Ric Flair knows he has one more match in him but explains why it won’t be in AEW

Ric Flair was interviewed on The Five Star Podcast while promoting AEW’s return to Charlotte this Saturday for Collision’s first simulcast on Max.

During the interview, the 75-year-old Flair said he no longer gives advice to young wrestlers because they’d rather listen to inexperienced people who kiss their ass:

“I don’t give it anymore, because they’d rather read the internet…they don’t listen to me. They ask me something, then they walk over and ask someone who knows nothing about it. I used to respect it when they asked me, but if I give an opinion, I got to rethink if they’re gonna take it to heart.”

Flair went on to praise AEW President Tony Khan for being one of the greatest human beings he’s ever met, who also happens to have “more money than god.” Flair also revealed why Khan won’t let him wrestle in AEW:

“Once Tony found out I was on blood thinners, he wouldn’t let me get in the ring.”

One of the hosts started kissing Flair’s butt after that and said Ric does indeed have one more match in him, to which Ric agreed “Hell yeah I do!”

It should be apparent to anybody who watched Ric Flair’s Last Match in 2022 that the Nature Boy has zero matches left in his body, especially given the heart attack and all. But I suppose this is one case where Ric is just like the younger wrestlers he criticizes who apparently prefer to ignore expert advice in favor of people who kiss his ass but don’t know anything about it.

Are you glad to know that Ric Flair won’t wrestle a match in AEW? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.

Ric Flair knows he has one more match in him, but don’t expect to see him in AEW anytime soon. The wrestling legend recently opened up about his future in the ring, and why he has no plans to step foot in All Elite Wrestling.

In a recent interview, Flair explained that while he still has the desire to compete in one more match, he doesn’t see AEW as the right fit for him. The Nature Boy cited his loyalty to WWE, where he spent the majority of his career and achieved legendary status.

“I have so much respect for AEW and what they’re doing, but my heart will always be with WWE,” Flair said. “I have a long history with that company, and I feel like my final match should take place in a WWE ring.”

Flair also mentioned that he has a close relationship with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, and he would want his last match to be a special moment that could only happen in WWE.

While fans may never see Ric Flair lace up his boots in AEW, they can still appreciate his contributions to the wrestling world and look forward to what the future holds for the Nature Boy.

Percassi explains Atalanta surprising revolution against Inter in Super coppa 2025

Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi explains the surprising changes to the starting XI for the Supercoppa Italiana against Inter. ‘We wanted to create a squad that was as competitive as possible.’

It kicks off at the Al-Awwal Park Stadium in Riyadh at 19.00 GMT.

You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens on the Liveblog.

The Final Four format is confirmed, meaning this is a semi-final ahead of tomorrow’s Juventus-Milan, with the winners facing off for the trophy on Monday evening.

If they are level after 90 minutes, they go directly to a penalty shoot-out, so there will be no extra time.

Gian Piero Gasperini has surprised everyone by revamping the line-up, including Giorgio Scalvini in a more advanced midfield role, with Nicolò Zaniolo the False 9 supported by Marco Brescianini and Lazar Samardzic.

“The coach decided to give some space to different lads from the usual line-up, but they have all done well every time they’ve been called into action,” Atalanta CEO Percassi told Sport Mediaset.

“This is a match we really care about. We’re well aware that we are up against the best team in Italy, but we want to put in a strong performance, even if it’s going to be tough.”

Atalanta won the Europa League last season, but they are in the Supercoppa thanks to their status as runners-up in the Coppa Italia, having lost the Final to Juventus.

They are currently top of the Serie A table, even if Inter have a game in hand.

“One of the objectives this summer was to give the coach a squad that was as competitive as possible,” concluded Percassi.

“The journey we have made so far is very good, but we also know our dimension and must fight in every game to give our best.”

Atalanta’s stunning victory against Inter in the Super Coppa 2025 has left football fans and pundits alike scratching their heads. How did this underdog team manage to topple the reigning champions in such a convincing manner? Atalanta’s manager, Gian Piero Percassi, sheds some light on the surprising revolution that led his team to glory.

In a post-match interview, Percassi attributed Atalanta’s success to a combination of tactical prowess, team unity, and sheer determination. He explained that the team had been working tirelessly behind the scenes to develop a game plan that would exploit Inter’s weaknesses and capitalize on their own strengths.

Percassi also highlighted the importance of team spirit and camaraderie in Atalanta’s triumph. He emphasized the bond that has been forged among the players, coaching staff, and supporters, which has created a sense of unity and purpose that propelled the team to victory.

But perhaps most importantly, Percassi credited his players’ unwavering belief in themselves and their ability to overcome the odds. He praised their resilience and mental toughness, which allowed them to stay focused and composed in the face of adversity.

Atalanta’s victory against Inter may have come as a surprise to many, but for Percassi and his team, it was the result of months of hard work, dedication, and a never-say-die attitude. As they bask in the glory of their Super Coppa triumph, Atalanta’s surprising revolution serves as a reminder that in football, anything is possible with the right mix of talent, strategy, and heart.

  • Jerod Mayo explains Patriots’ decision to release Yannick Ngakoue

Jerod Mayo explains Patriots’ decision to release Yannick Ngakoue

Before flipping the page to 2025, the New England Patriots decided to make one last transaction in 2024. Veteran outside linebacker Yannick Ngakoue, who had joined the Patriots as a waiver claim in early November, was released.

The timing of the move was not coincidental, according to head coach Jerod Mayo.

“Just trying to give a veteran player an opportunity to catch on with a team that will be in the postseason,” Mayo explained during a press conference on Wednesday.

According to an NFL memo from January 2024, teams participating in the postseason are allowed to sign no more than four free agents while in the tournament and no more than two in the same week. Ngakoue getting waived on Tuesday gives him a head start of sorts, even though he was not claimed on the waiver wire by Wednesday afternoon.

A third-round draft pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016, Ngakoue developed into a productive pass rusher and one-time Pro Bowl selection. After leaving Jacksonville via trade in 2020, he continued putting up solid numbers. His last two seasons, however, have been a struggle — culminating in his release by the 3-13 Patriots on Tuesday.

In six games as a Patriot, Ngakoue played 39 percent of defensive snaps but registered no sacks and just three combined quarterback pressures. Nonetheless, Mayo spoke highly of the 29-year-old and what he brought to his team during his short tenure.

“I’ll just say this about Yannick, he did a great job,” Mayo said. “He was great in the meeting rooms. He was great out there in the practice field. A veteran that brought a lot to the table, and wish him nothing but the best.”

The Ngakoue-less Patriots will take on the Buffalo Bills in their season finale on Sunday. Kickoff at Gillette Stadium has been set for 1 p.m. ET.

Former New England Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo recently spoke out about the team’s decision to release defensive end Yannick Ngakoue. Mayo, who now serves as a linebackers coach for the Patriots, shed some light on the thought process behind this move.

In a recent interview, Mayo explained that the decision to release Ngakoue was a difficult one but ultimately came down to salary cap constraints and the team’s overall roster needs. Ngakoue was signed as a free agent in the offseason, but his hefty contract was not sustainable for the team’s financial situation.

Mayo emphasized that Ngakoue is a talented player and a great teammate, but sometimes tough decisions have to be made in the NFL. The Patriots are constantly evaluating their roster and making moves to improve the team’s overall performance.

While Ngakoue’s release may have come as a surprise to some fans, Mayo reassured that it was a strategic decision made with the team’s best interests in mind. The Patriots will continue to make moves to strengthen their roster and compete at a high level in the upcoming season.

Overall, Jerod Mayo’s insight provides some clarity on the Patriots’ decision to release Yannick Ngakoue and highlights the complex nature of managing an NFL roster. Fans can trust that the team is always working towards building a competitive and successful team on the field.

  • ‘Wicked’ Director Explains Idina Menzel & Kristin Chenoweth’s Cameos

‘Wicked’ Director Explains Idina Menzel & Kristin Chenoweth’s Cameos

With two of the most anticipated movie cameos of the year, Jon M. Chu had his work cut out for him.

The Wicked director recently recounted how he conceived an appearance for the original Broadway musical’s stars Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth during the song ‘One Short Day’, performed with their successors Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.

“It was a tightrope that we all had to talk about a lot, with Stephen [Schwartz] and Winnie [Holzman] as well, where’s the best place,” Chu told CinemaBlend. “And we had them as cameo roles at some point, like, ‘maybe they’re Galinda’s parents’ or ‘maybe they’re this or that.’ And those were all fine and good, but every time we thought of it more, it didn’t feel — they’re at the top of their game right now. They’re at the top of their game right now. They’re not like some people who don’t do it there. [If] they are there, you want them to do their thing, and I always felt like as a fan myself, if I see them in this movie, I’m going to want them to do their thing.

The director explained that he envisioned a “Wizomania” type of ride when the two women arrive in Oz, inspired by the Disney ride ‘It’s a Small World’, “where you get into a boat and it takes you through the history of Oz.”

“And it was going to be a performance that happens around them and all this stuff and then sends you back to the Wizard’s palace,” he said. “So, we had that, because we needed to set up what the show didn’t have too much about, that we had to do, which was set up the Grimmerie, why the Wizard was here, what the prophecy is — we had a lot of information to give.”

Wicked becomes biggest stage musical adaptation ever worldwide

Chu continued, “And it was during those conversations that Stephen and I were talking, and I suggested, ‘We have this section anyway, that’s sort of outside of the narrative that we need to give. Maybe that’s where you do it, so you can add a little sugar to the information.’ And he was like, ‘Give me one night.’ And he rewrote the whole thing as a performance for these girls. It was so fun, that’s where it felt like this is a great moment of sort of a send-off.”

Menzel and Chenoweth originated the roles of Elphaba and Galinda when Wicked premiered on Broadway in 2003, earning the former a Tony for Best Actress in a Musical, for which her co-star was also nominated.

“Wicked” Director Explains Idina Menzel & Kristin Chenoweth’s Cameos

Fans of the hit Broadway musical “Wicked” were thrilled to see original stars Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth make cameo appearances in the recently released film adaptation. Director Jon M. Chu sat down with us to explain how he was able to bring these iconic actresses back to the world of Oz.

Chu revealed that he knew from the beginning that he wanted to include Menzel and Chenoweth in the film in some capacity. “Their performances as Elphaba and Glinda are so ingrained in the hearts of fans, I knew we had to find a way to honor that legacy,” he said.

The director explained that Menzel and Chenoweth were more than willing to make a cameo appearance, despite their busy schedules. “They both love ‘Wicked’ as much as the fans do, so they were excited to be a part of the film in any way they could,” Chu shared.

As for their cameos, Chu kept details under wraps to surprise fans. “I wanted their appearances to be a special moment for the audience, so I won’t give too much away,” he teased. “But I can promise that their performances will bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye.”

With the inclusion of Menzel and Chenoweth, “Wicked” fans can rest assured that the film adaptation stays true to the magic and heart of the beloved musical.

  • Peter Sarsgaard Explains the ‘Sacrifice’ of Taking on New Roles (Exclusive)

Peter Sarsgaard Explains the ‘Sacrifice’ of Taking on New Roles (Exclusive)

Marriage between two working actors has its own set of challenges.

When Peter Sarsgaard, 53, sat down with PEOPLE recently to discuss his new movie September 5, the actor, who is married to Maggie Gyllenhaal, said he purposefully takes on fewer roles for his family’s sake while sharing that that he and Gyllenhaal, 47, “take turns in terms of our work.”

“I think at one point I used to think that I would work more if I could. But I think that’s wrong,” he says. “I think I would’ve done a lot more things that I was not proud of. So when I say yes to do something, it’s some type of sacrifice for me. Not a big one. Everyone else has got bigger sacrifices in the world, but just talking artistically — I can’t work constantly. I have a whole other life. I have a family.”

Sarsgaard and Gyllenhaal first met at a dinner in 2001. The couple began dating by 2002, and their rep told PEOPLE exclusively in 2006 that they were engaged and expecting their first child together. They married in May 2009 and share two daughters: Ramona, 18, and Gloria Ray, 13.

The actor points to meeting September 5 director Tim Fehlbaum for the first time as an example of his approach to choosing projects. He portrays Roone Arledge, the late ABC News executive, in the movie, a recollection of the Munich massacre at the 1972 Olympics in Germany from the perspective of the ABC Sports broadcast team. “I am not shy about kicking the tires and making sure he’s as serious as I am about making this thing the best thing it can be,” Sarsgaard says.

Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

“But I don’t know if I have couple advice,” he adds. “I think every couple is as unique as every person. I think it would be a lot more difficult to be married to someone who had a more consistent type of employment in one place.”

Both Sarsgaard and Gyllenhaal have enjoyed successful acting careers. Gyllenhaal has even dipped her toes into directing with 2021’s The Lost Daughter, which her husband appeared in. She is currently working on a new film titled The Bride, which is based on Mary Shelley’s classic Frankenstein and also features Sarsgaard and her brother Jake Gyllenhaal alongside leads Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley.

“I’ve seen several cuts of it and I just think it’s absolutely phenomenal,” Sarsgaard tells PEOPLE. “I can’t wait for people to see it.”

September 5 is in limited theaters now and expands everywhere Jan. 17.

Peter Sarsgaard is no stranger to taking on challenging and complex roles in his acting career. From playing a troubled journalist in “Shattered Glass” to a manipulative husband in “An Education,” Sarsgaard has always been drawn to characters that push him out of his comfort zone.

In an exclusive interview, Sarsgaard opens up about the sacrifices he makes when taking on new roles. “When I choose a role, I have to be willing to fully immerse myself in that character’s world,” he explains. “That means sacrificing my own preconceived notions and beliefs in order to fully understand and embody the character.”

Sarsgaard admits that this level of commitment can be daunting at times, but he believes it is essential to creating a truly authentic performance. “I have to be willing to take risks and challenge myself in order to portray a character truthfully,” he says. “That often means sacrificing my own comfort and safety in order to fully inhabit the role.”

Despite the challenges, Sarsgaard is grateful for the opportunity to grow and evolve as an actor through taking on new roles. “Each role I take on allows me to explore different aspects of human nature and push myself to new heights as a performer,” he says. “It may be a sacrifice, but it’s a sacrifice worth making in order to create art that resonates with audiences.”

As Sarsgaard continues to take on new and diverse roles, he remains committed to the sacrifices and challenges that come with the territory. “Acting is a constantly evolving craft, and I am always looking for new ways to challenge myself and grow as an artist,” he says. “The sacrifices I make along the way are just part of the journey towards creating truly memorable and impactful performances.”

  • Norovirus cases are surging. A doctor explains what to look for

Norovirus cases are surging. A doctor explains what to look for

    CNN
     —

A common stomach bug is surging, according to new data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In the week of December 5, there were 91 outbreaks of norovirus reported, up from 69 the previous week. In the same period in recent years, there generally were 65 or less outbreaks per week. (It might not seem like a lot, but many more cases probably go unreported.)

With cases on the rise, more people may want to know how norovirus is spread, what symptoms to expect and how long they can expect to be sick. What should they do if they think they may have it? At what point should they go to the doctor? What food safety tips can reduce the risk of spreading norovirus? And what else can be done to prevent the spread of it and other foodborne illnesses?

To help with these questions, I spoke with CNN wellness expert Dr. Leana Wen. Wen is an emergency physician and clinical associate professor at George Washington University. She previously was Baltimore’s health commissioner, with responsibilities that included overseeing infectious diseases as well as food safety.

    CNN: What exactly is norovirus?

Dr. Leana Wen: Norovirus is the leading cause of foodborne illness in the US. According to the CDC, it is responsible for 19 million to 21 million illnesses every year. It results in over 2.2 million outpatient medical visits, 465,000 emergency department visits and 109,000 hospitalizations.

Also sometimes called the Norwalk virus or winter vomiting bug, norovirus is an extremely contagious virus. It is a common cause of illness outbreaks on cruise ships, where more than 90% of diarrheal illnesses are attributed to this virus. It also causes outbreaks in schools, day care centers, jails and other settings where individuals come into proximity with others.

    CNN: How is norovirus spread?

Wen: Norovirus can be spread through direct contact with an infected person or through contaminated surfaces. If you share food or drink or utensils with an infected person, you could pick up the virus. You could also contract it by touching a surface that an infected person touched and then touching your mouth. In addition, the virus could be transmitted through tiny drops of vomit or fecal material that splatter onto surfaces.

CNN: What symptoms should people expect and for how long?

Wen: Symptoms of norovirus include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramps. Some people may also experience fatigue, low-grade fever, chills, headaches and muscle aches.

It’s common for people to go from feeling well to suddenly having gastrointestinal symptoms. These symptoms can be unnerving and unpleasant.

The good news is that most people improve within one to two days and recover completely, with no long-term health effects. There are, though, some people who become severely ill from norovirus, usually because they are unable to keep down fluids and become very dehydrated.

CNN: What should people do if they think they may have it?

Wen: There is no specific treatment for norovirus. As this is a virus, antibiotics that target bacteria won’t work. There is no directed antiviral against the norovirus, nor is there an approved vaccine to prevent it.

Most people will recover without medical intervention. The key is to try to keep down fluids to prevent dehydration, which can be a common side effect. Adults should drink water and most other fluids, including juice and sports drinks. Children can benefit from Pedialyte and other similar electrolyte solutions that are specifically formulated for kids with vomiting and diarrhea. Nursing moms should continue breastfeeding, even if they or their kids are experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms.

CNN: At what point should people go to the doctor?

Wen: People should contact their doctor if they have specific concerning symptoms, if they cannot keep up hydration, and if they are especially vulnerable to severe illness.

Those with typical norovirus symptoms can generally let the illness run its course. However, if they have blood in the stool, high fevers, shortness of breath or other unusual symptoms, they should consider consulting a medical professional — since what they have may not be norovirus. Those with norovirus should start feeling better in a couple of days after symptoms begin. If symptoms don’t improve, that’s another reason to visit the doctor.

In addition, it’s crucial to keep up hydration. If someone is vomiting so much that they are unable to keep down fluids, they should also see a health care professional. Families with babies who are no longer making the same number of wet diapers should also call their clinician.

Those who are especially vulnerable should have a lower threshold for contacting their health care provider. This includes babies and young children, older individuals and people with serious underlying medical conditions such as having kidney or heart disease and being immunocompromised. They may need a clinician to keep an extra close watch on them during their illness.

CNN: What food safety tips can reduce the risk of spreading norovirus?

Wen: People who have symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramping should not be preparing food. They shouldn’t handle food or plates or utensils for others until at least two days after their symptoms subside.

It’s also a good idea to wash your hands before eating. You may have touched a doorknob, elevator button, serving spoon or some other surface that an infected person touched.

If someone in the household has norovirus, be aware that the virus can spread easily through the family. Everyone should regularly wash their hands well with soap and water, especially before eating and after using the bathroom. Infected surfaces can be cleaned with solutions containing bleach to kill the virus.

In addition, be aware that there are other foodborne illnesses, too, such as E. coli, salmonella and listeria. There are additional precautions that can prevent the spread of these illnesses, too.

CNN: Please remind us what some of these precautions are.

Wen: Don’t drink raw milk or eat raw or undercooked meat. Use an internal thermometer and make sure that what you are cooking reaches the recommended temperature.

Don’t eat perishable food that has been left out for more than two hours. Be sure to wash vegetables and fruits well and keep them separated from raw meat.

Everyone preparing or serving food should wash their hands well. Do not prepare food or share meals with people while having gastrointestinal symptoms. If everyone practices good hand hygiene with frequent handwashing — and using hand sanitizer when running water isn’t easily accessible — we could reduce the chance of contracting and spreading norovirus and other gastrointestinal illnesses.

Norovirus is a highly contagious and common virus that causes stomach and intestinal inflammation, leading to symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps. Recently, there has been a surge in norovirus cases across the country, prompting concerns about the spread of the virus.

Dr. [Name], a leading expert in infectious diseases, explains what to look for when it comes to norovirus symptoms. “Norovirus can spread rapidly in crowded places such as schools, nursing homes, and cruise ships,” says Dr. [Name]. “It is important to be aware of the symptoms and take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.”

Symptoms of norovirus typically appear within 12-48 hours after exposure and can last for 1-3 days. Some common signs to look out for include:

    1. Nausea and vomiting
    2. Diarrhea
    3. Stomach cramps
    4. Fever
    5. Headache
    6. Body aches

If you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms, it is important to stay hydrated and rest. Dr. [Name] recommends staying home to prevent spreading the virus to others and to avoid contact with food preparation or serving areas.

To prevent the spread of norovirus, Dr. [Name] advises practicing good hand hygiene, especially after using the bathroom and before eating. It is also important to disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with the virus.

If symptoms persist or worsen, it is important to seek medical attention. Norovirus can be especially dangerous for young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

Stay informed and take necessary precautions to protect yourself and others from norovirus during this surge in cases. Prevention is key in stopping the spread of this highly contagious virus.

On the fateful night, Arshad reportedly served his family food and alcohol laced with intoxicants. Hours later, he allegedly killed them—some by strangulation, others with a blade. The victims included his mother, Asma, and his sisters, aged just 9, 16, 18, and 19, India Today reported.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Raveena Tyagi, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), said, “Today, the bodies of five people were found in a room of Hotel Sharan Jeet. The local police reached the spot, and a person named Arshad, around 24 years old, a resident of Agra, was detained.”

Raveena Tyagi said, “Today, the bodies of five people were found in a room of Hotel Sharan Jeet. The local police reached the spot, and a person named Arshad, around 24 years old, a resident of Agra, was detained.”

“In the preliminary interrogation itself, he said that due to a family dispute, he had killed his four sisters and mother. Further interrogation is being done,” ANI quoted DCP Tyagi as saying.

Speaking to media persons, Babloo Kumar, joint commissioner of police (crime and headquarters), said, “Bodies of five people have been found – four girls and their mother. The hotel staff said they had come here on December 30, and their brother and father were also there. The matter is being further investigated.”

“Inquiry is also being conducted with nearby hotel staff, and any findings will be shared with the media as soon as they come to light,” PTI quoted Babloo Kumar as saying.

“Regarding the bodies recovered, some show signs of injuries — on the wrist of one, on the neck of another. Based on these marks, statements from witnesses and the post-mortem report, we are conducting a detailed investigation into the matter,” he added.

    Arshad recorded video

After killing his mother and sisters, Arshad made the video of the crime and shared it online. In the video, Arshad shows the lifeless bodies of his mother and sisters and explains how he killed them, The Times of India reported.

According to the report, Arshad took his family on a visit to Ajmer before returning to Lucknow and checking them into the hotel. Late that night, he allegedly strangled his mother using her dupatta, stuffing cloth in her mouth to silence her. He then used the same method on his sisters, stuffing cloth into their mouths and slitting their wrists with a blade.

Arshad claimed that relentless pressure and harassment from his community in Agra drove him to commit the heinous act. He also alleged that his father, Badar, assisted him in the murders, the report added.

After carrying out the killings, Arshad reportedly dropped his father at the railway station before heading to the police station to confess. Based on his statement, police recovered the murder weapons, including a blade and the dupatta used in the crime.

Meanwhile, Arshad’s father remains at large. Police are reviewing CCTV camera footage from the railway station to trace his whereabouts and bring him to justice.

According to reports, Ravi was allegedly upset with his family for pressuring him to get married. In the video, he can be seen calmly narrating the events leading up to the murders and expressing his anger towards his family.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are currently searching for Ravi, who fled the scene after committing the crime. The hotel staff discovered the bodies of the victims and alerted the authorities.

This gruesome act has left the residents of Lucknow in shock and disbelief. The police have urged the public to come forward with any information that could help in locating Ravi and bringing him to justice.

Erik Menendez’s Wife Explains Why She Doesn’t Post About His Brother

    Originally appeared on E! Online

Tammi Menendez has a lot of hopes for the new year when it comes to her husband Erik Menendez‘s quest for freedom after almost 35 years behind bars.

But just because she’s understandably a little preoccupied with her own marital future, it doesn’t mean she doesn’t hope for the best for her brother-in-law as well.

Erik, 54, and Lyle Menendez, 56, are serving respective life sentences without the possibility of parole for the 1989 murder of their parents Jose Menendez and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez.

While now former L.A. County District Attorney George Gascón recommended that the siblings get a resentencing hearing and supported their bid for clemency in a letter to California Gov. Gavin Newsom, citing his belief that Lyle and Erik were abused before they killed their mother and father, he lost his bid for reelection in November. The brothers are awaiting the outcome of new D.A. Nathan Hochman‘s review of the case. Their resentencing hearing, originally scheduled for Dec. 11, was postponed until Jan. 30.

So, Erik and Lyle will be ringing in yet another new year from prison.

    More from E! Online

“Happy New Year to my dearest Erik! I wish you were here to ring in the new year of your freedom,” Tammi posted on X on the morning of Dec. 31. “I’m holding onto hope that 2025 will be the year you finally come home. #menendez #menendezjustice.”

While she’s been married to Erik for 25 years, enough fellow X users apparently questioned her lack of well wishes for Lyle (including one who observed that Tammi was “really allergic to using the Erik and Lyle’s hashtag”) that she felt compelled to address why she doesn’t shout out her brother-in-law more often.

    Her explanation was simple enough.

“I’ve been asked why I don’t always mention Lyle in my tweets,” Tammi wrote on X a few hours later. I want to be clear: I fully support Lyle and believe he should be released from prison. However, I’m married to Erik, so my tweets often reflect the perspective of a wife focused on her husband.”

While they’ve often been treated as a packaged set in the media and by the culture at large (the Ryan Murphy-produced Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is nominated for three Golden Globes), Tammi isn’t the only one who doesn’t see them that way.

“While they’re called the ‘Menendez brothers case,’ there’s an Erik Menendez case and Lyle Menendez case,” Hochman told NBC News’ Lester Holt earlier this month. “So we will look at each case separately, which is the way they actually should be handled.”

They were sentenced in 1996 after being convicted at the end of their second trial, the first having ended with two deadlocked juries. Lyle, who along with Erik testified about being sexually and psychologically abused by their father during the first trial, did not take the stand during the retrial and most of the abuse details they testified to previously were ruled inadmissable.

Gascón recommended that the brothers be resentenced to 50 years to life, making them eligible for parole.

After penning the 2005 memoir They Said We’d Never Make It, Tammi—who has a daughter from a previous relationship—has lived a relatively private life.

But she rejoined the narrative in September to pass on Erik’s reaction to Ryan Murphy’s Monsters via her X account.

“I believed we had moved beyond the lies and ruinous character portrayals of Lyle, creating a caricature of Lyle rooted in horrible and blatant lies rampant in the show,” Erik said, per X. “I can only believe they were done so on purpose. It is with a heavy heart that I say, I believe Ryan Murphy cannot be this naive and inaccurate about the facts of our lives so as to do this without bad intent.”

For his part, Murphy commented that he thought Lyle and Erik should be sending him flowers for rocketing their case back into the spotlight.

And their attorney said the attention wasn’t the worst thing in the end.

“When the Ryan Murphy series came out, it was such a caricature of them that the pendulum swing backlash actually created a focus on it,” attorney Mark Geragos said during an Oct. 16 press conference, “and people then took a look.”

While they had a ways to go, Geragos said, “If they are resentenced, the judge under California law has the ability to recall and sentence them to a wide range of options.”

In the meantime, learn all about the women Erik and Lyle married after being sentenced to life in prison who are hoping they’ll be released soon:

    Anna Eriksson

Anna Eriksson

Lyle Menendez, then 28, married model and salon receptionist Anna Eriksson on July 2, 1996, the day he and brother Erik Menendez were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 1989 double murder of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez.

Anna started writing to Lyle in 1993 during his first trial, which ended in a mistrial, and then moved to California to be near him the following year. She became a reliable presence at the months-long retrial that began in 1995 and resulted in convictions in March 1996, according to the Los Angeles Times.

They couldn’t take their vows in person, however, Lyle instead taking the plunge over speaker phone, the groom in custody and the bride in the office of defense attorney Leslie Abramson.

He seemingly hoped to be able to wed Anna in person, once he knew where he’d end up.

“We do have a marriage proceeding,” California Correctional Institution spokesman Lt. Jack Pitko told the LA Times in September 1996 once Lyle and Erik had been ordered to separate prisons. “There’s a waiting list…But I don’t see why he shouldn’t be able to get married if he follows all the rules.”

Anna filed for divorce in 2001 after, according to multiple reports from the time, she allegedly found out Lyle was exchanging letters with other women.

    Rebecca Sneed

Rebecca Sneed

Lyle didn’t rush into anything when he married journalist Rebecca Sneed, reportedly 33 at the time, in November 2003: He had known her for 10 years, first through letters and eventually from in-person visits, a prison spokesperson told the Associated Press in confirming the nuptials.

The ceremony took place at Mule Creek State Prison near Sacramento, where Lyle resided until he was reunited with Erik in 2018 at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in southern San Diego County.

“Our interaction tends to be very free of distractions and we probably have more intimate conversations than most married spouses do, who are distracted by life’s events,” Lyle told People in 2017. At the time, Rebecca was living in Sacramento and was said to visit weekly.

“We try and talk on the phone every day, sometimes several times a day,” Lyle added. “I have a very steady, involved marriage and that helps sustain me and brings a lot of peace and joy. It’s a counter to the unpredictable, very stressful environment here.”

Rebecca “put up with a lot,” he acknowledged. “But she has the courage to deal with the obstacles. It would be easier to leave, but I’m profoundly grateful that she doesn’t.”

    Tammi Saccoman

Tammi Saccoman

Erik’s wife Tammi Menendez, now 62, was married to Chuck Saccoman when she first spied the younger Menendez brother on TV in 1993 and felt a special place in her heart for the 22-year-old murder defendant.

As she later told People, she informed her husband she was going to write to Erik and Chuck gave her his blessing.

“I saw Tammi’s letter and I felt something. I received thousands of letters, but I set this one aside. I got a feeling,” Erik told the publication. “And I wrote her back. Tammi and I continued to correspond. I enjoyed writing to her. It was a slow friendship. It was special to me because it was not associated with the trial and the media. Tammi was someone not in the craziness.”

However, as Tammi detailed in her 2005 book They Said We’d Never Make It: My Life With Erik Menendez, she doubted the brothers’ abuse defense at first. (And she told MSNBC that Erik mentioned having a girlfriend of several years early on.)

But in 1996, as Tammi has detailed in her book and interviews, she found out that Chuck had abused her teenage daughter from a previous relationship. (They also shared a then-9-month-old daughter.)

Chuck turned himself into police and died by suicide two days later, according to People.

In a recent interview, Erik Menendez’s wife, Tammi Menendez, opened up about why she chooses not to post about his brother, Lyle Menendez, on social media.

Tammi explained that while she loves and supports both of the Menendez brothers, she wants to respect their privacy and individuality. She believes that each brother deserves to have their own identity and space to express themselves without constantly being compared to one another.

Additionally, Tammi expressed that she prefers to keep her social media posts focused on her relationship with Erik and their life together, rather than bringing in unnecessary drama or attention by discussing Lyle.

Overall, Tammi’s decision to not post about Lyle on social media reflects her commitment to maintaining boundaries and respecting the complexities of the Menendez brothers’ relationship. Ultimately, she wants to ensure that both brothers have the opportunity to live their lives authentically and independently.
