Montpellier HSC’s latest defeat, at the hands of fellow strugglers SCO Angers was a big blow. Not only did the 3-1 defeat leave them rock-bottom, forcing Jean-Louis Gasset to announce “mission impossible” in the fight to stave off relegation, it also saw them lose two players, including their captain.
Jordan Ferri has inherited the armband since Téji Savanier was stripped of the captaincy. However, he was sent off late on after he lashed out at his opponent. He will miss Friday’s game against AS Monaco, as well as the next two fixtures. Boubakar Kouyaté was also sent off late in the encounter against Le SCO and will also miss this match through suspension.
Nikola Maksimović is also out for Montpellier. He joined on a short-term deal midway through the first half of the season but has already suffered a season-ending injury.

Montpellier will be facing Monaco in their upcoming match, but they will have to do so without two key players. Boubakar Kouyaté and Jordan Ferri have both been suspended for the game, leaving the team with some tough decisions to make when it comes to their starting lineup.
Here is the predicted XI for Montpellier:
Goalkeeper: Jonas Omlin
Defenders: Arnaud Souquet, Pedro Mendes, Hilton, Mihailo Ristić
Midfielders: Florent Mollet, Teji Savanier, Damien Le Tallec, Gaëtan Laborde
Forwards: Andy Delort, Stephy Mavididi
It will be interesting to see how Montpellier cope without Kouyaté and Ferri, but they will be looking to put in a strong performance against Monaco regardless.
