Russell Wilson dodges Raiders questions, says he remains ‘focused on the Steelers’
Russell Wilson’s media availability at the 2025 Pro Bowl Games included questions about his future and specifically about a possible reunion with Pete Carroll.
Wilson, who recently concluded his first season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, enjoyed his most fruitful seasons in the NFL under Carroll, who was recently named the Raiders‘ new head coach. Carroll and the 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback spent a decade together in Seattle and helped deliver the franchise’s lone Super Bowl win in 2013.
“Pete’s going to be a great coach, obviously,” Wilson told The Associated Press. “He’s great at what he does. But I’m focused on the Steelers.”
Wilson has been consistent in his desire to return to the Steelers in 2025. The feeling is mutual, as Steelers president Art Rooney II has expressed interest in re-signing both Wilson and fellow quarterback Justin Fields. Rooney said that re-signing both is unlikely, however, assuming that both players view themselves as starting quarterbacks. The Steelers will likely sign either Wilson or Fields and will look to do so before free agency begins early next month.
If he isn’t re-signed by Pittsburgh, the Raiders would certainly make sense for the 36-year-old Wilson. The Raiders need stability at quarterback, and Wilson has tons of experience playing under the 73-year-old Carroll. If anything, Wilson could be a good bridge quarterback for Las Vegas.
While that may end up being an option for Wilson, he is hoping to run it back with the Steelers, who started 10-3 last season before losing their last five games, including a 28-14 loss to the Ravens in the AFC wild-card round. His repertoire this past season may not have included a lot of intermediate passes, but Wilson did continue to have success throwing his patented moon balls, including his game-winning touchdown pass to Mike Williams against the Commanders in Week 10.
“I’m looking forward to hopefully going back to the Steelers and we’ll see what happens with the rest,” Wilson said. “I love it in Pittsburgh.”
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is remaining tight-lipped about the rumors swirling around his potential trade to the Las Vegas Raiders. During a recent press conference, Wilson deflected questions about his future with the team, instead stating that he is fully focused on their upcoming matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.Wilson’s refusal to address the trade speculation has only fueled speculation that a move could be in the works. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Wilson’s priority is clearly on helping the Seahawks secure a win against the Steelers.
As the trade deadline looms, all eyes will be on Wilson and whether he will remain with the Seahawks or be dealt to another team. In the meantime, fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for the star quarterback.

‘I’m focused on the Steelers’
Wilson, who signed a one-year deal with the Steelers, went 6-5 as the starter this last season. He missed the first six games of the season due to a calf injury, but when he took the starting job from Justin Fields, Wilson gave the offense more punch with his ability to launch the ball deep. However, the Steelers’ offense went cold in mid-December, with Pittsburgh failing to score over 20 points in its final five games, including the postseason, all of which resulted in losses.
This week, Steelers owner and president Art Rooney said that it’s “probably unlikely” the team will keep both Wilson and Fields on the roster in 2025.
With Wilson’s former Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll taking the head coaching job with the Las Vegas Raiders, the coach said on Wednesday that it was too early to tell if Wilson could be an option at QB for the Silver and Black.
A couple days after Carroll’s comments, Wilson didn’t want to talk about a potential reunion as he repeated his desire to be with Pittsburgh.
“Pete’s going to be a great coach, obviously,” Wilson said. “He’s great at what he does. But I’m focused on the Steelers.”
Despite playing only 11 games in 2024, Wilson threw for 2,482 passing yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions in his first season with Pittsburgh. The 36-year-old Wilson, a Super Bowl-winning quarterback with Carroll and the ‘Hawks, has no plans to retire after 13 seasons.
“I’ve been fortunate to play 13-plus years, and I’ve got a lot more ball left in me,” Wilson said. “I think staying healthy is always the thing. You’ve got to be healthy to play your best, and I feel great right now.”
Whether Wilson re-signs with the Steelers or joins another squad remains to be seen. But he made it clear that he would like to play in 2025, and where he’d like to be.
I’m focused on the SteelersAs a die-hard Steelers fan, my attention is solely on the black and gold. With the NFL season in full swing, I find myself eagerly counting down the days until game day. The excitement of watching my favorite team take the field, the adrenaline rush of each play, and the anticipation of a victory keep me glued to the screen.
I proudly don my Steelers gear, from jerseys to hats to flags waving outside my home. I immerse myself in Steelers news, stats, and analysis, always staying up-to-date on the latest developments. Whether it’s a thrilling win or a tough loss, I ride the emotional rollercoaster of the season with unwavering loyalty.
As I cheer on Big Ben, JuJu, and the rest of the squad, I feel a sense of pride in being part of Steeler Nation. The camaraderie among fans, the traditions, and the history of the franchise all contribute to the unique bond we share.
So as the Steelers march towards another championship, I’ll be right there with them every step of the way, cheering them on with unwavering support. Here we go, Steelers, here we go!

Rising Stars Selection ‘Means A Lot’ To Dalton Knecht But More Focused On Lakers Season
LeBron James and Anthony Davis representing the Los Angeles Lakers during All-Star Weekend is pretty much a foregone conclusion most years. But in 2025, they won’t be alone as rookie Dalton Knecht was named to the player pool for the 2025 Rising Stars Challenge.
Knecht was one of 10 rookies selected to participate in the event during All-Star Weekend. The Rising Stars Challenge has the four-team, mini-tournament format that was adopted for the All-Star Game itself this year so there is a chance that Knecht could face off with his Lakers teammates should his squad be successful.
But while Knecht is proud of this accomplishment, the Lakers rookie remains more focused on the season itself and his team’s success, as seen on Spectrum SportsNet:
“It means a lot, it’s a good accomplishment. At the same time, it’s just the Rising Stars game. I’m more focused on the season than anything.”
Knecht has shown that, while confident in his abilities, he is a humble person who just wants to do anything he can to help his team win games. So it’s really no surprise that the Rising Stars Challenge isn’t something he’s really focused on, especially as the Lakers continue to try and get better as a team.
The rookie is simply focused on trying to be the best version of Knecht that he can be:
“Just try to be the best version of myself on the court. Space the floor, shoot the ball, rebound and just like that. Try to learn off my vets, really. That’s about it.”
The highs and lows of being a rookie in the NBA are gonna come, but Knecht continues to put in the work and try to contribute any way he can. He has quietly been playing well recently and had his best offensive night in weeks against the Philadelphia 76ers, finishing with 24 points while knocking down 5-of-8 from 3-point range.
His abilities as a shooter and scorer are something the Lakers need and right now that is far more important to Knecht than any All-Star Weekend festivities.
Lakers’ Anthony Davis to be re-evaluated in one week with abdominal strain
The Lakers will be even more in need of Dalton Knecht’s scoring as the team will be without superstar Anthony Davis for at least a week.
Davis left the Lakers’ loss to the Sixers early because of the injury and an MRI confirmed an abdominal muscle strain. The Lakers announced they will re-evaluate Davis in a week, but with the All-Star break coming up soon, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the team kept him out until then to ensure he is fully healed for the stretch run.

Dalton Knecht, a rising star in the basketball world, recently expressed his gratitude for being selected as part of the Rising Stars team. However, Knecht made it clear that his main focus is on the upcoming Lakers season.“It means a lot to be recognized as a rising star in the league,” Knecht said in a recent interview. “But my main focus right now is on helping the Lakers have a successful season. We have a talented team and I want to do everything I can to contribute to our success.”
Knecht’s dedication to the Lakers is evident in his work ethic and commitment to improving his game. He has been putting in extra hours in the gym, working on his shooting and conditioning, to ensure he is ready to contribute when the season starts.
“I am grateful for the recognition, but I know that my success is dependent on the success of my team,” Knecht added. “I am fully committed to doing whatever it takes to help the Lakers win games and compete for a championship.”
With Knecht’s talent and determination, there is no doubt that he will continue to shine as a rising star in the league. And with his focus squarely on the Lakers season, fans can expect big things from him in the upcoming year.

Trump signs several orders focused on reshaping US military
Bernd Debusmann JrBBC News, White House
Thomas MackintoshBBC News, London
Reuters
President Trump vowed on the campaign trail to cut down on equal opportunity programmes and bring about major changes to the US military US President Donald Trump has signed several executive orders focused on reshaping the US military.
One order signed late on Monday bans diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in the military. It will remove the use of race- or sex-based preferences in the armed forces, the Defense Department and the Homeland Security Department.
Another reinstates more than 8,000 service members who were discharged for refusing to get the Covid-19 vaccine.
The White House added that a third executive order tasks officials with formulating a policy on transgender troops. The action does not immediately ban transgender service members.
A fourth order mandates a process to develop an “American Iron Dome” – similar to the one used by Israel in the Middle East; while the White House says a proclamation has been signed to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
The executive orders were signed by Trump on board Air Force One.
Removing DEI programmes from within the federal government was one of Trump’s central campaign promises – and one he has moved swiftly to implement upon taking office last week.
DEI programmes aim to promote participation in workplaces by people from a range of backgrounds.
Their backers say they address historical underrepresentation and discrimination against certain groups, including racial minorities, but critics say such programmes can themselves be discriminatory.
The Trump administration claims that removing these initiatives from the US military will help boost recruitment levels.
Defence officials have previously said that the military services collectively missed recruitment goals by 41,000 personnel in the 2023 fiscal year.
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has promised to eliminate similar initiatives from the military, telling reporters on Monday that “there are more executive orders coming”.
Removing DEI from the military
The order entitled “restoring America’s fighting force” includes a ban on what the administration considers discriminatory race or sex-based preferences by any branch of the military, Department of Defense or the Department of Homeland Security.
Additionally, any remaining DEI-related bureaucracy will be eliminated from those departments., the document said.
Within 90 days of the executive order being signed, the President says the Secretary of Defense will carry out “an internal review that documents actions taken in pursuit of DEI initiatives, including all instances of race and sex discrimination and activities designed to promote a race- or sex-based preferences system”.
It remains unclear what specific programmes will be affected by the order.
Watch: Pete Hegseth supports removing DEI from US Defence Department and continuing mass deportation In a December 2020 report, the department’s Board on Diversity and Inclusion recommended a number of steps, including the removal of “aptitude test barriers that adversely impact diversity” and incorporating the “value of cultivating diversity and inclusion” into leadership and professionalism curricula.
Over the weekend, it was reported that the US Air Force was reviewing material on the role of black and female pilots during World War Two from its training programmes as part of an effort to comply with Trump’s DEI orders.
But on Sunday, military officials clarified that certain curricula will not be removed from basic military training.
During the campaign in June, Trump said the military’s purpose is “to win wars, not to be woke”.
Hegseth told reporters on Monday that the job of the military is “lethality and readiness and war fighting”.
“Military training will be focused on the readiness of what our troops in the field need to deter our enemies,” he added.
The move forms part of a larger, government-wide effort to remove DEI practices from the federal workforce.
Immediately after taking office, Trump ordered that all US government staff working on DEI schemes were to be put on immediate paid administrative leave.
The White House gave them until 17:00 EST (2200 GMT) the following day to be put on leave before the offices and programmes in question were shut down.
In an order, Trump said that the programmes were “dangerous, demeaning and immoral”.
On Monday, the Department of Veterans Affairs also said it had has placed almost 60 employees on leave as it works to implement Trump’s order last week to eliminate DEI from federal workplaces.
In a statement, the department said that the salary of the employees – who were solely focused on DEI initiatives – were collectively paid about $8m, an average of about $136,000 (£109,000) per year. One employee was making over $220,000 a year.
Transgender troops
Trump also signed an executive order directing the military to formulate policies regarding the inclusion of transgender troops and update any guidance on the topic.
According to documents published by the White House, the president’s executive order on “prioritising military excellence and readiness” says “expressing a false ‘gender identity’ divergent from an individual’s sex cannot satisfy the rigorous standards necessary for military service”.
A White House fact sheet uses the term “trans-identifying” rather than transgender.
It is unclear how many transgender personnel are serving in the US military – although previous estimates from researchers have put the figure at between 9,000 and 15,000.
As part of the order, the use of pronouns will be forbidden across the defence department, and the order also says males will be explicitly forbidden from using facilities designated for females.
In 2021, then-President Joe Biden signed an order allowing transgender people to serve in the military and preventing discharges based on gender.
During most of Trump’s first term at the White House, transgender personnel were banned from joining or serving unless they received a waiver.
The Trump administration has claimed members who undergo transition surgery are often incapable of the physical demands of their jobs – potentially harming military readiness. The White House did not provide evidence of this claim and the BBC has reached out to the Pentagon for comment.
Sparta, an organisation which advocates on behalf of transgender military personnel, criticised the order, saying that transgender troops have served in combat zones and have “demonstrated their ability” to operate in military units.
“While some transgender troops do have surgery, the recovery time and cost is minimal, and is scheduled so as not to impact deployments or mission readiness,” said Sue Fulton, an army veteran and senior advisor to Sparta.
“The readiness and physical capabilities of transgender service members is not different from that of other service members,” Fulton added.
In 2017, the Palm Center – an independent research organisation – estimated that removing about 10,000 transgender troops from the military could cost approximately $960m.
Reinstating troops who refused vaccines
The third order reinstates US military personnel who were discharged for refusal to accept Covid-19 vaccinations during the pandemic.
Those service members will be reinstated with full back pay and benefits, and receive their former rank.
In his inauguration speech, Trump said that these service members were “unjustly expelled”.
About 8,000 US military personnel were discharged from service for refusing the vaccines between 2021 and 2023 – of which only 43 were reinstated before Trump’s return to the White House.
A former high-ranking Pentagon official – who spoke on condition of anonymity – told the BBC that their refusal to take vaccines was tantamount to damaging “good order” and discipline.
The official called the reinstatement of the troops “concerning” and said he feared it could create a precedent to be able to opt out of other vaccines, such as those given to service members for yellow fever or smallpox.
President Trump took a significant step towards reshaping the US military with the signing of several orders aimed at bolstering national security and modernizing the armed forces. The orders cover a range of areas, from increasing defense spending to streamlining procurement processes and promoting technological innovation. One of the key orders signed by President Trump directs the Department of Defense to develop a comprehensive plan to rebuild and modernize the US military. This includes increasing the size of the Army and Marines, expanding the Navy and Air Force, and enhancing the capabilities of the National Guard and Reserves.
Another order focuses on improving the procurement process for military equipment, with the goal of reducing costs and speeding up the delivery of critical weapons systems. This will involve cutting red tape and streamlining regulations to ensure that the military has access to the latest technology and equipment in a timely manner.
In addition, President Trump signed an order to promote innovation in the defense industry, encouraging collaboration between the government and private sector to develop cutting-edge technologies and capabilities. This will help ensure that the US military remains at the forefront of military technology and maintains its competitive edge on the global stage.
Overall, these orders mark a significant step towards reshaping the US military and ensuring that it is prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st century. President Trump’s focus on increasing defense spending, streamlining procurement processes, and promoting technological innovation will help strengthen national security and enhance the capabilities of the armed forces.

Ovechkin tours Oilers Hall of Fame, focused on catching Gretzky
The chase has been enjoyable for Ovechkin this season with Washington (32-10-5) leading the NHL with 69 points. The game in Edmonton is the first of a five-game road trip.
“Of course, it’s fun when you’re winning and your team is playing well,” Ovechkin said. “It kind of helps you up.”
Ovechkin missed 16 games after he fractured his left fibula at the Utah Hockey Club on Nov. 18. Since returning, he has eight points (six goals, two assists) in 13 games.
“It’s a gift from God,” Oilers forward Vasily Podkolzin said. “He can score, he can rip it and no matter how old he is, he’s still moving well. It’s great to have an opportunity to play against him.”
Podkolzin, like Ovechkin a native of Moscow, idolized him growing up and remembers fondly the first time he played against him.
“I was around 5 years old when he got into the League,” he said. “I’ve played against him two or three times. He’s even bigger on the ice with skates. It was pretty nice to meet him. We had a little conversation. He’s a good guy and one of the greatest players.”
Ovechkin’s ability to continue scoring at a high rate at this stage of his career is impressive, though he does not have a target of how many goals he would like to have at the end of it.
For now, the focus is on catching Gretzky.
“I’m 20, 21 goals (away), it’s hard to score in this league,” Ovechkin said. “You play against the best defensive players out there and maybe in one game, you maybe have two or three chances, and you have to use it, or maybe one chance. All five guys out there have to do the job.”
The Capitals surrounded Ovechkin with plenty of talent in the offseason. It’s helped them grow from a fringe Stanley Cup Playoff team swept by the New York Rangers in the best-of-7 Eastern Conference First Round to a championship contender.
“You can see how many guys signed before the season, experienced guys but still young, and still hungry to win the games and go to the playoffs,” Ovechkin said. “The most important thing, I think, is that we have a great group of guys in the locker room. If something happens, we always try to stick together, and I think that’s why we’re successful right now.”
Alexander Ovechkin, the legendary Washington Capitals forward, recently had the opportunity to tour the Edmonton Oilers Hall of Fame, with a special focus on catching up with the one and only Wayne Gretzky. As Ovechkin walked through the hallowed halls of the Oilers Hall of Fame, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe and reverence for the history and legacy of the team. The memorabilia and artifacts on display painted a vivid picture of the Oilers’ storied past, including their dominant Stanley Cup victories and the incredible talent that has graced their roster over the years.
But it was meeting Gretzky, known as “The Great One,” that truly left a lasting impression on Ovechkin. The two hockey superstars exchanged stories and shared a mutual respect for each other’s accomplishments on the ice. Ovechkin, who is currently chasing Gretzky’s all-time goal-scoring record, was inspired by the chance to speak with the man who set the bar so high for generations of hockey players to come.
As Ovechkin left the Oilers Hall of Fame, he couldn’t help but feel a renewed sense of motivation to continue his pursuit of greatness. With Gretzky’s words of wisdom echoing in his mind, Ovechkin is more determined than ever to etch his name into the history books alongside the hockey legends who have come before him.

Miami Dolphins Defensive Coordinator Anthony Weaver Not Focused on Head Coaching
Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver conducted his weekly media session Thursday morning hoping he’ll get the chance to do another one next week.
That, of course, would mean the Dolphins snuck into the playoffs, which will happen if they defeat the New York Jets on Sunday at the same time the Denver Broncos lose against the Kansas City Chiefs.
But it’s also possible that the South Florida media met Weaver for the last time because he should become a popular head coach candidate once the Dolphins season is over, which will happen if either of the two aforementioned scenarios doesn’t materialize.
But don’t think for a second that Weaver has begun his preparations for a potentially big step in his coaching career. His sole focus is on helping the Dolphins go as far as they can, including a playoff date with the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium on the weekend of Jan. 11-12.
“It’s funny because I spoke to my agent last night and he’s like, ‘What are you doing to prepare for those ops?’ ” Weaver said Thursday. “I’m like absolutely nothing. Absolutely nothing. Yeah, I’m so focused right now. I’m just controlling what we control, beating the Jets and praying that we get the help we need in order to continue this run. Because I think if we can get in, if we’re blessed with that opportunity, we can make some noise.”
With one game left in the 2024 regular season, we easily can make the determination that the hiring of Weaver to replace Vic Fangio as defensive coordinator was a massive hit for the Dolphins.
The team will go into the season finale against the Jets ranked third in the NFL in total defense and tied for eighth in points allowed — all this despite not having Bradley Chubb all season and having Jaelan Phillips for only a month.
The Dolphins also produced the team MVP in lineman Zach Sieler.
If the Dolphins indeed are to make some noise in the first few weeks of January, it’s more than likely it will have to be the defense leading the way given Tua Tagovailoa’s uncertain status because of his hip injury and injuries on the offensive line.
If the Dolphins don’t make any kind of run, Weaver’s focus then would shift to his personal opportunities and the Weaver watch will go into full effect.
And if it turns out he’s one-and-done because he becomes a head coach elsewhere, Weaver can leave knowing he did a great job in his short stint in Miami.
Miami Dolphins Defensive Coordinator Anthony Weaver Not Focused on Head CoachingMiami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver is making it clear that his focus is solely on his current role with the team and not on pursuing a head coaching position.
Weaver, who was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2021, has been instrumental in transforming the Dolphins defense into one of the top units in the league. Under his leadership, the defense has shown significant improvement and has been a key factor in the team’s success.
Despite his success with the Dolphins, Weaver has made it clear that he is not actively seeking a head coaching position at this time. Instead, he is committed to continuing to grow and develop as a coach and helping the Dolphins achieve their goals.
Weaver’s dedication to his current role and his team-first mentality have earned him the respect of players and coaching staff alike. His focus on the task at hand and his commitment to the Dolphins’ success make him a valuable asset to the team.
As the Dolphins continue their push for a playoff berth, Weaver’s leadership and dedication will be crucial to their success. With his focus on the present and his commitment to the team, Weaver is proving himself to be a valuable asset to the Miami Dolphins organization.

#Miami #Dolphins #Defensive #Coordinator #Anthony #Weaver #Focused #CoachingJim Harbaugh and Chargers focused on accomplishing more after wrapping up playoff berth
Jim Harbaugh, Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers celebrated in the locker room Saturday after they wrapped up a playoff spot with a 40-7 victory over the New England Patriots.
But even as they realized one goal by making the postseason, Harbaugh tried to keep things focused on the road ahead by stressing: “There’s more to do.”
The Chargers (10-6) go into the regular-season finale at Las Vegas knowing they will be at least the AFC’s sixth seed and avoid a trip to Buffalo for the wild-card round.
Los Angeles currently is in line to face Baltimore in a Harbaugh Bowl rematch, but it has an outside shot at the fifth seed and a trip to Houston if Cincinnati beats Pittsburgh next weekend.
While Harbaugh credited his players for the turnaround from five wins last year to double-digit victories this season, Herbert gave most of it to Harbaugh and first-year general manager Joe Hortiz.
“They have done such a great job of getting the right guys here. You look in the locker room and everybody plays for each other,” Herbert said. “(Harbaugh’s) a competitor, and he wants to win no matter what it is. It definitely shows, and it’s the way everyone fights for him, wants to play for him, and respects him.”
Harbaugh is the fifth coach in NFL history to win at least 10 games in his first season with two teams. He is also the eighth to make the playoffs in his first season with two teams.

“Very little to do with me. If it goes right, then it’s our players. They’re doing a great job. It’s gone bad a couple times. That’s on me,” he said. “I’ve been drinking the Kool-Aid here from day one, I can’t give enough credit to Derwin James, Justin Herbert, and those two in particular. And Khalil Mack and Rashawn Slater. I mean, stalwarts. Brad Bozeman has come in. He’s been a stalwart. There’s a bunch. There’s probably, like — I counted it up early. There was maybe 15, 15 stalwarts that we had, and it’s grown since then.”
Even though the Chargers are 3-5 against teams with winning records at the time they’ve played them, they are 7-1 against teams that were at or under .500. Four of those wins against opponents with losing records have come by at least 17 points, the first time since 2017 the Bolts have won that many games by as big a margin.
Since halftime of their Dec. 19 game against Denver, the Chargers have outscored the Broncos and Patriots 61-13 over six quarters.
“That’s the type of football we want to be playing in December, January, and hopefully on. That’s the type of football you want to be playing, especially in these big games like that. It was really good to see,” Herbert said.

What’s working
Offensive coordinator Greg Roman has said throughout the season it’s tough to use the full playbook when the Chargers have short drives. They came into Saturday’s game ranked 26th with only 23 possessions of at least 10 plays, but they had four against the Patriots, leading to three touchdowns and a field goal. It was the first time since Week 10 last season against Detroit they have had at least four drives of double-digit plays.
What needs help
Kickoff return coverage. The Chargers have allowed nine kick returns of at least 30 yards, eighth most in the league. New England’s Alex Erickson had three returns for 90 yards, including 34 and 31 yards.
Stock up
RB J.K. Dobbins was activated off injured reserve and provided a boost to the offense with 76 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown. Dobbins, who missed four games due to a knee injury, has set career highs in scrimmage yards (983) and rushing yards (842) in his first season with the Chargers.
Stock down
WR D.J. Chark was targeted four times but didn’t have a catch. Chark was signed during the offseason to provide experience and speed to a young receiver group. However, he missed the first half of the season with a hip injury and has played sparingly since his return. He has three receptions on the season.
Injuries
Three starters — RB Gus Edwards (ankle), LB Denzel Perryman (groin) and OG Trey Pipkins (hip) — were inactive. WR Joshua Palmer (heel) and DB Elijah Molden (shin) were injured in the second half.
Key numbers
77 and 1,054 — Receptions and receiving yards by Ladd McConkey, both records for a Chargers rookie.
5 — Consecutive seasons by Herbert with at least 3,000 passing yards and 20 touchdown passes, tied with Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson for the most to start a career.
2 — Sacks by Derwin James Jr. against the Patriots, the first time in the safety’s seven-year career he has had multiple sacks in a game.
What’s next
The Chargers go for their first season sweep of the Raiders since 2018 in the regular-season finale.
After securing a playoff berth for the first time in three years, Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers are not resting on their laurels. The team is focused on accomplishing even more as they head into the postseason.Harbaugh, known for his competitive spirit and relentless drive, has instilled a winning mentality in his players. He has pushed them to exceed expectations and reach new heights, and now that they have clinched a spot in the playoffs, he is pushing them to go even further.
The Chargers have shown flashes of brilliance throughout the season, but Harbaugh knows that they have yet to reach their full potential. With key players stepping up and the team firing on all cylinders, the Chargers are poised to make a deep playoff run.
As they prepare for their first postseason game, Harbaugh and the Chargers are laser-focused on their goal of bringing a championship back to Los Angeles. They know that the road ahead will be tough, but they are ready to embrace the challenge and prove that they are a force to be reckoned with.
So watch out, NFL. Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers are on a mission, and they are ready to accomplish more than anyone thought possible. Stay tuned for an exciting playoff run from this determined and driven team. #Chargers #Playoffs #JimHarbaugh #WinningMentality #SuperBowlBound
