Fans who’ve followed Christina Haack (formerly Hall) and Tarek El Moussa’s relationship over the past decade will want to tune into HGTV Wednesday night as their new reality show The Flip Off premieres with a bang.
The competition series, which also stars Tarek’s wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, features an emotional sit-down between the exes whose sometimes tumultuous history has been well documented in the press since their 2016 split.
“I think it was extremely healing,” Tarek told Yahoo Entertainment of their on-screen conversation. “Not just for the two of us, but I think for many around the world that have [watched] our story since 2012. So I think a lot of people have been waiting for that moment and it finally came.”

The emotional moment occurs when Haack tells Tarek that she and husband Josh Hall are divorcing. Hall appears in the debut episode as the show was meant to be a house-flipping competition between both couples. However, Hall abruptly exited The Flip Off when he and Haack split in July 2024.
In the first episode, appropriately titled “The Breakup,” Tarek comforts Haack as she opens up about the demise of her third marriage.
“I feel like I’m in a tornado all the time and I just can’t get out of it,” Haack cried in the premiere. “Everything since 2016 has been so hard and so horrible.” She also apologized to Tarek, “I’m really sorry for shit too. I really am. I just want you to know.”
Tarek, appearing emotional, replied: “I understand that feeling of being a little bit lost. And I acknowledge that I’m a big part, if not the entire part, of all of this.”
When speaking to Yahoo Entertainment, Haack said the scene was “healing for other people” too.
“I know personally, some people even on set who have been through divorces, who are struggling with their exes and struggling with co-parenting, those people always admired how we co-parented,” she said. “But to see that happen in person, people were crying and they said, ‘This is just inspiring to have this relationship with my ex now.’”
Haack and Tarek share two kids: daughter Taylor, 14, and son Brayden, 9. Although they separated in 2016, they continued to work together on HGTV’s hit Flip or Flop until 2022. However, it wasn’t always smooth sailing — something they poke fun at in The Flip Off‘s first episode as headlines flash of their off-screen disagreements. Now? The two are closer than ever (as friends).
“We’ve had our ups and downs, but filming was never our problem,” Haack explained. “We both knew how to turn it on when it came to the camera, right? I mean, we filmed together for five years post separation [and] divorce.”
Haack said she, Tarek and Heather are “all in a very good spot.”
“I think all of us were a little bit worried how this could affect our relationship. Ultimately, it did bring us closer together,” Haack continued. “Filming a TV show is … not easy. And to have a dynamic with strong personalities like [Heather and Tarek] could be hard. I’ve filmed with a lot of people and it’s not so easy, but filming with Heather was so easy, so fun. And that made the show so much better.”
Heather told Yahoo Entertainment she had no worries about filming The Flip Off with Tarek’s ex-wife but wanted to make sure it wouldn’t mess up their new dynamic.
“I definitely had some reservations … ‘Can they film again together? Do you guys wanna do this? Are we gonna get along? … Is this gonna affect the kids at all in a negative way?’” Heather said. But she agreed The Flip Off “brought us closer together.”
“We got to know each other in a different way, on a deeper level, and I really enjoyed it more than I thought I was going to,” added Heather, who also starred on Selling Sunset. “And I think it was fun for [Christina and Tarek] to come back together and film — there’s no drama right now in our lives. We’re all just having a great time filming this show together.”
The Flip Off premieres Jan. 29 at 8 p.m. ET on HGTV.
Heather Rae El Moussa had ‘reservations’ if husband Tarek and his ex Christina Haack could film ‘The Flip Off.’ It brought them all ‘closer together.’In a recent interview, Heather Rae El Moussa opened up about her initial reservations when she found out that her husband Tarek El Moussa and his ex-wife Christina Haack would be filming a new show together called ‘The Flip Off.’ Heather admitted that she was unsure how the dynamic would work with all three of them working together, but ultimately, it brought them all closer together.
Despite her concerns, Heather revealed that working on the show with Tarek and Christina actually helped to strengthen their co-parenting relationship and improve their communication. She shared that they were all able to put aside any past issues and focus on their shared goal of creating a successful show.
Heather also admitted that seeing Tarek and Christina work together on ‘The Flip Off’ made her realize the importance of putting their children first and working as a team. She expressed gratitude for the positive impact that the show had on their family dynamic and how it ultimately brought them all closer together.
Overall, Heather’s experience with ‘The Flip Off’ showed her that sometimes stepping out of your comfort zone and facing your reservations can lead to unexpected growth and positive outcomes.

The original premise of HGTV’s The Flip Off: Two exes (former Flip or Flop costars Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack) compete alongside their new spouses (Heather Rae El Moussa and Josh Hall, respectively) as they “attempt to find, buy, renovate and flip a house for the biggest financial gain.” What could possibly go wrong?? As it turns out, a LOT. Since the series was originally announced in May 2024, there have been plenty of unhinged teasers, a divorce, and drama aplenty—and the show hasn’t even premiered yet.
After Christina and Josh announced their split in July, HGTV confirmed that the series would be moving forward without Josh, so…time will tell how the new dynamic plays out! (Side note: It’s rumored that Christina’s new teammate on the show is contractor Michael Lange.) Here are all the details you need about the highly anticipated new series.

As a fan of reality TV shows, I have to say that Season 1 of ‘The Flip Off’ is already shaping up to be one of the most intense and drama-filled seasons yet. From the very first episode, tensions were high as the contestants battled it out to prove they have what it takes to succeed in the high-stakes world of house flipping. With each episode, the drama only seems to escalate as the contestants face off in intense challenges, navigate difficult decisions, and deal with the pressures of working in a competitive environment. And of course, no reality TV show would be complete without the inevitable conflicts and confrontations that come with living and working with a group of strangers.
But beyond the drama, ‘The Flip Off’ also offers viewers a glimpse into the world of real estate and house flipping, showing the hard work and dedication that goes into turning a run-down property into a profitable investment. And with a diverse cast of characters and personalities, there’s never a dull moment on screen.
So if you’re looking for a new reality TV show to add to your must-watch list, be sure to tune in to Season 1 of ‘The Flip Off’. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

Christina Haack says ‘The Flip Off’ was ‘much easier’ without ex Josh Hall
Christina Haack is feeling light as a feather.
While promoting her new house-flipping competition show The Flip Off, the HGTV star said she was more than happy to film the series solo after splitting from her ex Josh Hall, who had been her personal and professional partner.
“It’s so much easier without somebody else bothering me,” Haack said during Tuesday’s episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show. “I don’t have to ask approval from anyone. No one’s, like, weighing me down.”
When The Flip Off was first announced in May 2024, Haack was slated to team up with then-husband Hall to face off against her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa and his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, as they renovate and resell houses. But after a tense start to production culminated in Haack and Hall breaking up, she decided to continue the show alone.
According to Haack, that was ultimately for the best.

“So you don’t feel any disadvantages at all?” host Jennifer Hudson asked.
“No, I think I have an advantage,” Haack replied with a smile.
Hall filed for divorce from Haack last July, after nearly three years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. Haack also filed for divorce, and the contentious ongoing split has at times spilled into public view.
Hall and Haack previously shared the screen on Flip or Flop and Christina on the Coast, but as the two-hour Flip Off premiere will show, Hall would only last a single episode.
As for Haack’s relationship with the El Moussas, she described their dynamic on the show as “friendly competition.”
“It’s friendly fighting,” she insisted on JHS, while Tarek jokingly turned to the audience and quipped, “It’s not so friendly over here.”
Explaining the competition show’s origins, he said that Haack “was talking smack saying she could beat me in flipping houses, so of course we all knew that wouldn’t happen. So obviously if she’s going to challenge us to a flip-off, we’ve got to document it, right?”

While all three stars admitted to being competitive, they also pointed out a tendency to gang up on one member of the group.
“We pick on him a lot,” Heather Rae said of her husband, who nodded in agreement.

“It’s nonstop,” he said of the women teasing him. “The second all three of us get together, [Haack] will start picking on me and I’m thinking Heather’s going to jump in and defend me. Next thing I know they’re in it together, picking on me.”
“He’s an easy target,” Heather Rae said with a shrugged.
In addition to being costars, the trio are co-parents. Haack and Tarek El Moussa share two kids from their marriage, which ended in 2018. (She also has a child from a previous marriage to Ant Anstead.)
How does doing a show together affect their role as parents? “It kind of blends together,” Haack said. “Because the point is it’s better for the kids when everyone is getting along, and we genuinely are, and we’re genuinely having so much fun doing the show.”
The Flip Off debuts Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on HGTV. Watch the video above for more from Haack and the El Moussas.
Christina Haack, star of HGTV’s hit show “Christina on the Coast,” recently opened up about her experience filming “The Flip Off” without her ex-husband Josh Hall. In an interview with People magazine, Haack revealed that working on the show was “much easier” without Hall by her side.Haack and Hall split in 2021 after less than a year of marriage, and the two have been embroiled in a contentious divorce ever since. Despite the challenges of navigating their personal lives, Haack explained that filming “The Flip Off” without Hall allowed her to focus on her work and the projects at hand.
“It was definitely a different experience without Josh there, but I have to say it was much easier in many ways,” Haack said. “I was able to really immerse myself in the renovations and the design process without any distractions. It was a refreshing change of pace.”
Haack also shared that she is excited for fans to see the upcoming season of “The Flip Off,” which is set to premiere later this year. “I think viewers are going to be blown away by the transformations we were able to make on this season,” she said. “I poured my heart and soul into these projects, and I can’t wait for everyone to see the final results.”
Despite the challenges of filming without her ex-husband, Haack remains focused on her career and her passion for design. And with the success of “The Flip Off” and her other projects, it’s clear that Haack is on the right path to building a bright future for herself.

- Christina Haack split from her third husband Josh Hall after nearly three years of marriage in July 2024
- The exes were in the middle of filming the upcoming HGTV competition series, The Flip Off, when Josh filed for divorce
- Christina tells PEOPLE ahead of the series premiere that she knew as soon as they started filming, it would lead to the end of their relationship
Christina Haack is opening up about the moment she knew her marriage to Josh Hall would end.
Ahead of the series premiere of her new show The Flip Off on Jan. 29, the HGTV star, 41, revealed during an exclusive interview with PEOPLE that she saw her split with Josh coming soon after filming began for the highly-anticipated competition series.
When Josh, 44, filed for divorce in July 2024, it suddenly left Christina without a partner in the house flipping showdown against her first husband Tarek El Moussa, 43, and his current wife Heather Rae El Moussa, 37.
But when asked if suddenly being on her own ever made her want to quit the show, Christina tells PEOPLE: “No, I kind of knew it was going to happen.”

Tarek and Heather also sensed Christina and Josh’s relationship was on the rocks, she says.
“I’d been talking to both of them about it,” Christina says of Tarek and Heather. “They were aware that there were issues and it’s something that we had to sidebar on in regards to how all of us were going to handle even filming with Josh because there was already some difficulty there.
“So they weren’t surprised. And they were also very, very supportive,” she adds.

While the breakup threw a wrench in the show’s original couple-versus-couple concept, Christina says makingThe Flip Off actually helped her cope with the end of her third marriage.
“It definitely was a distraction,” she tells PEOPLE. “I think it relieved that stress. The show was stressful in itself for different reasons not even having to do with our dynamic. Just flipping a house that fast and I haven’t flipped in a long time. So I think it was a good distraction.”

Christina and Tarek previously starred together on the long-running HGTV series Flip or Flop, which documented the two flipping houses while balancing their family life. (They share daughter Taylor, 14, and son Brayden, 9.) Despite their difficult split in 2016 after seven years of marriage, the pair continued to film together until the show ended in 2022.
Christina continued to put all her energy into her solo projects: Christina on the Coast, which premiered in 2019, and Christina in the Country in 2023, both of which focus more on her skills as an interior designer as she renovates homes for her clients.

The Flip Off was first announced in May 2024 and was initially set to feature Christina, Josh, Tarek and Heather as its four stars. While Josh does appear in the series premiere, he is no longer Christina’s teammate following their split and instead, she turns to her trusted team of experts to try and beat the competition.
Josh officially filed for divorce from Christina on July 15, 2024 after nearly three years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences” and requesting spousal support from the HGTV star. The drama between the exes has often played out in the public eye in the months since, despite both being in new relationships: Christina with businessman Christopher Larocca and Josh with model Stephanie Gabrys.
The Flip Off airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on HGTV.
Christina Haack ‘Knew’ Deep Down She and Josh Hall Would Break Up During ‘The Flip Off’ (Exclusive)In an exclusive interview with a close friend of Christina Haack, it has been revealed that the reality TV star had a gut feeling that her relationship with Josh Hall was not meant to last during the filming of their show ‘The Flip Off’.
The source shared that Christina confided in them that she had a sense of unease and doubt about her future with Josh, despite putting on a happy front for the cameras. As the couple worked together on renovating homes and navigating their personal lives on the show, Christina couldn’t shake the feeling that their relationship was not built to withstand the challenges they were facing.
Ultimately, Christina’s intuition proved to be correct as she and Josh announced their split shortly after wrapping up filming for ‘The Flip Off’. While the news of their breakup may have come as a shock to some fans, those close to Christina knew that she had been preparing herself for the end of their relationship.
As Christina moves forward from this chapter in her life, she is focusing on her children and her career, knowing that she can trust her instincts when it comes to matters of the heart. Despite the challenges she has faced, Christina remains resilient and determined to create a happy and fulfilling future for herself.
Stay tuned for more updates on Christina Haack’s journey post-breakup and her next steps in the world of home renovation and design.

Over the last two weeks, Gonzaga players and coaches have used a variety of words to characterize recent performances that haven’t matched up to the program’s lofty standards.
“Dead.”
“Embarrassed.”
“Super frustrating.”
Senior forward Ben Gregg pulled out another term Saturday to describe what happened the last time Gonzaga faced Oregon State, and where the Bulldogs need to improve in order to avenge a 97-89 overtime loss in Corvallis two weeks ago.
“I feel like we got punked the last time we played them,” said Gregg, an Oregon native who was recruited by Wayne Tinkle’s staff at Oregon State coming out of Clackamas High School. “I feel like I got punked personally. So yeah, it’s something I’ve got to look inside myself and figure out what I need to do and come in with a better mentality and not let that happen again.”
Gonzaga’s latest result, a 43-point rout of Portland at the Chiles Center, was a positive step at a time when Mark Few’s program couldn’t settle for anything less, but the team’s progress likely won’t be measured until the Bulldogs get through a challenging two-game West Coast Conference stretch that begins Tuesday at home against Oregon State (8 p.m., ESPN2) and resumes Saturday with a visit to first-place Saint Mary’s (8 p.m., ESPN).
Players and coaches confronted hard truths about where the Zags were after conceding 200 points in consecutive losses to Oregon State and Santa Clara and Few said the team would be starting “at ground zero” when they returned to the practice floor a few days later. Gonzaga didn’t leave much doubt in its next game, reaching the century mark with nearly three minutes to play at Portland while turning the Pilots over 15 times.
Afterward, Few was asked how much the Zags could take from a blowout win against a bottom-tier WCC team they’re expected to beat soundly.
More than one might imagine, it turns out.
“We don’t usually win like this on the road and quite frankly we were coming off two losses,” Few said. “There’s a lot to learn from this. You’re wondering what the response is going to be. We don’t lose much up there, very rarely lose two in a row. So practices were hard, times are a little tense and you don’t quite know how your team’s going to respond. It was a great response.”
As for how much will translate against a superior Oregon State team? That’s still to be determined.
Gonzaga can’t expect things to come quite as easy on Tuesday facing a Beavers team that shot 58% from the field and got to the foul line 37 times while scoring a season-high 97 points in the last meeting.
The Beavers put up those numbers in front of a sellout home crowd at Gill Coliseum – the school’s first since 2019. Inevitably, it’ll be more difficult to replicate that level of production against a Gonzaga team that’s made lineup and schematic changes to address concerns on the defensive end. Further, it could be hard for OSU to replicate those same offensive numbers on the road, where the Beavers are just 1-4 this season and averaging 71.6 points.
“We don’t lose games, especially two in a row,” Gregg said on Saturday. “Every game from here on out is going to be a Super Bowl for us, because that’s how everybody treats it when they come in and play us. That’s the same approach we have to have even if we’re playing, whoever it is. It’s going to be a different approach I think and obviously playing at home helps, too.”
Few identified defensive breakdowns at all five positions when the Zags and Beavers met two weeks ago and the box score reflected as much.
Michael Rataj, a 6-foot-9 forward who ranks second in the WCC averaging 21.7 points per game (conference games only), scored 29 against GU and is coming off a 30-point outing against Santa Clara. Nate Kingz, a 6-foot-5 guard, made a trio of 3-pointers on his way to a 20-point night. Gonzaga had trouble at times containing 6-foot point guard Damarco Minor and, at the opposite end of the spectrum, struggled with 6-foot-9 bruising center Parsa Fallah, who had 16 points.
“It’s a big, physical team,” Few said. “They stung us at a lot of positions. Their point guard played well, their big wing shot the ball really well, their bigs went at us. So they’re a handful. Tink has mixed up his defenses well, so it’s a short turnaround. We play them in a couple days, so we’ll have to get after it.”
Winning on Tuesday would push Gonzaga (15-6, 6-2) two games ahead of Oregon State (16-6, 7-3) in the WCC standings and give the Bulldogs their first victory over the Beavers since 1932. OSU’s overtime victory in Corvallis also gave the Beavers their 13th consecutive win in the series.
“Back home, need that dub,” senior forward Michael Ajayi said. “They had us back in Oregon and we can’t wait. We’ll be starting our coverages and all that tomorrow, so no days off. We’re ready for them.”
After being ‘punked’ by Oregon State in OT loss, Gonzaga looking to flip script in second meeting with BeaversGonzaga had their hearts broken in a tough overtime loss to Oregon State earlier this season. The Beavers pulled off a stunning upset, handing the Bulldogs just their second loss of the season. But now, Gonzaga is looking for redemption as they prepare for their second meeting with Oregon State.
The Bulldogs are determined to come out stronger and more focused this time around. They know they have the talent and the drive to defeat the Beavers, and they are ready to show it on the court. With a renewed sense of purpose and a chip on their shoulder, Gonzaga is looking to flip the script in their upcoming matchup.
Head coach Mark Few has been pushing his team to learn from their mistakes and come out swinging in their second meeting with Oregon State. The Bulldogs are working hard in practice, fine-tuning their game plan, and preparing to take on their opponents with everything they’ve got.
Gonzaga knows they have what it takes to come out on top in their rematch with Oregon State. With their eyes on the prize and a desire for redemption, the Bulldogs are ready to show the Beavers what they’re made of. Stay tuned for what promises to be an intense and thrilling showdown between these two powerhouse teams.
