  • Gabriel and William Saliba to renew ‘war’ with Erling Haaland as Arsenal face Man City – The Radar | Football News

Welcome to The Radar, a Sky Sports column in which Nick Wright uses a blend of data and opinion to shed light on need-to-know stories from up and down the Premier League. This week:

Gabriel, Saliba and Haaland to do battle
Versatile Gray a bright spot for Spurs
    Iraola’s defensive innovation
A player to watch this weekend

Gabriel, Saliba and Haaland face off again

Erling Haaland telling Mikel Arteta to “stay humble” was the headline-grabbing moment from the fiery exchanges which followed September’s 2-2 draw between Manchester City and Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium. But his battle with Gabriel was where it all started.

Please use Chrome browser for a more accessible video player

Watch how the explosive finale to Man City’s last meeting with Arsenal unfolded

Haaland could be seen throwing the ball into the back of Gabriel’s head after John Stones’ stoppage-time equaliser, with the pair clashing again from the kick-off. On Sunday, live on Sky Sports, they will renew their “war”, as termed by Gabriel, at the Emirates Stadium.

It’s a battle, a war. It’s normal to have provocative acts in football, it’s part of the game. Now this is over and we are waiting for them at our ground

    Gabriel speaking in September

Haaland scored the opener in that last meeting, racing onto Savinho’s pass and finishing coolly. But few centre-back pairings have made life more difficult for him than Gabriel and William Saliba.

His goal in the September game came after three meetings without even a shot on target, including last season’s Community Shield.

Since the start of last season, Haaland has averaged 0.33 goals per 90 minutes against Arsenal compared 0.91 per 90 minutes against other sides. He has taken fewer shots and those he has taken have registered lower on the expected goals scale.

Gabriel and Saliba have shown the capacity to stifle him, in other words, as they have so many others. Arsenal have a superior defensive record to any other Premier League side since the start of the 2022/23 season. The importance of their centre-backs is clear.

Arsenal have conceded an average of only 0.8 goals per game with Gabriel and Saliba starting compared to 1.4 per game without them. The difference in their points per game and win rate is similarly stark, from 2.3 to 1.8 and 73 per cent to 47 per cent respectively.

Even in the context of Arsenal’s difficulties, the pair have been particularly effective this season, limiting opponents to a meagre 0.71 goals per game when starting together, putting them just ahead of Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk on 0.78.

Of course, they know full well just how devastating Haaland can be.

Manchester City’s Haaland-inspired 4-1 thrashing of Arsenal in April 2023 came with Rob Holding deputising for the injured Saliba but both were present for their 3-1 loss two months earlier, in which Haaland also scored. His goal at the Etihad Stadium in September came when he exploited a gap between them.

    Sunday 2nd February 4:00pm

    Kick off 4:30pm

Haaland also comes into this meeting in fine form. After a dip between September and December, he has scored six goals in his last seven games. He will be just as fired up as those tasked with stopping him on Sunday. Expect more fireworks to follow.

    Gray filling holes for Spurs

Micky van de Ven came through Tottenham’s Europa League win over Elfsborg unscathed on his return to action but an injury to Radu Dragusin, his second-half replacement, means there’s little prospect of Archie Gray getting a rest against Brentford on Sunday.

The 18-year-old has started 14 consecutive games for Spurs amid their injury crisis. The fact he has shone so brightly during a dismal run of form for Ange Postecoglou’s side is even more impressive given the number of roles he has been asked to fulfil.

Archie Gray has played in numerous positions for Spurs this season
    Image:
Archie Gray has played in numerous positions for Spurs this season

Gray started as Spurs’ right-sided centre-back against Elfsborg having played at left-back in their previous two games, against Hoffenheim and Leicester. Before that, against Everton, he started in central midfield, having been their left-sided centre-back against Arsenal only a few days earlier.

The circumstances would be demanding enough for a young player even without the positional changes. But Gray has taken it all in his stride, demonstrating extraordinary versatility and emerging from a torrid run for Spurs with his own reputation enhanced.

    Iraola ripping up defensive rulebook

Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth host Liverpool on Saturday having extended their unbeaten run to 11 games with last weekend’s 5-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest. A point off the Champions League spots, they continue to defy the odds, despite a lengthy injury list.

They are doing it with one of the youngest sides in the Premier League this season. But what is really unusual about Bournemouth is that their youthfulness is concentrated in defence.

At centre-back, a position in which experience and knowhow are traditionally deemed crucial, Iraola is using the 22-year-old Illia Zabarnyi and the 19-year-old Dean Huijsen, a pairing roughly six years younger than the Premier League average this season.

Not that you would know it to watch them. The pair have developed an excellent understanding, displaying a level of assuredness to bely their years. Iraola’s side have only lost one of the 12 Premier League games they have started together and kept clean sheets in five.

Iraola’s preference for youth is not limited to his centre-backs. At left-back, there is the 21-year-old Milos Kerkez. At right-back, Julian Araujo, 23, was generally favoured before his injury, with James Hill, also 23, subsequently emerging as second choice when fit.

In Huijsen’s case, it is partly a story of circumstance, with Marcos Senesi unavailable due to injury. But it is also a stylistic choice. Iraola’s commitment to throwing bodies forward in attack demands defenders with the dynamism to cope when the ball is turned over.

“There are probably times when we suffer, experience-wise, because a lot of them are very young,” he explained to Sky Sports in an office at the Vitality Stadium in October. “But they give us the ability to defend big spaces and cope with those situations.”

The club have recruited with Iraola’s high-intensity approach in mind, making youth a priority. “You have to play to your strengths,” added Iraola. “That is why it helps to have a young team with players who can play with high energy, in a high rhythm.”

Carry on like this and it might prove difficult to keep their defensive unit together. Huijsen, a bargain £12.8m signing from Juventus, is sure to attract interest. Kerkez is a reported target for Liverpool.

But don’t expect Iraola to change tack. In fact, in Kerkez’s case, he may already have a successor in place in Julio Soler, the 19-year-old signed from Argentine club Lanus earlier this month. Bournemouth and their head coach continue to do things their own way.

Player Radar: Who else to keep an eye on

Kevin Schade continues to quietly impress for Brentford. The 23-year-old has scored six goals at an average of 0.50 per 90 minutes this season, putting him level with Wolves’ Matheus Cunha and not far behind his team-mate Bryan Mbeumo on 0.61. Spurs beware.

  • Arsenal v Man City: Rivals face each for first time since Erling Haaland’s ‘stay humble’ comment

At his pre-match news conference, Guardiola defended Haaland for his “stay humble” comment.

The words have been used against the Norwegian in the months since as rival fans, revelling in City’s troubled campaign, have turned the focus back on him.

Having seen what Haaland has to put up with on a weekly basis in the Premier League, Guardiola is surprised the 24-year-old doesn’t lose his cool more often.

“For Erling it’s not easy,” said Guardiola. “Arsenal is a physical team, in a good way, in many aspects.

“For 90 minutes, the central defender, Gabriel, push him, hack him, hug him and kiss him. The Premier League is that way.

“You have to stand up and defend your position. And now I am being asked to adjudicate on what Erling has done? I don’t buy it.

“The end of the game was so emotional. In the end, a human being has to react.”

    Haaland’s disciplinary record is remarkable.

The Norwegian has never been sent off as a City player and has been booked just three times in his past 54 Premier League appearances.

“I’m surprised how he controls his emotions” Guardiola said. “In every action, he’s being pulled and the referee plays on.

“How many times does it happen? And he never complains. He behaves incredibly well.”

Arsenal and Manchester City are set to face off in a highly anticipated match, marking the first time the two rivals have met since Erling Haaland’s controversial ‘stay humble’ comment.

The Borussia Dortmund striker made headlines when he urged Arsenal to remain humble after their impressive run of form earlier in the season. His words were seen as a dig at the Gunners and their fans, sparking a war of words between the two clubs.

Now, as Arsenal and Man City prepare to go head-to-head on the pitch, tensions are running high. Both teams will be looking to secure a crucial victory and gain an edge over their rivals in the race for the top spot in the league.

The match promises to be a thrilling encounter, with both sides boasting talented players and a strong desire to come out on top. Will Arsenal be able to prove Haaland wrong and show that they are a force to be reckoned with? Or will Man City continue their dominance and further solidify their position as one of the top teams in the league?

Either way, football fans can expect an exciting and intense battle as these two bitter rivals clash once again. Stay tuned for what promises to be a memorable showdown between Arsenal and Manchester City.

  • The West is seeing Kim Jong Un’s army in action. The North Korean soldiers are brutal zealots undeterred in the face of death.

    • North Korean troops deployed to Russia have proven capable and fierce.

    • Russia is using them in high-cost “human wave” assaults.

    • The conflict is an opportunity for North Korea to learn modern warfare tactics and adapt.

North Korea’s soldiers are relentless, almost fanatical, in the face of death. They’re determined and capable in battle, even in an unfamiliar fight, and their tactics are outdated but brutal.

That is what the West has been learning watching Kim Jong Un’s army in action after Russian President Vladimir Putin called on the North Korean leader to supply fighters for his war on Ukraine.

Pyongyang deployed 11,000 men to Kursk in November disguised as Russian soldiers and carrying fake IDs. These troops are largely special operations forces, meaning they are more ardent in their beliefs and better trained than other units.

Russia has been pushing the North Koreans headlong into bloody assaults. The costs are high, but Kim’s army is learning an important lesson in return: how to fight a modern war.

North Korea sent some of its best soldiers

This war is North Korea’s largest military deployment to a foreign conflict in its almost 80-year history. To determine what the West is learning from this moment, Business Insider spoke to experts who have been closely following North Korea’s performance, examined publicly released intelligence, and reviewed Ukrainians’ observations.

Ukrainian and South Korean intelligence services have said that many of the troops that deployed to Russia are some of Pyongyang’s best, drawn from the 11th Corps, also known as the Storm Corps. The unit is trained in infiltration, infrastructure sabotage, and assassinations.

Ukraine’s top general, Oleksandr Syrsky, has said the North Korean troops are “highly motivated, well-trained,” and “brave.” And the Pentagon said this month that “these are relatively well-disciplined, competent forces” that are by all accounts “capable.”

Some Ukrainian soldiers have relayed their experiences to Western media, describing the troops as fast and nimble, good shots, and seemingly fearless as they rush into battle despite heavy losses. North Korean soldiers have also been found carrying diaries with written dedications to Kim and their country.

“They, as individuals, are more skilled as soldiers, more disciplined as soldiers, more willing to fight as soldiers than some sources had presumed when they were first being sent there,” said Joseph Bermudez, an expert on North Korea’s armed forces at the Center for International and Strategic Studies.

North Korea has a culture driven by a martial philosophy that celebrates hard military power, and it maintains one of the world’s largest standing armies with around 1.2 million soldiers.

The country’s direct entry into the war has complicated the situation for the Ukrainians, particularly in Russia’s Kursk where Ukraine is struggling to hold captured ground. Ukraine has lost roughly half of the territory it once held inside Russia, and the relentless human wave attacks and brutal assaults have worn down Ukraine’s already strained defenses, depriving Kyiv’s forces of time to rest and brace for further attacks.

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said last month that North Korea may be planning to deploy additional forces and military equipment to Russia.

Pyongyang has denied sending troops to Russia, and Kyiv has said Russian and North Korean forces attempt to remove dead North Korean soldiers from the battlefield or even burn the faces of dead North Koreans to make them difficult to identify.

Russia has been sending the North Korean forces into very high-casualty front-line assaults. Biden’s White House said late last month that “it is clear that Russian and North Korean military leaders are treating these troops as expendable and ordering them on hopeless assaults against Ukrainian defenses.”

A White House spokesperson previously described the North Koreans as “highly indoctrinated, pushing attacks even when it is clear that those attacks are futile.”

The Trump administration did not respond to a request for comment on its assessment of North Korean forces fighting in Russia.

Ukraine’s Special Operation Forces said Friday the North Koreans fighting for Russia had not been seen in the Kursk area for around three weeks and had likely been withdrawn due to the heavy combat losses. BI was unable to independently confirm these details.

On the front lines, Ukrainian soldiers have said that the North Koreans are a capable fighting force that is adept at neutralizing drones. The soldiers are ruthlessly tough and determined, relentlessly pushing forward in “human wave” assaults, using fellow soldiers as bait, and casting aside armor for faster infantry movements. And they refuse to surrender, often opting to kill themselves with a grenade or bullet rather than be captured.

This is a defining element of the North Korean special operations training: soldiers are trained to follow orders aggressively, even if they suspect it will cost them their lives. If they disobey orders or fail without sacrifice, their families could suffer the consequences, Bermudez said.

North Korea is learning lessons in modern warfare

North Korean forces have suffered heavy losses fighting for Russia, per Western intelligence. Despite training with Moscow on infantry tactics, flying drones, artillery, and trench-clearing operations, the troops are still new to this war.

The soldiers “have been observed engaging in light infantry operations of a Second World War vintage — one man draws out enemy fire (in this case, drones) to locate a target, and others attempt to neutralize said target,” said Michael Madden, a Stimson Center Korea expert. They have not prepared for a mechanized battlefield like Ukraine’s, filled with armored vehicles and tanks.

“They’ve been trained to fight a war on the Korean Peninsula,” Bermudez said, and while North Korea has watched various armed conflicts closely over the decades, its forces are now getting a real taste for it on a battlefield and in an environment they haven’t been prepping for.

In the short term, that could have devastating consequences for the North Korean forces fighting for the Russians. The Institute for the Study of War think tank assesses that the entire 11,000-man contingent of North Korean forces could be killed or wounded in action by April if the current casualty rate continues. The latest estimates put losses around 4,000.

North Korean flag flies in front of buildings and is seen between branches of trees.

Time will tell how North Korea implements what it’s learned from the Ukraine war.Alexander NEMENOV / AFP

North Korea may consider these sacrifices worth it — if not for the Russian cause, then for what it learns in return.

“It is a dark version of the concept of ‘you learn by doing,’” Madden said, noting that it’s still early. “We will need further incidents and engagements to make more sound observations as to whether they are adjusting their tactics given the state of play in Russia and Ukraine.”

But there is no doubt they’re learning, acquiring knowledge critical for future conflicts that will make North Korea a more challenging combat force in East Asia. They’re seeing the Ukrainian use of US- and Western-provided weapons systems, such as HIMARS and Abrams, for example, and how the Russians have adapted to them.

“They’re bringing these lessons home in the hardest way possible: by bleeding for them,” Bermudez said.

Recently, the Western world has been given a chilling glimpse into the ruthless and unwavering determination of North Korean soldiers under the command of Kim Jong Un. As tensions escalate on the Korean peninsula, the world is witnessing the brutal zealotry of these soldiers who are seemingly undeterred in the face of death.

Videos and images have surfaced showing North Korean soldiers engaging in military drills and exercises, displaying a level of discipline and fanaticism that is both awe-inspiring and terrifying. These soldiers, indoctrinated from a young age in the ways of the regime, exhibit a fervent loyalty to their leader and a willingness to sacrifice themselves in the name of their cause.

The sight of these soldiers, marching in perfect formation and executing military maneuvers with precision, serves as a stark reminder of the threats posed by the regime in Pyongyang. While the West may have long underestimated the capabilities of North Korea’s military, these recent displays of strength have forced a reevaluation of the situation.

As tensions continue to simmer in the region, the world must remain vigilant in the face of this formidable force. The North Korean soldiers, with their unwavering loyalty and brutal zealotry, are a force to be reckoned with – and one that cannot be underestimated.

  • 5 WWE Rivals John Cena Should Face One Last Time

You Don’t Know What You Got ‘Til It’s Gone

This classic Joni Mitchell lyric resonates in pop culture because it is true: Nothing lasts forever. 2025 is the last year we’ll see John Cena competing in a WWE ring. Many fans, despite Cena’s polarising career, will miss the face that runs the place. Yet, physically in the ring, John Cena is not the competitor he once was.

Since transitioning to Hollywood, Cena’s last few bouts have been unmemorable or insignificant. Passing the torch to Austin Theory and Solo Sikoa was a letdown. The reasons go beyond Cena’s control. However, Cena has never been a work-rate wrestler. He’s always had an unpolished streak. Being out of the ring for so long, plus time and age, nature takes its course.

Realistically, the in-ring performance doesn’t matter as much. This final year for Super Cena could easily coast on nostalgia, Cena’s talking prowess, and goodwill. Plus, the overarching story of can Cena win one more world title.

But fans don’t want to see an athlete, like aging music, pretending to be still what they once were. AEW currently has this with Chris Jericho. Both matches and a documentary series have worn away at The Undertaker’s omnipotence and impacted perceptions of his legacy.

Nostalgia has been potent for so long. Nevertheless, utilizing some of Cena’s previous and best opponents could do more than cover up weaknesses. Possibly even help the re-evaluation and appreciation of Cena’s legacy.

    Sheamus

A strange choice, but there are both story and practical reasons.

Over time, fan appreciation and respect for Sheamus has grown. The Celtic Warrior has become a consistent banger merchant during a career Renaissance. Sheamus is more than a safe pair of hands who could pummel Cena in a way that evokes pathos.

Sheamus’ is the Benjamin Button of WWE. It’s like the Irishman’s career has gone backward, peaking at its beginning with two WWE Championship victories and then moving down the card. Who did Sheamus beat for that first world championship? John Cena.

A match or feud with these two could help re-write and re-evaluate both men’s forgettable earlier clashes. Especially given how both men have changed.

Sheamus, as a heel viciously taking over a decade of frustration out of Cena, could end a so-so rivalry with a bruising red-chested banger. Giving Cena a credible win in a grueling contest would allow him to display his never-give-up attitude in a way that would feel earned.

A solid story beat if Cena is going to win another world title. For Sheamus, it would be validation for the character and wrestler.

John Cena and Seth Rollins are foils, yet their careers parallel each other in various ways. Their striking differences in lifestyle, origin, wrestling styles, and personalities. Although similarly, both initially struggled to find their place in the WWE system.

Each took turns as the flagbearer and locker room leader. They defended the company and took insults and mockery for it. Despite their differences, both are good examples of company men.

Unlike Rollins, Cena never changed who he was when he became the world champion. Think of the number of gimmicks, adjustments, and wardrobes Rollins has burned through. Likewise, how many times did Cena have to accept stepping aside for someone else to take the spotlight?

A story of jealousy could result in some cutting promo battles that leave both men looking diamond-sharp. Reexamining their “company guy” personas with a deeper and more personal look would allow The Visionary to emphasize how, during difficult times, he was the guy WWE needed him to be.

In contrast, Cena defending his stability would emphasize his character’s integrity and willpower.

The result in the ring could match or be compared with the pair’s previous ten singles matches, which produced some of Cena’s best work.

    AJ Styles

AJ Styles could return soon. Another round or series between two of the defining wrestlers of the 2000s and 2010s seems like a no-brainer. AJ Styles is one of Cena’s last great opponents. Both men elevated each other in their previous rivalry.

Cena made Styles a WWE stalwart. Styles made Cena rhythmic in-ring. Plus, there is so much story left on the table that’s not been explored.

A story that doesn’t have to rely on their pasts. Like Cena, Styles is getting closer to the end of his career. As another foil and parallel, Styles could stand in Cena’s way of the world championship.

Styles could want the gold for himself to cement his legacy. Such stakes for both men would elevate the world championship’s prestige and could be the heart of their story.

Also, the possibility of a post-match show of mutual respect between the former TNA original and WWE centerpiece would make another historical moment and milestone for both men’s careers.

    Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens cracked the code in WWE. No matter the feud or card position, Owens makes it work. During an era when some heels floundered creatively after fighting John Cena, Owens won gold and remains a utility player with credibility.

He is capable of making any feud or stakes meaningful with his silver tongue and passion.

Owens’s current heel persona doesn’t stand on ceremony and sees through the aura. If there is a wrestler vicious enough to rip through the veneer of hustle, loyalty, and respect and expose Cena as out of his depth, making Cena an actual underdog because wrestling has moved on, and now Cena is a relic of the past, it’s Owens.

In establishing and making fans believe Cena is not the invulnerable, indestructible figure he once was, Owens can do it.

    CM Punk

Even if it’s just in promos rather than in a match, not having CM Punk and John Cena spar again would be a wasted opportunity. Their perfect foils and enemies.

Punk rock vs. conventional jock; alternative individualism vs. mainstream corporate; indy vs. sports entertainment. More recently, company man since his return vs. company man forever.

The latter is a rich vein of jewels that remains within the Punk “you left” narrative. It just needs to be struck at the right angle.

Punk can articulate some fans’ thoughts into a headline. Is this final run a vanity project rather than for the fans? And in return, Cena can point out a perceived hypocrisy.

Why is CM Punk suddenly a company man? Beyond the change of management and culture change, Punk subtly took credit for it. Praising corporate synergy isn’t punk.

While opposites, what joined Punk and Cena is their integrity and beliefs. Yet CM Punk has somewhat become a mascot, something Punk demonized Cena for being. In addition, Cena persisted when the business took him from his body, health, and personal life, and fans hated him. He remained true to himself. If Punk was honest, who’s the real sellout?

It flips the dynamic of their historic feud. With CM Punk playing against the cruel heel, there’s more than nostalgia. As shown from Punk’s feud with Drew McIntyre, although the body weakens, the mind can sharpen. Punk could be the man who makes John Cena’s Superman feel timeless. Make fans want just one more match.

  • Cody Rhodes Is Hesitant To Want To Face John Cena During Retirement Tour

Several people are wanting to face John Cena during his retirement tour this year but Cody Rhodes is hesitant to count himself among them. Rhodes is the current WWE Champion, while Cena is going to be in the Men’s Royal Rumble at tonight’s WWE PLE.

In an interview with TheOneMona (via Fightful), Rhodes explained: “One thing that’s been on my mind, I think when he announced he was retiring, is a lot of guys jumped to the line of, I want to wrestle John. A lot of guys jumped to the, ‘I want to do something with John.’ I’m probably the one who didn’t hold his hand up and that’s simply because John is everything to me and and there’s been so many guys I’m a product of who i took a little something from. The most that I’ve taken from anybody ever would be from John, and that was from driving those few years of them seeing how he did his interactions with fans, how he would do main events, to see how he did the quarterback , the leader all those things. So when i hear this is it, It’s still not fully for me. I don’t love this is it and I know it is. I know he means it when he says it. But I want to watch like a fan. I almost dread the idea of what that would look like. Because when you’re up against John now, you’re tasked to beat John Cena in his final run and that’s why I’m not raising my hand to be in that spot.

Cody Rhodes Is Hesitant To Want To Face John Cena During Retirement Tour

In a recent interview, Cody Rhodes opened up about the idea of facing John Cena during his retirement tour. While many fans would love to see the two wrestling icons go head-to-head one last time, Rhodes expressed some hesitation.

“I have the utmost respect for John Cena and everything he has accomplished in his career,” Rhodes said. “But facing him in the ring during my retirement tour is a daunting task. Cena is a true legend and I want to make sure that I am at my absolute best if I were to step into the ring with him.”

Rhodes went on to explain that he wants to make sure that his final matches are memorable and impactful, and facing Cena would be a huge opportunity to do just that. However, he also wants to ensure that he can give his all in the ring and put on a performance that both he and the fans can be proud of.

While the idea of Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena may be a dream match for many fans, it seems that Rhodes is taking a thoughtful approach to the possibility. Only time will tell if we will see these two superstars collide in the ring once again.

Proactive Planning: How Business Continuity Can Help Your Company Thrive in the Face of Adversity

In today’s fast-paced and unpredictable business environment, it is more important than ever for companies to have a solid plan in place to ensure their survival in the face of adversity. Proactive planning, particularly in the form of business continuity planning, can help companies thrive even when faced with unexpected challenges.

Business continuity planning is the process of creating a strategy to ensure that essential business functions can continue in the event of a disruption. This disruption could be anything from a natural disaster, such as a hurricane or earthquake, to a cyber attack or a pandemic. By proactively planning for these scenarios, companies can minimize downtime, protect their assets, and maintain their reputation.

One of the key benefits of business continuity planning is that it allows companies to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities before they occur. By conducting a thorough risk assessment, companies can pinpoint areas of weakness in their operations and take steps to mitigate these risks. This proactive approach can help companies avoid costly disruptions and maintain their competitive edge in the market.

Another advantage of business continuity planning is that it helps companies build resilience in the face of adversity. By developing a comprehensive plan that outlines how the company will respond to various scenarios, companies can ensure that they are prepared to handle any situation that comes their way. This resilience can give companies a competitive advantage, as they are better equipped to weather storms and emerge stronger on the other side.

Furthermore, business continuity planning can help companies protect their most valuable assets, including their data, equipment, and employees. By implementing measures such as data backups, redundant systems, and emergency communication protocols, companies can safeguard their critical resources and ensure that they can continue to operate even in the face of a crisis.

In conclusion, proactive planning, particularly in the form of business continuity planning, is essential for companies looking to thrive in the face of adversity. By identifying risks, building resilience, and protecting their assets, companies can ensure that they are prepared to handle any challenge that comes their way. Ultimately, investing in business continuity planning is an investment in the long-term success and sustainability of your company.

  • Cougars face a challenge with tournament implications

BYU basketball is on a hot streak. Doesn’t that feel nice to read? Finally, after a shaky opening to the season, the Cougars led by rookie Head Coach Kevin Young are beginning to click, and that point was exemplified flawlessly as they took down a hungry and talented Baylor squad on Tuesday night.

The overtime thriller was adrenaline-pumping for several reasons, not the least of which was Kanon Catchings’ career-high 23-point performance that saw the freshman wing sink every shot attempt that left his fingertips. Kanon really put on a full display of his talents in front of his aunt, Tamika, NBA scouts, and even… Conor McGregor?

Yeah, that wasn’t a typo. Conor McGregor is an official Cougar fan. I bet you didn’t have that on your preseason predictions list.

But now the challenge continues to incline for this BYU basketball bunch as they take their squad to Orlando in a battle with the UCF Knights. The Cougars won in both of their meetings with Central Florida last season, but that doesn’t guarantee a win this year.

There are no easy wins in the Big 12 Conference.

    Unless you’re Houston, I guess.

That traumatic memory aside, let’s stop dwelling on the past and focus on the task at hand: taking down UCF on the road and advancing up the Big 12 standings.

The Cougars are favored to win this matchup after 3 straight victories, but road struggles have defined the early season for these Cougars, losing to both TCU and Utah in an unfamiliar environment. Claiming a win in this meeting with 13-7 UCF would solidify BYU’s status in the conference, and keep the positive vibes flowing.

You’d be a fool to skip out on this one.

  • Sepp Straka, contenders set to face rainy, gusty weather conditions at Pebble Beach

Sepp Straka escaped much of the nasty weather on Friday at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

He likely won’t be so lucky on Saturday.

Straka fired a second straight 7-under 65, this time at Pebble Beach Golf Links, to take a three-shot lead. Straka benefitted from about 14 holes in little to no wind, while other challengers, including Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler, teed off later and spent more time in the tougher conditions.

Now, though, McIlroy and Scheffler are on the better end of the draw. While tournament officials will send the field off split tees and in threesomes, Straka will still tee off at 1:35 p.m. local time, nearly two and a half hours after the first group.

According to the PGA Tour’s official weather bulletin, winds are expected to ramp up around noon, with 14-20 mph sustained and 28 mph gusts forecasted through at least 2 p.m. The 4 p.m. forecast calls for 10-16 mph sustained and 25 mph gusts. There is a 60% chance of rain at noon and 2 p.m., while temperatures are not expected to get into the 60s.

“Just kind of accepting bad shots, that’s where the patience comes in,” said Straka, who also is battling the lingering effects of the flu. “You’re going to get the wind wrong every now and then if it gusts up, and these greens are tiny, so small mistakes can have a big outcome.”

Some players in early groups have already started to make moves, too, including Scheffler, who was 3 under through five holes and 10 under overall, four back of Straka, before Straka teed off.

As the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am gets underway, players like Sepp Straka and other contenders are gearing up to face some challenging weather conditions. The forecast calls for rainy and gusty weather throughout the tournament, adding an extra layer of difficulty to an already tough course.

Sepp Straka, coming off a strong performance at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, will need to rely on his skill and mental toughness to navigate the wet and windy conditions at Pebble Beach. With his accurate ball-striking and solid putting, Straka has the game to contend no matter what the weather throws at him.

Other top contenders, including past champions and major winners, will also be looking to embrace the adverse conditions and use them to their advantage. The unpredictable nature of the weather at Pebble Beach can lead to exciting and unexpected outcomes, making for an exciting tournament for fans to watch.

As players like Sepp Straka and others prepare to battle the elements, they will need to stay focused, patient, and adaptable in order to come out on top. The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am promises to be a true test of skill and resilience, with the weather adding an extra element of drama to an already prestigious event. Stay tuned to see how the players handle the rainy, gusty conditions and who will emerge victorious in the end.
