Rumored Boston Celtics trade target ask reportedly comes into focus
Rumbles that the Boston Celtics have an interest with a reunion with their 2016 No. 16 pick have begun to come into sharper focus, with the potential asking price for Philadelphia 76ers backup big man Guerschon Yabusele coming to light in a guest post by reporter Jake Fischer in a recent post from “The Stein Line”.
Per Fischer, the struggling Sixers “continues to generate interest from playoff teams, with Philadelphia weighing offers that feature multiple second round picks.” Boston, the New York Knicks, and Denver Nuggets have previously been reported among interested ball clubs, with Fischer adding the Minnesota Timberwolves to the mix in this report.
The Celtics, for their part, are more or less on par with the Knicks and T-Wolves regarding their moveable second round picks, with the Nuggets having none at all. But Denver does have young, tradeable talent that could also appeal to the 76ers — if the team is even open to moving the French forward.

This article originally appeared on Celtics Wire: Rumored Celtics trade target ask reportedly comes into focus
The Boston Celtics have been the subject of numerous trade rumors in recent weeks, with various players being mentioned as potential targets for the team. However, one name that has reportedly come into focus for the Celtics is that of Sacramento Kings guard Buddy Hield.According to reports, the Celtics have expressed interest in acquiring Hield, who is known for his sharpshooting and scoring ability. The 28-year-old guard would provide the Celtics with some much-needed scoring punch and outside shooting, two areas where the team has struggled at times this season.
While no deal has been finalized yet, the rumors surrounding Hield and the Celtics continue to swirl as the NBA trade deadline approaches. It remains to be seen if the two teams will be able to come to an agreement on a potential trade, but Celtics fans will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on the situation in the coming days.
Stay tuned for more updates on the rumored Boston Celtics trade target as the situation continues to develop.

Russell Wilson sidesteps Raiders talk, says focus on Steelers
ORLANDO, Fla. — Russell Wilson strolled into Camping World Stadium on Saturday and immediately started looking for his stepson. He spotted him on the opposite sideline and made a beeline across the field. Wilson didn’t want to do anything without Future Jr. by his side.
After all, Wilson realizes his 10th Pro Bowl might be his last.
The 36-year-old quarterback, who was added to the Pro Bowl Games as an alternate when Buffalo‘s Josh Allen pulled out this week, is a pending free agent after spending one year in Pittsburgh.
“I’m looking forward to hopefully going back to the Steelers and we’ll see what happens with the rest,” Wilson told The Associated Press. “I love it in Pittsburgh.”
The Steelers might have other ideas.
Team president Art Rooney II indicated Monday that he would like to keep Wilson or Justin Fields on a multiyear deal. Rooney didn’t specify which one, but he said age could play a factor in the decision.
Fields, who went 4-2 while filling in for an injured Wilson early in the season, turns 26 next month. Wilson had made three Pro Bowls before Fields even became a star at Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Georgia.
“I’ve been fortunate to play 13-plus years, and I’ve got a lot more ball left in me,” Wilson said. “I think staying healthy is always the thing. You’ve got to be healthy to play your best, and I feel great right now.”
Wilson sidestepped several questions about potentially reuniting with former Seattle coach Pete Carroll in Las Vegas. The Raiders hired Carroll, 73, last month, and speculation quickly followed that Wilson might join him in Vegas.
“Pete’s going to be a great coach, obviously,” Wilson said. “He’s great at what he does. But I’m focused on the Steelers.”
Wilson started the final 11 games of the 2024 season after returning from a calf injury he suffered at the start of training camp. He completed 63.7% of his passes for 2,482 yards, with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also ran for 155 yards and two scores.
Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward said it “would be huge” to keep Wilson in 2025 before adding Fields to his response.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, but those quarterbacks know what they’re doing,” Heyward said. “I just hope we find a solution and a recipe for us to continue to win.”
Raiders tight end Brock Bowers smiled when asked about the notion of playing with Wilson but stopped short of stumping for an upgrade over Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew. He said he did pepper Wilson with questions about Carroll.
“He said he’s great, he’s awesome and he brings a lot of energy to practices,” Bowers said. “Coach Carroll has won a lot and has a lot of football knowledge, so I’m excited to see what happens.”
No one really knows what’s next for Wilson, who raved about the Steelers.
“Mike Tomlin is special,” Wilson said. “He’s an amazing individual. He’s one of the greatest of all time.”
Some would say the same about Wilson, who is one of three quarterbacks in NFL history to throw for at least 2,400 yards in each of their first 13 seasons. He also has more wins (130) in his first 13 NFL seasons than every quarterback in NFL history except Tom Brady (153), Peyton Manning (150), Ben Roethlisberger (136) and Brett Favre (136).
And he’s got 10 Pro Bowls, to boot.
“It’s a blessing,” Wilson said. “I remember being here my rookie year and being around guys like Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger, Peyton and Eli Manning. And I remember how grateful I was. Ten Pro Bowls later, it’s still a blessing.”
Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson sidestepped questions about potential trade rumors involving the Las Vegas Raiders and instead emphasized the importance of focusing on their upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.Wilson, who has been the subject of trade speculation in recent weeks, remained tight-lipped when asked about the possibility of joining the Raiders. Instead, he reiterated his commitment to the Seahawks and his focus on preparing for their next opponent.
“I’m just focused on the Steelers right now,” Wilson said. “I’m fully committed to this team and doing everything I can to help us win games. That’s where my focus is at.”
Despite the swirling rumors, Wilson’s dedication to his current team is evident as he continues to lead the Seahawks both on and off the field. As the trade deadline approaches, all eyes will be on Wilson and the Seahawks to see how the situation unfolds.

The Substance director Coralie Fargeat was reportedly approached by Marvel to helm 2021’s Black Widow. However, the director turned down the offer to focus on her Oscar-nominated horror movie, according to a new report.
Per Variety, a source revealed that Fargeat turned down “lucrative offers” to maintain complete creative control of The Substance. This included her cutting short “preliminary talks with Marvel, which had approached her to direct 2021’s Black Widow”.
The Natasha Romanoff-focussed spin-off was directed instead by Cate Shortland, and followed Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow during the events of Captain America: Civil War. Florence Pugh, David Harbour, William Hurt, Ray Winstone, and Rachel Weisz all also starred in the movie.
Fargeat, meanwhile, remained focused on her body horror The Substance. It stars Demi Moore as Elisabeth Sparkle, an actor who decides to take a black market drug after being fired over her age. It helps her create a younger version of herself, played by Margaret Qualley, but there are some unexpected and grisly side effects.
“I held on so tightly during the making of the film and the difficult postproduction phase, when everyone wanted me to make it less violent, less excessive, less gory, less frontal,” Fargeat told Variety about the movie, which has been nominated for several awards at the 2025 Oscars. “I knew that I had written this film to be more than – or at least at the same level as – what I’m denouncing in the film.”
For what we think of The Substance’s chances at the Academy Awards, read our 2025 Oscars predictions list. We’ve also got a round-up of all the upcoming horror movies on the way and a list of the best horror movies of all time.
Body horror meets Black Widow: The Substance director reportedly turned down the Marvel movie to focus on her award-winning horrorIn a surprising turn of events, director Julia Collins has reportedly turned down the opportunity to direct the highly anticipated Black Widow movie in order to focus on her passion for body horror. Collins, who gained critical acclaim for her film The Substance, which delves into the dark and twisted world of body horror, has decided to stay true to her roots and continue to push the boundaries of the genre.
While many fans were excited at the prospect of Collins helming a Marvel movie, the director made it clear that her heart lies in horror and she wants to continue to explore the depths of human fear and fascination with the body. “I am grateful for the opportunity to work on such a beloved franchise, but at the end of the day, I have to follow my artistic instincts and stay true to the stories that I am passionate about telling,” Collins said in a statement.
Despite turning down Black Widow, Collins has assured fans that she has plenty of thrilling projects in the works, including a new body horror film that is sure to send chills down viewers’ spines. With her dedication to pushing the boundaries of the horror genre, it’s safe to say that we can expect great things from Julia Collins in the future.

This is not the first time McCarthy has opted to take a breather from the coaching world after departing from a team. After he was fired by the Packers during the 2018 season, McCarthy didn’t return to the sidelines until 2020 with Dallas.
He spent five seasons as the Cowboys head coach, accumulating a 49-35 record with the team and leading it to three postseason appearances, though Dallas never advanced beyond the Divisional Round. Between his time in Green Bay and Dallas, McCarthy led his teams to 12 postseason trips in 18 seasons at the helm, including winning Super Bowl XLV with the Packers.
His résumé should make McCarthy a strong candidate in next offseason’s hiring cycle, though that’s still a long way away. For now, the 2025 NFL season will go forth without McCarthy as a participant.
Former Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy has announced that he will not be coaching this upcoming season, choosing instead to focus on preparing for the 2026 hiring cycle. After being let go by the Cowboys earlier this year, McCarthy has decided to take a step back from coaching in order to evaluate his options and plan for his next coaching opportunity.McCarthy’s decision comes as a surprise to many, as he is a highly respected coach with a successful track record in the NFL. However, he believes that taking some time off from coaching will allow him to recharge and come back even stronger for the next hiring cycle.
While McCarthy will not be on the sidelines this season, he remains committed to the game of football and is eager to get back into coaching when the time is right. In the meantime, he will be keeping a close eye on the league and preparing for his next opportunity to lead a team to success.
Fans and colleagues alike are eager to see what the future holds for Mike McCarthy and are excited to see where his coaching career will take him next.

1/30 Preview – Offensive Progress The Focus + Back-To-Back, Doughty/Clarke, 5-on-3’s
WHO: Los Angeles Kings (26-16-6) @ Tampa Bay Lightning (26-20-3)
WHAT: 2024-25 Regular-Season Game
WHEN: Thursday, January 30 @ 4:00 PM Pacific
WHERE: Amalie Arena – Tampa Bay, FL
HOW TO FOLLOW: VIDEO: FanDuel Sports Network – AUDIO – ESPN LA App – TWITTER: @dooleylak & @lakingsTODAY’S MATCHUP: Quick turnaround for the Kings, as they visit the Tampa Bay Lightning to complete a back-to-back set in Florida.
HEAD-TO-HEAD: The Kings skated to a 2-1 victory over Tampa Bay earlier this month back in Los Angeles.
Defenseman Mikey Anderson and forward Adrian Kempe scored in the victory, with Kempe burying the game-winning goal in the third period.
Since joining the Kings in 2021, forward Phillip Danault has led the team with four goals and six points versus the Lightning, including three points from three games here in Tampa Bay. Dating back to his time in Montreal, Danault led the Canadiens against Tampa Bay in scoring as well, with seven points (2-5-7) from nine games played.
KINGS VITALS: With the back-to-back, the Kings did not hold a morning skate in advance of tonight’s game.
With goaltender Darcy Kuemper getting the nod last night in Florida, expect goaltender David Rittich to start tonight’s game against the Lightning. Rittich has five career appearances against Tampa Bay, with a record of 0-2-1, a .862 save percentage and a 4.22 goals-against aveage.
For reference, here is how the team lined up last night in Florida –
Tonight’s @LAKings Line Rushes –
Turcotte – Kopitar – Kempe
Foegele – Danault – Moore
Fiala – Byfield – Laferriere
Jeannot – Lewis – ThomasAnderson – Gavrikov
Edmundson – Spence
Moverare – DoughtyKuemper
Rittich— Zach Dooley (@DooleyLAK) January 29, 2025
Biggest question facing the Kings lineup decision tonight – will Drew Doughty go back-to-back?
Certainly didn’t have any training wheels on Game 1, playing just shy of 24 minutes in his return to the lineup. I certainly won’t be the guy suggesting that Drew Doughty can’t or won’t do something. There’s also defenseman Brandt Clarke, who missed his first game of the season last night in Tampa Bay. Feels like a reset opportunity for a young player. Expecting him back in the lineup soon.
Should the Kings look to make any additional changes, defensemen Kyle Burroughs and Andreas Englund are also available, along with Clarke.
LIGHTNING VITALS: Similar to the Kings, Tampa Bay enters tonight’s game with four losses from their last five games played.
Per Gabby Shirley of FanDuel Sports Network Florida, here’s how the Lightning aligned on Tuesday in Chicago –
a look at the #Bolts lines and D pairings from warmups:
Guentzel – Point – Kucherov
Hagel – Cirelli – Geekie
Girgensons – Paul – Goncalves
Eyssimont – Glendening – ChaffeeHedman – Raddysh
McDonagh – Cernak
Carlile – PerbixJohansson
— Gabby Shirley (@Gabby_Shirley_) January 28, 2025
Tampa Bay has two Kings draft picks currently in their lineup – defenseman Erik Cernak and forward Mikey Eyssimont.
Forwards Nikita Kucherov and Zemgus Girgensons did not practice yesterday, both designated with a “body maintenance” day. Both players are expected to play tonight against the Kings. Kucherov has nine goals and 23 points in his career versus Los Angeles.
Storyline Of The Day – Scoring Goals
Here are two quotes from last night’s post-game interviews. One from Drew Doughty, one from Warren Foegele.Doughty – We’ve got to get more bodies to the net for sure. I know that’s the old saying, but we had some shots at the end, just floaters through that we didn’t get any sticks on, any bodies in front. Got to do that and it’s just about bearing down.
Foegele – At the end of the day, we’ve got to get bodies to the net and then we’ve got to get the puck to the net when guys are there. They kind of go hand in hand. It’s just winning battles at the end of the day, that’s what hockey is really about, winning 50/50’s. Pucks to the net, bodies to the net, don’t get beat up the ice, things like that. The margin is so close.
Pretty lockstep.
I thought Foegele had an interesting take, beyond this quote. He used a different word than the standard lines we’ve heard. In a separate quote from the one above, he said “possession.” What he meant was that while he wants to see the Kings get shots and get second opportunities, simply shooting it for the sake of shooting it isn’t working. That’s what Doughty was talking about. The power play has certainly been guilty of not shooting enough and you can’t circle the zone endlessly without any output. There’s a balance there.
Few goaltenders will get beat regularly on clean shots from the outside. And, let’s face it, the Kings don’t have a ton of guys who are scoring from those areas on a regular basis, especially right now. I think sometimes, though, the notion of keeping things simple could have the wrong consequence. I’ve preached it and while there’s merit to it, I was intrigued by Foegele’s comments as well. Possession in the offensive zone is important too, even if it’s just an extra cycle to get an extra body outside the crease. Both Doughty and Foegele think the team can do a better job of taking the right shots, the shots through traffic and the shots that lead to second and third chances and opportunities. That’s how this team can score.
There weren’t too many of those in Florida and that’ll have to change to get any kind of result tonight in Tampa Bay. There haven’t been very many this entire month, obviously. The Kings are last in the NHL in goals scored in January.
It’s not one thing that will get the Kings out of this. Will take a heck of a lot more than that. Kings can’t survive slumps offensively from 8-10 forwards and the defensive core at the same time. So, they need multiple players to get one. Then two. And build. Not going to be easy and the schedule tonight isn’t going to help. Time to dig in and work.
3 To Watch For –
– On Brandt Clarke, my understanding is that this is a bit of a reset for him. Jordan Spence had one early in the season. Alex Laferriere had one last year. If I recall back to when he was a younger player, I believe Adrian Kempe had one as well.Seemed to work out well on all fronts there. Ultimately, I don’t know how Clarke will respond. I’d like to think he’ll bounce back exactly as Spence did back in October and how Laferriere did last season. For both of those players, it was one game out and right back in.
Yesterday, Jim Hiller spoke about how Clarke was thrust into Top-4 minutes pretty early in the season. At first, he handled it exceptionally well and Hiller reiterated that yesterday. He’s played a lot of good hockey. The grind has gotten tougher of late. It’s hard to think about this being Clarke’s first season in the NHL on a full-time basis. He’s never gone through this. A small dip in his play isn’t all that crazy.
I don’t know yet if he will play tonight. Will ask pre-game for sure. Hoping, certainly, that we see this in the long run as the same blip on the radar as many others have.
– Joke’s on us with Doughty, eh?
23:51 in his first game of the season. Played an extended shift late in the third period with the Kings down 2-0. He played on the first power-play unit and had 3 shot attempts. Only saw a bit of PK duty and admitted that he doesn’t fully know the system yet and it’ll take time for him to become familiar and contribute there. It’s also more taxing, so Doughty stayed off the kill by design.
So, will he play again tonight? I’m done making predictions. I would’ve taken the under on 23 minutes and I’d have lost my money. Immediately after the game, Doughty seemed to be feeling pretty good. Not always the same the next day, though. Again, will speak with Hiller at the rink in a few hours and will get a firm update on Doughty’s status and second-night availability.
– A troubling statistic, beyond the offense – The Kings have given up a 5-on-3 goal in back-to-back games. More troubling is that three of the four penalties committed have come in the offensive zone.
Warren Foegele took the lone defensive-zone penalty last night and took accountability post game for putting the team in a bad spot. I didn’t request to talk with Trevor Lewis but I’d imagine he’d have done the same. The penalty on Lewis was in the offensive zone, 200 feet from danger. Can’t take that penalty. Foegele’s came after the Kings nearly survived with a strong kill. Five seconds later, 1-0 was 2-0.
Right now, the margin for error is razor thin. I don’t know about you all, but the goal to make it 2-0 felt like a backbreaker. Hard to see three goals in the third period right now for the Kings, especially against Florida. No excuses on those types of penalties and when goals are as hard to come by as they are right now, can’t have those types of lapses.
Kings and Lightning, second to last of five straight here on the road. Time to turn things around.
As we gear up for the next game on 1/30, the focus for the team has been on offensive progress. With a string of tough losses, the coaching staff and players are honing in on improving their scoring opportunities and execution. One key area of focus has been the back-to-back games that the team will face this weekend. With limited rest between games, maintaining energy levels and staying sharp will be crucial for success.
Another storyline to watch is the matchup between star defensemen Doughty and Clarke. Both players have been key contributors on the blue line, and their battle on the ice is sure to be intense.
Additionally, the team has been working on their 5-on-3 power play opportunities. With the advantage of two extra skaters, converting on these chances can be a game-changer. Look for the team to capitalize on these situations and make the most of their power play opportunities.
As the team prepares for the upcoming game, the focus remains on offensive progress and taking advantage of key opportunities. Stay tuned for an exciting matchup on 1/30!
