    Hawaiin Airlines flight returns to Sea-Tac after fumes in cockpit


    A Hawaiian Airlines flight bound for Honolulu from Seattle made an emergency return shortly after takeoff on Monday due to reported fumes in the cockpit, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and originally reported by The Seattle Times.

    Hawaiian Airlines Flight 21 safely landed back at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) around 1 p.m., the FAA reported. The agency is currently investigating the incident.

    Hawaiian Airlines originally reported that the fumes were visible smoke.

    “The captain declared an emergency to obtain priority handling, and the Airbus A330 landed at SEA without incident,” Marissa Villegas, a spokesperson for Hawaiian Airlines, said in an emailed statement to The Seattle Times. “As a precaution, medical and fire personnel met the aircraft at the gate, and all 273 passengers and 10 crew members deplaned safely.”

    Flight 21 successfully departed for Honolulu on Tuesday morning with a new aircraft. Passengers were provided with hotel accommodations, meals, compensation, and earlier available flights.

    “Safety is our priority, and we sincerely apologize for this event,” Villegas added.

    Passengers on a Hawaiian Airlines flight were left shaken after their aircraft was forced to return to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport due to fumes in the cockpit.

    The flight, which was en route to Honolulu, had to turn back shortly after takeoff when the pilots reported smelling a strange odor in the cockpit. The decision to return to Sea-Tac was made out of an abundance of caution, and the aircraft landed safely without incident.

    Once on the ground, emergency crews were on hand to inspect the aircraft and ensure the safety of all passengers and crew members. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

    Hawaiian Airlines has since apologized to passengers for the inconvenience and is working to accommodate them on alternative flights to their destination. The cause of the fumes in the cockpit is currently under investigation.

    Passengers praised the crew for their quick and decisive actions in ensuring the safety of everyone on board. As one passenger stated, “I’d rather be safe on the ground than sorry in the air.”

    Fumes in the cockpit of a Hawaiian-bound flight forced the aircraft to return to the Seattle airport shortly after taking off Monday afternoon. 

    An airline spokesperson told FOX Business that Hawaiian Airlines flight HA21 returned to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport after departure due to fumes in the cabin. It was heading to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu.

    The captain declared an emergency to obtain priority handling and the Airbus 330 landed at SEA without incident, the airline said. 

    Medical and fire personnel met the aircraft at the gate and all 273 passengers and 10 crewmembers deplaned safely.

    Once the aircraft was cleared, the Port of Seattle Fire Department boarded to investigate and did not find any smoke or smell, airport spokesperson Perry Cooper told The Associated Press. 

    Flight 21 left Seattle on Tuesday morning in a new aircraft.

    On a recent Hawaiian-bound flight from Seattle, passengers were in for a scare when fumes began filling the cockpit, forcing the plane to turn back and make an emergency landing.

    The flight, operated by a major airline, had just taken off from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport when the pilots noticed a strange odor in the cockpit. As the fumes became stronger, they made the decision to return to Seattle for the safety of everyone on board.

    Passengers reported feeling nauseous and light-headed as the fumes spread throughout the cabin. Flight attendants quickly distributed oxygen masks and instructed passengers to stay seated and remain calm.

    Upon landing back in Seattle, emergency crews were waiting to assist the passengers and crew. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported, but the incident left many shaken and questioning the safety of air travel.

    The airline is investigating the cause of the fumes and ensuring that proper protocols are in place to prevent a similar situation from happening in the future. In the meantime, passengers scheduled on the flight were rebooked on alternative flights to continue their journey to Hawaii.

    This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety measures on airplanes and the quick thinking of pilots and crew members in emergency situations.     The Las Vegas Raiders had a flight delayed for several hours on Saturday, forcing them to head to New Orleans late for their meeting with the Saints on Sunday.

    Las Vegas was hoping to fly out in the morning, but a mechanical issue on its plane prevented it from doing so. 

    Instead, the Raiders had to wait for a second plane, which didn’t get out of town until about 10pm ET.

    Kickoff for Las Vegas’ matchup with New Orleans was at 1pm ET.

    Because of the delay, the Raiders had to hold team meetings at their facility instead of the team’s hotel.

    Las Vegas is 3-12 this season and has already been eliminated from playoff contention while in the midst of a 10-game skid that finally ended last weekend.
