  • Chris Evans ‘Happily Retired’ from Marvel, Denies Report He’s Returning

Chris Evans is seemingly shutting down claims that he will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain America.

In Esquire‘s new profile on Anthony Mackie ahead of the release of Captain America: Brave New World, Evans denied recent reports that he’ll be back as Steve Rogers in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday.

“That’s not true,” said Evans, 43, when asked about the December 2024 report, explaining that similar rumors “happen every couple years” since he last played the character in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

“I’ve just stopped responding to it,” he added, quipping, “Yeah, no — happily retired!”

As Marvel fans know, Sam Wilson (Mackie, 46) finally embraced the Captain America shield during the events of the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, after serving as the first Captain’s sidekick Falcon, and takes the lead in the upcoming Brave New World.

Mackie told Esquire with a laugh that he “didn’t know” about the rumors of Evans potentially returning, explaining, “I talked to Chris a few weeks ago and it wasn’t on the table then.”

“At least, he didn’t tell me it was on the table, because I asked him,” he continued. “I was like, ‘You know, they said they’re bringing everyone back for [Doomsday]. Are you coming back?’ ”

“He goes, ‘Oh, you know, I’m happily retired,’ ” Mackie added.

Evans did reprise his role as his pre-MCU Fantastic Four character Johnny Storm/Human Torch in last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine for a surprise cameo.

As for Cap, Evans previously said during a November 2023 appearance on The View that he “always see(s) those reports” about him returning as the popular character.

“Every couple months, someone says that they’re getting [Robert Downey Jr.] and [Chris] Hemsworth and Scarlett [Johansson], and everyone’s coming back,” he said, adding, “No one’s spoken to me about it.”

Downey, 59, was later confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2024 to be returning to the MCU for the next two Avengers movies, Doomsday and 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars — not as his previous superhero character Tony Stark/Iron Man, who died in Endgame, but as villain Doctor Doom.

Captain America: Brave New World is in theaters Feb. 14.

In a recent interview with Variety, Chris Evans, best known for his role as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealed that he is “happily retired” from the franchise and denied recent reports suggesting that he is returning to the role.

Evans, who portrayed the iconic superhero for nearly a decade, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play such a beloved character but emphasized that he is ready to move on to new projects.

“I loved playing Captain America and will always be grateful for the experience, but I feel like I have said goodbye to that chapter of my life,” Evans said. “I am excited to explore new roles and challenges in my career.”

Fans of the MCU may be disappointed to hear that Evans has no plans to reprise his role as Captain America, but they can look forward to seeing him in upcoming projects, including the highly anticipated “Knives Out 2” and “The Gray Man.”

While it may be the end of an era for Evans in the MCU, his legacy as Captain America will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of fans around the world.

  • Chris Evans Denies Returning to MCU for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

So Chris Evans isn’t returning for Avengers: Doomsday? Well … according to Captain America himself, he isn’t.

Though The Hollywood Reporter confirmed in December that Evans would be dipping back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actor is now denying those reports.

Evans recently told Esquire magazine, as part of a cover story on Anthony Mackie, “That’s not true, though. This always happens. I mean, it happens every couple years — ever since Endgame. I’ve just stopped responding to it. Yeah, no — happily retired!”

Evans became a cornerstone in the MCU for his role as Steve Rogers/Captain America. He first portrayed the superhero in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger and, after numerous films, retired his version following 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Evans’ character was also close friends with Mackie’s Sam Wilson/Falcon, who has now inherited Captain America’s shield (his new film Captain America: Brave New World comes out Feb. 14).

Mackie, who is also set to star in Avengers: Doomsday, was also asked by Esquire if he was aware of Evans potentially returning to Marvel.

“I didn’t know!” he admitted. “I talked to Chris a few weeks ago and it wasn’t on the table then. At least, he didn’t tell me it was on the table, because I asked him. I was like, ‘You know, they said they’re bringing everyone back for the movie. Are you coming back?’ He goes, ‘Oh, you know, I’m happily retired.’”

The Twisted Metal actor continued, “I learned that right there. My manager showed me. He’s like, ‘Oh, so I guess Chris is coming back.’ That’s all I know. I haven’t seen a script.”

This wouldn’t be the first time an actor has lied about not making a grand superhero return … ahem, Andrew Garfield. The actor famously denied reprising his Spider-Man role for months before shocking audiences with a surprise appearance in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Avengers: Doomsday is being directed by the Russo brothers and is currently set for a May 1, 2026, release. Robert Downey Jr. is also playing Doctor Doom in the movie.

In a recent interview, Chris Evans, known for his role as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has denied rumors of his return for the upcoming film ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.

Evans stated that he has thoroughly enjoyed his time as Captain America and feels that his character’s story arc was completed in a satisfying way in ‘Avengers: Endgame’. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of the MCU but made it clear that he is ready to move on to new projects.

Fans have been speculating about the possibility of Evans returning to the role, especially with the multiverse concept being introduced in the MCU. However, it seems that Evans is firm in his decision to step away from the franchise.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to be a major event in the MCU, with the potential for high stakes and epic battles. While Evans won’t be reprising his role, fans can still look forward to the return of other beloved characters and the introduction of new heroes.

  • Chris Evans Denies Reports of Marvel Return in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Anthony Mackie and Chris Evans spent five years making Marvel movies together as Sam Wilson/Falcon and Steve Rogers/Captain America. Their characters were close friends, with Steve bestowing the Captain America shield to Sam at the end of 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame.” That decision reaches its full potential in Marvel’s upcoming “Captain America: Brave New World,” in which Mackie is now the eponymous freedom fighter. So what did Mackie make of the surprise news that Evans is returning to Marvel in 2026’s “Avengers: Doomsday“?

“I didn’t know!” Mackie told Esquire magazine as part of a new cover story.

“I learned that right there,” he continued. “My manager showed me. He’s like, ‘Oh, so I guess Chris is coming back.’ That’s all I know. I haven’t seen a script.”

However, Evans also spoke to Esquire for the magazine’s Mackie cover story and disputed the report that he will be back for the next “Avengers” movie. While the actor last appeared as Captain America in “Endgame,” he did make a surprise cameo last year in “Deadpool & Wolverine” as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, a character he played 2005’s “Fantastic Four” and 2007’s “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.”

“That’s not true, though,” Evans said about the report claiming he’s coming back to Marvel again. “This always happens. I mean, it happens every couple years — ever since ‘Endgame.’ I’ve just stopped responding to it. Yeah, no — happily retired!”

Of course Evans could be lying (just look at Andrew Garfield, who denied for months that he was playing Spider-Man again and then popped up in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”), but for now the actor is denying he’s got a role in “Avengers: Doomsday.” The film is being directed by the Russo Bros. and will mark Robert Downey Jr.’s Marvel debut as the villainous Doctor Doom. Mackie is fully expected to star in the next “Avengers” movies as the MCU’s new Captain American.

“What you don’t want is ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame’ 2.0,” Mackie said of the upcoming tentpole. “The Russos, they’re so smart, and they have such a hold on this universe and the history and the comic books that I know they have an idea. I mean, they better have an idea. I don’t know how you put all those people onscreen together and make it work.”

As for Mackie’s future as Captain America, the actor said “I give it a solid 10 years,” explaining: “You have the two Avengers movies, you have hopefully another Captain America, and then random plug-and-plays: Oh, Spider-Man! Oh, Fantastic Four! What are you doing here? But you never know. I mean, I don’t want to be a 60-year-old Captain America.”

“Captain America: Brave New World” opens in theaters Feb. 14 from Disney and Marvel. Head over to Esquire’s website to read Mackie’s cover story in its entirety.

Recently, there have been rumors circulating that Chris Evans, known for his iconic role as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is set to return in the upcoming film ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. However, the actor himself has taken to social media to deny these reports.

In a tweet posted earlier today, Evans wrote, “While I am grateful for the love and support from fans, I want to clarify that I will not be returning as Captain America in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. It was an incredible journey portraying this character, but I feel that my time in the MCU has come to an end.”

Fans of the beloved superhero may be disappointed by this news, but it seems that Evans is ready to move on to other projects. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is still highly anticipated, with fans eagerly awaiting its release to see how the story unfolds without Captain America’s presence. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated film.

  • Anthony Mackie’s Controversial Captain America Quote Mirrors Chris Evans, The Comics

Ahead of the release of Captain America: Brave New World, star Anthony Mackie went viral with his take on what Captain America represents. And that’s not necessarily just America. The quote was widely shared and required follow-up clarification from the actor. But it feels like Mackie is being unfairly targeted given that the last actor to have that role, Chris Evans said something nearly identical when he took the part. And so has Captain American in the actual comics.

    Here’s Mackie’s original quote:

“Captain America represents a lot of different things and I don’t think the term ‘America’ should be one of those representations. It’s about a man who keeps his word, who has honor, dignity and integrity.”

Then, later he followed up with another comment on Instagram:

“I’m a proud American and taking on the shield of a hero like Cap is the honor of a lifetime. I have the utmost respect for those who serve and have served our country. Cap has universal characteristics that people all over the world can relate to.”

If this is a “controversy,” then you have to wonder why Chris Evans didn’t get the same level of flak for his quote about playing the character. Here’s him speaking with CBM back in 2011 ahead of the first film in the series, The First Avenger:

“Ha, well, to me, I’m not trying to get too lost in the American side of it. This isn’t a flag waving movie. It is red, white and blue, but it just so happens that the character was created in America during war time, when there was a common enemy, even though it is Captain America. I’ve said before in interviews, it feels more like he should just be called Captain Good. [Laughs] You know, he was created at a time when there was this undeniable evil and this guy was kind of created to fight that evil. I think that everyone could agree that Nazis were bad and he, Cap, just so happens to wear the red, white and blue.”

Going further back, this has often been portrayed significantly more pointedly by Captain America in the comics themselves. One such example from an issue:

“Listen to me, all of you out there! You were told by this man, your hero, that America is the greatest country in the world! He told you that Americans were the greatest people, that America could be refined like silver, could have the impurities hammered out of it and shine more brightly. He went on about how precious American was, how you needed to make sure it remained great. And he told you anything was justified to preserve that pearl of the great price that is America!”

“Well I say American is nothing! Without its ideals, its commitment to the freedom of all men, America is a piece of trash! A nation is nothing! A flag is a piece of cloth! I fought Adolph Hitler not because America was great, because it was fragile! I k new that liberty could be easily snuffed out here as in Nazi Germany! As a people we were no different than them! When I returned, I saw that you nearly did turn America into nothing!”

Imagine if Anthony Mackie said that. All Mackie is doing is reiterating a common sentiment about the character, and if the takeaway from people’s perception of Captain America is that he’s a mindless soldier fighting for the US to spread freedom everywhere, you don’t know the characters very well (maybe go watch The Winter Soldier again, for starters?). Mackie has many challenges ahead taking up this mantle, but this fake controversy should not be one of them.

Anthony Mackie’s recent statement about his character becoming Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has sparked controversy among fans. In an interview with Variety, Mackie said, “The idea of being a Black man and becoming Captain America is an amazing opportunity. But it comes with a lot of weight.” This statement mirrors what Chris Evans, who portrayed Steve Rogers/Captain America in the MCU, has said in the past about the character.

In the comics, Steve Rogers passed on the mantle of Captain America to Sam Wilson, played by Mackie in the movies. This storyline has been met with mixed reactions from fans, with some praising the decision to have a Black actor take on the iconic role, while others expressing concern over the implications of the character’s race change.

Mackie’s comments about the weight of becoming Captain America highlight the social and cultural significance of the character, especially when portrayed by a Black actor. It is a reminder that representation matters in media, and that the roles we see on screen can have a powerful impact on how we view ourselves and others.

As the MCU continues to expand and evolve, it will be interesting to see how the character of Captain America develops under Mackie’s portrayal and how it reflects the changing social landscape of our world.

  • Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans named to the NFL Pro Bowl

The National Football League today announced that Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evanswas named to the 2025 Pro Bowl Games, replacing Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who is unable to participate due to injury. It marks the sixth career Pro Bowl honor for Evans (2016, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024), tying him for the third-most selections by a Buccaneer in franchise history, trailing only Pro Football Hall of Famers Derrick Brooks (11) and Warren Sapp (seven). Evans and Mike Alstott are tied for the most selections among all offensive players in team history, with six.

In 2024, Evans extended his historic streak of 1,000-yard receiving seasons to 11 – every season of his career – finishing with 74 receptions for 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns in 14 games played. In the process, he tied Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice for the most consecutive 1,000-yard seasons in NFL history (11) and surpassed Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss (10) for the second-most total 1,000-yard seasons in league history, trailing only Rice (14). It marked Evans’ sixth season with 1,000+ receiving yards and 10+ receiving touchdowns – the fifth-most such seasons in NFL history, trailing only Pro Football Hall of Famers Rice (9), Marvin Harrison (8), Moss (8) and Terrell Owens (8).

Across his 11 seasons with Tampa Bay, Evans has appeared in 168 career games, making 167 starts, and amassing 836 receptions for 12,684 receiving yards and 105 receiving touchdowns. All-time in league history, Evans ranks ninth in receiving touchdowns, 24th in receiving yards and 35th in receptions. He is 1-of-4 players with 12,000+ receiving yards and 100+ touchdown receptions through 11 career seasons, along with a trio of Hall of Famers in Harrison, Moss and Rice. Evans’ 105 touchdown receptions rank fifth and his 12,684 receiving yards stand sixth among all NFL players through their first 11 seasons. Evans remains Tampa Bay’s all-time leader in points scored (644), receptions, receiving yards, receiving touchdowns, total touchdowns (106) and scrimmage yards (12,694).

A captain in each of the past eight seasons for the Buccaneers, Evans is a four-time Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee.

Evans will join teammates Vita Vea and Tristan Wirfs, who were originally selected to the Pro Bowl on January 2. The 2025 Pro Bowl Games are set to take place January 30 through February 2 in Orlando and will be broadcasted on ESPN.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have another player headed to the NFL Pro Bowl, as wide receiver Mike Evans has been named to the prestigious roster. Evans, known for his impressive catches and ability to make big plays, has been an integral part of the Bucs’ offense this season.

Evans, who has been with the Buccaneers since being drafted in the first round in 2014, has consistently been one of the team’s top receiving threats. This season, he has totaled over 1,000 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, showcasing his talent and skill on the field.

With this Pro Bowl selection, Evans joins teammate Tom Brady and several other Buccaneers players who have earned the honor this season. The Pro Bowl selection is a well-deserved accolade for Evans, who has proven himself to be one of the top wide receivers in the league.

Congratulations to Mike Evans on this impressive achievement! Buccaneers fans can look forward to seeing him represent the team in the Pro Bowl and continue to make big plays on the field. #GoBucs #MikeEvans #ProBowlBound

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans Named To 2025 Pro Bowl

Mike Evans is headed to his sixth career Pro Bowl, further burnishing his Hall of Fame résumé.

On Monday, the NFL announced that Evans will be replacing the Dallas Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb on the NFC roster for the 2025 Pro Bowl Games. Lamb is unable to participate due to injury. Evans joins two Tampa Bay Buccaneers teammates, tackle Tristan Wirfs and defensive lineman Vita Vea, both of whom were named as Pro Bowl selections on January 2.

Evans’ six Pro Bowl selections ties him with Bucs legend Mike Alstott for the most by an offensive player in franchise history. Only Hall of Fame defenders Derrick Brooks (11) and Warren Sapp (seven) have more. Evans has been voted into the Pro Bowl in five of the last seven seasons.

Evans’ all-star nod comes after he once again made NFL history, becoming just the second player in NFL history to gain at least 1,000 receiving yards in 11 straight seasons. He joined Hall of Famer Jerry Rice on that abbreviated list, and only Rice, with 14, has more such seasons overall. Despite missing three games and most of a fourth due to a hamstring injury, Evans caught 74 passes for 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Over 11 NFL seasons, Evans has amassed 836 receptions for 12,864 yards and 105 touchdowns. His 105 touchdown receptions rank ninth in league history and he has reached double digits in that category in six of his 11 NFL campaigns.

The 2025 Pro Bowl Games will take place in Orlando, Florida from January 30 through February 2, culminating in a flag football game.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have another reason to celebrate as wide receiver Mike Evans has been named to the 2025 Pro Bowl roster. This marks Evans’ seventh Pro Bowl selection in his career, solidifying his status as one of the top receivers in the NFL.

Evans has been a key contributor to the Buccaneers’ success over the years, consistently putting up impressive numbers and making big plays when it matters most. His combination of size, speed, and hands have made him a nightmare for opposing defenses and a favorite target for quarterback Tom Brady.

Fans can look forward to seeing Evans showcase his skills against the best of the best in the Pro Bowl, where he will undoubtedly put on a show and represent the Buccaneers with pride. Congratulations to Mike Evans on this well-deserved honor! #GoBucs #ProBowlBound

  • Bucs’ Evans, Falcons’ Robinson among Pro Bowl replacements

NEW YORK — Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans got his 11th straight 1,000-yard season — and now he’s a Pro Bowler for the sixth time.

Evans was named to the Pro Bowl Games on Monday as a replacement player after spots were vacated by this year’s Super Bowl participants — the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs — and because of injuries.

With his sixth selection, Evans tied former Buccaneers fullback Mike Alstott for the most in franchise history. Evans missed three full games and much of a fourth because of a hamstring injury but finished with 1,004 receiving yards thanks to a 9-yard catch late in the fourth quarter of Tampa Bay’s season finale.

Also Monday, Atlanta running back Bijan Robinson was named to his first Pro Bowl. He takes the place of Eagles star Saquon Barkley.

New York Giants rookie receiver Malik Nabers was added, becoming the team’s first rookie receiver to make the Pro Bowl since Odell Beckham Jr. in 2014.

Washington linebacker Bobby Wagner was named as a replacement for Philadelphia’s Zack Baun, a day after the Commanders lost to the Eagles 55-23 in the NFC Championship Game. This is Wagner’s 10th appearance.

New Orleans center Erik McCoy replaces Philadelphia’s Cam Jurgens and Seattle defensive end Leonard Williams will fill in for Philadelphia’s Jalen Carter. It will be the second trip for each player.

Minnesota offensive tackle Brian O’Neill also made his second Pro Bowl, replacing Philadelphia’s Lane Johnson.

Carolina guard Robert Hunt replaces Philadelphia’s Landon Dickerson and Detroit offensive tackle Taylor Decker replaces injured Lions teammate Penei Sewell.

In the AFC, Miami tight end Jonnu Smith replaces Kansas City’s Travis Kelce. Cleveland offensive guard Joel Bitonio will make his seventh straight appearance when he replaces Kansas City’s Joe Thuney. New York Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams will make his third straight appearance, filling in for Kansas City’s Chris Jones.

The Pro Bowl Games run Thursday through Sunday in Orlando, Florida, and include skills competitions and a flag football game.

The Pro Bowl rosters are always subject to change, and two standout players have been added as replacements for the upcoming game. Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ wide receiver Mike Evans and Atlanta Falcons’ linebacker Deion Jones have been named as replacements for the Pro Bowl.

Evans, who had a stellar season with over 1,000 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, will be joining the NFC squad as a replacement for injured Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver Davante Adams. Evans has been a consistent playmaker for the Buccaneers and will add another dynamic threat to the NFC offense.

On the defensive side of the ball, Jones has been a key player for the Falcons with his speed and playmaking ability. He will be filling in for Seattle Seahawks’ linebacker Bobby Wagner, who will miss the Pro Bowl due to injury. Jones has been a tackling machine for the Falcons and will bring his intensity to the NFC defense.

Both Evans and Jones have proven themselves as elite players in the NFL, and their addition to the Pro Bowl rosters will surely add excitement to the game. Fans can look forward to seeing these two talented players showcase their skills on the big stage.

  • ‘Hot Ones’ Host Sean Evans Teases Oscar Plans

As the host of the pop culture phenomenon Hot Ones, Sean Evans is used to sitting across from A-list stars while making them sweat with spicy wings and a side of interview questions. But this week in Park City, Evans found himself in relatively new territory by attending his first Sundance Film Festival, walking red carpets and facing off with journalists.

“I like your side a little bit better, there’s more control. I’m a little bit on my heels with you, but I’m ready,” said Evans with that now-familiar smile as he spent a few minutes with The Hollywood Reporter ahead of the starry fundraiser Celebrating Sundance Institute at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley on Friday night.

Evans, hot on the heels of a deal to acquire his show’s production company, First We Feast, from Buzzfeed along with a team of investors that includes fellow YouTube stars Rhett and Link (who are also here in Park City), was loving what he’d experienced at Sundance so far. “It’s been a lot of fun,” he said. “It’s a beautiful city, an amazing environment. It’s cool to see the way that people rally around film here, and I’m just kind of soaking it all in.”

Like much of his life, the trip was “a little business, a little pleasure,” a benefit of internet stardom. “The show gives me all these unique experiences and I get to travel to all these cool spots and have unique access to all of these things,” he explained. “I never take any of that for granted.”

He’s particularly looking forward to Oscar weekend and he revealed to THR that he’s got big things planned. “I’m going to the Oscars,” he confirmed. “I actually just got fitted for the tux. We’ll see what we can do because of the situation [with the wildfires] in Los Angeles. They’ve had to move some things around, but hopefully we’re going to do some fun sit down interviews with some people. I’m looking forward to it.”

Evans didn’t reveal if it’s a formal partnership with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences or if he’ll be filming away from the red carpet that day, but THR has reached out for additional intel.

In the meantime, Evans will continue to soak up his time at Sundance. And he seems to have been making the most of it. He was spotted at TAO Park City on Saturday night when Jennifer Lopez took to the stage for a surprise 10-minute performance on what turned out to be a snowy, cold night in Park City with temperatures in the low teens. He may host Hot Ones but Evans is just as “well-versed” in the cold.

“I grew up in Chicago,” said Evans, a graduate of University of Illinois. “So my whole thing is if you’re too hot, that’s uncomfortable. If you’re too cold, that’s painful. That’s miserable. I’d rather be too hot than too cold.”

Hot Ones drops a new episode every Thursday morning on YouTube.

Get ready for some spicy Oscar coverage because Sean Evans, the host of the popular YouTube show “Hot Ones,” is teasing his plans for the upcoming Academy Awards. Known for his love of all things hot and spicy, Evans has hinted that he will be bringing the heat to the red carpet with his signature brand of fiery interviews.

Fans of “Hot Ones” know that Evans is no stranger to putting celebrities in the hot seat with his lineup of increasingly spicy chicken wings. From Scarlett Johansson to Gordon Ramsay, Evans has grilled some of the biggest names in Hollywood with his burning questions and even hotter sauces.

Now, it looks like Evans is setting his sights on the Oscars, promising to bring the heat to the star-studded event. • Notre Dame TE Mitchell Evans

The College Football Playoff will feature plenty of top NFL talents, whether they are eligible or not. This is the talent level you expect to see in a game of caliber.

Senior tight end Mitchell Evans had high expectations as evident with his preseason All-American honors. The production on a per-game basis wasn’t there this season but he did score three touchdowns as compared to one a season ago. Evans needs to put on a show in the title game and potentially during the offseason process.

As a true senior, Mitchell Evans’ only viable path forward is heading to the NFL with no college eligibility left on the table.

    Mitchell Evans, Tight End

    Draft Projection: Round 6

Evans is among the best weapons for Riley Lenoard in certain situations. He has a high ceiling and one should believe we have only scratched the surface with Evans. In a more high-volume passing attack, the 6-foot-5-inch tight end would likely see more targets going his way. The Irish are no stranger to producing tight ends that make an impact at the next level.

Notre Dame TE Mitchell Evans: A Rising Star on the Rise

Mitchell Evans, a talented tight end for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, is quickly making a name for himself in the world of college football. Standing at 6’7″ and weighing in at 250 pounds, Evans possesses the size and athleticism to be a dominant force on the field.

Evans has shown great promise in his time at Notre Dame, displaying impressive skills as a pass-catcher and blocker. His ability to create mismatches with defenders has made him a valuable asset to the Irish offense, and he has been a reliable target for quarterback Jack Coan.

In addition to his on-field talents, Evans has also been praised for his work ethic and leadership qualities. His dedication to improving his craft and his willingness to put in the extra work have not gone unnoticed by his coaches and teammates.

As Evans continues to develop and grow as a player, there is no doubt that he has a bright future ahead of him. With his size, skills, and work ethic, he has all the makings of a star tight end in college football.

Keep an eye on Mitchell Evans as he continues to make a name for himself at Notre Dame and beyond. He is definitely a player to watch in the coming seasons.

    Mitchell Evans Scouting Report

    • Height: 6’5″
    • Weight: 260 pounds
    • Position: Tight End
    • School: Notre Dame
    • Current Year: Senior

Mayer was a tough act to follow at Notre Dame. He was an immediate producer, and eventually broke the school’s all-time receptions record for a TE, previously set by Tyler Eifert. Then, he went in Round 2 of the 2023 NFL Draft to the Las Vegas Raiders .

The task of following up Mayer was not an enviable one, but it’s one Evans took with grace as a former three-star recruit. For two years, he patiently waited his turn while providing value as a blocking TE. And then, in 2023, he took the reins.

In eight games before suffering a severe knee injury, Evans racked up 29 catches for 422 yards and a touchdown. And now, as a senior, he caught 39 passs for 369 yards and three touchdowns.

Though Evans isn’t as dynamic an athlete as Mayer was, he’s fluid enough to separate independently on digs and out routes, and he can work up the seam well enough with his baseline explosiveness and box-out ability.

Where Evans truly makes his money as a receiver, however, is with his hands and catching instincts. Evans has truly elite hands — as evidenced by his incredibly low drop rate — and he can not only make tough catches amidst contact, but also contort at rapid response times.

Without elite short-area agility and flexibility, there are instances where Evans gets tied up on sharper route breaks. Ultimately, his non-elite athleticism does put a cap on his ceiling. And while he’s a very good blocker, he can still improve his leverage maintenance and pad level.

Nevertheless, with his sound blocking utility, physical mentality, sure-handed nature, and fluid, nuanced separating skills as a receiver, Mitchell has the profile of a very solid TE2, who can provide two-phase and three-down value.

Latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft Projection

Evans’ current ADP in Pro Football Network’s Mock Draft Simulator is 97.0.

Users controlling the New York Jets are selecting him with 1% of their draft picks. The next highest percentage of selections for Evans are 0.9% of Philadelphia Eagles’ users.

Here is how Evans’ ADP data has changed over time:

In PFN’s latest seven-round 2025 NFL mock draft , Evans is projected to go No. 146 overall to the Washington Commanders.

While Zach Ertz has turned back the clock this season and developed a strong connection with quarterback Jayden Daniels, it’s worth noting that he is 34 years old, so the Commanders will need to find his heir apparent sooner than later.

As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, all eyes are on Notre Dame tight end Mitchell Evans. Evans has been garnering attention for his impressive performances on the field, and many scouts and analysts are predicting he will be a top prospect in this year’s draft.

In this draft hub, we will take a closer look at Evans’ potential and what he brings to the table as a prospect.

    Mock Draft Projection:
Many mock drafts have Evans going in the first round, with some even predicting he could be a top 10 pick. With his combination of size, speed, and athleticism, Evans is seen as a game-changing tight end who can create mismatches for defenses.

    Scouting Report:
Evans is a versatile tight end who can line up all over the field. He has the size and strength to be a dominant blocker in the run game, while also possessing the speed and route-running ability to be a threat in the passing game. Evans has soft hands and the ability to make tough catches in traffic, making him a reliable target for his quarterback.

    Projections:
Evans projects as a starting tight end in the NFL, with the potential to develop into a Pro Bowl-caliber player. His combination of size, speed, and athleticism make him a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses, and he has the potential to be a key weapon in any offense.

Overall, Mitchell Evans is a highly-talented prospect who has the potential to make a big impact at the next level. Keep an eye on him as the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, as he could be one of the top players selected.
