growth reflects an operation increase of 32% YoY or $4.3 billion, mostly due to the growth contributions of its Paxlovid COVID-19 antiviral treatment and acquired products. Higher instances of COVID-19 infections in the summer have driven the surge in COVID-19 vaccines and treatments.
Excluding contributions from its COVID-19 treatments, Paxlovid and Comirnaty COVID-19 vaccine, revenues would have increased $1.7 billion or 14% YoY. Cost savings are on track to deliver at least $5.5 billion from its previously announced cost reduction initiatives.
Pfizer remains on track with its dose optimization studies for its oral GLP-1 receptor agonist candidate, Danuglipron. It’s all once daily oral GLP-1 receptor agonist in Phase 1, and its oral small molecule GIPR antagonist is advancing in Phase 2 studies.
2) Pfizer Is Focused on Its Oncology Business
Pfizer is focused on growing its oncology business which is driven by its acquisition of massive $43 billion acquisition of Seagen. Critics and activist Starboard were very displeased with Pfizer overpaying for Seagen, which is only supposed to contribute around $3.1 billion in revenue to the topline in 2024.
Pfizer is already the world’s third-largest oncology company based on 1H 2024. Its advanced prostate cancer drug XTANDI revenues rose 28% YoY. TALZENNA revenue rose 77% YoY. The company reported significant overall survival benefits for its Phase 3 TALAPRO study, which is a combination of TALZENNA and XTANDI. Its adult alpositive metastatic noncell lung cancer drug LOBRENA saw 31% operation growth. ELREXFIO for multiple myeloma treatment saw 80% sequential revenue growth over Q2 2024.
Pfizer has a solid pipeline for lung cancer treatments, which is the number one cause of cancer-related death around the world. It’s enrolling patients in its Phase 3 clinical study for MEBROMESTOSTAN, its novel EZH2 inhibitor for men with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer. Pfizer is making progress on the development of two candidates to replace the current backbones of HER positive HER2 negative breast cancer.
3) Pfizer Raised the Full-Year 2025 Guidance and Updated the 2025 Forecast
The company raised its full-year 2024 EPS to $2.75 to $2.95, up from previous guidance of $2.45 to $2.65 versus $2.66 consensus estimates. Full-year 2024 revenue is expected to be between $61 billion to $64 billion, raised from previous guidance of $59.5 billion to $62.5 billion versus $61.13 billion. The updated guidance includes nearly $10.5 billion in anticipated revenues for Comirnaty ($5 billion) and Paxlovid ($5.5 billion).
On Dec. 17, 2024, Pfizer updated guidance for 2025. The impact of Medicare Part D redesign is expected to be a $1 billion headwind across its product portfolio in 2025. The new Trump administration is committed to reforming the pharmacy benefits management (PBM) industry but doesn’t expect material vaccine policy changes. Prevnar revenues are expected to decline slightly in 2025. The company also reached its goal of achieving $4 billion in cost savings in 2024, with another $500 million expected in 2025.
4) PFE Stock May Attempt to Break Out of a Descending Triangle Pattern
A descending triangle is normally a bearish chart pattern indicator of lower highs on the bounce against flat bottom support. The descending upper trendline converges with the flat-bottom horizontal lower trendline support at the apex point. A breakdown triggers if the stock falls below the lower trendline support. A breakout triggers if the stock surges above the upper trendline resistance.
PFE formed its descending upper trendline resistance at the $31.54 swing high, converging with the flat-bottom lower trendline at $24.46 at the apex point. PFE initially appeared to have broken out through the upper trendline on Oct. 9, 2024, but shares fell back under by Oct. 30 and reached the lower trendline on Nov. 15, 2024, before staging a rally back toward the 2020 pandemic low of $26.43. The daily anchored VWAP is rising at $25.73. Fibonacci (Fib) pullback support levels are at $25.75, $24.46, $22.45, and $20.36.

Is Eli Manning a Hall of Famer?
Maybe. Maybe not. Yet despite earning zero All-Pro selections to go with the two upset Super Bowl triumphs against the so-called Evil Empire led by Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, the former New York Giants quarterback is a finalist in his first year of eligibility.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame unveiled the list of 15 modern-era finalists over the weekend, with Manning’s presence to likely fuel the most intense debate facing the 49 selectors who will determine the Class of 2025 in January.
Full-disclosure: As a member of the selection committee, this is not an effort to sway fellow voters. Looking forward to engaging in the passionate discussion.

Another question: Is Darren Woodson is Hall of Famer? The former safety won three Super Bowls during the 1990s with the Dallas Cowboys and earned four first-team All-Pro selections. He’s the franchise’s all-time leading tackler. And Woodson is in his 17th year of eligibility, which puts him so close to entering the deep seniors pool, which happens when former players don’t get in after 20 years as a modern-era candidate.
See, this can be so tricky. Rodney Harrison won two Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, is one of two players in NFL history with 30 interceptions and 30 sacks. He was a finalist the past three years. But he didn’t make the final 15 this time around.
Earl Thomas won a Super Bowl, appeared in another with the Seattle Seahawks and, like Luke Kuechly, was a first-team All-Decade selection who earned seven Pro Bowl bids and seven All-Pro selections. Yet Thomas didn’t advance as a finalist. Kuechly did. Hmmm. Kuechly’s advance should set the table one day for fellow All-Decade linebacker Bobby Wagner, who is still playing. We’ll see.
Also missing the cut from the list of 25 semifinalists: Richmond Webb, an All-Decade left tackle who protected Dan Marino’s blind side; James Harrison, two-time Super Bowl champ and former NFL Defensive Player of the Year; Hines Ward, again, for the ninth year in a row, as the latest version of a wide receiver logjam is a lot tougher than beating press coverage.
Of course, highlighting omissions doesn’t diminish the worthiness of the finalists. Yet it underscores how competitive the process is for settling on many of the Hall of Fame slots.
The ultimate prize, as the legendary Deacon Jones once explained, is that getting enshrined in Canton is making the team that you can never get cut from. Yet surviving the gauntlet to get bronze bust can be so challenging for some undeniably worthy candidates.
The new slate again includes former wideouts Torry Holt and Reggie Wayne, back as six-time finalists, while ex-defensive end Jared Allen returns as a five-time finalist with 136 career sacks. Willie Anderson, the former right tackle, is a fourth-time finalist. Jahri Evans and Eric Allen are second-time finalists, but here’s a twist: Evans, a well-credentialed former guard, is in his third year of eligibility. Meanwhile, Eric Allen, a former cornerback whose 54 interceptions ranks 21st all-time, is in his 19th year of eligibility. The clock is ticking.
Antonio Gates is back, too, for his second time as a finalist. With his 116 career receiving touchdowns the most of any tight end in history, it’s fair to wonder why the ex-Charger wasn’t a first-ballot pick last year. I’d suspect the PED suspension (four games, 2015) hurt Gates, although a similar blemish didn’t stop Julius Peppers from getting in on the first ballot. That can be baffling to understand.
Maybe it’s simply a numbers game. And timing. I mean, Michael Strahan didn’t get selected until his second year of eligibility, while Brian Urlacher was a first-ballot pick.
One pattern keeps coming back: recency bias. Of the 15 finalists, five are first-ballot candidates: Manning, Kuechly, Terrell Suggs, Adam Vinatieri and Marshal Yanda. Not saying that any (or most) are not worthy, but what’s the rush?
Then again, if I’m a candidate, there’s a rush because the influx of new candidates next year and the year after will bring another round of recency bias.
The moral: If the Hall induction doesn’t happen fast for any given candidate, good luck. There are only so many slots (or so few) each year. Yeah, it’s supposed to be tough to get in. It’s not the Hall of the Very Good. But it can still be so subjective.
Great stats, Pro Bowl selections and All-Decade status surely boost the cases of any candidate. But when there are several other candidates with similar symbols of achievement, it can be a wash – or at least much tougher to separate the best from the greatest ever.
This is my 27th year as a selector. It has been a tremendous honor, taken so seriously. When I was invited by the Hall to join the committee, I thought it would be easy.
Not quite. And not just because of the campaigning inherit with the process.
Sure, it’s been easy to cast votes for some of the no-brainer picks. I’ll never forget the “discussion” on one candidate, when Ira Miller, the selector presenting the case, stood up and announced to the room: “Ladies and gentlemen, I present Joe Montana.”
Then Ira sat down. That was the discussion.
Other candidates with similarly short presentations: Bruce Smith. Jerry Rice. Dan Marino. Emmitt Smith. Deion Sanders. Ronnie Lott.
Yet most of the candidates are vetted with deep discussion – and sometimes intense debate – during our marathon selection meeting before the Super Bowl-week unveiling of the new class. As great as Lawrence Taylor was, for instance, his Hall of Fame call didn’t come without some serious back-and-forth.
Surely, some heated discussion is coming with Manning. He comes from football royalty and slayed the Patriots twice in the big game, but it’s a team game and individual honor. Never mind that Manning gamed the NFL draft system to shun the Chargers and land in the Big Apple. That’s not a factor for Hall consideration. That he was never one of the league’s best quarterbacks, though, is indeed a factor.
If Manning is a Hall of Famer, then what about Jim Plunkett?
Plunkett – ironically drafted No. 1 overall in 1971, one slot ahead of Eli’s father, Archie – won two Super Bowls, too, with the Raiders.
But recency bias or not, Plunkett has never been discussed in the room as a finalist. Chances are, though, that he will be mentioned in context with the Manning case.
Let the debate roll on.

The Hall of Fame selection committee will gather ahead of Super Bowl LIX to decide on the 2025 class, which will be announced during the “NFL Honors” event on Feb. 6.
The process of determining the Class of 2025 began in September when the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced 167 modern-era nominees.
Up to five modern-era players can be selected with each inductee needing to receive at least 80% of the vote.
Maxie Baughan, Sterling Sharpe, Jim Tyrer, Mike Holmgren and Ralph Hay are also candidates for induction as part of the seniors, coach and contributor categories. At least one person and a maximum of three from those combined groups will be part of the Class of 2025.

Eli Manning, Antonio Gates among Hall of Fame finalists
Two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning, former Defensive Players of the Year Luke Kuechly and Terrell Suggs, and prolific tight end Antonio Gates are among the finalists for the 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame class.
The Hall on Saturday announced the names of the 15 modern-era finalists who advanced from a group of 25 to the final stage of voting. The group includes five players in their first year of eligibility, nine who were finalists last year and receiver Steve Smith Sr., who made it this far for the first time in his fourth year of eligibility.
The selection committee will vote next month to pick the class of between three and five modern-era players that will be announced the week of the Super Bowl.
Five others also are under consideration for enshrinement, with Maxie Baughan, Sterling Sharpe and Jim Tyrer finalists in the seniors category, Mike Holmgren in the coaches category and Ralph Hay as a contributor. Between one and three of those nominees will also get inducted into the Hall.
Manning, Kuechly and Suggs are finalists in their first year of eligibility, along with postseason kicking star Adam Vinatieri and former Baltimore guard Marshal Yanda.
Gates was a first-time finalist for the 2024 class and is back at this stage along with defensive end Jared Allen; receivers Torry Holt and Reggie Wayne; offensive linemen Willie Anderson and Jahri Evans; defensive backs Darren Woodson, Eric Allen and Rodney Harrison; and running back Fred Taylor also advancing.
Manning will look to follow his brother Peyton into the Hall following a standout career with the New York Giants. Manning was picked first overall in the 2004 draft and spent his entire career in New York. He led the Giants to an upset win over the undefeated New England Patriots in the Super Bowl following the 2007 season, throwing a game-winning TD pass to Plaxico Burress in the final minute.
He led another late TD drive to upset Tom Brady and the Patriots four years later. Manning is one of 13 QBs to win multiple Super Bowls, with eight of the nine who are eligible for the Hall getting inducted.
Only Jim Plunkett has not been inducted, along with more recent players such as Brady, Ben Roethlisberger and Patrick Mahomes, who aren’t yet eligible.
Manning was a four-time Pro Bowler but never made All-Pro or led the league in a major statistical category in a season. He finished his career with 57,023 yards passing and 366 TDs.
His best moments came during those two postseason runs. Manning joined Brady (five), Mahomes (three), Joe Montana (three), Bart Starr (two) and Terry Bradshaw (two) as the only multiple winners of Super Bowl MVP awards.
Kuechly and Suggs were among the top defensive players of their era, with Kuechly selected as the top defensive player in 2013 and Suggs in 2011.
Kuechly’s career was brief but impactful. The first-round pick by Carolina in 2012 was an All-Pro five times, with seven Pro Bowl nods and a Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
Over his eight-year career, Kuechly led all linebackers in the NFL in tackles (1,090), takeaways (26), interceptions (18) and passes defensed (66).
Suggs was one of the top pass rushers in the league over his 17-year career, with his 139 sacks ranking eighth best since they became an official stat in 1982.
Suggs had seven double-digit sack seasons in his 16 seasons with Baltimore, including 14 in 2011 when he was selected as the top defensive player in the league and led the NFL with seven forced fumbles.
Gates played only basketball in college before turning into one of the NFL’s top tight ends after being drafted by the Chargers. He became an All-Pro in just his second season in 2004. He was an All-Pro again the next two seasons and went on to have a 16-year career with the team.
Gates finished with 955 catches for 11,841 yards and an NFL record for tight ends with 116 touchdown receptions.
Vinatieri was one of the most clutch kickers in NFL history, making the game-winning field goals in the first two Super Bowl titles during New England’s dynasty.
He helped launch the run with one of the game’s greatest kicks – a 45-yarder in the snow to force overtime in the “Tuck Rule” game against the Raiders in the 2001 divisional round. He made the game-winning kick in OT to win that game and then hit a 48-yarder on the final play of a 20-17 win in the Super Bowl against the Rams.
Vinatieri is the NFL’s career leader in points (2,673) and made field goals (599) over a 24-year career with New England and Indianapolis. He also leads all players with 56 field goals and 238 points in the postseason.

Former Giants QB Eli Manning named Hall of Fame finalist
Eli Manning is one step away from becoming a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
The former Giants quarterback was named one of 15 modern-era finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025.
Manning now needs at least 80% of the Selection Committee’s vote in order to be eligible for induction. Up to five modern-era players can be elected for the Class of 2025, which will be announced at the “NFL Honors” ceremony on Feb. 6.
Manning is the lone quarterback on this year’s list of finalists. He is one of six first-time finalists, joining wide receiver Steve Smith Sr.; linebackers Luke Kuechly and Terrell Suggs; offensive lineman Marshal Yanda; and kicker Adam Vinatieri.
Among them, only Smith is not in his first year of eligibility.
Rounding out the list of finalists announced Saturday are receivers Reggie Wayne and Torry Holt; tight end Antonio Gates; offensive linemen Jahri Evans and Willie Anderson; defensive backs Eric Allen and Darren Woodson; defensive end Jared Allen; and running back Fred Taylor.
That group was whittled down from an original pool of 167 nominees. The Hall announced its 25 semifinalists in November, with safety Earl Thomas, defensive tackle Vince Wilfork and defensive end Robert Mathis among the notable members from that stage to not make it to the final 15.
Manning led the Giants to Super Bowl victories over Tom Brady’s New England Patriots after the 2007 and 2011 seasons and was named MVP of both games.
He led game-winning drives in both of those Super Bowls, including famously escaping a sack and completing the “helmet catch” to David Tyree to give the previously undefeated 2007 Patriots their first loss.
Manning, who retired after the 2019 season, ranks 11th in NFL history in passing yards (57,023), passing touchdowns (366) and completions (4,895).
But Manning’s candidacy as a first-ballot Hall of Famer has been the subject of fierce debate, largely because he went 117-117 in the regular season over his 16 years in the NFL, all with the Giants. He went 8-4 in the postseason.
Manning, 43, would join older brother Peyton Manning in the Hall of Fame. He would become the 33rd Giant to be inducted, a list that includes former teammate Michael Strahan, as well as Lawrence Taylor, Harry Carson, Frank Gifford and Bill Parcells.
Overall, the Hall will induct between four and eight candidates in 2025, with as many as three coming from seniors category. The five finalists in the seniors category are Maxie Baughan, Sterling Sharpe and Jim Tyrer, coach Mike Holmgren and contributor Ralph Hay.
Former Giants head coach Tom Coughlin, who won both Super Bowls with Manning, was a semifinalist in the seniors category but was left off of the list of finalists in what many considered a snub.
