Meet Paradise star James Marsden’s famous model son Jack
James Marsden is a proud father of three. The actor – who currently stars in the Hulu hit Paradise – welcomed a son, Jack, 24, and daughter, Mary, 19, with his ex-wife, Lisa Linde. He is also a devoted dad to William, now 10, whom he shares with his former partner, Rose Costa.
While James’ younger children tend to keep a low profile these days, his eldest, Jack, has emerged as a rising star after making his Dolce & Gabbana debut at the age of 16. On hand to support his son, James, 51, was spotted sitting in the front row as Jack walked the runway in 2018. Sharing a photo of the teen, he noted that he “could not be more proud” of Jack.
Echoing this sentiment in an interview with Men’s Health, James raved: “Is it weird to say my son is the person I wish I was more like?”
“He’s 16 and figuring out his world and who he is and what his strengths are and what his passions are and what he wants to do,” James continued. “This is something that we’re just sort of testing out. … It would have been crazy for me at 16, but nowadays, this is when people start. It’s nuts. But we’re supporting him.”
In the years that have followed, Jack has expanded his horizons, and according to his Instagram bio, works as a producer and musician while running his own at-home recording studio. Appearing on-screen, fans also watched as Jack joined his dad in a 2021 episode of Celebrity IOU Joyride.
Jack isn’t someone who frequently posts on social media, but he has made several red carpet appearances alongside his famous father. Most recently, the 24-year-old joined his dad at The 29th Annual Critics Choice Awards in 2024. Prior to that, he reunited with James for the LA premiere of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (2022).
On the occasions that he does use social media, Jack has shed some light on his sweet bond with James. To mark the A-lister’s birthday in 2023, the former model shared a photo of himself and his sister, Mary, cuddled up with their father.

What that’s caused is a great fortune in a business that’s been very good to me, but a lot of time away – a lot of time traveling, a lot of time working. I feel like, nowadays, I want to really make sure that I insert value in my time, more than just on the work level.”

Shawn Simpson, a former hockey player, NHL executive, and TSN 1200 broadcaster, has passed away at the age of 56. His death was announced on TSN 1200 by John Rodenburg, who expressed the deep impact of the loss on staff, listeners, and the wider community. “We know that when you work on the radio, especially if you are a regular listener, you’re always considered to be family,” Rodenburg said. “When you lose a member of your family, it shocks, especially when it comes as it has.” The cause of Simpson’s death has not been made public. However, he had been very open in the past with his struggles with his mental health.
Born in Ottawa, Simpson’s hockey career began in the Ontario Hockey League with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and Oshawa Generals. He was selected by the Washington Capitals in the third round of the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. That same year, he represented Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship. Simpson played in the American Hockey League with the Baltimore Skipjacks before transitioning to roles in NHL front offices, including with the Washington Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Simpson’s career took another turn when he joined TSN 1200 in January 2012. Over more than a decade, he became a beloved voice in Ottawa’s sports media landscape, known for his passion, wit, and openness. The Ottawa Senators paid tribute to Simpson on social media, calling him a “lionhearted member of the Sens media landscape and proud member of the Ottawa community.” They added, “Our hearts go out to his family and friends, as well as his fans whose lives he touched throughout his hockey and media career.”
From hockey player to cherished radio personality
Tributes poured in from across the sports world. TSN’s James Duthie shared his grief, saying, “Devastated to hear of the passing of Shawn Simpson. Was proud to watch him get drafted…play pro…and then become a constant hockey voice on Ottawa radio.”
The Ottawa Redblacks, Ottawa 67’s, and Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group also released a heartfelt statement: “‘Simmer’ approached every day covering sports in Ottawa with unmatched passion, kindness, and his trademark wit. He was a pillar of our community… making a tremendous impact both through his time in the media, as well as his courageous openness and mental health advocacy.“
Former NHL player Matthew Barnaby remembered Simpson fondly as someone who “absolutely loved talking hockey” and was “so fun to be around.” He also urged others to support those who may be struggling, reflecting on Simpson’s openness about mental health challenges.

A 90-meter yacht belonging to an NFL owner was docked this week in New Orleans, ahead of the Super Bowl.
The massive vessel has a total of 27 cabins for guest and crew, a helicopter landing pad and two swimming pools.
And as reported by Nola.com, the yacht belongs to Arthur Blank, the owner of the Atlanta Falcons.
The outlet said the boat, known as the ‘DreAMBoat,’ was docked this week along the Mississippi River behind the Audubon Zoo.
According to website Superyacht Fan, the boat was purchased for $180million by Blank.
It is said to have been designed by Espen Øino, a leading naval architect from Norway.

The glitzy yacht is equipped with a glass elevator and a large dining room, and can hit a top speed of 18mph.
It can accommodate 23 guests and 33 crew members, and was reportedly last docked in Saint Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.
The co-founder of Home Depot, Blank is worth $9.6billion according to Forbes.
He purchased the Falcons for $545 million in 2002, though his stake is now worth $2.5billion.
He also owns MLS’ Atlanta United.
Blank, whose Falcons played in the championship game in 2017, has previously been seen docking his yacht in a Super Bowl host city ahead of the big game.
Prior to Super Bowl LI in 2020 Blank docked his boat on the waters of Miami as well.
Blank’s arrival in New Orleans comes ahead of Super Bowl LIX next week, which will see the Eagles and Chiefs face off at the Superdome.

Reese Witherspoon has made headlines by revealing that a famous British actress will no longer talk to her and we’ve found evidence from a fan site in 2007 that identifies that actress as Kate Winslet.
The Oscar-winning actress opened up about the falling out in a new interview alongside her You’re Cordially Invited co-star Will Ferrell.
Reese asked Will, “Have you ever had this moment where you gave a speech and then like three years later, you’re like, ‘Why did I do that? Why did I do that?’”
“I have one. It literally haunts me,” Reese began.

“So this friend of mine, who I didn’t really know that well but she was a very serious, proper actress, she asked me to give her an award. But I had never been to this award ceremony, so I thought it was like a roast. So I got up and I roasted her,” Reese said. “The tone was British and elegant and classy. And I was like, ‘Remember the time we got laser hair removal?!’ I’m still embarrassed about it.”
“We’re not friends anymore. I’m not even kidding — we’re not friends anymore,” Reese added. “I think she doesn’t like me anymore. I thought it was so funny and it was just, I had the wrong audience. It was pretty bad. Yeah. Not even kidding, she doesn’t talk to me anymore. Oh well.”
Well, we tracked down the transcript of the speech and she gave it while honoring Kate Winslet at the BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards in November 2007.
Reese and Kate were seemingly friendly already as they were seen greeting each other at the 2007 Golden Globe Awards in January 2007.
So, what did Reese say in that speech? The transcript was posted on a fan site back in 2007.
“I always wanted to be a European movie star, wear giant sunglasses, elaborate neck scarves, smoke hand-rolled cigarettes, and have savoir faire and gravitas,” Reese said. “Imagine my good fortune when Kate Winslet moved into my neighborhood, rang my door bell and said, (insert British accent here) ‘Dahling, Sam is off shooting, and I believe our children are the same age. Could they possibly have a play date and oh, by the way, it’s almost 9 o’clock and I’ve had nothing to do drink, do you have any wine?’”
Reese said that she admires Kate‘s “fearlessness. When I saw her in Iris and she took off all her clothes and jumped into that lake, I thought, ‘Wow, I bet that lake is really cold.’ And then I thought, ‘Wow, There’s an actor without fear.’”
Reese teased that she couldn’t tell her personal stories about Kate because “they’re all too bawdy or tawdry or drunken to tell.”
While the exact quote isn’t available, the fan site noted that among the “too embarrassing” stories were “the time they contemplated laser hair removal and… or that time on the freeway when they pulled over and.. or that really funny thing that happened when they were both in their underwear.”
The laser hair removal comment gave Kate‘s identity away.
While it doesn’t sound like Reese and Kate ever reconciled their friendship, based on the new comments, they did reunite many years later.
Reese and Kate presented together at the Oscars in February 2016.

Will Ferrell had a unique clause in his contract about a famous actor he flat out refused to work with again.
We all have probably had a coworker at some point or another who has pi**ed us off to no end.
If you have never had that experience? You were that coworker.
What many of us won’t have had however, is the opportunity to put into our contract something that bars them from working with us again if we want to, which reportedly is exactly what Ferrell had.

Now unique contract clauses in Hollywood are no rare thing.
Queen Latifah famously has clauses in many of her contracts prohibiting her characters from dying, The Rock puts it into contracts that he cannot lose fights, and Reese Witherspoon got it into her contract that she get to keep all her clothes from Legally Blonde 2.
Ferrell’s meanwhile, actually led to a sequel to Elf never having been made.
The story came about when the late James Caan in 2020 was interviewed on the radio and he was incredibly frank about the reason a sequel never happened.

According to Caan, it was due to tensions between Ferrell and director Jon Favreau.
Favreau is now most well known as an actor, playing Happy Hogan in a multitude of Marvel films and Pete in Friends.
The 58-year-old has also directed several classics such as Zathura, Chef, and of course, Elf.
Caan spoke about the pair in the context of a sequel to Elf, saying that himself Zoey Deschanel, himself and Mary Steenburgen were all on board to return.
He said: “We were gonna do it.
“I thought, ‘Oh my god, I finally got a franchise movie, I could make some money, let my kids do what the hell they want to do.’
“But the director and Will didn’t get along very well.”

He claimed that Ferrell was considering it, but didn’t do the film as he had in his contract that he refused to work with Favreau again.
He said: “He had it in his contract, it was one of those things.”
Ferrell has not acknowledged this but has stated that he turned down £23 million to appear in a sequel to Elf.
He said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter: “I would have had to promote the movie from an honest place, which would’ve been, like, ‘Oh no, it’s not good. I just couldn’t turn down that much money.’
I thought, ‘Can I actually say those words? I don’t think I can, so I guess I can’t do the movie’.”

Steven Spielberg Reveals He ‘Never Even Thought’ About Being a Dad Until Directing This Famous Movie
It’s not often that work is a driving factor for making someone want to become a parent. Sure, jobs are a major talking point in terms of what postpartum life will look like, but it’s rare that we hear stories about careers being the catalyst to parenthood.
And yet … Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg says he “never even thought” about fatherhood until he made E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

During a panel at the TCM Classic Film Festival, Spielberg sat alongside Barrymore and chatted about the famed 1982 film. They both agreed the movie was life-changing. For Barrymore, it jumpstarted her career. For Spielberg, it made him reflect on his personal life.
“Up until that point — ’81, ’82 — I was just making movies,” Spielberg said, per People. “That was my life. I was obsessed with telling stories, but making E.T. made me want to be a father for the first time. I never even thought about that until E.T.”
It was working alongside then-6-year-old Barrymore that made the 35-year-old want to have kids of his own. “I didn’t ruin that for you?” Barrymore quipped.
“The opposite,” Spielberg said to his goddaughter.
In fact, the director now has seven adult kids. He shares son Max with his ex-wife Amy Irving, and kids Sasha, Sawyer, Mikaela, and Destry with wife Kate Capshaw. He is also stepdad to Capshaw’s kids Jessica and Theo.

In 2022, during a special 40th anniversary celebration of the beloved sci-fi film, the Jurassic Park director also talked about E.T. setting him on a path to fatherhood.
“I didn’t want to have kids because it was not a kind of equation that made sense for me as I was going from movie to movie to movie, script to script,” he told Variety. “It never occurred to me until halfway through E.T.”
“I was a parent on that film,” Spielberg added, saying that “in a way” a director is a dad or mom. He added that he felt protective of the young cast members, “especially” Barrymore.
“And I started thinking, ‘Well, maybe this could be my real life someday.’ It was the first time that it occurred to me that maybe I could be a dad … I really felt that that would be my big production.”
During the recent panel, Spielberg admitted that because of his seven kids and six grandkids, E.T. is probably his own movie that he’s seen the most.
“I’ve shown the film to all my kids and a couple of my grandkids,” he said, “Some of them are still too young because I’m always worried about them being worried about E.T. and I want to let them know before they turn the corner and are surprised by something, what to expect.”
