  • Chris McKenna Talks Replacing Charles Mesure (Exclusive)

In a surprise move, Chris McKenna has taken over the role of General Hospital’s Jack Brennan from Charles Mesure, who chose to leave the soap.

In a statement to Soap Opera Digest, a representative for GH stated, “Charles Mesure opted to exit the role of Brennan. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors. General Hospital looks forward to continuing Brennan’s exciting storyline with Chris McKenna in the role. “

For McKenna, who got his daytime start as One Life to Live’s Joey Buchanan from 1990-93 then popped up again on The Young and the Restless as Mark Harding from 2014-15, it was a quick hiring process. “I got word late on a Sunday night that Frank Valentini [executive producer, who was also the EP at OLTL] wanted me to chemistry read with Laura Wright [Carly Spencer],” he begins. “I know Laura, but I hadn’t seen her in 30 years, so I said, ‘Well, of course, I’ll be there.’ On Tuesday, I went in, and Laura saw me in the hallway and ran over. We hugged and said hello and we caught up really quick and she wished me luck. The last time I saw her, I think she was the pitcher and I was the catcher at a Make-A-Wish softball game in 1994. So, it was trippy.”

McKenna was a teenager the last time he worked for Valentini, who had to adjust to the fact that he’s now a man. “I’ve run into Frank over the years a couple of times, but he still thinks of me as 14 years old,” notes McKenna. “So, I thought I was finally going to get in front of him and remind him that I’m an adult now [Laughs]. As soon as I finished the read with Laura, which seemed to go pretty darn well, Frank said, ‘You were not this good when you were 12.’ And I said, ‘No s**t!’ ”

McKenna reveals that he had no idea who he had been called in to play when he first arrived at the studio. “They wrote a scene for the audition that was in the spirit of Brennan, but they didn’t use the name,” he explains. “So, it was a unique scene just to get the feel of the character and to see how the chemistry was between Laura and me, and it was great. It was a lot of fun reading with her for the first time in forever.”

McKenna found some other familiar faces on the set as well. “It was crazy,” he marvels. “Some of the writers knew me from One Life to Live when I was a kid and said so. And I said, ‘Well, don’t think of me that way now. I was going through puberty on TV. It’s a whole other thing. I’m a cool spy now.’ Having Frank on set again is great, and one of the cameramen, Bruce, was one of the cameramen on One Life to Live and my favorite guy. I had no idea he was going to be there, and it was so great to see him. One of the directors, Gary Tomlin, was there, so I really felt comfortable right off the bat, and it felt a lot like coming home.”

The last time McKenna was on a soap was in 2016 when he did a brief run as Dr. Hayden on The Bold and the Beautiful. Nevertheless, he wasn’t intimidated by the challenge of stepping into a front-burner tale. “I was excited about it,” he shares. “That’s how I grew up; it’s the first thing I did. The lines and the speed were always easy for me because that’s how I learned. My first day, I had 40 pages to do, and Laura very sweetly wrote me a message and said, ‘Listen, don’t be daunted by the amount of pages. I’ll work with you and Eden [McCoy, Josslyn Jacks] will work with you and we’ll read together and it’ll be great.’ And I wrote her back and said, ‘Not daunted. Looking forward to it. Bring it on.’ And it was great. Y&R moved faster than One Life and GH moves faster than Y&R, but I love it. I’m really comfortable there.”

He’s also enjoying getting to know the ins and outs of his new alter ego. “I’m still learning who the guy is and figuring it out, but it is a lot of fun to get a chance to have a meaty character like this,” McKenna notes. “This is the type of character that I’ve been playing a lot the past decade, but a new version. I don’t usually play the guy in the suit; I’m in a tank top in the jungle, that kind of a CIA agent. So, this is a fun little twist on it, the more Bond-ian guy, if you will. It’s a lot of fun to be able to establish a new version of a character and have a new relationship with Laura and learn what’s in store. Every script is really exciting, so it’s fun.”

In between his soap gigs, McKenna worked steadily on a slew of primetime shows. He credits his daytime experience with helping him succeed in other mediums. “It’s hard to overstate the amount of training that you get doing 100 pages a day, getting new scripts, having a consistent job for years, and learning and getting better,” he declares. “I teach acting classes now, and I tell them how much they can learn on soaps and what a valuable training ground it is and how the actors on soaps are the hardest working actors in this industry and don’t get nearly enough credit.”

His most memorable nighttime gig was the 2014-15 series State of Affairs. “State of Affairs was great,” he recalls. “It had an amazing cast — Katherine Heigl, Alfre Woodard, David Harbour, just to name a few, and I had such a great character. Katherine Heigl had to go to bat for me and we had so much fun. It ended up being only a one-season deal, but that really changed everything for me and my career and the way I was perceived and really ushered in the next chapter where I got to play really cool guys like CIA agents and FBI agents. So, I’ll never forget that.”

    Disney/Bahareh Ritter

He will also never forget the importance that One Life to Live played early in his career. “Growing up on TV was a crazy experience,” he reflects. “And now because I’m having all these memories unlocked going back, I hear Bruce’s voice, I hear Frank’s voice, and I feel like I’m right back there again. I didn’t realize how much I’d remember Laura’s laugh, but when heard it, it was I immediately like, ‘Oh, my God, it’s 1991.’ So I feel like there’s been a time jump, but It was really an amazing time back then and it was so important to my career and my life.”

He even heard from his soap mom when he booked his new role. “Erika Slezak [Viki Buchanan] apparently had just talked to Frank, and he told her that I was on the show, and she squealed and was so excited and she wrote me immediately to congratulate me, which is really great,” McKenna says. “She sends me Christmas cards and we exchange little messages, but that was the longest thing she’s written me, and I feel like we reconnected again because of that, so that was really cool. She’s my second mom. So, it’s really fun being back on daytime again with people who knew me back then and having another run at it.”

  • Casting Exclusive: Charles Mesure Exits GH, Brennan Recast With Chris McKenna

Jack Of All Trades: Charles Mesure’s (l.) run as Brennan has come to an end, with Chris McKenna tapped to replace him.

In arguably the biggest casting shakeup of the soap year thus far, Charles Mesure, who made his General Hospital debut in the role of Jack Brennan on December 1, 2023, has left the show of his own accord. A GH spokesperson confirmed the news to Soap Opera Digest in a statement, saying, “Charles Mesure opted to exit the role of Brennan. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

    Role Reversal

Mesure’s last air date was Thursday, January 30 — and beginning on Tuesday, February 4, the role of Brennan will be played by soap vet Chris McKenna (ex-Joey Buchanan, One Life to Live; ex-Mark Harding, Young and Restless; ex-Dr. Hayden, Bold and Beautiful). Said the GH rep in a statement, “General Hospital looks forward to continuing Brennan’s exciting storyline with Chris McKenna in the role.”

In an interview with Digest last year, Mesure admitted that he had gone into his audition for GH with some trepidation. “I’ll be honest about it, I thought, ‘I’m an old dog. I’m not sure if I can learn any new tricks! I’m not sure if I can adapt to the huge amount of dialogue that these fantastic actors on shows like General Hospital can learn. I’m not sure if I can suddenly be a leading man again at the age of 53!’ ” He explained, “For 28 years, I came from a single camera film background where you can only do eight, nine, 10 pages a day, [while at GH] it’s no secret that they do 10 times that every day!”

His mind was changed, he shared, after meeting GH’s casting director, Mark Teschner, and reading opposite Laura Wright (Carly), who he described as “so superb when I read with her and such a gracious host in the way that she ran that chemistry read. I thought, ‘Oh, I think I really want to work with her!’ ”

At the time of his conversation with Digest, Mesure enthused, “The truth is, I’ve had an absolute ball. I’m really surprised at how much fun this has been because I was so apprehensive about the workload, I was apprehensive about the pressure and the schedule and so forth, but I’ve had an absolute ball every single day I’ve been there.”

Crush Groove: Carly (Laura Wright) and Brennan’s relationship has blossomed in recent weeks.

Mesure’s successor as Brennan, Chris McKenna, began his daytime career at the age of 12, when he was cast on One Life to Live in the role of Joey Buchanan, son of Clint and Viki Buchanan, which he played from 1990-93. As Joey, McKenna was part of the landmark storyline of teen Billy Douglas’s (Ryan Phillippe) coming out. “It was a big deal and remember that fondly,” he told Digest in 2014. In 1993, he earned a Soap Opera Digest Award nomination for Outstanding Child Actor for his portrayal of Joey.

McKenna returned to soaps in 2014 to play murderous detective Mark Harding on Y&R. He beamed to Digest at the time, “It’s been so great to revisit those daytime roots. I was kind of thrown into the fire at Y&R and it could’ve been a potentially nerve-wracking experience for me, but it turned out to be a great experience.” After Harding was killed off in 2015, McKenna briefly popped up on B&B the following year as a therapist who treated Heather Tom’s Katie.

Over the course of his career, McKennas also amassed a wide array of prime-time credits, appearing on shows such as That ’70s Show, Criminal Minds, Chicago Fire, NCIS, NCIS: New Orleans and NCIS: Los Angeles. Between 2011 and 2013, the actor had a seven-episode recurring run on 90210, the reboot of Beverly Hills 90210, in the role of Patrick Westhill.

  • Why Willie Geist Was ‘Shocked’ By Turnout for 1st Live Sunday Sitdown (Exclusive)

    • Sunday Today with Willie Geist will air its first-ever Sunday Sitdown Live on Feb. 2
    • Host Willie Geist interviewed comedian Nate Bargatze in front of a live audience on Jan. 22 at City Winery in New York City
    • “I still am a little bit overwhelmed,” Geist tells PEOPLE exclusively

Sources say Willie Geist is a “natural.” (Sources being his Today colleagues Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Jenna Bush Hager and Dylan Dreyer, that is.)

Backstage at City Winery in New York City on Jan. 22, the ladies of Today — Geist’s honorary “sisters,” as they call themselves — tell PEOPLE that they’re excited for him ahead of the first-ever “Sunday Sitdown Live” interview he’s conducting with comedian Nate Bargatze. (The interview will air on Sunday, Feb. 2.)

“Willie is an incredible interviewer,” says Guthrie. “He’s beloved. He’s adorable. And he has a vision, and he’s executed this vision.”

Geist laughs days later when he learns what his coworkers said about him — and when he’s asked how exactly one gets to be such a natural.

Willie Geist on ‘Sunday Today with Willie Geist’.

    Nathan Congleton

“My dad was in the business. He was a CBS Sunday Morning correspondent, but we never had a formal conversation like, ‘Son, you should get into TV news,’” he tells PEOPLE. “I could tell my dad was having fun, and I saw the product of his work on television every Sunday, which I thought was cool. So, that sunk in somewhere without question, but not because he sat me down and told me I ought to do it.”

In the nearly nine years since the inception of Sunday Today, Geist has conducted more than 500 interviews with countless A-list celebrities (in fact, he’s nabbed Mariska Hargitay, Glenn Close and Cynthia Erivo for conversations in the last month alone).

So, when the idea began cropping up that the team should try and bring the beloved Sunday Sitdown interview to their loyal fanbase, Geist was excited. Sponsor (and venue) City Winery was game. All they’d need was an audience.

Geist’s first-ever Sunday Sitdown Live sold out 500 tickets in under 10 minutes — a feat he admits he “was shocked by,” never mind the fact that people flew to N.Y.C. from all across the country (California! Iowa! Michigan!) for the chance to be in the room.

“I still am a little bit overwhelmed by that. You do a show and you know how many people watch, and that’s a lot of people, but you don’t see them, really,” says Geist. “You interact with them on social media, and then when they’re in the room? I literally was saying to them, ‘Oh, are you in town for work or are you here to see Wicked?’ And they’re like, ‘No, no, I got the ticket for Christmas. We bought plane tickets and a hotel room and we flew here to see you.’ I was so touched by that. It was really beautiful.”

Geist laughs again when told yes, he really was the main attraction.

“Well, Nate wasn’t too bad either,” he says. “He’s got some fans.”

    Nathan Congleton

As a beloved comedian with a skyrocketing career, Bargatze was a natural choice for Sunday Today to kick off a first-of-its-kind event. To Geist’s credit, however, he’s not one for cue cards, and his intimate interviews aren’t the type where he can have teleprompters on stage or following him down a bustling street with a big star in tow, either.

“I try always to just be a hundred percent authentic, and hopefully people who know me would say, ‘He’s the same person on and off TV.’ When I sit down, I want it to actually be a conversation,” he says. “Now, [it’s] one that I’ve prepared for and have a million things to ask and [I] hopefully know where the good subject areas will be, but I just try to really take out as much of the artifice of a TV interview as I can, knowing that there’s still cameras and lights and it makes it a little weird for everybody, but hopefully we can just sit and chat,” he says.

Geist likens the experience to heading to “a bar with a friend, or to dinner,” where he doesn’t have a list of prepared questions he plans to inquire about.

Instead, part of the key to being such a natural actually is to be over prepared, says Geist. It takes work to make something hard look so easy.

“I’ve told my kids this as they get into their teenage years: the thing that neutralizes anxiety, whether you’re interviewing somebody or making a speech or a presentation in class, is preparation. So, I just lean into the preparation because I know if I’ve done the work, then there’s nothing to be anxious about,” says Geist. “I know everything about this person. I know where I hope the interview will go. I’ll be able — if they take it to another direction — to react with more on that area that they want to talk about. Preparation is the anxiety killer.”

Sunday Today airs Sundays at 8 a.m. ET on NBC.

Why Willie Geist Was ‘Shocked’ By Turnout for 1st Live Sunday Sitdown (Exclusive)

Willie Geist, host of NBC’s “Sunday Today with Willie Geist,” recently sat down for his first live Sunday Sitdown event and was blown away by the turnout. The event, which took place at a popular venue in New York City, was filled to capacity with fans eager to hear Geist’s insights and stories.

In an exclusive interview, Geist shared his surprise at the overwhelming support from his fans. “I was truly shocked by the turnout for our first live Sunday Sitdown,” Geist said. “It’s amazing to see how many people are interested in hearing these conversations and getting a behind-the-scenes look at the show.”

Geist’s Sunday Sitdown interviews have become a popular segment on his show, featuring in-depth conversations with celebrities, athletes, and newsmakers. The live event gave fans the opportunity to experience these interviews in person and ask their own questions.

“I’m so grateful for the support of our viewers and fans,” Geist said. “It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do and the impact it can have on people.”

Overall, the success of the first live Sunday Sitdown event has left Geist feeling grateful and excited for future opportunities to connect with his audience in a more personal and engaging way.

  • Tiffany Henyard news: Dolton mayor, Thornton Township supervisor speaks out on investigation into village finances: ABC7 EXCLUSIVE

DOLTON, Ill. (WLS) — Embattled Dolton Mayor and Thornton Township Supervisor Tiffany Henyard spoke exclusively with ABC7 on Friday.

Earlier this week, Henyard was seen rushing into the center of a brawl that broke out during a township board meeting. It’s just the latest development during months of drama and investigations involving her leadership.

Henyard spoke with ABC7 about her critics and the saga surrounding Dolton’s finances.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

The mayor of Dolton has had nothing to say in person about the investigation into village finances, until Friday.

“I understand everyone want me to be the target,” Henyard said. “I understand they want me to be the bad guy for everything that goes on in the village, but that’s not the truth.”

Understand I’m dealing with 30 years of neglect, and being a young mayor, being the first female mayor, I’m under so much scrutiny.

    Tiffany Henyard, Dolton Mayor

Henyard met ABC7 with her attorney to comment on the report. They said Henyard released a statement Tuesday, but it didn’t get much attention.

Henyard said she is being blamed for the actions of others.

“Do everybody know what their employed do?” Henyard said. “I feel a responsibility to tell the truth, that’s what I’m doing.”

On Monday, former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot revealed expenses ballooned during Henyard’s tenure, leading to a deficit of $3.65 million dollars at one point.

READ MORE | Investigation uncovers Dolton Mayor Henyard’s pattern of mismanagement and deception, Lightfoot says

Lightfoot reports anything over $5,000 needed trustee approval, but that protocol wasn’t followed. Instead, the Village was paying off expenses from six credit cards that included few receipts from places like Wayfair and Amazon, and over $40,000 dollars for items for an ice skating rink.

Henyard contends the expenses were approved and that she was not the one making purchases.

“Put the responsibility where it goes,” Henyard said. “I understand everyone wants to beat up the mayor, but it’s people out in place.”

“Lori Lightfoot is not interested in fact but in spectacle political theater that’s going to help her, not the people,” Henyard’s attorney Beau Brindley said.

Mayor Lightfoot’s spokesperson shared a comment, which reads in part: “Mayor Henyard and others systematically withheld the truth from Trustees and the public about the true financial state of the Village… The facts speak for themselves and no amount of spin can overcome the tragic reality of her tenure as Mayor of the Village of Dolton.”

“Understand I’m dealing with 30 years of neglect, and being a young mayor, being the first female mayor, I’m under so much scrutiny,” Henyard said.

A day after the Lightfoot report, social media lit up with videos of a scuffle at a Thornton Township meeting where Henyard is supervisor. Henyard, seen on video, got involved in the chaos.

Her lawyer claims someone from outside of Dolton, who attended the meeting, swung a knife at the mayor’s boyfriend.

“These men are attacking him with a deadly weapon, and the mayor, fearing for his safety, did go toward that crowd, risking get hurt herself,” Brindley said.

Her attorney claims the coverage of the incident unfairly villainizes Henyard.

No one was arrested or charged in the incident this week. Meanwhile, the Dolton board will meet Monday.

After the incident at Thornton Township, Henyard said she will likely not attend Monday’s meeting unless there is more security.

In an exclusive interview with ABC7, Tiffany Henyard, Mayor of Dolton and Thornton Township Supervisor, addressed the ongoing investigation into the village’s finances. Henyard spoke candidly about the allegations of financial mismanagement and corruption that have plagued Dolton in recent months.

Henyard expressed her commitment to transparency and accountability, stating that she is fully cooperating with investigators to get to the bottom of any discrepancies in the village’s finances. She emphasized her dedication to serving the residents of Dolton and ensuring that taxpayer dollars are being used responsibly.

The mayor also discussed her plans for addressing the issues facing the village, including implementing stronger financial controls and oversight measures. Henyard reiterated her commitment to restoring trust and integrity in Dolton’s government.

As the investigation unfolds, residents of Dolton and Thornton Township can rest assured that Mayor Henyard is committed to leading with honesty and integrity. Stay tuned to ABC7 for the latest updates on this developing story.

  • SSU interim president grants exclusive interview to Press Democrat. Here’s a preview.

In her first media appearance since the Jan. 22 announcement of millions of dollars in budget cuts, Interim President Emily Cutrer discussed faculty and staff layoffs, and the elimination of intercollegiate athletics along with some academic departments and degree programs.

Sonoma State University Interim President Emily Cutrer sat down with Press Democrat reporters Friday in her first media appearance since the Jan. 22 announcement of millions of dollars in budget cuts. Those cuts include faculty and staff layoffs and the elimination of intercollegiate athletics, as well as some academic departments and degree programs.

Cutrer expressed compassion for the campus community’s shock, anger and grief but was resolute that the cuts were a last and necessary resort to address SSU’s $24 million deficit.

“A lot of the programs that we will be losing have done everything right in terms of the education,” she said, “But we’re in a financial crisis. And, it’s not just us. We’re on the leading edge of dealing with it, but you’re going to see more or less the same thing going on at different institutions around the nation.”

Cutrer also responded to criticism that SSU leadership has failed to articulate a clear vision for the institution going forward, or strategies to revive enrollment, under the specter of deep cuts and crisis.

She discussed a lack of recruitment and marketing in the past, and a plan to double down on relationships with community colleges and high schools, attract older students and cater academic offerings to the needs of local businesses.

“We need to be out there in the community doing even more than we are right now, which means more and more community partnerships,” she said. “We’ve got some, but we need more.”

Look out for the full interview in the Press Democrat’s Sunday edition in print and online.

You can reach “In Your Corner” Columnist Marisa Endicott at 707-521-5470 or marisa.endicott@pressdemocrat.com. On X (formerly Twitter) @InYourCornerTPD and Facebook @InYourCornerTPD.

Sonoma State University’s interim president, Dr. Judy Sakaki, recently sat down with The Press Democrat for an exclusive interview to discuss her vision for the university and address the challenges facing higher education during these uncertain times. In the interview, Dr. Sakaki touches on her plans for building a more inclusive campus community, her commitment to supporting student success, and the importance of maintaining strong partnerships with the surrounding community. Stay tuned for the full interview, coming soon to The Press Democrat.

  • ‘Magazine Dreams’ trailer reveals long-delayed Jonathan Majors movie (exclusive)

Jonathan Majors plays an amateur bodybuilder who struggles to find human connection in the trailer for Magazine Dreams, the long-delayed drama from writer-director Elijah Bynum.

Entertainment Weekly can share an exclusive first look at the sports drama above, which stars Majors as the isolated and oftentimes volatile Killian Maddox. He dreams of becoming the type of world-famous bodybuilder who graces fitness magazines, pushing himself to the brink in a self-destructive pursuit of greatness. “You have to do something big and important, or no one will remember you when you’re dead,” Killian says in the trailer.

As Killian “battles both the limits of his physical body and his own inner demons,” per the official synopsis, the film mines the “lengths one man will go in his haunting quest for recognition in a world that often overlooks him.”

The film stars Harrison Page as Killian’s ailing veteran grandfather whom he cares for, as well as Haley Bennett, Taylour Paige, and bodybuilder Mike O’Hearn. It premiered to critical acclaim at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival and won its U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award, leading to a bidding war before Searchlight nabbed distribution rights.

But Searchlight dropped the feature, and it remained in limbo for about a year after Majors was convicted in 2023 of domestic assault and harassment against ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, who accused the actor of attacking her in the back of a car in Manhattan. He was given probation and ordered to attend 52 weeks of a domestic violence intervention program. Majors, considered a rising star, was dropped from a number of projects following his conviction, including by Disney and Marvel, after having made his big debut as villain Kang the Conquerer.

Briarcliff Entertainment ultimately acquired Magazine Dreams last year. The film is now slated for a March 21 theatrical release. The company’s most recent release includes the controversial Donald Trump biopic The Apprentice, which just last week earned star Sebastian Stan his first-ever Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of the future president and convicted felon during his younger years.

“Magazine Dreams is a visceral experience that challenges the perceptions of ambition and identity,” said Briarcliff CEO Tom Ortenberg. “Elijah’s film made a well-deserved splash in Sundance, and Briarcliff is looking forward to taking his story to the big screen across the country in early 2025.”

Katy Perry is leaving American Idol in good hands.

After the “Dark Horse” singer announced that season 22 of the singing competition show would be her last in February 2024, fans wondered who would replace her at the judge’s table. Then, in August, Carrie Underwood announced her return to the show — but this time as a judge.

“She was born on that show. I think she knows how to steer it,” Perry — who recently announced her Lifetimes Tour — tells PEOPLE of the “Before He Cheats” singer.

The “Hot N Cold” performer, 40, adds, “She actually truly knows… What it feels like to be in their shoes. We could only metaphorically feel that as judges.”

Underwood won the fourth season of the singing competition show in 2005. Now, 20 years later, she’ll be sitting at the judges table with Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.

“As artists, we’ve been in some sort of their shoes, but she has lived every single day,” the “Firework” singer says. “So I think she’s going to have a lot to offer anyone that’s willing to listen.”

Perry announced her decision to leave the show during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in February 2024. At the time, she explained that it was her time to move on and teased new music on the way.

“I think this probably will be my last show, my last season for Idol. I mean I love Idol so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat, you what I’m saying Jimmy?”

“I love the show so much but I wanna go and see the world and maybe bring new music,” Perry added.

Shortly after her announcement, the “Hello” singer, 75, also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and shared that he wasn’t “mad” about Perry’s decision.

“The reason I love coming on the show with you and the reason I’m doing American Idol is because I have 400 years of stories and a life in the music business. I have things that I’ve done. And so when Katy says, ‘I want to go and create some stories,’ remember, she’s young. But the point is that you have to take some time and actually be an artist,” he said, adding that it “makes sense.”

Meanwhile, in an April 2024 interview on the radio show Taste of Country Nights, Bryan, 48, admitted he “had heard whispers that she was thinking about it — it wasn’t like a huge shock.”

“It’s been a good run with Katy, and she and I have developed a great friendship and to work alongside her,” he said.

He also noted that he and the “Teenage Dream” singer plan to stay in touch after Idol is over. “She knows that no matter what her next endeavors are, that she can pick up the phone and call me and check in and say hey,” Bryan said, adding that she can even come to him for “fishing advice.”
