  • Flights disrupted at Hawaii airports due to severe weather, visibility issues

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Travelers at Hawaii airports experienced delays and cancellations due to severe weather Thursday.

Hawaii News Now issued a First Alert Weather Day from Wednesday night through Friday morning as the strong winter storm moved through Hawaii.

In an update on Friday morning, the state Department of Transportation said there are no ground stops issued by the FAA.

Travelers are still advised to check with their airlines before they head to the airport as they work to reschedule flights that were impacted on Thursday.

A ground stop was issued Thursday morning for interisland flights statewide that essentially kept planes from taking off or landing for about an hour.

A ground stop was later reissued for Daniel K. International Airport in Honolulu at about 3:30 p.m. for all incoming flights, and all inbound and outbound interisland flights.

Incoming transpacific flights were diverted to other airports, officials said.

“Grounding was because of visibility,” said Hawaii Department of Transportation Director Ed Sniffen. “It was very difficult for for pilots to come into or leave Honolulu Airport because of the visibility due to the storm.”

This meant delays for travelers, some of whom had been waiting for hours to get to their intended destinations.

“Based on the satellites I was watching, it looked like we could actually maybe miss the the weather and get home before it hit too hard, but when we were on our way here, I could tell that there might be possibilities of cancellations,” said Pahoa resident Brittany Hutchins.

“Hopefully we make it to Kauai on time, because we have a rental car, hotels all lined up, so it would be a little inconvenient if things didn’t work out, but you know as long as it’s safe,” said Ninglu Weng, a visitor from Winnipeg, Canada.

Transportation officials say they’re coordinating with airlines on flight schedules to make sure things run as smoothly as possible.

They also say that travelers should be in touch with their airline for more information.

Hawaiian Airlines said travel waivers are available for guests traveling to/from Honolulu (HNL), Lihue (LIH), Hilo (ITO), Kona (KOA), and Kahului (OGG) between Wednesday and Friday due to the inclement weather.

Officials also said a power spike at Honolulu’s airport triggered fire alarms and blew out some circuits that needed to be reset.

Recently, Hawaii airports have been experiencing disruptions in flights due to severe weather and visibility issues. The unpredictable weather conditions have caused delays and cancellations, leaving travelers stranded and frustrated.

The heavy rainfall and strong winds have made it difficult for planes to take off and land safely. The low visibility has also posed challenges for pilots, making it unsafe to operate flights in certain areas.

Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for updates on their flights and to be prepared for potential delays or cancellations. It is recommended to monitor the weather conditions and follow any travel advisories issued by airport authorities.

Stay safe and stay informed as we navigate through these challenging weather conditions in Hawaii. Let’s hope for improved weather conditions soon so that flights can resume normal operations.

  • IndiGo Set to Soar into Europe with Direct Flights to Amsterdam

IndiGo Airlines is gearing up to make a bold entry into the European market, with plans to launch daily flights to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport from its hubs in Mumbai and Delhi.

The airline, renowned for its dominance in the Indian domestic market, is now setting its sights on international expansion, aiming to connect India more seamlessly with Europe.

Operations are expected to commence in the summer of 2025, marking a significant milestone in IndiGo’s journey toward becoming a global aviation powerhouse.

    A Strategic Move into Europe

Amsterdam, one of Europe’s busiest and most strategically located airports, is a key target for IndiGo as it looks to tap into the growing demand for travel between India and Europe.

With thousands of passengers traveling annually between Amsterdam and major Indian cities like Delhi and Mumbai, the market potential is undeniable.

IndiGo’s entry will not only provide travelers with more affordable options but also intensify competition on these routes, traditionally dominated by legacy carriers.

To support its expansion plans, IndiGo has bolstered its leadership team in Europe.

The airline has appointed experienced aviation professionals to oversee operations and establish its presence in key European markets. This strategic focus on leadership and market development underscores IndiGo’s commitment to making its European venture a success.

    Fleet Upgrades for Long-Haul Operations

IndiGo is preparing its fleet for the demands of long-haul international routes. The airline will soon introduce Airbus A321XLR aircraft, which are designed for extended-range operations with greater fuel efficiency.

Additionally, IndiGo plans to add Airbus A350s to its fleet by 2027, further strengthening its ability to serve distant destinations.

In the short term, IndiGo has secured six Boeing 787 Dreamliners on a wet lease arrangement.

These wide-body aircraft will initially operate on high-demand regional routes before being deployed to Europe. The first two Dreamliners are expected to join the fleet by March 2025, signaling IndiGo’s readiness to take on long-haul operations without delay.

    Overcoming Challenges

While the expansion plan is ambitious, it is not without challenges. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport has faced regulatory hurdles due to proposed reductions in flight operations, which could impact IndiGo’s ability to secure permanent slots. However, the airline is actively engaging with authorities to navigate these obstacles and ensure smooth operations at the airport.

A New Era for Indian Aviation

IndiGo’s push into Europe marks a significant shift in its business strategy as it transitions from being a predominantly domestic carrier to a global player.

With competitive pricing, modern aircraft, and a focus on customer-centric service, IndiGo is well-positioned to disrupt traditional markets and offer travelers new choices for affordable long-haul travel.

As the airline prepares for takeoff into Europe, all eyes are on how this move will reshape connectivity between India and one of the world’s most dynamic regions.

For passengers seeking convenience and value, IndiGo’s arrival in Amsterdam could be just what they’ve been waiting for.

  • IndiGo Eyes Break To Air India-KLM Duopoly With New Amsterdam Flights This Summer

    IndiGo
is venturing for the long-haul. The airline is getting a headstart on its European expansion, reportedly calling on Norse Atlantic Airways for the capacity it needs ahead of its Airbus A350s start being delivered. The anticipated network is not at all insignificant.

The airline is eying service to important European hubs, namely Amsterdam, London and Paris, local media reports believe. Amsterdam is more certain. Flights from Mumbai and Delhi are in the works.

    The Norse Atlantic wet-lease

IndiGo has widebody planes on order to that effect, having signed an agreement with Airbus for 30 A350-900s.

Deliveries are expected from 2027, giving the airline’s competition plenty of time to prepare and solidify their position in the India-Europe market (at least, primarily). But IndiGo knows this, of course.

    Photo: Norse Atlantic

Near the end of last month, IndiGo confirmed that it is searching for widebody capacity in the meantime. Local reports suggested that IndiGo had signed an agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways for six Boeing 787 aircraft which will be used in the interim to launch long-haul flights. In an earnings call, CEO Peter Elbers said:

“Subject to regulator proposals, we are exploring interim solutions for the earlier introduction of long-range aircraft to our fleet through wet leases. Route and network opportunities are being explored at present and we will communicate as and when they are finalised.”

IndiGo Nears Deal With Norse Atlantic Airways To Wet-Lease 6 Boeing 787 Dreamliners

The deal will help IndiGo achieve its goals of starting long-haul international service as early as 2025, including to London and Paris.

    Amsterdam-bound

According to Hindu Business Line, IndiGo has applied for slots at Amsterdam’s congested Schiphol Airport (AMS). The airline hopes to launch services from the two major Indian airports, Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). In this tentative plan, flights from each of the hubs would operate daily.

Peter Elbers, a Dutchman born and raised in The Netherlands, confirmed that Amsterdam was being considered. That being said, does Elbers want a direct route home or does the route make sense – or indeed, both? In an interview with De Telegraaf, the airline boss said:

“We are always looking for opportunities and are looking for aircraft with which we could do that. The Netherlands is an interesting market, because of the Indian community and companies.”

    Photo: IndiGo

According to OAG booking data for the 12 months ending July 2024, just under 117,000 two-way passengers traveled between Amsterdam and Delhi. Meanwhile, from Mumbai, this figure stands at about 70,000 people. There’s a solid market to justify the new routes, especially considering the catchment area beyond Delhi and Mumbai should the carrier look at attracting connecting traffic. A sizeable amount of passengers also traveled between Amsterdam and the following cities in the Indian subcontinent.

    • Colombo (CMB)
    • Bengaluru (BLR)
    • Chennai (MAA)
    • Male (MLE)
    • Hyderabad (HYD)

    A threat to Europe’s airlines

IndiGo’s low-fare model and extensive network in the Indian subcontinent and beyond makes it a viable competitor to the existing airlines on the market. Between India and the Netherlands, KLM and Air India both offer flights, which are listed below.

    • KLM Royal Dutch Airlines: Bengaluru (BLR), Delhi (DEL) and Mumbai (BOM)
    • Air India: Delhi (DEL)

KLM’s near-monopoly on flights in this market will be significantly challenged should IndiGo decide to go through with its plan this summer. More broadly, with most airlines in Western Europe facing Russian airspace restrictions limiting service to the Far East, India was one of the few remaining significant Asian gateways for expansion.

For the 12 months ending December 2025, European airlines have scheduled over 12,300 flights on the India-Europe market, the majority therefore of the nearly 20,000 planned according to Cirium data.

This does not include IndiGo’s possible services as details are not set in stone just yet.

    A threat to Air India

Air India contributes 6,300 flights to make up the remainder, complemented by Air Canada’s 150 with its Calgary-London-Delhi service. Air India is clearly in a bit of trouble with IndiGo’s planned European expansion.

Based purely on a number of flights, IndiGo’s position in the Indian domestic market far exceeds that of the runner-up, Air India. Take a look at the table below based on Cirium data for the 12 months ending December 2025.

    Airline

    Domestic flights scheduled in 2025

    IndiGo

    Akasa Air

    47,000

    AirIndiaA350

    Photo: Air India

Whether Air India will be able to keep up is another question. The carrier already has a well-solidified position on the international scene, primarily in the long-haul market. Its recent merger with Vistara further contributes to this market position, while aircraft orders mean deliveries of new planes over the next years will only serve to reinforce it. Air India might not be in as much trouble as the European airlines.

The Indian flag carrier appears to be behind the purchase.

One thing is clear, though. Even a passing glance shows that IndiGo’s entry into the European market (aside from existing service to Istanbul) is bad news for everyone else. It’s just a matter of time.

IndiGo Eyes Break To Air India-KLM Duopoly With New Amsterdam Flights This Summer

Indian budget airline IndiGo is set to challenge the dominant duopoly of Air India and KLM on the lucrative Amsterdam route this summer. The airline announced plans to launch new flights between Delhi and Amsterdam, offering travelers more options and competitive pricing.

With the current duopoly controlling the majority of the market share on the route, passengers have often faced limited choices and high fares. IndiGo’s entry into the market is expected to bring much-needed competition and shake up the status quo.

The new flights are scheduled to begin in the summer season, providing a convenient option for travelers looking to explore Amsterdam’s vibrant culture and picturesque canals. IndiGo’s reputation for offering affordable fares and reliable service is likely to attract a significant number of passengers.

By expanding its international network and challenging established players, IndiGo is positioning itself as a major player in the global aviation industry. With its focus on customer satisfaction and operational efficiency, the airline is poised to make a significant impact on the Amsterdam route this summer.

Travelers can look forward to more choices, better prices, and enhanced convenience when flying between Delhi and Amsterdam with IndiGo. Keep an eye out for updates on flight schedules and booking information as the launch date approaches. Get ready to experience a new era of competition and choice in the skies this summer with IndiGo’s exciting new flights to Amsterdam.

  • Black Hawk helicopter flights begin along U.S. border in Alberta

As the Royal Canadian Mounted Police ramp up border patrols in a bid to strengthen security and respond to America’s growing pressure to stop illegal border crossings and drug trafficking, a Black Hawk helicopter is now patrolling the border in Alberta.

The RCMP said the flights along the U.S.-Canada border began Tuesday. Similar such flights have already begun in Manitoba.

The helicopter will patrol the Prairie border to search for, and target, all illegal activity along the border region.

RCMP said this includes searching for people who illegally cross over into Canada between border crossings and for the human smugglers who facilitate those journeys.

RCMP said the Black Hawk will also be used to detect and stop smuggling and trafficking of contraband such as illegal drugs into, and out of, Canada.

The helicopters will have police officers on-board who can respond to any spot near the border where illegal activity may be taking place.

In an interview with Global News earlier this month, the chief superintendent and director general of serious and organized crime and border integrity for the RCMP said the force has been assessing the force’s border capabilities since 2023, which was what allowed them to move quickly on leasing the Black Hawks.

Mathieu Bertrand said the RCMP already had an existing number of nine helicopters, six of which were for patrolling the border, but the Black Hawks will increase their speed.

Police added the Black Hawks allow those on board to fast-rope down without the helicopter needing to land, giving them the ability to extract and hoist to remove people as well.

The range of the Black Hawks depends on fuel, with the standard amount allowing them to travel about 590 km, though the range can be extended to more than 2,000 km if auxiliary tanks are added.

The helicopters are part of Canada’s plan to beef up patrols of the U.S.-Canada border.

The government is deploying a range of other security measures as well, such as using drones and surveillance towers, and acquiring new technology such as x rays, mobile x rays, and handheld chemical analyzers.

Global News has previously reported that a senior government source had said Trudeau was ready to beef up border security by buying new helicopters for patrol. A national security source had said at the time that the RCMP has sought helicopter capabilities for the border for years.

    Story continues below advertisement

In December 2024, the federal government said it is proposing a joint strike force and an “around the clock” aerial surveillance unit for ports of entry as part of its plan to tackle issues at the U.S.-Canada border amid growing pressure from Trump.

The planned North American joint strike force was one of several announcements that came from the government’s fall economic statement, which saw $1.3 billion announced for added border security measures.

With Parliament prorogued until March 24, that new spending can’t be passed but measures that can be accomplished without legislation can still go ahead.

Alberta RCMP said people who live near the U.S. border may hear and see the helicopter on a regular basis. RCMP said this will be normal police operations and there’s no cause for any public safety concern.

  • Transatlantic flights flew over 800 mph after freezing weather juiced the jet stream

    • On Wednesday, at least two transatlantic flights reached top ground speeds above 800 mph.

    • They were still technically subsonic because they were propelled by a faster-than-usual jet stream.

    • Recent cold weather strengthened the jet stream, and the climate crisis is set to exacerbate this.

Some transatlantic flights traveled faster than the speed of sound relative to the ground this week.

It isn’t the return of Concorde — instead, regular wide-body jets were flying through an accelerated jet stream.

According to data from Flightradar24, Qatar Airways Flight 704 reached a top ground speed of 833 mph as it crossed the Atlantic on Wednesday.

The Boeing 777 flying from New York to Doha landed about 50 minutes ahead of schedule.

Also briefly traveling above the speed of sound was British Airways Flight 274, which hit a top ground speed of 814 mph during a trip to London from Las Vegas, per Flightradar24 data.

The Airbus A350 landed 45 minutes ahead of schedule.

While both flights’ top speeds were above Mach 1.2 when taking their cruising altitudes into account, there would not have been a sonic boom.

The planes were traveling at their usual cruising speeds — typically about 600 mph — but were propelled by the North Atlantic jet stream flowing much faster than usual.

So, while the planes traveled above the speed of sound relative to the ground, they were still subsonic relative to the air around them.

The jet stream has been made more powerful than usual by the recent cold spell in the US.

This was also set to bring high winds to the UK and Ireland as part of Storm Éowyn. Red warnings — meaning there is a danger to life — were in place for all of Ireland and parts of Scotland for Friday, with wind gusts expected to be as high as 100 mph.

While Wednesday’s flights were rare in going over 800 mph, it isn’t clear that any records were broken.

The fastest subsonic transatlantic commercial flight recorded by Guinness World Records took place in 2020, when a British Airways Boeing 747 flew from New York to London in 4 hours and 56 minutes.

Relative to the ground below, it flew through the jet stream at 825 mph.

But its top speeds were sustained for longer than Wednesday’s flights, given that the flight was over two hours quicker than usual.

It may not be long before records are broken again, though.

Most flights between the US and Europe travel through the North Atlantic jet stream, and its tailwinds are the reason it’s faster to fly to Europe from the US rather than vice versa.

The climate crisis means that the jet streams are becoming stronger and, therefore, faster.

It is causing an increasing difference in energy between two layers of the atmosphere, which imparts more energy into the jet streams.

This also enlarges Rossby waves — meanders in the jet stream — which creates more friction in the air and increases the risk of turbulence on the edges of the jet stream.

If you want to see a true supersonic commercial flight, you’ll have to wait a few more years.

Boom Supersonic, a US startup, is developing an airliner planned to travel at Mach 1.7, with plans to enter service before the end of the decade.

Correction: January 23, 2025 — An earlier version of this story overstated how many flights travel through the North Atlantic jet stream. Most flights, specifically between Europe and the US, do so, but other transatlantic flights often do not.

Incredible Speeds: Transatlantic flights flew over 800 mph after freezing weather juiced the jet stream

Recently, freezing weather conditions have caused the jet stream to reach unprecedented speeds, resulting in transatlantic flights traveling at speeds over 800 mph. This extreme weather phenomenon has created a unique opportunity for airlines to significantly reduce flight times and fuel consumption.

Passengers aboard these flights have experienced the thrill of traveling at such high speeds, arriving at their destinations in record time. Pilots have also reported the exhilarating experience of navigating through the powerful jet stream, showcasing the incredible capabilities of modern aircraft.

While this weather event has provided some exciting moments for travelers and aviation enthusiasts, it also serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of our planet’s climate. As we continue to experience the impacts of climate change, it is crucial to monitor and understand how these changes can affect air travel and other aspects of our daily lives.

  • Singapore Airlines Ups Airbus A350-900 Flights To Seattle To 5 Weekly Frequencies

As airlines throughout Asia-Pacific began the long road to post-pandemic recovery, the standout performer has been Singapore Airlines. Over the last two years, the full-service carrier has expertly added more capacity in a disciplined way, keeping the two closely matched to drive passenger load factors into the profitable zone.

Stepping up capacity on the Seattle route

Singapore Airlines is continuing the post-Covid era in the same way it navigated its way out of the disastrous lockdowns throughout Asia by adding capacity to routes it already knows will be profitable. Last week, the airline made several changes to its Northern Summer 2025 operations, including advice that it would add more flights between Singapore and Seattle in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States.

According to Mainly Miles, this route debuted in September 2019 with three weekly flights using Airbus A350s but increased to five weekly from March 2020. The arrival of the pandemic ended the service until it returned in December 2021 as part of a Singapore-Vancouver-Seattle-Vancouver-Singapore route.

Singapore Airlines Group Adds Capacity As Traffic Keeps Growing

Overcapacity in North Asia is starting to affect passenger loads at Singapore Airlines and Scoot, although the group has fully recovered post-COVID.

In June 2022, the route was changed to a nonstop Singapore—Seattle flight three times weekly, with high demand sustaining a boost to four times weekly in June 2024. The next iteration starts on May 30, 2025, when Singapore Airlines (SIA) will increase its flights between Singapore and Seattle to five times weekly, with flights from SIN on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

This is how the Singapore Airlines route is operating today

On January 25, Singapore Airlines flight SQ28 departed Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) at 10:13 and, after a 14:16-hour flight, landed in Seattle at 08:28. The service was operated with a 2019 Airbus A350-900, registration 9V-SMV and MSN 329, which was first delivered to Singapore Airlines in July 2019.

    Singapore SQ28 SIN SEA

The aircraft returned to Singapore as SQ27, departing Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA) at 10:35 and arriving at Singapore Changi at 18:13. The next day, it operated a return flight to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and regularly flies on routes from Singapore to Melbourne (MEL), Hong Kong (HKG), Jakarta (CGK), Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and London Gatwick (LGW).

SIA has the right size aircraft for the Seattle service

Fleet data from ch-aviation shows that Singapore Airlines has a fleet of 159 aircraft, with 16 listed as inactive. SIA has an extensive air cargo operation with 12 freighters, including seven Boeing 747-400FSCD and five 777-200F aircraft. The listing shows that the passenger fleet includes:

    • 58 Airbus A350-900s
    • Seven Airbus A350-900(ULR)s
    • 12 Airbus A380s
    • 16 Boeing 737 MAX 8s
    • Six Boeing 737-800s
    • 22 Boeing 777-300ERs
    • 26 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners.

The data also lists 56 new aircraft to be delivered, including seven Airbus A350Fs, 13 Boeing 737 MAX 8s, 31 Boeing 777-9s and five Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners. While Singapore Airlines may be waiting some time for the new-generation 777-9s to be delivered from Boeing, it has a substantial fleet of Airbus A350s should demand on the Seattle route keep growing.

When the Seattle service increases in May, Singapore Airlines will operate 57 weekly flights to and from the United States. The schedule for June shows 17 weekly flights to Los Angeles, 14 to New York, 14 to San Francisco, seven to Newark and five to Seattle. Ironically, that will be less than the 61 weekly flights currently flown, as services to Houston will be cut from late March 2025.

Singapore Airlines recently announced that it will be increasing its Airbus A350-900 flights to Seattle to 5 weekly frequencies starting in the near future. This decision comes as a response to the growing demand for flights between Singapore and Seattle.

The Airbus A350-900 is known for its state-of-the-art features and superior comfort, making it a popular choice among passengers. With the increase in frequencies, travelers can now enjoy more options when flying between these two cities.

This move by Singapore Airlines not only demonstrates their commitment to providing exceptional service to their customers but also highlights the importance of the Seattle market to the airline. The increase in flights will not only benefit passengers but also boost tourism and business connections between Singapore and Seattle.

Overall, this development is great news for travelers looking to fly between these two vibrant cities and further solidifies Singapore Airlines’ position as a top choice for long-haul flights.

  • Colombia to block US deportation flights amid growing LatAm pushback

Colombian President Gustavo Petro said Sunday he would block US deportation flights until migrants were guaranteed “dignified treatment,” escalating a row between Washington and left-wing Latin American governments over US President Donald Trump’s migrant crackdown.

“The United States cannot treat Colombian migrants as criminals. I forbid entry to our territory to US planes carrying Colombian migrants,” Petro wrote on X, adding they would only be accepted once Washington had established rules ensuring they would receive “dignified treatment.”

In a later post he said he had “turned back US military planes that were coming with Colombian migrants,” without saying when or how many planes were involved.

He added however that he would allow in civilian US flights carrying deported migrants, as long as they were not treated “like criminals.”

US officials did not immediately respond to Petro’s remarks, but Trump’s border czar Tom Homan told ABC’s “This Week” show on Saturday that migrants could be sent to a third country if original destination countries refused to allow flights in.

“President Trump’s going to put America first,” Homan said, adding that if countries refused to take back migrants, “then we’ll place them in a third safe country.”

Trump’s threats to deport millions of migrants has put him on a potential collision course with governments in Latin America, the original home to many of the estimated 11 million undocumented migrants in the United States.

    – ‘Tied hands and feet’ –

Colombia’s warning to Washington came amid outrage in fellow left-wing ally Brazil over the treatment by the Trump administration of dozens of Brazilian migrants deported back to their country on Friday.

The migrants were handcuffed on the flight aboard a civilian aircraft, in what Brazil called “flagrant disregard” for their basic rights.

Edgar Da Silva Moura, a 31-year-old computer technician who was among the 88 deported migrants, told AFP: “On the plane they didn’t give us water, we were tied hands and feet, they wouldn’t even let us go to the bathroom.”

“It was very hot, some people fainted.”

TV footage showed some passengers descending from the plane with their hands handcuffed and their ankles shackled.

Several deportation flights since Trump’s return to office a week ago have garnered public and media attention, though such actions were also common under previous US presidents.

Friday’s deportation flight to Manaus was not part of Trump’s program of mass deportations ordered by Trump, but rather stemmed from a 2017 bilateral agreement, Brazilian officials said.

In a break with prior practice, however, the Trump administration has begun using military aircraft for some repatriation flights, with at least one landing in Guatemala this week.

To prepare for the deportations, several Latin American countries have launched programs to “welcome back” their citizens.

The Mexican government said it planned to open nine shelters for its citizens and three more for deported foreigners, under a scheme called “Mexico embraces you.”

President Claudia Sheinbaum added the government would provide humanitarian assistance to deported migrants from other countries before repatriating them.

Honduras, a central American country that is also a large source of migrants to the United States, said it was launching a program for returnees entitled “Brother, come home” which would include a “solidarity” payment, food and access to employment opportunities.

Colombia to block US deportation flights amid growing LatAm pushback

Colombia has announced that it will block deportation flights from the United States amid growing pushback from Latin American countries against the controversial practice.

The decision comes as countries in the region have voiced their opposition to the US government’s deportation policies, which have been criticized for separating families and violating human rights.

Colombia’s move to block deportation flights is a significant step in the region’s efforts to push back against the US government’s immigration policies. The country’s decision to take a stand against these practices sends a strong message that Latin American countries will not tolerate the violation of human rights.

This decision also highlights the growing solidarity among Latin American countries in standing up against unjust deportation practices. It is a reminder that the region is united in its commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of all individuals, regardless of their immigration status.

As more countries in Latin America join Colombia in blocking deportation flights, it is clear that the region is taking a stand against the injustices of the US government’s immigration policies. This united front against deportation practices sends a powerful message that human rights must be respected and upheld, no matter where individuals come from.
