  • Lauren Graham Hopes ‘Gilmore Girls’ Fans Tune in for ‘The Z-Suite’


    Lauren Graham touched down in Park City on Thursday to attend the Sundance Film Festival premiere of her new film, Twinless. The bromance dramedy stars Dylan O’Brien opposite the film’s writer-director James Sweeney in the story of two young men who meet in a twin bereavement support group and form an unlikely bond.

    Graham plays the mother of O’Brien’s characters — the Maze Runner star has dual roles as the twins, one who dies unexpectedly and the other as he attempts to find peace after losing his other half — and while the role is small, the veteran actress couldn’t pass it up. “I don’t often get offered something a little darker and something that felt like a cool challenge,” Graham told The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet inside the Eccles Center Theatre. “It doesn’t need to be about me. I can just go do something because I like it.” Plus, she said she “loves Dylan’s work.”


    Of her few scenes with O’Brien, Graham noted that the two just really clicked. “He’s got such a great charisma and he just worked so hard on both of these twins and took it so seriously, but with a lightness and just kindness to the crew and to me. There’s no place he can’t go.”

    As for Graham, she has places to go. The actress is scheduled to be in Park City for only about 24 hours before jetting off to New York City for a media promotion blitz for her new show, The Z-Suite on Tubi. The show, set to premiere Feb. 6, casts Graham as Monica Marks, an advertising maven, and Nico Santos as her loyal right-hand executive, both of whom find themselves pushed out and canceled after a blunder. Together, they must find a way back to glory while facing off against eager Gen Z staffers who have taken her place.

    The schedule will include the morning show rounds, a red carpet premiere and press junket, a swirl that Graham hasn’t been on in a few years, she said. “I’m on a new network where [the show is among] the first scripted programming,” she explained. “There’s a little bit of pressure, but also just a lot of momentum and excitement and we will just try not to screw it up.”

    After the trailer dropped this week, a handful of headlines appeared trying to connect the dots between Graham’s Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls and Monica Marks on The Z-Suite. Graham appreciates the connection but insists the characters could not be more different.

    “There are no similarities and I hope they’ll come along for this ride,” she told THR. “I can’t do that. I can never replicate the beauty and the magic of that character and that writing and that time, so I might as well not try. This is something very different, but she’s fun and kooky and the show has a spirit to it that I think has a coziness to it, but it’s very different character.”

    Series 10 contestant Sammy also stars on TOWIE and is looking forward to ruffling feathers with his villa entrance. 

    Sammy bagged the cash prize after winning the series alongside Jess Harding but called off their romance soon after they returned home.

    Speaking about his fresh chance at love, Sammy explained: ‘It did work out for me the first time, but things changed when I left the Villa. Hopefully this time round, I’ll leave with a relationship that goes the distance. 

    ‘Last time I was very much a boy and was immature at times in terms of not thinking about my actions beforehand.’

    He continued: ‘Now looking back, I feel like I’ve changed a lot and I’d like to think I’ve grown from a boy to a gentleman.’ 

    Danielle, who appeared in series three, is looking to find the man of her dreams as she returns.

    After appearing on the show as a bombshell in Casa Amor last time, Danielle is hoping she finds more luck this time round.

    She said: ‘I was a lot younger going in the first time, I was 21! I entered during Casa Amor and lots of the boys were in strong couples! 8 years on, I’m older and know what I want, so I’m going to just go for it!’

  • Ranji Trophy 2024-25 – IPL-like scenes in Delhi as fans flock to watch Virat Kohli play


    The Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Railways was to start at 9.30am, but fans were lined up outside the Arun Jaitley Stadium from 5am itself. They were afraid they might not find a seat in the limited stands available for the game and, therefore, would miss a chance to see their favourite, Virat Kohli, in action. These fans had come not only from the NCR region but also from the surrounding states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan.

    On Wednesday morning, when this reporter reached the Delhi Gate metro station, the closest one to the stadium, the scene was completely different from other Ranji matches. There was a huge crowd both inside and outside the metro station, just like during an IPL match, and was shouting “Kohli, Kohli… RCB, RCB”.

    Two law students, Tejas and Nirvan, had come from Sonipat, Haryana. When asked if they had come for Kohli, Tejas jokingly said, “No brother, we have come to support the Railways team.” And both burst out laughing. “We have come here just to see Virat Kohli, else who bunks classes to watch a Ranji match,” Nirvan said.

    On the way to the stadium, the crowd had increased manifold. Thousands of spectators were in front of Gate 15 and 16, waiting for the gates to be opened. There was even a stampede briefly but the police controlled it immediately and no one was hurt.

    There crowd had people of all ages and backgrounds. Vijay Sharma, a Noida resident, had taken leave from his office so that he could bring his wife and two daughters to the match and they could watch their favourite cricketer playing.

    When the gates finally opened at 9am, the Gautam Gambhir stand, with a capacity of about 6500, was filled in a jiffy. And there were people still outside the gate. Seeing that, the DDCA officials decided to open the Bishan Singh Bedi stand as well. Only after that, everyone was able to enter the stadium.

    However, they must have been a bit disappointed when Delhi captain Ayush Badoni opted to field after winning the toss. But as soon as Kohli walked onto the field, they filled the entire stadium with the chants of “Kohli, Kohli” and “RCB, RCB”. When Kohli acknowledged them by waving his hand, the chants grew louder.

    During the 11th over of the day, a spectator broke the barricading, reached Kohli who was standing in slips, and touched his feet. The security personnel ran after him and escorted him back. After this, Special Task Force personnel were deployed along the boundary line. Perhaps because they were not aware, they ended up roaming in front of the sightscreen, which caused a couple of short stoppages.

    During the first session, when Railways lost five wickets for 66, the fans’ hopes of seeing Kohli bat increased. But a partnership of 104 in 33 overs between Upendra Yadav and Karn Sharma dashed them. This possibility again gained momentum when Navdeep Saini took two wickets in two balls just before tea. But once again, a half-century partnership put paid to it.

    With the chances of Kohli batting fading, the spectators started leaving. By the end of the day, half of them had left. But with Delhi 41 for 1 at stumps, and Kohli one wicket away from walking in, expect them to be lined up outside the stadium at 5am once again.
