  • Solo Leveling Season 2, Episode 5 Release Date & Time

The following contains spoilers for Solo Leveling Season 2, Episode 4, “I Need to Stop Faking”.

Solo Leveling Season 2 has already gotten off to an amazing start, and it’s only just getting to the good part. Solo Leveling Season 1 detailed Sung Jinwoo’s swift climb to power. Its second season takes him to the next level. Season 2, Episode 4 finally confirmed just how far Jinwoo has come, as he was retested by the Hunter’s Association and confirmed as an S-Rank Hunter. Solo Leveling Season 2, Episode 5 (Episode 17 overall), “This is What We’re Trained to Do”, sends Jinwoo on one of his final raids before being officially announced as an S Rank to the world, and it’ll be consequential in more ways than one.

Last week’s episode, “I Need to Stop Faking”, was far slower than any other in Solo Leveling Season 2 so far. The anime began the new year with a bang with some amazing fights in the first three episodes of Season 2. Episode 5 promises to pick up the pace once more, with the lead-up to what will surely be one of Season 2’s most exciting battles. When all’s said and done, Jinwoo will not only have drawn the attention of the biggest Guild in all of Korea, but he’ll have also caught the eye of the one person who can see him for who he really is.

Sung Jinwoo gets tested at the Hunter’s Association in Solo Leveling Season 2
    Image via A-1 Pictures

Solo Leveling Episode 16, “I Need to Stop Faking”, was an important turning point in Sung Jinwoo’s story. Ever since Jinwoo experienced his reawakening as the Player and started leveling up, he felt it best to keep his true rank a secret. The fact he could grow stronger only would’ve complicated things and raise questions among other Hunters. Despite the Hunter’s Association and White Tiger Guild having their suspicions, Jinwoo was (mostly) able to fly under the radar until the start of Season 2.

After the incident at the Red Gate, it became clear to the powers that be that Jinwoo was a False Ranker who had likely experienced a Second Awakening. Given the ever-increasing number of people who had become suspicious of him, as well as the fact that his ability to level up would be stagnated if he was forced to only go on low-ranking dungeon raids, Jinwoo finally decided to get his rank reevaluated. As expected, Jinwoo is definitely not the weakest E Rank Hunter anymore. Jinwoo’s Rank Retesting at the Hunter’s Association confirmed that he was now an S-Rank, and only the 10th such Ranking Hunter in all of Korea.

It’s not a malfunction. It’s saying he can’t be assessed. It means he’s got more magic power than can be measured with this machine! … He’s the tenth person ever in the country… to be an S-Rank.

Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 3 Reveals a Hidden Detail Manhwa Readers Probably Missed

Without his dad around, Solo Leveling’s Sung Jinwoo was forced to level up solo in more ways than one. Episode 15 signals a potential change for him.

This immediately caught the attention of the major Guilds, including the top-ranked Guild, Hunters. Even the President of the Hunter’s Association, Go Gunhee, offered Jinwoo a job as the “top priority” of the Association, a position Jinwoo understood was of the utmost importance. Unfortunately, Jinwoo was forced to turn it down, as he understood he wouldn’t have much opportunity to level up in dungeons if he took a job at the Association. Despite being recognized by all the people with power in Hunter society, Jinwoo is still left with a three-day grace period before he has a final retesting to confirm his new rank, and his identity as one of Korea’s most powerful Hunters is officially released to the public.

With only a few days until he’s officially an S Rank, Jinwoo decides to take advantage of the time he has left as an E Rank. He signs up to take a job with the excavation team for a dungeon with the Hunters Guild in hopes of seeing how Korea’s top Guild handles raids. However, when Jinwoo steps a little too far into the dungeon, he’s confronted by the most powerful threat he has had to face yet: Cha Haein. Episode 4 was filled with nostalgic moments of reflection for Jinwoo, as he considered how far he had already come since the Double Dungeon. Come Episode 5, the strongest Hunters in Korea will recognize how far Jinwoo has come too.

Sung Jinwoo Will Formally Meet Cha Haein For the First Time in Season 2 Episode 5

Solo Leveling Episode 17 is Expected to Adapt Manhwa Chapters 67 – 71

As it’s done every week since the series first began, the Solo Leveling anime’s official website has been updated with some interesting preview images that hint at the next episode, as well as a description of what to expect. One of the preview images is perhaps one of the most memorable scenes in the manhwa, depicting the moment Cha Haein smells Jinwoo as the two walk past each other.

What’s so important about this is that Haein has a unique ability to smell the mana of other people, which is often an overpowering & disgusting stench for her. This is an ability that’s extremely rare in Hunters, with only one other Hunter in the series displaying it in a later arc. However, when she smells Jinwoo for the first time, not only does he not smell bad, he actually smells good to her. This is a profound moment that foreshadows the rest of the series, yet for now it remains a mystery to both Haein and the audience.

Solo Leveling Season 2, Episode 5 Teases Sung Jinwoo’s ‘Ominous Premonition’ Come True in High Orc Attack

A-1 Pictures’ upcoming Solo Leveling Season 2, Episode 5 teases an “ominous premonition” come to life as Sung Jinwoo faces a High Orc attack.

Two of the pictures previewed for Episode 5 depict brand new, never-before-seen Hunters in the anime. The main one seen in the images is Kihoon Son, Captain of the A-Rank Gate Strike Squad Jinwoo will inevitably join in the upcoming episode. There’s also an image of Son accompanied by the rest of the raid party, including Jinwoo, who lags in the back as per his role as their luggage carrier. Another notable preview image showcases a group of powerful-looking Magic Beasts. These are the High Orcs, whom Jinwoo will inevitably encounter on his second raid with the Hunters Guild, as the episode’s official description hints.

Jinwoo, who was suddenly assigned to accompany the Hunters’ second attack force as a baggage carrier, had an ominous premonition the moment he stepped into the dungeon. His premonition turned out to be correct, as a group of High Orcs attacked the attack force. Covered in wounds, the attack force returned to the entrance gate to withdraw, but a barrier had been set up there…

    – Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 5 Official Description

As the description points out, Jinwoo’s mission into the dungeon with Kihoon Son’s Strike Team won’t exactly go smoothly, as they’ll be approached by a group of powerful High Orcs. This tribe of Orcs is extremely important to the series going forward, as their leader goes on to become one of Jinwoo’s most beloved Shadow Soldiers. Kihoon’s group is incredibly strong, but they won’t be prepared to face a group of high-ranking Magic Beasts like the High Orcs. As Episode 5’s title suggests, fighting powerful monsters is what Kihoon Son’s strike team was trained to do, but as Solo Leveling fans know: no amount of training can increase a Hunter’s Rank. That is, unless that Hunter is Sung Jinwoo.

Solo Leveling Season 2 is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.

As the duo showcased their vocal talents, Al rubbed his eyes and said: “Please, no, make it stop!” The hilarious clip was shared on Today’s Instagram page, captioned: “Uncle Al is tired.”

He has a legion of fans who have enjoyed watching him over the decades, and in turn he has shared a lot of his personal life with them too, both the good and the bad.

The dad-of-three faced a difficult time shortly after the pandemic when in 2022, he was hospitalized after suffering from blood clots which started in his legs and quickly spread to his lungs.

He took several weeks off work to recover, and the experience completely transformed his outlook on life. A year on from his health scare, he spoke to Today.com, telling them: “Life can turn on a dime. … We know that intellectually, but when you’re faced with it, it really does hit home. (Life) is an ephemeral gift that we’re given, and you need to appreciate and honor it.”

He went on to say that since his hospitalization, he’s made an extra effort to tell his loved ones how much they mean to him on a regular basis. “We’re really not guaranteed anything,” he said.

“And then to hold this little girl, knowing almost 35 years ago I held her mom? And here she is, 5 lbs., 15 oz. 19 inches long and she’s just perfect. She sleeps for four hours, wakes up, goes to the bathroom, sleeps another four. We’re on the same schedule!”

Al is also a proud dad to daughter Leila and son Nick, who he shares with wife Deborah Roberts.

Tired Al Roker unimpressed by co-stars during live Today Show episode: ‘Make it stop!’

During a recent live episode of the Today Show, Al Roker was visibly unimpressed with his co-stars as they bantered back and forth on air. The veteran weatherman, known for his jovial and upbeat personality, couldn’t hide his exhaustion as his colleagues continued to joke and talk over each other.

“Make it stop!” Roker quipped, looking directly into the camera with a mix of frustration and amusement. His co-stars quickly caught on to his mood and tried to reign in their antics, but Roker’s exasperation was already clear.

Despite the tense moment, Roker’s professionalism shone through as he continued to deliver the weather report with his signature charm and wit. Fans took to social media to show their support for Roker, with many praising his ability to keep the show running smoothly even in the face of chaos.

It’s clear that even a seasoned pro like Al Roker can have his limits, but his ability to handle any situation with grace and humor is a testament to his enduring popularity. Here’s to hoping his co-stars take note and give him a break next time!

  • Severance Episode 3: Our Best and Worst Goat Theories

This Article contains spoilers for Severance Season 2.

Severance is a series shrouded in mystery, with each passing episode often raising more questions than answers while still managing to be incredibly satisfying. Still, in a series swimming in untold secrets, there is one question that we keep coming back to: WTF is the deal with the goats?

Said goats made their triumphant return in this week’s episode as Mark S. (Adam Scott) and Helly (Britt Lower) make their way through the hallways of Lumon’s severed floor trying to get answers on Mark’s formerly believed to be dead wife, Gemma (Dichen Lachman). On their quest, they find themselves in a goat room with a small horde of goat herders who seem completely out of place in a Lumon facility and also somehow seem to outnumber the very goats in their charge.

So, you know, again we have more questions than answers.

Because of this, we decided to open the question wide to our staff: what the heck do you think is going on with the goats?

Amelia Emberwing, Streaming Editor: The most demonic thing I’ve ever done (OK, the most demonic thing I’ve done this year…) is ask folks to fit these theories into a paragraph, and now here I am: hoisted by my own petard. This week’s episode might not have given us any new answers, but it did shift my focus from the goats to the goat people. I’m with most of the world in that I believe the goats are tied to the longevity of Kier Eagan in one way or another, but what the heck is going on with Gwendoline Christie’s character Lorne and her group of nomads? Does her outie wonder why she leaves her work in an office building every day smelling of goats and with straw in her hair? And what is this pouch situation all about?

Michael Peyton, Director of Events and Partnerships: Since the beginning of the series, the actual work of the Macrodata Refinement Team has been shrouded in mystery. What exactly are they doing by moving those numbers into all of those little digital boxes? Fan theories abound that it has something to do with keeping members of the Eagan family, particularly Helena’s father Jame, alive – possibly with the ultimate goal of reincarnating Lumon founder and quasi-deity (in the Severance world at least) Kier Eagan. The goat room (specifically the fact that the room seems to be filled with baby goats) plays right into it. It’s entirely possible that the team in that room is conducting scientific experiments aiming to preserve the lives of goats long past their natural lifespan, cloning goats, or even (somehow) bringing deceased goats back from the dead in service of their ultimate goal of “bringing back” their leader, Kier.

Ryan McCaffrey, Senior Executive Editor of Previews: I’m going to keep this one simple and not get too carried away with what I think the explanation will be for what is one of those outlandish moments from Season 1. My theory is that there’s something in the goats when they mature to a certain age – remember, the goat herder in that room said, “They’re not ready yet!” – that’s needed for the severance procedure. And Lumon does want to make severance a much bigger and more common thing than what we’re seeing in the show so far. So whether it’s that their DNA somehow goes into the severance chips or something else, I’m betting it has to do with scaling up the severance procedure on a global level.

Leanne Butkovic, Editorial Project Manager: I think it has something to do with some form of genetically engineered breeding in the pursuit of the indefinite longevity of consciousness (a company with a “Perpetuity Wing” isn’t exactly subtle) and/or building a perfectly docile and complacent workforce with the ideal ratios of Kier’s Four Tempers. In Lumon’s vision of late stage capitalism, dying is no longer a good excuse to not come into work. This is relevant because I think the goats are connected, but a Season 1 theory I liked a lot posits that the MDR team’s role in bucketing seemingly meaningless numbers is actually quite consequential to Lumon’s goals. The numbers represent patterns of personality traits – given that certain nodules have specific feelings in the eye of the microdata refiner – that are funneled into five bins each containing shorthand for the tempers: Woe, Frolic, Dread, and Malice. Lumon has the technology to sever a brain’s consciousness; surely, they could develop it further to mold optimized human personalities from categorized data. To that end, I feel like the experiment of creating perfect goats has finally reached a point of semi-stability to move onto humans, and the new child supervisor Ms. Huang is the beta release. Maybe this is going a bridge too far, but wouldn’t you agree that she looks suspiciously like what might have been the daughter of Mark and his wife Gemma/Ms. Casey if they had a kid? (Didn’t Dolly the sheep age unusually fast?)

Dan Stapleton, Director of Reviews: I don’t think what we’re seeing from the innies’ perspective is reality. The numbers on the computers aren’t actually numbers and the goats aren’t actually goats. Anyone with the brain implant technology needed to sever a person’s memories would plausibly have the technology to alter their perception so that they aren’t aware of what they’re truly doing, which could be something super messed up. What that is, I dare not venture to guess.

Scott Collura, Associate Director of Features: DO THEY HAVE POUCHES. That’s what the one and only Gwendoline Christie (and her coworkers) want to know about Mark and Helly when they find a new goat room in this week’s episode of Severance. As the apparent head of her department – Mammalians Nurturable, of course – Christie’s character has a lot on her mind it seems, not the least of which is the question of whether or not the pair from Macrodata Refinement is there to kill her. (With their pouches maybe?) But while more questions are raised than answered by the visit to this expanded goat room, one thing is now clear: The goats are being tended to for something other than typical animal husbandry. Are they integral to the severance process? Does severance involve pouches? How can Christie’s character be certain that Mark and Helly don’t have pouches? They only showed her part of their bellies! And come to think of it, does Christie have a pouch? Do Christie’s rough-around-the-edges colleagues sleep in goat pouches!? How big are goat pouches? Wait, what… goats don’t have pouches?

    Never mind.

Erik Adams, Entertainment Reviews Editor: When it comes to my TV puzzle boxes, I’m much more Leftovers than Lost: My preference is to let the mystery be, so I’d be perfectly satisfied if we never get a straight answer about the goats. But I did get the feeling from this week’s episode that the goat room could be some sort of probationary purgatory between standard (using that term very loosely here) work on the severed floor and retirement – the break room, but the break lasts a lot longer. The hostility of Christie’s character, the generally feral appearance and attitudes of her co-workers – this says to me that Lumon has a way of dealing with innies who aren’t a good culture fit (barf) but aren’t yet ready to return to a 100 percent outie existence.

Obviously, we want to hear your theories too! Drop ’em in the comments.

In the latest episode of Severance, we were finally given a glimpse into the mysterious world of the goats that roam the facility. As we eagerly dissected every detail, our theories about these enigmatic creatures ranged from the plausible to the downright outrageous. Here are our best and worst goat theories from episode 3:

Best Goat Theories:
1. The goats are a form of therapy for the employees, providing a sense of calm and companionship in an otherwise stressful environment.
2. The goats are being used as test subjects for a secret experiment, possibly related to the brain-altering procedures being conducted on the employees.
3. The goats are actually intelligent beings that are somehow connected to the strange occurrences happening within the facility.

Worst Goat Theories:
1. The goats are aliens in disguise, sent to spy on the employees and gather information about their activities.
2. The goats are actually robotic creations designed to monitor and control the employees’ behavior.
3. The goats are a hallucination induced by the mind-altering procedures, and they don’t actually exist at all.

As the mystery of the goats continues to unfold, we can only hope that our wildest theories will be either confirmed or debunked in the episodes to come. What are your best and worst goat theories from Severance episode 3? Share them in the comments below!

  • I’m So Frustrated With Nolan’s Reckless Behavior In An Already Tedious Episode

Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from The Rookie season 7, episode 3, “Out of Pocket.”The Rookie season 7 appeared to be making progress after its lackluster premiere, but episode 3 derails any of its headway with a rather forgettable and disappointing hour. ABC’s police procedural has been successful and intriguing enough to make it to a seventh season. However, it’s failing to capitalize on any qualities that made it so great in the first place. The characters in The Rookie season 7, episode 3 make mistakes that are more irritable than relatable; the “case of the week” is nowhere to be seen; and the setup of future villains fails to have much impact.

In “Out of Pocket,” Nolan obsesses over protecting himself and Bailey from Jason. Meanwhile, the two new rookies — Miles and Seth — ignore direct orders that land them in hot waters, Rachel moves back to Los Angeles to crash on Lucy’s couch, and Detective Graham’s crush on Angela continues to torment Wesley. All in all, though, not much happens during the episode of The Rookie that is particularly memorable or seemingly important for the story going forward. The hour doesn’t even have an interesting, worthwhile case.

The Rookie Season 7, Episode 3 Highlights The Irritating Special Treatment Nolan Gets

Nolan’s Recklessness Is Overlooked, While Miles & Seth’s Disobedience Isn’t

It’s no secret that Nathan Fillion’s Nolan can be one of The Rookie‘s most frustrating characters, and his actions in season 7, episode 3 certainly don’t do him any favors. After the events of The Rookie season 6 finale, Nolan has been on high alert. Jason’s escape from prison has made him paranoid, and he wants to ensure his and Bailey’s safety, which is completely understandable. However, the lengths that Nolan goes to in episode 3 to do so are irresponsible, and the show doesn’t even acknowledge his recklessness, confirming an exasperating double standard exists regarding Fillion’s character.

The Rookie Season 7, Episode 2 Review: I’m Thrilled About Nyla & Angela’s Substantial Screen Time After Their Neglect In Season 6

Although The Rookie season 7, episode 2 continues ignoring past cliffhangers, the hour does a great job bringing the show back to its episodic format.

It seems the writers weren’t even aware of the hypocrisy concerning Nolan’s actions while writing the episode. Earlier in the hour, Grey reprimands Miles and Seth because they fail to follow orders. The only reason they aren’t fired is because they start trending on social media as “rookie heroes,” and the LAPD can’t afford any more bad press following the corruption scandal.

So, when juxtaposed with Miles and Seth’s storyline, Nolan’s arc is made out to be quite aggravating and does little to make viewers want to root for The Rookie‘s main character.

Meanwhile, Nolan goes rogue and leaves a civilian bleeding out on the floor to chase a suspect who might know where Jason is. He doesn’t get punished, although the suspect gets away and the civilian almost dies. So, when juxtaposed with Miles and Seth’s storyline, Nolan’s arc is quite aggravating and does little to make us want to root for The Rookie‘s main character.

Rachel’s Return Is Exciting But Adds Little To The Story

It’s Unclear Why Lucy’s Friend & Tim’s Ex Is Being Reintegrated Into The Show

An important segment of the episode is Rachel’s return. Rachel is Lucy’s friend who used to date Tim before moving to New York City in season 2. However, they broke up, and Rachel hasn’t been seen or heard from since. In “Out of Pocket,” though, Rachel moves back to Los Angeles and informs Lucy that she lost her job and is in the middle of a crisis. So, Lucy agrees to let Rachel sleep on her couch while searching for a place. While it’s nice to see a familiar face from The Rookie‘s best season, Rachel’s return is confusing.

The Rookie season 7 will consist of 18 episodes.

Her place in the story doesn’t make much sense (at least for now). Rachel doesn’t seem to be back to propel Tim and Lucy’s journey in The Rookie season 7 forward. She and Tim make amends, with no indication of a possible reunion between the two that could impede Tim and Lucy’s inevitable reconciliation. Perhaps that changes in the coming episodes, but in the meantime, Rachel’s place in season 7 is seemingly insignificant, begging the question of why she’s back. At least Tim and Lucy’s slow-burn reunion continues in episode 3, which will make their eventual getting back together sweeter.

The Episode’s Foreshadowing Of Jason’s Return Fails To Garner Any Intrigue

    Nolan’s Actions Are Simply Frustrating

Steve Kazee as Jason Wyler in The Rookie (1)

Throughout The Rookie season 7, episode 3, Nolan focuses on finding Jason. He makes little progress in tracking down Bailey’s criminal ex-husband, and his actions don’t exactly bring us to the edge of our seats, anxiously awaiting Jason’s arrival (although they’re supposed to). Instead, Nolan’s actions are eye-roll-inducing, making one eager for this Jason storyline to be over. Perhaps the drunk blonde who stumbles onto Nolan’s doorstep will play an important part in Jason’s return, making it much more interesting and clever. However, with all the known facts as of The Rookie season 7, episode 3, Jason’s arc is just frustrating.

New episodes of The Rookie season 7 air weekly at 10pm ET every Tuesday on ABC.

    Pros & Cons

    • More screen time for Angela, Nyla, and Wesley
    • Tim and Lucy’s unavoidable reconciliation continues to be a slow burn
    • Nolan’s recklessness is strangely ignored
    • Rachel’s return feels like it is out of left field
    • The episode doesn’t build much intrigue surrounding Jason’s inevitable return

I’m So Frustrated With Nolan’s Reckless Behavior In An Already Tedious Episode

I just finished watching the latest episode of my favorite TV show, and I have to say, I am beyond frustrated with Nolan’s reckless behavior. In an already tedious episode filled with drama and tension, Nolan’s actions only served to make things worse.

From making impulsive decisions without thinking about the consequences to putting himself and others in danger, Nolan’s behavior was completely irresponsible. It’s like he has a total disregard for the well-being of himself and those around him.

I understand that the show thrives on drama and conflict, but there’s a fine line between adding excitement and making the audience want to scream at their TV screens. And Nolan’s actions definitely crossed that line.

I just hope that in future episodes, Nolan learns from his mistakes and starts to think before he acts. Otherwise, I don’t know how much more of his reckless behavior I can handle.
