Louisiana governor to fly MAGA flag for Trump’s inauguration
The “Make America Great Again” flag will fly above the Louisiana governor’s mansion in honor of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, Republican Gov. Jeff Landry announced Friday.
“Today, under President Trump, begins a renaissance in this Nation,” Landry said in a written statement. “One where America and her people will always come first. In Louisiana, we think that is worthy of celebrating!”
The staunch Trump ally invited fellow Louisianans to raise MAGA flags on Inauguration Day. Landry had previously ordered flags on state buildings set at half-staff in honor of the 14 people killed in a New Year’s terror attack in New Orleans.
Trump’s inauguration fell on the day of mourning Landry initially set aside for British national Edward Pettifer, the stepson of Prince William’s former nanny. A Landry spokesperson told The Associated Press that state flags would now be lowered for Pettifer on Jan. 24.
Earlier this week, House Speaker Mike Johnson ordered flags at the U.S. Capitol to be raised to full height on Inauguration Day, interrupting a 30-day flag-lowering order after the death of former President Jimmy Carter last month. The flags will be lowered again the following day.
North Dakota Gov. Kelly Armstrong, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott have all proclaimed that they will fully raise U.S. flags in their states for the inauguration.
President Joe Biden’s Dec. 29 flag-lowering order affects federal government buildings and their grounds as well as U.S. embassies and other facilities abroad and runs through Jan. 28, Trump’s first week in office.
The incoming president has complained about flags flying low as he assumes office.
“Democrats are all ‘giddy’” about the notion that flags will be lowered on Inauguration Day, Trump wrote Jan. 3 on social media.
“Nobody wants to see this,” Trump wrote. He added that “no American can be happy about it. Let’s see how it plays out. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Trump has already taken to flying U.S. flags at full height from his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.

Shiba Inu is showing signs of recovery after a recent correction, with analysts predicting the potential for a momentous price rally anytime soon.
According to analyst “Real CryptoRoy” on TradingView, SHIB has likely reached a local bottom, positioning itself for a bullish move in the coming weeks.
Shiba Inu Correction Phase May Be Over as Recovery Signs Emerge
After recently reclaiming an eight-month high of $0.00003330 in December 2024, SHIB entered a correction phase. Its price dropped by approximately 44%, reaching $0.0000186, followed by a rebound to the $0.00002 region.
For several weeks, Shiba Inu maintained a tight trading range around $0.00002, struggling to establish strong upward momentum. While Shiba Inu briefly recovered to $0.000024 in the first week of January, it dipped again to below $0.00002.
While these price fluctuations were challenging for holders who bought at the top, they presented an attractive entry point for mid-term investors looking to capitalize on Shiba Inu’s potential rebound.
CryptoRoy acknowledged this perspective in his commentary. He pointed out that the price action on January 13, when Bitcoin dipped to $89K, was particularly significant. Despite Bitcoin creating a new yearly low under $90K, SHIB did not dip below its previous low.
For context, Shiba Inu dipped to $0.00001978 on this day but closed above $0.000021. According to CryptoRoy, this “higher low” indicates strength in Shiba Inu’s momentum.
He also noted that the daily close staying above key support levels suggests the correction may be nearing its end. Specifically, the analyst emphasized that these positive signals point to the possibility of an imminent upward movement.

Key Levels to Watch for SHIB Bullish Momentum
Accordingly, CryptoRoy identified $0.000025 as a crucial resistance level for SHIB in the short term. If SHIB can break above this threshold and maintain its momentum, it could open the door for a retest of recent highs around $0.000033.
Furthermore, CryptoRoy suggested that a breakout past this resistance with strong volume could trigger more significant rallies to new highs.
However, CryptoRoy cautioned that the broader crypto market, led by Bitcoin, remains a key factor in SHIB’s performance. Since Bitcoin’s price action often influences altcoins, he advises traders to closely monitor BTC and its dominance (BTC.D) to gauge market shifts.
Indeed, the crypto market has seen improved sentiment with Bitcoin’s recent movement. Bitcoin reclaimed the $100K mark for the second time in 2025 yesterday. This bullish sentiment has spilled over to Shiba Inu, which traded at a fresh weekly high of $0.00002282 today.

Capitals have retooled roster on fly while Ovechkin closes in on Gretzky
Ovechkin’s age appeared to be catching up to him when he was held without a point in the four-game loss to the Rangers in the playoffs last season. Washington had barely qualified for the postseason as the second wild card in the Eastern Conference and some wondered if it were his last hurrah in the postseason.
Though injuries, particularly on defense, hampered the Capitals against the Rangers, their management — headed by former GM and still president of hockey operations Brian MacLellan and Patrick, promoted from assistant GM to GM on July 8 — was keenly aware they needed to continue revamping the roster regardless of the outcome of the series.
The process actually began following a first-round loss to the Florida Panthers in the 2022 playoffs. With the remaining core of the 2018 Stanley Cup championship team aging, Washington knew it needed to change its approach.
“We kind of said if there’s younger players available, we should be taking a harder look at it,” Patrick said. “In the past, it was more adding veteran pieces to a younger group, and I think it became the opposite of that.”
When Dylan Strome, who was 25 at the time, became an unrestricted free agent after he wasn’t given a qualifying offer by the Chicago Blackhawks, the Capitals signed him to a one-year, $3.5 million contract on July 14, 2022, and then a five-year, $25 million contract on Feb. 3, 2023 to lock him up long term. Strome has developed into a first-line center, succeeding Nicklas Backstrom, who stopped playing last season because of recurring issues with his hip, and leads Washington with 41 points (11 goals, 30 assists) in 38 games this season.
Next came defenseman Rasmus Sandin, who was 22 when he was acquired in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Feb. 28, 2023. The price for Sandin, who plays regularly in the Capitals top four, was defenseman Erik Gustafsson, who was a pending unrestricted free agent, and the Boston Bruins’ first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, which they had acquired as part of the return for trading defenseman Dmitry Orlov and forward Garnet Hathaway, each potential UFAs.
“You sometimes think you don’t get good young players unless you’re drafting high,” Patrick said, “But as you can see with guys like that, there are reasons why teams are looking to move guys like that, and we were able to take advantage of that and hopefully will continue to do that in that future.”

3 Maharashtra Teens Plot Fake Abduction To Fly To South Korea To Meet BTS Members
The dream of meeting BTS in South Korea took an unexpected turn for three young girls from a village in Maharashtra, as they staged their own kidnapping in hopes of funding their journey. However, their plan unraveled when police intervened, swiftly bringing the dramatic episode to an end.

The girls – one aged 11 and the other two aged 13 – are residents of Dharashiv district. On Friday, they devised a plan to reach Pune, hoping to find work and earn enough money to finance their dream trip to South Korea, according to an official from the Omerga police station. Their efforts were cut short when police intercepted them mid-journey. After receiving counseling, the girls were safely reunited with their families.
The incident came to light on December 27, when Dharashiv police received a call on their helpline reporting that three girls had been forcibly taken away in a school van from Omerga taluka.

Responding swiftly, the police traced the call to a woman traveling on a state transport bus bound for Pune. Officers tracked the bus as it passed through the Mohol area in Solapur district.
Teens wanted to travel to South Korea to meet BTS
In coordination with Mohol police and a local shopkeeper at the Mohol bus stand, officers intercepted the bus and located the three girls. They were escorted to the nearest police station, where their parents later joined them.
Upon questioning, the girls admitted they had staged the incident in hopes of reaching Pune, finding work, and saving enough to fulfill their dream of traveling to South Korea to meet BTS.
Following the revelation, police counseled the minors and their families, highlighting the risks involved in such actions.

In a bizarre turn of events, three teenagers from Maharashtra have been caught plotting a fake abduction in order to fly to South Korea and meet their favorite K-pop band, BTS. The teenagers, aged between 15 and 17, hatched a plan to fake their own kidnapping and demand ransom money from their families to fund their trip to South Korea.
The teenagers had reportedly become obsessed with BTS and were determined to meet the band members in person. They believed that faking their abduction was the only way to make their dream a reality. However, their plan quickly unraveled when one of the teenagers accidentally left a note detailing their plot at home.
The teenagers were apprehended by local authorities before they could carry out their fake abduction. They have since been reprimanded by their parents and are now facing disciplinary action at school.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of obsession and the lengths some fans will go to in order to meet their idols. It also highlights the importance of parents and guardians being vigilant and aware of their children’s online activities and interests.
