  • Trevor Etienne provides a crucial injury update ahead of the Sugar Bowl

Trevor Etienne provides a crucial injury update ahead of the Sugar Bowl

Georgia football is in desperate need of some good injury luck to fall their way in their running back room. Yes this is football and everyone expects injuries to happen, but the amount the UGA running back room has suffered this season is far from what anyone should expect.

And those injuries are beginning to add up once again as both Branson Robinson and Roderick Robinson are expected to miss the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1. So that once again puts Georgia in a difficult spot as what is a very deep running back room is shrinking extremely fast.

With these two running backs being ruled, everyone is now turning their attention to Trevor Etienne who is the Bulldogs’ top running back this season but has dealt with an injury of his own. Etienne suffered a rib injury against Florida that he injured again in practice after the Ole Miss game which caused him to miss the final three games of the regular season.

Etienne did return for the SEC Championship game against Texas where he found the end zone twice, but there is still a little concern for his health considering this was his frist game back. Those concerns however were dispelled as Etienne updated how his ribs have been doing since this injury.

“I’ll definitely be wearing it (protective jacket), but my ribs are a lot better,” Etienne said via uga.rivals.com. “It’s no pain in there whatsoever, but I’ll definitely be wearing it.”

Etienne and Nate Frazier need to stay healthy

After finding out earlier this week that Carson Beck will be out for the entire College Football Playoff, it became very apparent that Georgia will have to rely on their run game a lot more. And that endeavor became more intimidating after the recent injury updates to Georgia’s running back room.

Georgia still has two elite options in the backfield in Etienne and freshman Nate Frazier, but things could get sketchy if either player gets injured during the playoffs. Georgia was able to survive with only Frazier for a few games at the end of the regular season, but that will be a lot more difficult to accomplish in the postseason.

So hopefully they both stay healthy because that will give Georgia the best chance at winning a National Championship this year when everyone is already doubting them so much.

Trevor Etienne provides a crucial injury update ahead of the Sugar Bowl

Clemson running back Trevor Etienne has provided an important injury update ahead of the team’s upcoming Sugar Bowl matchup against Ohio State.

Etienne, who has been dealing with a nagging ankle injury in recent weeks, took to social media to reassure fans that he will be ready to go for the highly anticipated showdown.

“I want to thank all the fans for their support and well wishes during this time. I’m feeling better every day and I will be on the field giving it my all for the Sugar Bowl,” Etienne wrote.

The sophomore standout has been a key contributor for the Tigers this season, racking up over 800 rushing yards and scoring 13 touchdowns. His presence in the backfield will be crucial for Clemson as they look to secure a spot in the national championship game.

With Etienne’s injury status trending in the right direction, fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that one of their top playmakers will be ready to go come game time. Stay tuned for more updates as the Sugar Bowl draws closer.

  • Georgia running back Trevor Etienne ready for triumphant return to Louisiana

Georgia running back Trevor Etienne ready for triumphant return to Louisiana

Georgia running back Trevor Etienne started December by bouncing back from a painful rib injury and stealing the show in the SEC championship game. He looks to end December by having similar success in his return to his home state.

The Jennings, Louisiana native is back in the boot this week as the Bulldogs prepare to face Notre Dame in the 2025 Sugar Bowl. While Etienne hasn’t had much success in the Superdome, the junior tailback is looking to change that Wednesday when a CFP semifinals spot is on the line.

“Words can’t describe how excited I am to be back home, playing in New Orleans, playing in Louisiana,” Etienne said. “I actually don’t have that good of a history with games in that stadium. I lost in the state championship. It was terrible. My brother lost in college, I believe twice, in that stadium. But his last game there he won, so I can say we’re on the upside of what we call ‘The Dome Curse.’

“Man, it’s going to be electric. I can’t wait.”

Etienne’s first season at Georgia has featured a few setbacks that the veteran back has quickly bounced back from.

Etienne missed Georgia’s season opener due to suspension but came on strong as the clear lead back. He routinely made something out of nothing with an inconsistent offensive line until suffering a rib injury in the first half of the Florida game on Nov. 2. Etienne played sparingly the following week against Ole Miss then missed the next three games due to injury.

Etienne explained the injury didn’t face him much, and by SEC title game week he was bound and determined to return to the field. He not only suited up against Texas while sporting a flight jacket to protect his ribs, but he was a key part of a Georgia offense that sought answers once it lost starting quarterback Carson Beck.

Georgia leaned heavily on Etienne in the second half and gave him 10 carries in the second half. Etienne got two more carries in overtime, the last being the 4-yard touchdown run that gave the Bulldogs an SEC championship.

Tight end Oscar Delp was one of the first people to Etienne after the play, and Delp could not contain his excitement for his teammate.

“He’s a guy who came here and, I mean, I feel like he’s been here since I got here,” Delp said. “He’s someone I really consider a brother, and I know the offense loves him. Everyone on the team loves him. He’s a great leader, a great person. And, you know, just to have him have that moment and me get to be there with him was really special. And, I mean, he deserves it.”

Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo described Etienne as a special back capable of hitting a home run at any moment, and it’s a safe bet that he will get his opportunities come Wednesday. The Bulldogs are expected to lean on Etienne and the run game quite a bit with Gunner Stockton taking over behind center, which should give No. 1 plenty of chances to touch the football.

The good news for Etienne is that he said the last three weeks have been huge in terms of getting healthy and resting up. Etienne came to Georgia with hopes of winning a championship, and it looks like his play will go a long way in deciding just how far the Bulldogs go.

“This is the game that every college player wants to be part of at the end of the year,” Etienne said. “This is the reason we go through the offseason training and we put all the hard work in — to be able to get a shot at the title. And this is, you know, a step along that road, so it’s just really a blessing and a great feeling to be a part of something that’s special.”

After a season-ending knee injury last year, Georgia running back Trevor Etienne is ready to make a triumphant return to his home state of Louisiana. The former standout high school player from Jennings, Louisiana, is eager to show his skills on the field once again and prove that he is back and better than ever.

Etienne, the younger brother of Clemson star running back Travis Etienne, has been working tirelessly to rehab his knee and get back into top playing shape. With a combination of speed, power, and elusiveness, he is poised to make a major impact for the Georgia Bulldogs this season.

As Georgia prepares to take on LSU in a highly anticipated matchup, all eyes will be on Etienne as he faces off against his home state team. With a chance to showcase his talent in front of friends and family, Etienne is determined to make a statement and lead his team to victory.

Fans can expect to see Etienne’s explosive playmaking ability on full display as he looks to cement his place as one of the top running backs in the country. Keep an eye out for Trevor Etienne as he looks to make his triumphant return to Louisiana and leave his mark on the college football world.
