  • Carey Hart Says His ‘Special Forces’ Injury Was His Fault, Reveals Wife Pink’s Reaction

Carey Hart is still in disbelief over his exit from Special Forces.

“Truthfully, it was so dumb,” Hart, 49, began during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly ahead of the Wednesday, January 29, episode with a smile on his face.

While fans saw Hart fall during the mud run on Wednesday’s episode, it was hard to tell what exactly happened. He explained to Us that he tripped over a “plastic speed bump thing for all the cables.”

“It’s my own fault that that happened. We were running this brutal workout through the mud holes and into the splash pond and all these things. It was absolutely freezing outside. I got hurt because I wasn’t paying attention,” he said. “In the prior exercises, we had to do two laps around the compound and back into the square. Well, in that certain situation, I think that was the second or third round — [and] I’m not a great runner. The DS said, ‘OK, go out, do one loop around and pull back in.’ I wasn’t paying attention. I went for the full two laps. Well, it was the second lap I actually tripped. … So had I been paying attention, I would’ve advanced and not been in that situation.”

Carey Hart Jokes He’s Still ‘Getting Called an Idiot’ 19 Years Into Pink Marriage

“II’s dark. At that point I couldn’t even see. I had so much mud in my eyes,” he continued, adding that the ankle that he injured is his “bad ankle” that he’s had issues with for years. “I actually have to have that ankle fused next year — I have no cartilage left in that ankle — and I tripped and I hit the ground and I put my hand out. So I initially felt my wrist more than anything and completed it.”

Hart noted that the left ankle pain is “something that I’m used to,” but when it started to swell, it “kept getting worse and worse.”

“I went and sat and thawed out in the shower and the wrist was one thing. I’m pretty good with tape. I could have got through it, but there was no way I could complete the next couple of days of that show with a blown-up ankle,” he said.

Carey Hart Recalls Wife Pink Thinking He Was Flirting With Drew Barrymore at ‘SNL’ Afterparty

After the accident, Hart informed his costars that he was leaving and joked that his wife, Pink, was going to laugh when she heard the story.

“I FaceTimed her that night. At the moment I got hurt, it was probably around midnight. So by the time I made it back to the hotel and got my phone out of the safe and all the things, it was probably 3 o’clock in the morning U.K. time,” Hart recalled of telling Pink. “She’d known the period of the time of the show and probably in the back of her mind, she knows anytime my phone’s going to ring before that last day, I’m going to be [hurt]. So her initial [reaction] — she was wide-eyed, kind of white as a ghost, asking, ‘Are you alright?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, it’s just my old body.’”

Hart and Pink, who wed in 2006, share daughter Willow, 13, and son Jameson, 8. Hart told Us that it’s been “really fun” to watch the show with his kids.

“Most of my career, anything that I did, lives on YouTube for them. My last serious freestyle competition was X Games when my daughter was a year old. So I started to step away from that high-risk level of my career 12 years ago. So it’s pretty fun to be able to sit on the couch and watch something in real time, watch it on TV, because my kids get to see what my wife does for a living,” he told Us. “My son’s kind of starry-eyed because he’s at that younger age. My daughter is tough as nails like me, and literally every week before the show starts and then after she’s like, ‘You don’t cry this week, do you?’ And I’m like, ‘Will, I don’t cry.’ The only thing she cared about is if I cried or not.”

Circling back to his exit, Hart explained to Us that his actual “injury was nothing major whatsoever,” but he was upset about how his exit went down.

Pink and Carey Hart: A Timeline of Their Relationship

“It was a little tender for a few days and then it passed, but I was pretty disappointed in myself that something that dumb took me out,” he said. “But at the same time, as I went into the show as well as every day that I was there, it’s just full immersion. I’m going to take one challenge at a time, one workout at a time and just kind of embrace being here because truthfully there’s 10 things that I could have aggravated on day one or day two that would’ve taken me out of it. So it was a little bit of a double-edged sword. I was happy as far as I made it, but being, like, 48 hours or so from the end [and] not getting to stand on top of that platform with the DS — that hurt my ego a little bit.”

The DS did tell Hart that they were proud of how he conducted himself.

“What those four men, let alone all of the special forces and armed forces do for us, that is a pretty solid pat on the back,” he told Us of the remark. “So I take that very seriously that they gave me that compliment and I was lucky enough to communicate with the guys a little bit and it’s like, look, I put it on the line, I gave it 100 percent and I don’t have any regrets.”

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test airs on Fox Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET.

Carey Hart, former professional motocross competitor and husband of singer Pink, recently opened up about his injury while training with the Special Forces. In a candid Instagram post, Hart admitted that the accident was his fault and revealed his wife’s reaction to the news.

The 46-year-old shared a photo of himself in a hospital bed with a bandaged arm, explaining that he had broken his wrist while participating in a training exercise with the Special Forces. In the caption, Hart took full responsibility for the injury, writing, “I messed up a step and broke my wrist. I know better, but I got excited and stepped out of line.”

Despite his regret over the incident, Hart expressed gratitude for the Special Forces members who assisted him after the injury. He praised their professionalism and thanked them for their help during his recovery.

Hart also shared his wife Pink’s reaction to the news, revealing that she had a mixed response to his accident. He wrote, “My wife was proud of me for pushing my limits, but also not surprised that I messed up and got hurt.”

The couple, who have been married since 2006 and share two children together, have always been open about their adventures and challenges. Hart’s willingness to take responsibility for his mistake and share his experience with his fans is a testament to his honesty and transparency.

Fans flooded the comments section with messages of support and well-wishes for Hart’s speedy recovery. Despite his injury, it’s clear that Hart remains determined to continue pushing his limits and seeking new challenges in the future.

  • ‘Special Forces’ Star Carey Hart’s Injuries: Broken Bones & More

After competing as a professional motocross racer for more than 20 years, Carey Hart has been hit with his fair share of injuries. Although he’s been retired for 12 years, the athlete still has to get surgeries for complications from his past broken bones and more.

Hart previously said he accepted that getting injured was par for the course even before he became a pro racer at the age of 18. “By the time you make it to pro level in motocross or where you’re at the level where you are doing contests, you’ve already had a good share of injuries,” he told i80. “Very, very few riders make it to the pro level without a few major injuries along the way. It’s part of the job. It’s not about if, it’s when.”

Despite his body being completely banged up, Hart decided to compete on Season 3 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, and admitted that “keeping [himself] in one piece” was his biggest struggle. Scroll down for everything we know about Hart’s injuries.

How many bones has Carey Hart broken?

“My body’s pretty destroyed. I’m in the high 80s for broken bones,” Hart told TooFab. The racer once shared that he broke both arms and both legs in his worst crash ever and revealed that it kept him off of his bike for two or three years. “I was in ICU for a month. It almost killed me,” he told Rolling Stone.

“I shattered one heel, broke a femur, broke both arms … just the intense pain,” he recalled to i80. “I’ve broken a lot of stuff. … You name it, I’ve broken it. When you’re lying there in the ICU with a bone sticking out, you think, ‘Why the hell am I doing this?’ But, as the time passes and the bones heal, everything gets back to normal.”

    Carey Hart’s surgeries

Hart has had a lot of surgeries over the years. “I just had my 22nd surgery on my knee,” he revealed in 2024. Pink‘s husband had a brutal injury to his right meniscus and has had to get it cleaned up more than once.

In 2022, the athlete had a procedure done to fuse his vertebrae. He only had to have one vertebrae fused at the time, but said he’d previously had “two fusions [and] two disc replacements,” while adding that there would be “many more to go.”

“I’ve had a few fusions and disc replacements in my back and neck,” Hart explained to TooFab. “And honestly, for the last 12 years since my first one, I’m not really supposed to run.” Of course, this was an issue on Special Forces. “I brought a full bag of tape and wraps and all kind of trickery to get my body through it all, and, you know, at a certain point you just got to kind of bite down and grin through it.”

While opening up about his spinal fusion in 2014, Hart explained to Rolling Stone, “The doctor thinks I compression-fractured my lower spine at least 10-12 times, so we had to go in and take care of it.” He said the recovery from that particular surgery was “brutal,” adding, “I was just off my feet, laying down flat for 22 hours a day, in excruciating pain, because they elongated my spine.”

Hart also had a “lower spine disc replacement” in 2021. “Glad my fusion has some company with the M6 disc replacement,” he shared on Instagram. “Can’t wait to come back stronger than ever, and kick ass on my dirtbike in 2022.”

    Carey Hart’s other injuries

All of the surgeries and broken bones have also led to infections. In early 2023, Hart revealed, “Found out a couple days before Christmas that I have an infection in some old hardware in my body. After stressing my brains out through the holidays, I got this tunneled catheter installed in my chest. Now for the next 41 days I have to inject antibiotics to knock this sucker out.”

He also admitted that dealing with this complication was more grueling than some of his past injuries. “I can handle a bone sticking out of my skin, but this catheter is definitely nervewracking,” Hart added.

Special Forces star Carey Hart is known for his fearless stunts on and off the screen, but his latest injuries have left him sidelined. The professional motocross racer and husband of pop star Pink recently suffered a string of broken bones and more during a high-speed stunt gone wrong.

Hart, who is no stranger to injuries due to his extreme sports background, was attempting a dangerous jump over a massive gap when he lost control of his bike mid-air. The impact of the crash left him with multiple fractures, including a broken collarbone, ribs, and wrist. In addition to the broken bones, Hart also sustained a concussion and several lacerations.

Despite the severity of his injuries, Hart remains in good spirits and is determined to make a full recovery. His wife, Pink, has been by his side throughout the ordeal, offering her love and support as he undergoes surgery and begins the long road to recovery.

Fans of the adrenaline junkie are sending their well-wishes and hoping for a speedy recovery for the beloved Special Forces star. Stay tuned for updates on Carey Hart’s progress as he works to get back on his feet and back in the saddle.

  • LeBron James: Roster build forces Lakers to play perfectly or lose

JJ Redick, on multiple occasions this season, has spoken about his belief in being process-oriented. It’s a necessary tool for any athlete, and especially one who earned his NBA fortune as a shooter while missing more threes than he made. If, Redick has said, he knew he was putting in the right kind of work, he could be at peace with the result after the ball left his hand.

He reiterated it before the Lakers played the Clippers on Sunday, and in the aftermath of their lopsided 116-102 loss at the Intuit Dome, he mentioned it again.

“Every time we made a mistake they made us pay. But our guys competed. We fought. We stayed together,” the Lakers coach said after the loss. “This is for us, this was a good process for us. We didn’t get the result we wanted.”

But that message isn’t resonating inside a locker room that had grown frustrated with the Lakers’ inconsistencies, with LeBron James saying the team’s roster construction is the reason for its razor-thin margin for error.

Asked if there were ways for the Lakers to increase those margins, internally, James was blunt.

“Nah,” he said. “That’s how our team is constructed. We don’t have room for error — for much error.”

In a follow-up, James was asked if the Lakers had to play near-perfect basketball most nights to win. And again, James basically said the roster flaws demanded it.

“We don’t have a choice,” James said. “I mean… that’s the way our team is constructed. And we have to, we have to play close-to-perfect basketball.”

James’ comments maybe could’ve been written off as frustration after the Lakers lost for the fourth time in their last six games, but Redick also was being realistic about the team’s chances each time it plays. Asked about a stretch of schedule that saw the Lakers in Los Angeles for 10 of 12 games (the Lakers are currently 5-5 during it), it was hard to tell if he was being optimistic or fatalistic.

“You can certainly look at a calendar and say this is an easier part of the schedule or this is a more difficult part. Nothing is going to be easy for our team. And I figured that out very early in the season,” Redick said before shifting tone. “And that’s OK. We’re going to keep fighting. … We have 18 losses, so by the loss column, we’re sixth. We would like to be higher. I think there’s a couple games where we would all say we should have won. We haven’t had any of those games where you’re like, ‘Well, we kind of stole that one.’ We’re going to get a couple back at some point. We just got to continue to trust each other and we’ll be fine.”

The numbers, Redick said, are the numbers. Despite being 22-18, the Lakers have a negative point differential — and not a particularly close one. At minus-2.6 points, only Utah, New Orleans and Portland have been worse.

“We don’t have a huge margin for error. Nor can we create that margin organically,” Redick said. “It has to be emphasized daily to touch the paint, to play paint-to-great mentality, make the extra pass. We don’t have a guy on our team that’s going to necessarily always draw two to the ball. We don’t have a guy on our team that’s going to be able to get past his guy one-on-one and get to the paint and spread it out to the perimeter.

“Like, that’s just not our team. So we have to do it through connectivity, through execution. And when we do that, we’re really good.”

    And when the Lakers don’t?

They end up in a mood like they were Sunday night, asking themselves the big questions that have kept them, in the words of one longtime NBA scout who watched the Lakers this week, “stuck.”

LeBron James: Roster build forces Lakers to play perfectly or lose

The Los Angeles Lakers have put together a star-studded roster around LeBron James, but the pressure is on for them to perform at a high level every game. With the likes of Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, and Carmelo Anthony alongside LeBron, the expectations are sky-high for this team.

However, the roster build has left the Lakers with little room for error. The team is filled with aging veterans who may not have the same level of energy and athleticism they once did. This means that the Lakers will need to play a near-perfect game every night in order to secure wins.

The margin for error is slim for the Lakers, as any slip-up could result in a loss. With so much talent on the team, the pressure is on LeBron James to lead his squad and ensure they are playing at their best every game.

It will be interesting to see how the Lakers handle this pressure and if they are able to rise to the occasion. LeBron James is no stranger to carrying a team on his back, but this roster build may be his toughest challenge yet. Only time will tell if the Lakers can live up to the high expectations set for them.

  • Weather forces practice adjustments for Louisiana Basketball teams

LAFAYETTE — With lingering snow and icy conditions disrupting normal routines, both Louisiana men’s and women’s basketball teams have had to adjust their preparations for Sun Belt play this week.

While the teams managed to practice on Monday, weather conditions have since forced them to shift to virtual film sessions and modify their schedules, presenting an unusual challenge ahead of Thursday’s games.

For the men’s team, interim head coach Derrick Zimmerman emphasized the importance of adaptability in light of the circumstances.

“We’ve got to make some changes on the fly,” Zimmerman said. “We’ve been in communication with Dr. Maggard and the Sun Belt Conference about the schedule changes. The key now is to focus and prepare for Thursday’s game, even if that means adjusting how we practice.”

The women’s team faces similar challenges, with head coach Garry Brodhead navigating an unprecedented situation.

“I’ve never not practiced going into a game,” Brodhead said. “This is the first time in my 40-year career. The good thing is we just played [Arkansas State], so the game plan is fresh in our minds. If there’s a positive, it’s that familiarity.”

Despite the disruptions, both teams remain focused on their upcoming matchups. The men will tip off against Texas State on Thursday at 3 p.m., while the women will face Arkansas State later that evening at 6 p.m.

With adjustments in place, the Ragin’ Cajuns will aim to overcome these challenges and continue their pursuit of success in Sun Belt play.

Due to inclement weather conditions, both the Louisiana State University (LSU) and University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL Lafayette) basketball teams have had to make adjustments to their practice schedules.

LSU’s men’s basketball team was forced to cancel their practice on Tuesday due to heavy rain and flooding in the area. The team has been practicing at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, but with the facility flooded, they had to find an alternative location to continue their preparations for the upcoming games.

Meanwhile, the UL Lafayette women’s basketball team has had to move their practices indoors due to the cold and rainy weather conditions. The team usually practices outdoors on their campus court, but the wet conditions have made it unsafe for players to practice outside.

Despite the challenges brought on by the weather, both teams remain focused and determined to stay on track with their training and game preparations. LSU and UL Lafayette are set to face tough opponents in the coming weeks, and they are working hard to ensure they are ready to compete at their best.

As the weather continues to impact practice schedules, both teams are keeping a close eye on the forecast and making adjustments as needed. With the support of their coaches and teammates, they are confident they will be able to overcome these challenges and continue to improve as they strive for success on the court.
