The St. Louis Blues have traded Scott Perunovich to the New York Islanders for a conditional draft pick, the teams announced Monday.

The pick heading to the Blues would be in the fifth round of the 2026 NHL Draft, though the terms of the conditions weren’t immediately announced.

The move was inevitable at some point for Perunovich, 26, a second-round pick in 2018. His career was riddled by injuries early and when in the Blues’ lineup, he struggled to find his footing.

The 2020 Hober Baker winner as college hockey’s top player was an offensive-minded defenseman and power-play specialist at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. But points were hard to come by during his time with the Blues, with two goals and 27 assists in 97 games.

Perunovich has played in just 24 games this season and was a healthy scratch 26 times.

Why the Blues made the move, and what Perunovich brings

The club wasn’t confident playing Perunovich on a regular basis, and he clearly needed a change of scenery.

Perunovich is undersized (5-foot-10, 175 pounds) but has shown glimpses in the NHL of how he can be successful. There just haven’t been enough of them.

When he’s playing with confidence, Perunovich can move the puck and quarterback a power play. But his confidence was regularly down because of his injuries, limited opportunities and lack of success. Offensively, he was often reluctant to shoot, and defensively he struggled five-on-five. As a result, the Blues made several moves that moved him down the pecking order on defense: bringing in Ryan Suter, Philip Broberg and Cam Fowler.

Meanwhile, Tyler Tucker was called up and quickly solidified a spot in the lineup, pushing Perunovich further out of the picture. — Rutherford

How he fits on the Islanders

Well, he’s an NHL defenseman, so that qualifies him immediately. With Noah Dobson sidelined indefinitely and Ryan Pulock going straight to injured reserve after leaving Saturday’s game on the first shift, the Isles are desperate. They added Tony DeAngelo on Friday to fill one hole and now Perunovich, still only 26, can plug another.

Lou Lamoriello’s team still sits six points out of a playoff spot despite carrying a four-game winning streak into Tuesday’s game with the Avalanche. All the signs, record-wise and health-wise, point to the Islanders being necessary sellers by the March 7 trade deadline. Lamoriello isn’t waving a white flag just yet, though, and this deal — adding a once-promising defenseman for basically no cost — says that Lamoriello will give his team as much time as possible to see if the Islanders can get back into the East playoff picture. — Staple

This Mount works great. I'm pulling one star because the screws for the wall anchors are just a tad too small; the work OK, but you can pull them out of the plastic anchors with a little bit of effort.

To reviewer CJW who complained that the male and female plates were not a snug fit and they had to shim the bottom to prevent the screen from angling down:

The same thing happened to me and then I remembered that there were two little set screws that go into the top of the connection area of the plates which lock the two together. When you align the holes for these set screws, that downward tilt is taken up and the whole thing locks solid. Depending on the size of screen you are mounting, accessing them could be a challenge; I was lucky and was just mounting an electronic picture frame.

This little mount works very well. The two halves separate – one attaches to the monitor that was equipped with 100×100 mm VESA mounting plate. After that, you simply position the monitor slightly above and in front of the plate, push it in and let it drop down to its mounting position. Two screws on the top (I needed a long philips head screwdriver to reach them since the monitor is quite near the wall) secure the top half to the bottom half.

You would expect it to fit snuggly within the bracket, and the screws to just prevent it from being accidentally dislodged, but that's not the case. The mount rests on the screw plate and it's somewhat loose in the bracket.

Also of note, the screws are extremely difficult to access if mounting a monitor in portrait mode. Not the fault of the product so that didn't factor into my rating, but something you should know if you plan to orient it this way.

• I used this on a 27" Acer CB272. The setup was straightforward until I started getting the brackets on the wall.
• Use your own wall anchor if you can. The anchors are cheap and the top anchor just spun with the screw. I had to hold it with a pair of needle nose pliers while I got the screw most of the way in. After I got it seated, the anchor was slide out of the wall by about a quarter inch. That meant the monitor was aiming down towards the desk.
• To fix this I had to use some small washers and sheetrock screws to hold the wall bracket tight to the wall.
• Then the issue with the design…even with the mount tight to the wall, when you put the monitor on it, it sags down towards the desk. The only way to stop that is to put in the two screws that hold the monitor mount to the wall mount. Unfortunately, at least with my monitor, that is nearly impossible to reach. A screwdriver handle pushes the angle too far to drop the screw into place with a driver. I tried lowering the monitor into place with the screws already in, and no go. I finally had to use a piece of tape to lower a longer screw into place, and tighten it enough to hold the monitor in place. What should have taken about ten minutes took almost two hours.

The end result was what I wanted, but for all the options out there, you might keep looking to find one that doesn't have these issues.

In all, I've purchased 4 of these enclosures each with a 2 TB M.2 NVMe and they work great! I do wish they supported higher speeds other than a max of 10 Gbps as both my M.2 and USB C cables are much faster – the USB C cable I'm using supports up to 40 Gbps so there is a missed speed bonus to be sure.

Having said all that, it is still more than able to record Apple ProRes 4K 60 fps with zero dropped frames and zero wait time when you stop recording.

The enclosure is very well made and includes everything you need to use it except the M.2 card. When shopping for your NVMe card to use with this be sure to check the size and compatibility before you buy the card to help save you some frustration. If you are planning to use Apple ProRes 4K 60 fps but remember the file sizes are super huge. A 2 TB SSD will give you about 1.5 hours.

If I could change anything or make a suggestion to improve upon this enclosure it would be to make it thinner. I'm no engineer, but from what I can see the height could easily be cut in half or more. This would also make it lighter, but more importantly a thinner enclosure might actually make it possible to use while on a handheld gimble.

Unfortunately my Panasonic GH7 camera would only take power or data from this device and not both at the same time (a camera limitation). There are faster drives in this form factor and there are also smaller USB sticks of this speed, but if you have a device that can use both PD power and data from the single connection then this is a good choice.

This NVMe enclosure is great for use on the road, especially since you can power the drive and phone externally (as with this one), but I also keep a couple stuck to my desktop PC for periodic backups and fast data transfer. The 2230 NVMe drives are available in up to 2TB – I generally use 256 or 512GB – and you can use them with any USB computer or mobile device. I don't have a good way to measure performance on the iPhone but I'm usually not complaining on that front, or on the desktop backup front for that matter.

This one isn't tool-free, but I usually don't have to swap drives often in these so that's not a bad thing.
