  • Eagles invite survivor of Bourbon Street attack back to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX: ‘Not letting evil win’

Former Princeton football player Ryan Quigley was seriously injured and lost his best friend and fellow teammate, Tiger Bech, in the violent terrorist attack in New Orleans on January 1. But Quigley will have the opportunity to write that tragic story when he returns next weekend as an honorary guest of the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles invited Quigley and Bech’s sister to attend their divisional round game against the Los Angeles Rams last month, but this week they invited him to their training facility with the intention of surprising him with Super Bowl LIX tickets.

“We want to tell you the real reason we brought you here,” Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham said in a video shared by the team. “It’s okay if you’re not feeling it, but we would love to have you down for the Super Bowl.”

This year’s Super Bowl will be hosted by the city of New Orleans. It will take place just a little over a month after the attack. Quigley will return to the city, something he vowed never to do again.

“New Year’s Eve was my first time in New Orleans ever, it was my first night, and I told myself it was going to be the last,” he told the team’s website. “But then I thought about it, because all year I’ve been telling Tiger if the Eagles make the Super Bowl this year, I promised him I was going to take him, and he’s from Louisiana.”

“I think, not letting evil win and evil will not prevail. I think we’re going to go back to New Orleans and leave on a positive note from that city, given that Tiger’s from there and that I promised him I was going bring him down to the Super Bowl. I’m looking forward to it for sure.”

Quigley, 26, suffered broken bones in his leg, back and face and underwent surgery and several days in the hospital to recover from a horrific terror attack on Bourbon Street that killed 14 people and injured dozens more.

CHIEFS POTENTIAL SUPER BOWL CELEBRATIONS WILL NOT FEATURE PUBLIC RALLY FOLLOWING 2024 MASS SHOOTING: REPORT

He hopes that his presence will allow him to share Bech’s story, something he plans to continue doing no, matter where he goes.

“Everything that the Eagles have done from being around the facilities today and the Divisional Round, to helping us share his story, there’s no words to describe it. We’re forever grateful to have the opportunity to tell the rest of the world how special Tiger was.”

“Everyone that I meet moving forward, I want to introduce Tiger as well, because of how special he was and how much character he had,” he added.

“He had no problem going to like anywhere in the world and fitting into different cultures. And he was just a super well-rounded individual with a ton of qualities that I’m going to make sure people know about for the rest of my life.”

The Philadelphia Eagles have extended a heartwarming invitation to one of the survivors of the tragic Bourbon Street shooting in New Orleans to attend Super Bowl LIX with them. The survivor, who wishes to remain anonymous, was caught in the crossfire during the senseless act of violence that took place in the iconic French Quarter.

The Eagles organization reached out to the survivor, expressing their desire to show support and solidarity during this difficult time. The survivor, who is a die-hard Eagles fan, was overwhelmed with gratitude for the invitation and eagerly accepted.

In a statement released by the Eagles, they expressed their commitment to standing with the survivor and not letting evil win. They emphasized the importance of coming together as a community to support those affected by such tragedies and to spread love and positivity in the face of darkness.

The survivor’s trip to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX will serve as a symbol of resilience and hope, showing that even in the midst of tragedy, there is still light and goodness to be found. The Eagles organization hopes that this gesture will bring some comfort and healing to the survivor as they continue to recover from the traumatic experience.

As the survivor prepares to join the Eagles in New Orleans for the big game, the entire team and fanbase stand in solidarity with them, sending thoughts of strength and support. Together, they will show that love and unity will always triumph over hate and violence. #NotLettingEvilWin #FlyEaglesFly

The story is set during the Dark Ages and follows an epic battle against demon hordes invading Europe. The story’s central characters are a secret sect of the Knights Templar called the Six Petals, who are struggling to defend against the demons.

And to make things even more exciting, a movie adaptation of ‘Big Rig’ is already in the works, with Post Malone himself set to star in the lead role.

  • Mad Max Will Meet Evil Dead In a New Comic From… Post Malone?!

Post Malone is entering the world of comics with Big Rig, a new project described as “Mad Max meets Evil Dead.” The new comic comes from publisher Vault Comics, in partnership with Michael Bay and Brad Fuller’s production company Platinum Dunes, who are also already developing the project into a feature film.

According to ComicBasics.com, Big Rig will be based on an original idea by Post Malone, with the singer teaming up with Vault Editor-in-Chief Adrian Wassell to write the comic with Barbaric’s Nathan Gooden handling the art duties.

Set in the Dark Ages, the story concerns the forces of Hell invading Europe. A sect of the Knights Templar known as the Six Petals pray to God for salvation, and receive a massive eighteen-wheeler called the Rig. An ex-communicated priest known as the Trucker then gets behind the wheel to do battle with the forces of Hell.

While the Big Rig graphic novel is scheduled to be released later in 2025, Vault will be releasing the first chapter on its own for Free Comic Book Day this May, as a way of building anticipation for the arrival of the full story. Malone himself expressed excitement at the project, stating:

This is going to kick ass. It’s amazing working with Vault and Michael Bay. Turning this idea into what we have has been unbelievable. The team has been crushing it, and I can’t believe we get to be a part of Free Comic Book Day.

While it would be easy to write the comic off as a vanity project, created solely to build interest in an eventual feature film, there’s no denying that “Mad Max meets Evil Dead” is an exciting concept.

Given the opportunity, Big Rig could be the surprise break-out indie comic of the year.

Further, the team that has come together to bring Post Malone’s vision to life should raise expectations for comic book fans. In particular, Nathan Gooden’s work on Barbaric wowed audiences when it debuted from Vault Comics in 2021, so getting to see the artist once again bring his mad, ultra-violent touch to a full-length graphic novel will be a treat for fans of bloody horror and high-octane action. Given the opportunity, Big Rig could be the surprise break-out indie comic of the year.

Fans will have to judge for themselves when the Big Rig graphic novel comes out in 2025. The Free Comic Book Day issue containing Chapter One of the story should give fans a taste of what to expect when the original graphic novel releases in full later this year. With its story of a Medieval ex-communicated priest driving a God-given eighteen-wheeler against the forces of Hell, Post Malone looks to be making a big splash with his Mad Max meets Evil Dead comic Big Rig.

Post Malone has teamed up with Vault Comics for Big Rig, a horror graphic novel described as Evil Dead meets Mad Max: Fury Road in medieval Europe.

Variety reports that Platinum Dunes, the production banner run by Michael Bay and Brad Fuller, is working with Malone and Vault on to develop a feature adaptation.

Based on an idea by Malone, Big Rig is co-written by the Grammy-nominated singer and Vault editor-in-chief Adrian Wassel. Vault co-founder Nathan Gooden (Barbaric) illustrates.

Set during the Dark Ages, the story sees demon hordes invading Europe. The Six Petals, a secret sect of the Knights Templar, are in desperate need of a means to drive back the scourge. What crashes to earth is The Rig, a fully loaded tractor trailer.

  • Resident Evil Reboot In the Works From Barbarian Director

Zach Cregger, best known as the director of the horror movie Barbarian and a member of the comedy group The Whitest Kids You Know, is working on a Resident Evil reboot movie.

The Hollywood Reporter says that a bidding war has erupted over who will distribute Cregger’s take on the classic Capcom survival horror game franchise with Cregger set to both write and direct the reboot. According to THR, four studios are bidding for the distribution rights, including Netflix and Warner Bros.

Cregger is best known for his 2022 horror movie Barbarian about a woman who books a stay at a rental house only to discover it’s hiding a horrifying secret. Cregger’s already finished work on his next film, Weapons, which sources say has been testing very high with audiences.

You can read our Barbarian review here.

This will be the second reboot of the Resident Evil franchise on screen. There were a series of six Resident Evil movies directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and starring Milla Jovovich. While not strictly adhering to the games, these movies did go on to gross $1.2 billion worldwide. A reboot titled Welcome to Raccoon City from director Johannes Roberts was released in 2021 that tried to be more faithful to the games, but still couldn’t match the quality of Capcom’s game series.

Like the previous films by Anderson and Welcome to Raccoon City, Constantin Film will produce the upcoming reboot alongside PlayStation Productions. Sony started up PlayStation Productions in 2019 to help oversee the translation of some of its games into movies including Uncharted starring Tom Holland, Grand Turismo, The Last of Us TV series, and Twisted Metal.

Upcoming PlayStation Production pictures include Until Dawn, Days Gone, Ghost of Tsushima, Gravity Rush, Helldivers, Horizon Zero Dawn, and an Uncharted sequel. There’s also a God of War TV show in the works as well as a Ghost of Tsushima anime series recently announced.

Matt Kim is IGN’s Senior Features Editor.

Resident Evil fans, get ready for some exciting news! A reboot of the beloved video game franchise is currently in the works, and it’s being helmed by none other than director Barbarian.

Barbarian, known for their work on intense and action-packed films, seems like the perfect fit to bring the world of Resident Evil back to the big screen in a fresh and exciting way. With their unique vision and style, we can expect a thrilling and immersive experience that stays true to the essence of the original games.

While details about the reboot are still scarce, fans can rest assured that the project is in good hands with Barbarian at the helm. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated reboot of Resident Evil!

  • ‘Barbarian’ Director Zach Cregger Writing and Directing Next ‘Resident Evil’ Movie

“With your eyes, you enter the world. With your ears, the world enters you,” an ethereal voice begins, followed by a sonic sensory assault that trips the power in an isolated Welsh countryside cottage. The aural and visual interpretation of sound in the introduction of writer/director Bryn Chainey’s feature debut, Rabbit Trap, signals an innovative new take on Celtic folk horror ahead. Instead, sound becomes less and less of a focal point as Chainey leans into cryptic Fae folklore and oblique storytelling.

The couple responsible for the opening’s cottage-shaking sensory assault is married couple Darcy (Dev Patel) and Daphne (Rose McEwen). The pair recently purchased the home to further their creative pursuits. Darcy is a sound recordist who spends his days roaming the countryside collecting nature audio with his boom mic. Daphne then uses his recordings to create her niche style of music. But in opening themselves up to listening to the land, they unwittingly become receivers of something otherworldly. Darcy’s recorder picks up strange, unexplainable sounds and whispers, drawing him unaware into a fairy circle. Soon after, a mysterious child (Jade Croot) shows up at their home, drawn to their sound.

Naturally, things only get stranger from there, but those with even passing genre savvy can guess the dilemma that Darcy and Daphne have stumbled into. It’s here where Chainey all but demands a hefty suspension of disbelief. Referred to as a boy, the couple only ask fleetingly for a name but never seem to register that the mysterious child has evaded answering anything about themselves. There’s never an inquiry about where the child lives; vast bucolic landscapes give no indicator of a single neighbor within miles. Croot channels Barry Keoghan, infusing her character with a discomforting eagerness to please and a warm curiosity, and plies the couple with affection, gifts, and knowledge that’s peppered with peculiar, prying questions that should set off alarm bells.

Chainey crafts a beguiling, cryptic voyage that only grows more abstract the further it gets. Rabbit Trap constantly dances around an unspoken rift between Darcy and Daphne, using Darcy’s ongoing night terrors or moments of reflection on Daphne’s career to offer enough kernels for audiences to fill in their own blanks; Chainey refuses to ever provide any concrete answers. Whether that rift is what allows the strange child to insert itself into their lives or simply folk magic, that too remains shrouded behind intentionally vague, mood-driven storytelling. By the film’s conclusion, we’ve still barely learned who any of these characters are.

It’s that constant sense of evasiveness that dulls any tension or atmospheric chills; Rabbit Trap is less folk horror and more beguiling folk tale. While Chainey struggles to elicit any sense of urgency or cohesive narrative, he crafts a handsomely made film shot with primordial beauty. The sound design is as enchanting as the mystical deep woods, washed in vibrant emerald greens. Patel earns easy empathy as the deeply nervous Darcy, the more cautious and broken of the couple. McEwen infuses Daphne with an earthiness that makes her at home in this setting in ways that scare Darcy. All of which highlights the vast potential in this feature debut, just one that perhaps needed more finessing.

As stunning and enchanting as Rabbit Trap can be, atmospherics only go so far in a rather straightforward story that aims to obscure its simplicity through folk horror signifiers, Croot’s cryptic dialogue, and an almost disinterest in its central pair. An off-the-rails third act that only further obfuscates what, exactly, audiences are meant to take away from this journey outside of loosely defined parenting fears. There’s no question that Chainey is a talented filmmaker, but Rabbit Trap gets so caught up in the stunning, poetic details that the larger picture becomes inscrutable and ineffective.

Rabbit Trap made its world premiere at Sundance.

  • Barbarian’s Zach Cregger is rebooting the Resident Evil movies

Multiple studios are reportedly in a bidding war for a film reboot of the Resident Evil movies, THR reports, and it has less to do with the rise of successful video game-based film projects than the guy who’s trying to bring the series back to theaters: Barbarian director Zach Cregger.

Cregger—whose career path we can’t help but think of as being in the Jordan Peele mold, having gone from being a founding member of sketch group The Whitest Kids U’ Know to writing and directing the low-budget horror darling—is currently the belle of the Hollywood ball, apparently, with at least four studios lining up to try to give him their money for this latest film. (It probably helps that Barbarian made roughly ten times its budget in theaters in 2022, and his upcoming film Weapons is reportedly testing well ahead of a release next year.) He’s attached to both write and direct the Resident Evil movie.

The Resident Evil films have always operated in sort of a weird niche, in Hollywood terms. From a certain metric, they’re one of the most successful game-to-movie projects of all time, with Paul W.S. Anderson keeping budgets low and box office returns comfortable for the six movies he made with Milla Jovavich from 2002 to 2017. (The prequel film directed by Johannes Roberts in 2021 flopped, admittedly, but it was released deep into the pandemic lockdowns.) But it’s also a fact that the franchise, despite being one of the biggest horror gaming brands, period, has never gotten what anyone would call a really good horror movie, with Anderson, at best, delivering serviceable and goofy action junk food. Cregger, whose Barbarian possessed a knack for genuinely shocking images and turns and a steadily building sense of tension, might be able to do something actually cool with Capcom’s horror sandbox. Put us down as at least modestly excited.

Barbarian’s Zach Cregger is rebooting the Resident Evil movies

Exciting news for fans of the Resident Evil franchise – Zach Cregger, one half of the comedy duo Barbarian, is set to reboot the popular video game adaptations.

Cregger, known for his work on The Whitest Kids U’ Know and as a writer on The Inbetweeners, is no stranger to comedy and action. With his unique blend of humor and storytelling, he is sure to bring a fresh and exciting take on the beloved Resident Evil series.

While details are still scarce, fans can expect Cregger to inject his signature style into the reboot, offering a new perspective on the classic survival horror storyline. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the games or just looking for a thrilling new cinematic experience, this reboot is sure to be one to watch.

Stay tuned for more updates on Barbarian’s Zach Cregger’s reboot of the Resident Evil movies – it’s bound to be an action-packed adventure unlike anything we’ve seen before.
