  • Mass. doctors worry about vaccine hesitancy as skeptic RFK Jr. faces Senate

Massachusetts has some of the highest childhood vaccination rates in the country, but across the state doctors and public health experts said they’re concerned about growing vaccine skepticism and the potential for disease outbreaks.

With Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., an anti-vaccine activist and President Trump’s pick as the nation’s top public health official, facing Senate confirmation hearings this week, some physicians said they worry Kennedy may promote unfounded fears about vaccine safety. And they said eroding vaccination rates could fuel a resurgence of diseases once thought eradicated from the U.S.

“There’s vaccine skepticism across the political spectrum,” said Dr. Paul Sax, clinical director of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. “It’s something that I think is now at a higher rate than any time I can recall in my career.”

The diseases of biggest concern, experts said, are measles, polio and pertussis, or whooping cough. The vast majority of Massachusetts children receive vaccinations to protect them from these illnesses, which can cause lifelong health problems— even death. The shots are required to attend school, although families can request exemptions on religious and other grounds.

Statewide, some 94% of incoming kindergartners were vaccinated in the last school year, according to data from the state public health department.

But the rates vary significantly by community. Statewide, they’ve dipped below levels seen before the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s not a remote issue for us here, even here in Massachusetts, where there is a strong public health imperative and an educated population,” said Dr. Cassandra Pierre, an infectious disease physician and associate hospital epidemiologist at Boston Medical Center. “There are still communities where we have lower vaccination rates.”

If more people forego immunizations because of misinformation, doubts about vaccine safety, renewed debate about vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic, or simply due to fatigue with the idea of getting shots, diseases like these could become a present-day reality, Pierre, Sax and other experts said.

‘The canary in the coal mine’

Measles is one of the diseases doctors and public health officials are closely monitoring. Measles was declared eliminated from the U.S. in 2000, meaning most new cases were contracted by people who traveled outside of the country.

A viral and sometimes deadly illness, measles has no known treatment. The virus spreads through the air when an infected person breathes, sneezes or coughs. Contagious particles can remain present for as long as two hours after an infected person has left a room.

Christina Hermos, a pediatric infectious disease specialist at the Children’s Medical Center at UMass Memorial Medical Center, said she hasn’t seen any cases in the state this year, but a measles outbreak here would signal that vaccination rates are low enough for the disease to spread.

“Measles is always like the canary in the coal mine,” Hermos said, “because measles is so incredibly contagious.”

Data from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show 2024 saw 16 measles outbreaks across the U.S., an increase from four the previous year. A measles case was confirmed in Massachusetts last year — the state’s first since 2020.

Pertussis rates ‘we haven’t seen in decades’

While measles remains rare, Hermos has seen cases of pertussis, or whooping cough, a highly contagious bacterial infection in the lungs characterized by a lingering, aggressive cough.

Children are typically immunized during infancy, and adults may get booster vaccines. Massachusetts reported 841 cases of whopping cough last year, according to the CDC. Nationwide, whooping cough spread to its highest level in a decade last year.

“What we’re seeing now is rates of pertussis that we haven’t seen in decades, and pertussis is a vaccine preventable disease,” Hermos said.

In recent months, Massachusetts public health officials urged residents to look out for the symptoms, including among adolescents, as they tracked higher rates of pertussis.

“We know [vaccination is] safe, we know it’s effective — and families, parents are continuing to get their children vaccinated.”

    Dr. Robbie Goldstein

State Public Health Commissioner Dr. Robbie Goldstein emphasized that vaccines provide strong protection, and most children receive the full course of childhood vaccinations.

“ I think the data are really helpful to remind us all that people here in Massachusetts believe in vaccination,” Goldstein said. “We know it’s safe, we know it’s effective — and families, parents are continuing to get their children vaccinated.”

But Goldstein acknowledged vaccine skepticism is on the rise, and the national childhood vaccination rate has dipped.

He also said counties with lower vaccination rates, especially in the western part of the state, and Cape Cod and the Islands, could weaken herd immunity. State officials are planning a vaccine education program this spring to try to prevent disease outbreaks.

“ I think there’s a potential for additional myths and disinformation to spread over the coming years,” Goldstein said, “and that will make it easier and easier for an outbreak to happen here in Massachusetts and across the country.”

    Could polio make a comeback?

One of the diseases that most worries Pierre, from Boston Medical Center, is polio. Also caused by a virus, polio was considered eradicated in the U.S. in 1979. It had become one of the most feared diseases in the country because it can cause paralysis of parts of the body, or death.

Before the vaccine was introduced in 1955, polio disabled more than 15,000 Americans. There is no known treatment. Over the past decade, there has been only one case in the U.S., reported in New York in 2022.

Pierre said she is concerned about a possible resurgence of polio — and not just among the unvaccinated, but among older adults, especially health care workers, who were vaccinated years ago. Over time, the shots’ protective effects may have waned.

Doctors said health care workers should be educated about the symptoms of diseases like polio, which they may not recognize. And they said if vaccination rates drop, some adults may need boosters.

“A lot of people in the United States that are in their 40s to their 90s are not very well protected anymore against polio because they have not had a booster since they were a kid,” said Dr. David Hamer, professor of global health and medicine at Boston University.

The best protection against outbreaks, Pierre said, is having as many people vaccinated as possible because even a modest decline in rates could cause an outbreak.

“I hate to say this, but it’s somewhat of an eventuality if we continue to see declines in our vaccination rates,” Pierre said. “Could we see large-scale outbreaks in Massachusetts? It doesn’t seem likely at this point, but it is important to know that herd immunity is a function of the community that you’re in.”

Kennedy, Jr. has publicly doubted the effectiveness of the polio vaccine. He has said he would not take away vaccines, but has questioned whether they are as effective and safe as the vast majority of health officials insists.

Like many other experts, Massachusetts health leaders stressed that Kennedy’s claims have been debunked, and primary care doctors should emphasize the importance of vaccines to every patient.

They added that many people don’t remember a time when diseases such as measles and polio were prevalent, so they don’t understand the dangers. They also said officials should be planning to improve surveillance and testing.

Boston University’s Dr. David Hamer, who also works with the Global Infectious Disease Surveillance Network, said officials should consider what to do if an outbreak occurs, and whether they have enough tests and vaccines to immunize children and adults who may need another dose to stay safe.

“Smaller outbreaks, we will have the resources,” Hamer said. “But if we were to have a statewide or national or regional outbreak, we might not be adequately prepared.”

In Massachusetts, doctors are growing increasingly concerned about vaccine hesitancy as prominent skeptic Robert F. Kennedy Jr. faces scrutiny in the Senate. Kennedy, a vocal critic of vaccines and proponent of the anti-vaccine movement, has long been spreading misinformation about the safety and efficacy of vaccines.

With the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing and vaccination efforts ramping up, doctors fear that Kennedy’s influence could further fuel vaccine hesitancy among the public. This could ultimately hinder efforts to achieve widespread immunity and control the spread of the virus.

In light of these concerns, Massachusetts doctors are urging the public to trust in the science behind vaccines and to seek out accurate information from reputable sources. They emphasize the importance of getting vaccinated to protect not only oneself, but also the community at large.

As Kennedy faces scrutiny in the Senate for his anti-vaccine views, it is crucial for individuals to critically evaluate the information they encounter and make informed decisions about their health. Vaccines have been proven to be safe and effective in preventing serious illness and saving lives, and it is essential that we all do our part to help end the pandemic.

  • China’s DeepSeek faces questions over claims after shaking up global tech | Technology News

After causing shockwaves with an AI model with capabilities rivalling the creations of Google and OpenAI, China’s DeepSeek is facing questions about whether its bold claims stand up to scrutiny.

The Hangzhou-based startup’s announcement that it developed R1 at a fraction of the cost of Silicon Valley’s latest models immediately called into question assumptions about the United States’s dominance in AI and the sky-high market valuations of its top tech firms.

Some sceptics, however, have challenged DeepSeek’s account of working on a shoestring budget, suggesting that the firm likely had access to more advanced chips and more funding than it has acknowledged.

“It’s very much an open question whether DeepSeek’s claims can be taken at face value. The AI community will be digging into them and we’ll find out,” Pedro Domingos, professor emeritus of computer science and engineering at the University of Washington, told Al Jazeera.

“It’s plausible to me that they can train a model with $6m,” Domingos added.

“But it’s also quite possible that that’s just the cost of fine-tuning and post-processing models that cost more, that DeepSeek couldn’t have done it without building on more expensive models by others.”

In a research paper released last week, the DeepSeek development team said they had used 2,000 Nvidia H800 GPUs – a less advanced chip originally designed to comply with US export controls – and spent $5.6m to train R1’s foundational model, V3.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has stated that it cost more than $100m to train its chatbot GPT-4, while analysts have estimated that the model used as many as 25,000 more advanced H100 GPUs.

The announcement by DeepSeek, founded in late 2023 by serial entrepreneur Liang Wenfeng, upended the widely held belief that companies seeking to be at the forefront of AI need to invest billions of dollars in data centres and large quantities of costly high-end chips.

It also raised questions about the effectiveness of Washington’s efforts to constrain China’s AI sector by banning exports of the most advanced chips.

Shares of California-based Nvidia, which holds a near-monopoly on the supply of GPUs that power generative AI, on Monday plunged 17 percent, wiping nearly $593bn off the chip giant’s market value – a figure comparable with the gross domestic product (GDP) of Sweden.

While there is broad consensus that DeepSeek’s release of R1 at least represents a significant achievement, some prominent observers have cautioned against taking its claims at face value.

Palmer Luckey, the founder of virtual reality company Oculus VR, on Wednesday labelled DeepSeek’s claimed budget as “bogus” and accused too many “useful idiots” of falling for “Chinese propaganda”.

“It is pushed by a Chinese hedge fund to slow investment in American AI startups, service their own shorts against American titans like Nvidia, and hide sanction evasion,” Luckey said in a post on X.

“America is a fertile bed for psyops like this because our media apparatus hates our technology companies and wants to see President Trump fail.”

In an interview with CNBC last week, Alexandr Wang, CEO of Scale AI, also cast doubt on DeepSeek’s account, saying it was his “understanding” that it had access to 50,000 more advanced H100 chips that it could not talk about due to US export controls.

Wang did not provide evidence for his claim.

    Musk

Tech billionaire Elon Musk, one of US President Donald Trump’s closest confidants, backed DeepSeek’s sceptics, writing “Obviously” on X under a post about Wang’s claim.

DeepSeek did not respond to requests for comment.

But Zihan Wang, a PhD candidate who worked on an earlier DeepSeek model, hit back at the startup’s critics, saying, “Talk is cheap.”

“It’s easy to criticize,” Wang said on X in response to questions from Al Jazeera about the suggestion that DeepSeek’s claims should not be taken at face value.

“If they’d spend more time working on the code and reproduce the DeepSeek idea theirselves it will be better than talking on the paper,” Wang added, using an English translation of a Chinese idiom about people who engage in idle talk.

He did not respond directly to a question about whether he believed DeepSeek had spent less than $6m and used less advanced chips to train R1’s foundational model.

In a 2023 interview with Chinese media outlet Waves, Liang said his company had stockpiled 10,000 of Nvidia’s A100 chips – which are older than the H800 – before the administration of then-US President Joe Biden banned their export.

Users of R1 also point to limitations it faces due to its origins in China, namely its censoring of topics considered sensitive by Beijing, including the 1989 massacre in Tiananmen Square and the status of Taiwan.

In a sign that the initial panic about DeepSeek’s potential impact on the US tech sector had begun to recede, Nvidia’s stock price on Tuesday recovered nearly 9 percent.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 rose 1.59 percent after dropping more than 3 percent the previous day.

Tim Miller, a professor specialising in AI at the University of Queensland, said it was difficult to say how much stock should be put in DeepSeek’s claims.

“The model itself gives away a few details of how it works, but the costs of the main changes that they claim – that I understand – don’t ‘show up’ in the model itself so much,” Miller told Al Jazeera.

Miller said he had not seen any “alarm bells” but there are reasonable arguments both for and against trusting the research paper.

“The breakthrough is incredible – almost a ‘too good to be true’ style. The breakdown of costs is unclear,” Miller said.

On the other hand, he said, breakthroughs do happen occasionally in computer science.

“These massive-scale models are a very recent phenomenon, so efficiencies are bound to be found,” Miller said.

“Given they knew that this would be reasonably straightforward for others to reproduce, they would have known that they would look stupid if they were b*********** everyone. There is a team already committed to trying to reproduce the work.”

    Falling costs

Lucas Hansen, co-founder of the nonprofit CivAI, said while it was difficult to know whether DeepSeek circumvented US export controls, the startup’s claimed training budget referred to V3, which is roughly equivalent to OpenAI’s GPT-4, not R1 itself.

“GPT-4 finished training late 2022. There have been a lot of algorithmic and hardware improvements since 2022, driving down the cost of training a GPT-4 class model. A similar situation happened for GPT-2. At the time it was a serious undertaking to train, but now you can train it for $20 in 90 minutes,” Hansen told Al Jazeera.

“DeepSeek made R1 by taking a base model  – in this case, V3 – and applying some clever methods to teach that base model to think more carefully,” Hansen added.

“This teaching process is comparatively cheap when compared to the price of training the base model. Now that DeepSeek has published details about how to bootstrap a base model into a thinking model, we will see a huge number of new thinking models.”

China’s DeepSeek, a rising tech company, has been making waves in the global tech industry with its innovative products and services. However, questions have started to arise over the company’s claims and practices, raising concerns about the authenticity of its success.

DeepSeek has been lauded for its cutting-edge technology and groundbreaking solutions in various sectors, including artificial intelligence, robotics, and data analytics. The company has managed to attract significant investments and partnerships with leading tech giants, positioning itself as a key player in the industry.

Despite its rapid growth and success, some industry experts have started to question the validity of DeepSeek’s claims. There are concerns about the company’s transparency, as well as its adherence to industry standards and regulations. Additionally, there have been reports of discrepancies in the company’s financial statements, leading to further skepticism about its operations.

As DeepSeek continues to expand its reach and influence in the tech world, these questions raise important considerations for investors, partners, and consumers. It remains to be seen how the company will address these concerns and maintain its reputation in the face of scrutiny.

Stay tuned for more updates on China’s DeepSeek and the evolving landscape of the global tech industry.

Follow this article for live updates as the Billikens host the VCU Rams.

SLU up six with just over a minute to play

1:10, second half: A scuffle in the VCU section has delayed things as the security guards deal with that. A lot of shoving that appears to now be under control. SLU leads 69-63.

SLU inches closer to a huge win

3:58, second half: SLU is on the verge of its biggest win in two years after a foul called on VCU’s Max Shulga entering that TV timeout. The Billikens are still up 60-53.

VCU has missed eight straight shots and hasn’t scored in nearly four minutes.

Gibson Jimerson has 11 points in the second half and 21 for the game.

7:59, second half: After VCU’s Zeb Jackson scored five straight points to give the Rams the lead, Gibson Jimerson drew Jackson’s fourth foul and scored on the play to regain SLU’s edge.

Robbie Avila is driving the ball far more aggressively this half. He has seven points in the half and 12 for the game.

This is easily the best game at Chaifetz Arena this season.

Dylan Warlick, SLU battling, up 45-42

11:39, second half: Dylan Warlick is playing some good minutes in relief of Kalu Anya, who has three fouls. Warlick also has three.

Warlick just grabbed an offensive board and drew a foul. SLU is up 45-42.

Warlick’s scrappy play is also igniting the crowd. He was pressed into service partway into the season due to injuries.

SLU hanging around in a physical game

15:36, second half: Gibson Jimerson’s jumper cut the deficit to three just after Phillip Russell hit a 3-pointer to give the Rams their biggest lead of the game.

Three SLU starters, Swope, Avila and Anya, have two fouls.

VCU up 31-28 at halftime after strong finish

Halftime: Kobe Johnson missed an open 3-pointer just before the halftime buzzer, and SLU trails going into the locker room.

SLU has missed five of its last six shots.

Gibson Jimerson leads SLU with 10 followed by Johnson with nine. Isaiah Swope (two points) and Robbie Avila (five points) have been relatively quiet.

Zeb Jackson and Phillip Russell each have eight to lead VCU.

VCU has nine offensive rebounds to SLU’s zero and a 10-0 edge in second-chance points.

VCU heats up, takes 27-23 lead

2:39, first half: VCU hit its second 3-pointer of the game, by Zeb Jackson, and the Rams lead this physical game. The Rams are 2-of-14 from 3-point range.

SLU’s Robbie Avila picked up his first three points, a basket and foul off a nice under-the-basket assist from Kalu Anya.

Isaiah Swope picked up his second foul, joining teammate Dylan Warlick and VCU’s Zeb Jackson with two.

SLU maintains one-point edge in a sloppy stretch

7:42, first half: SLU’s offense has started to sputter a bit, but VCU hasn’t been able to capitalize and the Billikens lead 18-17. At one point in that stretch, VCU missed five straight shots. SLU is up to four turnovers on the game.

SLU coach Josh Schertz is going to his bench a bit more than usual, with Warlick, Pikaar and McCottry all seeing several minutes.

SLU up 16-13 as Gibson Jimerson, Kobe Johnson lead the way

11:45, first half: Gibson Jimerson just finished off a driving layup and drew the foul to give SLU a three-point lead. He’ll have a free throw after the TV timeout.

Jimerson has five and Kobe Johnson seven. Johnson is driving with confidence.

VCU has two offensive rebounds and SLU has one turnover, two areas of concern entering the game.

SLU leads 8-6 early on the strength of 3-point shooting

15:56, first half: SLU has hit its first two 3-point tries, a good sign for a team that’s been slumping from 3. Gibson Jimerson and Kobe Johnson hit the two treys.

  • Jake Paul jumps from Netflix to HBO, faces Logan in Brother vs. Brother Boxing match

Jake Paul knows everything there is to know about his next opponent, apparently.

From influencers to UFC stars to retired Heavyweight Champion Mike Tyson, Paul is now expected to fight his older brother Logan this spring.

The Paul brothers got their start on YouTube, the influencers making millions from the success of their channels, branching out into the world on two different but similar paths. Logan and Jake stepped into the boxing ring for the first time in 2018, Jake taking the sport more seriously between the two with a pro record of 11-1, compared to Logan’s 1-1 (plus an exhibition bout vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.).

Jake’s long been criticized for competing against fighters much older than him, but that narrative is out the window in what looks to be a boxing match against Logan, the WWE star one year his elder.

“The moment you’ve waited a decade for… March 27th on [Max],” both Paul brothers announced on their X accounts.

Max, HBO’s widely-popular streaming service, seemingly confirmed the matchup by retweeting the brothers’ posts on its official account.

It is unknown at this time what sport or ruleset the Paul brothers will compete in, though all signs would point to a boxing match given how Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson performed for Netflix as the most-streamed sporting event ever.

Many had predicted other streaming services would follow suit with Netflix’s strategy, booking a fight of massive appeal with millions of fans to watch worldwide. And for Max, brother vs. brother does just that, marking a potential return to boxing for HBO.

Max has over 100M+ subscribers worldwide.

No other details have been announced besides the date and streaming partner, and the location is still to be revealed for what is another unprecendented bout for the Paul brothers.

Logan Paul (1-1) is coming off a disqualification win over BJJ star Dillon Danis in October 2023, while Jake is riding a five-fight win streak with victories over Mike Tyson, Mike Perry, and Nate Diaz.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the match, which is sure to be filled with drama and excitement. Will Jake be able to continue his winning streak, or will Logan come out on top in this epic battle of brothers?

Netflix fans have been given a disappointing update over the release of the second season of a ‘curse-breaking’ TV show.

One Piece – a live-action adaptation of a Japanese anime series – landed on the streamer to great critical acclaim in 2023 and was described as ‘perfect’ by viewers.

Watched 71,600,000 times, the eight-parter follows Captain Monkey D. Luffy, played by Iñaki Godoy, and his crew of straw hat pirates.

The group spend their time hunting for mythical treasure across the ocean, as if they find it then he’ll become the best pirate of all time.

Since season one, fans have been eagerly anticipating its follow-up; however, Netflix has not entirely determined its release date.

According to What’s On Netflix, the streamer accidentally leaked that it would arrive in 2025 on its website Tudum.

An archived website page mentions that One Piece lego sets ‘bring you treasures you can cherish while you wait for new episodes of One Piece, which arrive later this year.’

That would mean at least a two-year wait for One Piece fans between seasons.

In a further blow, Garp actor Vincent Regan previously implied season two would return at Christmas.

After binging season one in 2023, fans raved about One Piece with @Bolt_Otsutsuki said: ‘I need season 2, this is by far the best live action anime show ever One Piece really broke the curse… if you haven’t watch the One Piece live action show yet Oh boy you missing out.’

@GeorgeAlexClark added: ‘I’ve got no history with #OnePiece so when I say that I’m loving this, I truly mean it! Episode 1 is great, I don’t know anything about this world, but I’m having such a fun time and the characters are excellent. Can’t wait to watch more!’

Becky continued: ‘We’re over 1,080 chapters at this point in the manga. We have plans with Matt Owens for how we would break multiple seasons, and I think even if we did six seasons, we would probably only use up half of the chapters of the manga. It really could go on and on and on.’

Production for One Piece season two is reportedly continuing in South Africa and is due to wrap at the end of the month.

One Piece is available to stream on Netflix.

The highly anticipated Netflix TV series “Perfect” is facing a huge blow after it was revealed that the show has been watched a staggering 71,600,000 times since its release. Despite the impressive viewership numbers, the show has been met with mixed reviews from both critics and audiences.

Many viewers have criticized the show for its lackluster plot and character development, with some even going as far as to call it “boring” and “predictable.” The show, which follows the lives of a group of young adults navigating love, friendship, and success in a bustling city, has failed to live up to the hype surrounding its release.

The creators of “Perfect” are now faced with the daunting task of regaining the trust and interest of viewers as they work on future seasons of the show. With such a large audience already tuning in, the pressure is on to deliver a more engaging and compelling storyline that will keep viewers coming back for more.

Only time will tell if “Perfect” can overcome this setback and emerge as a truly successful and beloved Netflix series. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

  • Trump’s Suit Against Pulitzer Board Faces a Hurdle: His Previous Arguments

Litigation has long been one of President Trump’s favorite weapons against media outlets whose coverage he objects to. But in at least one case, he is encountering an unforeseen obstacle: his previous arguments in court.

On Monday, the board that awards the Pulitzer Prizes — which Mr. Trump sued in Florida in 2022 for defamation — said that the case should be put on hold because, as Mr. Trump has argued in two other cases, a state court should not be permitted to exert control over a sitting president.

“Defendants agree,” wrote the law firm representing the board, Ballard Spahr. “To avoid such constitutional conflicts, the court should stay this case until plaintiff’s term in office has concluded.”

Mr. Trump’s lawsuit accuses the Pulitzer board of defaming him, in essence, by continuing to honor The New York Times and The Washington Post for their coverage of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. A state judge in Florida last year cleared the case to proceed toward trial.

The Pulitzer board’s filing on Monday leaned heavily on statements the president’s legal team had made in other cases. One involved a suit filed in 2017 by Summer Zervos, a former contestant on “The Apprentice” reality show, who accused the president of unwanted sexual advances. Mr. Trump’s team argued that her suit should be thrown out or delayed because dealing with it — including by producing records during discovery or being forced to appear in court — would “disrupt and impair” Mr. Trump’s ability to do his job. (The suit was settled in 2021, after he was out of office.)

Mr. Trump’s lawyers repeated that argument last week in a different case in Delaware, in which he and his social media company are defendants.

    R. Quincy Bird, a lawyer for Mr. Trump in the Pulitzer case, did not respond to a request for comment.

The Pulitzer board’s filing on Monday was the second time since the November election that Mr. Trump’s opponents in defamation lawsuits have sought to turn his arguments in other cases against him.

The previous time came last month, and it involved a different set of legal issues than those at play in the Pulitzer suit.

Mr. Trump is being sued for defamation by the men known as the Central Park Five, who were wrongly convicted and later exonerated in the rape and assault of a jogger in 1989, but whom Mr. Trump described as killers during the presidential debate last September.

Mr. Trump sought to have that lawsuit dismissed, arguing that his comments in the debate were largely true.

Last month, Shanin Specter, the lead lawyer for the five men, argued that was a matter for a jury to decide.

To support this reasoning, Mr. Specter pointed to Mr. Trump’s line of argument in a defamation lawsuit he brought against ABC News and the anchor George Stephanopoulos. When ABC noted that Mr. Stephanopoulos had been largely correct in saying Mr. Trump had been found liable for rape — in fact, he had been found liable for sexual abuse — Mr. Trump’s lawyers successfully argued that should be left to a jury.

The case was moving toward trial when ABC agreed to pay $15 million to settle the lawsuit last month.

Former President Donald Trump’s lawsuit against the Pulitzer Board may face a significant hurdle due to his previous arguments against the prestigious journalism award.

In the past, Trump has dismissed the Pulitzer Prize as biased and unfair, claiming that the awards are given out based on political ideology rather than merit. He has also criticized journalists who have won Pulitzer Prizes, questioning their credibility and integrity.

Now, Trump is seeking to sue the Pulitzer Board for not awarding him a Pulitzer Prize for his own work as a journalist. However, his previous statements and attacks on the Pulitzer Prize may undermine his case, as they could be used to argue that he does not actually value or respect the award.

This apparent inconsistency in Trump’s position could make it difficult for him to successfully argue that he is entitled to a Pulitzer Prize and that the Board’s decision was unjust. It remains to be seen how this contradiction will impact the outcome of his lawsuit.

  • OnlyFans star, planning to sleep with 1,000 men in a day, faces deportation threat in US

Lily Phillips, a 23-year-old British model, revealed that she initially planned to film her controversial stunt of having sex with 1,000 men in a day on American soil, which led to her facing deportation threats.

Lily Phillips, a 23-year-old British model

She shared that she was warned about being removed from the country if she followed through with the bold act. Additionally, she faced scrutiny from US border officials, who questioned whether she was involved in prostitution.

Speaking on the Plug Talk podcast, the OnlyFans star said her stunt “almost got her banned from the US.” For context, OnlyFans is a subscription-based platform that allows creators to share exclusive content with their subscribers.

    Here’s what Lily Phillips said

In a clip from the Plug Talk podcast shared on X by “@RT_com,” host Lena Nersesian said, “She just came in last night. Had a hard time coming in.”

Lily Philips confirmed that she was stopped by officers at LAX and questioned about her X-rated career and the purpose of her visit to the United States.

Lily, who previously admitted she “doesn’t know what self-respect is,” claimed: “They were asking if I was a prostitute.” She joked in response, “Depends who’s asking.”

She further explained, “I was very much, like, ‘Yeah, I f*** all these guys but they don’t pay a penny, so it’s not prostitution technically’.”

The controversial OnlyFans star, criticised as “bizarre” by another model, stated: “I just f*** a lot of guys.”

Additionally, she revealed, “I was meant to do it here, but I got quite a lot of advice saying, ‘you will be deported if you do it here’.”

    Lily’s previous sex-stunts

Lily, who recently broke down in a documentary by filmmaker Joshua Pieters, rose to instant fame after sleeping with 101 men in 24 hours, The Sun reported.

The influencer, who previously revealed she had received death threats and faced a potential ban from Airbnb for using a rental for a sexual stunt without the owner’s consent, shared that she first joined OnlyFans at the age of 19.

At the time, she was a micro-influencer with 16,000 Instagram followers but grew tired of posting fashion content and decided to shift her career to the adult industry.

After joining OnlyFans in 2020, Lily, who now boasts 712,000 followers and stunned many when she encouraged women to “send husbands and boyfriends” to help her reach her goal of sleeping with 1,000 men, recalled: “I tried to sign up when I was 17, with my provisional ID and it didn’t go through.”

Recently, an OnlyFans star made headlines for her controversial plan to sleep with 1,000 men in a single day. The adult entertainer, who goes by the username “SeductiveSiren,” announced her ambitious goal on social media, promising fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the marathon event.

However, SeductiveSiren’s plans have hit a major roadblock as she now faces a deportation threat in the US. Immigration authorities have cited concerns over her proposed activities and deemed them inappropriate for a visa holder.

The news has sparked a heated debate online, with some supporting SeductiveSiren’s right to express her sexuality and others condemning her for promoting risky behavior. Despite the backlash, the OnlyFans star remains defiant and determined to go through with her record-breaking attempt.

As the controversy continues to unfold, many are left wondering what the future holds for SeductiveSiren and whether she will be able to carry out her provocative plan. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

  • Ryan Reynolds faces renewed scrutiny over alleged behavior as Blake Lively battles legal drama with Justin Baldoni

Ryan Reynolds faces renewed scrutiny over alleged behavior as Blake Lively battles legal drama with Justin Baldoni

Ryan Reynolds, celebrated for his portrayal of the anti hero Deadpool, finds himself in the public eye once again after past claims by his Deadpool co-star TJ Miller were brought back into the spotlight. The resurfaced allegations come amid an escalating legal battle involving Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, and filmmaker Justin Baldoni.
In 2022, during an episode of The Adam Carolla Show, TJ Miller accused Reynolds of being “horrifically mean” to him on the set of Deadpool. Recalling an incident, Miller claimed Reynolds, while in character, told him, “You know what’s great about you, Weasel? You’re not the star, but you do just enough exposition that it’s funny, and then we can leave and get back to the real movie.” While Miller described the interaction as “weird,” he maintained there was no lingering animosity but admitted he would not work with Reynolds again. Later, Miller revealed Reynolds had reached out via email to clarify the misunderstanding, insisting their relationship was amicable.
These comments have resurfaced amid a separate controversy involving Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, the director of It Ends With Us. Blake Lively has accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and fostering a “hostile work environment” during the film’s production. Baldoni, however, has denied the allegations and countered with a $400 million defamation lawsuit against Blake Lively, Reynolds, and her publicist, Leslie Soane.
Baldoni’s lawsuit claims Blake Lively took over the creative process and alleges she forced him and his family to stay in a basement holding area during the film’s premiere. In contrast, Lively’s legal team dismissed Baldoni’s lawsuit as a classic example of DARVO (Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender), stating, Reportedly the evidence will show that Sony asked Ms. Blake Lively to oversee Sony’s cut of the film, which they then selected for distribution, and it was a magnificent success.

Ryan Reynolds, known for his charming and witty persona, is facing renewed scrutiny over alleged behavior as his wife, Blake Lively, battles legal drama with actor Justin Baldoni.

The allegations against Reynolds come at a time when Hollywood is reckoning with issues of toxic masculinity and inappropriate behavior. While details of the allegations are still emerging, they have cast a shadow over the actor’s public image.

Meanwhile, Lively is embroiled in a legal battle with Baldoni over a contract dispute, adding further stress to the couple’s already tumultuous situation.

As fans and industry insiders alike watch the drama unfold, many are wondering how Reynolds and Lively will navigate these challenges and whether their relationship will withstand the pressure.
