Now nine years into her career with WWE as a backstage interviewer/occasional panel host, Jackie Redmond has established herself as one of the more significant WWE personalities that hasn’t stepped foot in the ring as a wrestler. But could that change? While uncommon, non-wrestling personalities have been known to lace up the boots from time to time, and during an appearance on the “Lightweights Podcast with Joe Vulpis,” Redmond revealed she did have a wrestling background, having competed as an amateur years ago.
Naturally, this led to Vulpis asking Redmond if there was ever any chance at all of her competing in a wrestling match. But while Redmond revealed that she had dipped her toe in some pro wrestling training in the past, and wouldn’t completely shut the door on the idea, it’s not anything fans should expect from her.
“I ran the ropes one time at Santino Marella’s gym,” Redmond said. “He has a gym outside of Toronto, or he used to…I think he still has it. And I had no idea how hard just running the ropes is, in an actual ring…I left with bruises. I was like ‘What is this?’ You think it just gives, it looks so simple. But anyone, especially anyone with a small frame that has actually run the ropes will tell you it’s, like, painful. Like, Snoop Dogg, I understand why it looked the way it looked when he did it. It’s hard. That s**t is hard. So I don’t think I would ever wrestle. Unless it was a situation that was just too iconic to pass up.”

Jackie Redmond, WWE Interviewer and host of Aftermath on Sportsnet, recently opened up about why she’s unlikely to ever step into the wrestling ring herself.
In a candid interview, Redmond explained that while she has immense respect for the athleticism and dedication of WWE Superstars, she simply doesn’t have the same desire to compete in the ring.
“I have so much admiration for the men and women who put their bodies on the line every time they step into the ring,” Redmond said. “But for me personally, I’ve always been more comfortable in the role of interviewer and host. I love being able to connect with the fans and share the stories of the incredible athletes who make up the WWE roster.”
Redmond also cited her lack of training and experience in the ring as another reason why she’s unlikely to ever pursue a career as a wrestler.
“I have so much respect for the training and dedication that goes into becoming a WWE Superstar,” Redmond said. “I know that it’s not something you can just jump into without proper preparation and experience. And while I love being a part of the WWE family, I know that my strengths lie in a different area.”
Despite her decision to remain on the sidelines, Redmond continues to be a beloved member of the WWE community, bringing her passion and enthusiasm to every interview and segment she hosts.
Fans can catch Redmond on Aftermath on Sportsnet, where she provides expert analysis and insight into all things WWE. While she may not be lacing up her boots anytime soon, Redmond’s contributions to the world of professional wrestling are invaluable and appreciated by fans around the world.

Badosa beat Coco Gauff to reach the last four in Melbourne, overcoming the world number three in straight sets for her best-ever Grand Slam finish.
But Badosa then lost by the same result to world number one Sabalenka, who went on to lose the final to Madison Keys.
The Spaniard failed to capitalise on her momentum at the Abu Dhabi Open, losing her round of 16 meeting with Linda Noskova.

Paula Badosa loves Aryna Sabalenka’s character and personality
A Qatar Open round of 64 tie with Katerina Siniakova is now on the agenda, with top seed Sabalenka earning a bye into the round of 32.
Badosa’s true thoughts on the Belarusian have now become clear, with the former saying of the latter on Tennis For Everyone with Pavel Kisly: “She is a woman with a very big heart, very kind and sweet but what I love the most from her is that she is such a strong character, big personality and a big fighter, so I really like that and I think she inspires me as a strong woman.
“She has been through a lot and she always finds a way. In tough moments I think she even has more strength and more power.
“So knowing her from the inside and outside, on court and off court, she is like a teddy bear but also a tiger so it is a combination that I feel a bit like her. It is very inspiring to see her.”
How many WTA Tour titles do Aryna Sabalenka and Paula Badosa have?
Sabalenka has proven those characteristics time and again, with the 26-year-old boasting 18 WTA Tour titles.
Three of those have come in Grand Slams, with the Belarusian having also lost in two major singles finals over the years.
She will have undoubtedly found it quite tricky to overcome such a close companion in Badosa, but her professionalism came to the fore in Melbourne.
After a stunning 2024 season, Sabalenka would have wanted to clinch a third successive Australian Open title, but Keys had other plans.

The 69-year-old Abbott Elementary actress is opening up about the success of her relationship and their non-traditional living situation.
“I’m very fortunate. The man that I am married to is Senator Vincent Hughes, seventh Senatorial district of Pennsylvania,” Sheryl told People. “You fall in love with somebody and you realize he’s not leaving his career. He’s not leaving Philadelphia. I’m not leaving Hollywood.”

She added, “When you have children, it’s very difficult.” Sheryl shares two adult children with ex-husband Eric Maurice.
“Every two weeks we saw each other, and it has continued to work out well. When I go to see him, I love to see him. When it’s time to leave, ‘Bye-bye. See you soon.’ I’m telling you,…
Sheryl Lee Ralph, the talented actress and singer known for her roles in Broadway and television, recently opened up about her decision to never live with her husband, Pennsylvania State Senator Vincent Hughes.
In an interview with Essence magazine, Ralph explained that she and Hughes have been happily married for over 15 years, but have chosen to maintain separate households. She shared that their unique living arrangement allows them to have their own space and independence while also nurturing their relationship.
Ralph emphasized that living apart does not mean their marriage is lacking in any way. She believes that each person should have their own space to grow and be themselves, and that living separately has actually strengthened their bond.
The actress also mentioned that her husband is very supportive of her career and understands the demands of her work. This mutual respect and understanding have been key factors in their successful marriage.
Ultimately, Ralph’s decision to not live with her husband serves as a reminder that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to relationships. What works for one couple may not work for another, and it’s important to prioritize communication, respect, and understanding in any partnership.

Every entrant in the Royal Rumble match goes in with intent to stake their claim a world championship match at WrestleMania. The goal is the same for all 30 participants, but each entrant may have a different mindset going into the match despite everyone having the same objective. While joining WWE’s “Royal Rumble Kickoff,” Sami Zayn opened up on how he feels going into the 2025 Royal Rumble match.
“Obviously a lot is being made of this Royal Rumble and with good reason,” Zayn said. “Triple H just came out here and said ‘probably the biggest Royal Rumble of all-time.’ 65,000 people in Indianapolis, the most star-studded lineup of any Royal Rumble of all-time, and I find myself getting asked all these questions about my relationship with everybody else in the match.”
The multi-time WWE Intercontinental Champion listed off names like Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Seth Rollins, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Kevin Owens before acknowledging that while he feels he’s in the middle of what seems like a lot of controversy, he instead sees it as momentum.
“I know a thing or two about momentum in this company cause it comes and it goes, and I’ve had it and I’ve lost it and I’ve had it and I’ve lost it,” Zayn said. “I feel like I have the momentum to do something that I’ve never been able to do: win the Royal Rumble.”
Finally, kickoff host Pat McAfee addressed Zayn’s Helluva Kicks to Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes in past weeks that appeared accidental, asking Zayn for clarity.
“Well Pat, it’s one thing to question my actions,” Zayn warned, “but I feel like now you’re questioning my character.”

There’s a lot of things I would love to do, even in regards to the crossover of artistic connection. I would love for The Aswang to wrestle The Demon. I would love for The Aswang to wrestle Shinsuke [Nakamura] as this Ronin samurai. I would love for The Aswang to play a part in the Wyatt Sicks or whatever. There’s a lot of cool things that I think would be fun to do. But we’ll see. We’ll see how it goes. But yes, I would love to do it”

Liberal comedian Bill Maher slammed the political Left’s protection of communist China during the Friday night broadcast of his HBO show “Real Time.”
Maher made the remarks while discussing the growing list of problems that the communist nation is causing the world and the threats that they pose, ranging from hacks to dangerous apps like DeepSeek and TikTok.
“It is kind of an evil empire,” Maher said. “And this kind of gets back to the DEI thing because when you make everything about race, not good!”
“I mean, we couldn’t look into the origins of COVID being from the lab, which now the CIA, this week, has joined the FBI and many other organizations saying it probably did come from a lab,” he continued. “I said it from the beginning. It’s being studied in this lab where it breaks out. Really? We’re gonna even wonder about this?”
He said curiosity about where the pandemic originated from was stifled because organizations like The New York Times “said to even look into that is racist.”
“China’s like the new Islam,” he said. “We can’t be honest about them because they’re not white. And China, okay, I’m sorry, kids, they do some bad things, China. And we should just recognize that.”
Bill Maher laments liberals making everything about race, because they cannot criticize ‘Evil Empires’ who are ‘not white’: Bill Maher: “It is kind of an evil Empire. When you make everything about race, not good. We couldn’t look into the origins of Covid being from a lab. CIA… pic.twitter.com/TSYxpbHyKx
Bill Maher, the outspoken comedian and host of HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher,” recently sparked controversy with his comments comparing China to Islam. During a segment on his show, Maher discussed the growing influence of China on the global stage and likened it to the rise of Islam in the past.
Maher argued that just as Islam has been criticized for its strict adherence to certain beliefs and practices, China too is facing scrutiny for its authoritarian regime and human rights abuses. He pointed to China’s crackdown on dissent, censorship of information, and treatment of ethnic minorities as examples of the country’s oppressive policies.
Maher went on to suggest that China’s economic power and influence are leading to a shift in global dynamics, much like how Islam has shaped world events in the past. He warned that the West must be vigilant in confronting China’s rise and not allow it to dictate the rules of the international order.
While some viewers may have found Maher’s comparison controversial or even offensive, others have praised him for addressing a topic that is often overlooked or downplayed. As China continues to assert itself on the world stage, discussions about its impact and implications are becoming increasingly important.
What are your thoughts on Bill Maher’s comments? Do you agree with his comparison of China to Islam, or do you think it is an unfair analogy? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
If there’s anyone who knows what it’s like to play alongside a superstar playmaker, it’s Josh Green. After spending four seasons running with Luka Doncic in Dallas, Green is now in Charlotte, and he can’t help but see some similarities between his former teammate and Hornets guard LaMelo Ball.
“I think both of them have a high level of patience,” Green told Grant Afseth of RG. “They do a great job of slowing the game down and seeing things develop.”
And, as hard as it is to believe, Green’s got a point. Ball has been putting up tremendous numbers this season — 28.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game while shooting 41.9% from the field.
While Doncic has been dominating the NBA as an MVP contender for years now, Ball is proving he’s got that same elite playmaking ability. According to Green, the key thing that sets them apart is how they control the pace of the game.
“He reads the game so well at a young age,” Green said. “He’s a very fluent, confident guard, and it’s fun to play with him. He plays with supreme confidence, trusts his teammates, and makes the game easier for everyone around him.”
LaMelo Ball’s big season disregarded by All-Star selections
Hornets’ rookie Josh Green recently shared his thoughts on why he believes his teammate LaMelo Ball shares similarities with Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic.
In an interview with ESPN, Green praised Ball’s basketball IQ, playmaking ability, and court vision, which he believes are reminiscent of Doncic’s style of play. “Both Luka and Melo have a unique feel for the game and can make incredible passes that most players wouldn’t even think of,” Green said.
Green also highlighted Ball’s versatility and ability to impact the game in multiple ways, much like Doncic. “They’re both able to score, rebound, and facilitate for their teammates. It’s rare to find players with that kind of all-around skill set,” Green explained.
While Ball and Doncic may have different playing styles and strengths, Green believes that they both possess a certain flair and creativity on the court that sets them apart from their peers. “They have that ‘wow’ factor that makes them so exciting to watch. It’s no surprise that they’re both considered future superstars in the league,” Green added.
With Ball’s impressive rookie season so far, it’s clear that he has the potential to follow in Doncic’s footsteps and become a dominant force in the NBA. As Green continues to learn from both Ball and Doncic, he’s excited to see how their similarities will continue to shine on the court.
Some professional wrestlers will try and wrestle well into the years when they should be thinking about pensions rather than wrestling moves, but not Kurt Angle, as he retired from in-ring action in 2019 at the age of 50.
Angle had a decorated 21-year career, but what led him to hang up the boots for good was his desire to be remembered fondly by the fans, as he explained during an appearance on “Story Time with Dutch Mantell.”
“[WWE] wouldn’t even have me wrestle, they wouldn’t let me wrestle, I think they thought of me as a liability,” Angle said.
He explained that he thought his run was booked backward as he thought he would wrestle, then become a general manager, and finish in the Hall of Fame, which ended up happening the opposite way around.
“They didn’t have any plans to put a title on me, nothing, and I was wrestling extremely well when I got there, but when I got there and I became the GM for nine months, I was inactive for a whole nine months, never got in the ring. When I eventually got in the ring, I wasn’t the same person, I felt like that I look like an old man wrestling in the ring, that’s how bad it was, and that’s why I retired early, because I didn’t want the fans to remember me as this broken down old man,” revealed the Olympic gold medallist.
Angle also believes that the reason he was booked the way he was in WWE during his final run was due to how he originally left the company in 2006. He stated that when someone leaves a company like WWE in the way that he did, the company, and more specifically Vince McMahon, won’t forget that in a hurry.

After years of dominating the wrestling world in both WWE and TNA, Kurt Angle shocked fans by announcing his decision to retire early from the sport. Many were left wondering why the Olympic gold medalist would hang up his boots so soon. In a recent interview, Angle opened up about his decision and explained his reasons for retiring.
The 52-year-old wrestling legend revealed that his body simply couldn’t keep up with the demands of the sport anymore. Years of hard-hitting matches and intense training had taken a toll on his body, leading to a number of injuries that were starting to affect his quality of life. Angle admitted that he was no longer able to perform at the level that he wanted to, and felt that it was time to step away from the ring before things got worse.
Despite his decision to retire, Angle expressed his gratitude for the opportunities that wrestling had given him and the amazing memories he had created throughout his career. He also reassured fans that he would still be involved in the wrestling world in some capacity, whether it be through coaching or mentoring younger talent.
While fans may be disappointed to see Angle retire, it’s clear that he made the decision with his long-term health and well-being in mind. As one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, Kurt Angle will always be remembered for his incredible skills, dedication, and passion for the sport.

The 38th Royal Rumble event is right around the corner and WWE is making its final preparations for what looks to be the biggest Rumble event. WWE legend Booker T believes that the promotion could throw a curveball and have an unexpected winner in the match.
On a recent edition of his “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker T stated that we could be in for a surprise this weekend.
“I really think in the Rumble this year, we’re going to get a totally unexpected win from somebody that you least likely expect to win the Royal Rumble. That’s my prediction, and the reason I say that is because we’re in a different time now. We’re not in … we’re not working under the old regime, this is something totally different now, so I can see having this moment to make that megastar that you were talking about. Who is it going to be? That’s the question,” he said.
At the time of writing, 15 men and 10 women have officially entered the match, but others will have a chance to declare themselves for the match on the January 31 edition of “WWE SmackDown.”

Booker T, WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend, recently sat down for an exclusive interview to discuss his predictions for the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble. In the interview, Booker T shared his thoughts on what he believes will be the “unexpected outcome” of the highly anticipated event.
According to Booker T, he thinks that the 2025 Royal Rumble will see a surprise return from a former WWE superstar who has been out of the spotlight for quite some time. While he didn’t reveal the name of the superstar, Booker T hinted that this return could shake up the entire WWE landscape and potentially lead to some major storylines and rivalries.
“I have a feeling that we’re going to see a familiar face make a shocking return at the 2025 Royal Rumble,” Booker T said. “This superstar has been away from the ring for a while, but I believe they will make a huge impact and leave fans talking for weeks to come.”
Booker T’s prediction has already sparked speculation among wrestling fans, with many speculating on which former WWE superstar could make a surprise return at the Royal Rumble. While nothing is confirmed yet, Booker T’s insight and expertise in the world of wrestling certainly make his prediction one to watch out for.
As the countdown to the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble begins, fans will have to wait and see if Booker T’s prediction comes true and which unexpected outcome will unfold in the ring.
