  • Ford ‘ripping up’ Ontario’s $100M contract with Elon Musk’s Starlink in wake of U.S. tariffs


    Progressive Conservative Leader Doug Ford is “ripping up” Ontario’s nearly $100 million contract with Elon Musk’s Starlink in the wake of U.S. tariffs on virtually all Canadian goods, he said in a statement Monday. 

    The contract, signed in November, was meant to provide high-speed internet access through Starlink’s satellite service to 15,000 eligible homes and businesses in rural, remote and northern communities by June of this year. 

    “Ontario won’t do business with people hellbent on destroying our economy,” Ford said in the statement. 

    Ford said Ontario will ban American companies from provincial contracts until U.S. tariffs are removed. 

    “U.S.-based businesses will now lose out on tens of billions of dollars in new revenues. They only have President Trump to blame,” he said. 

    On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump imposed 25 per cent tariffs on virtually all goods from Canada and a lower 10 per cent tariff on Canadian energy products

    Musk, an adviser to Trump, is overseeing the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in co-operation with the president’s administration. 

    Ford has faced criticism for the contract, with Ontario Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie calling on him to end the deal last week. 

    “If he were serious about standing up to Trump, he would cancel his sweetheart deal with Elon Musk,” Crombie previously said in a news release. 

    Ford defended the contract at the time, saying there was a transparent bidding process and it was part of the government’s plan to get everyone in the province high-speed internet. 

    Starlink growing quickly in Canada 

    According to a news release from Infrastructure Ontario in January 2024, only two satellite internet service providers could meet the province’s needs.

    Those were Musk’s SpaceX, which runs Starlink, and Xplore Inc., a Canadian rural internet service provider. Both providers were invited to participate in a bidding process, the release said, with SpaceX ultimately winning out. 

    Starlink surpassed Xplornet, operated by Xplore Inc., as the leading satellite-based provider of rural and remote internet access service in Canada in 2022, according to a report by the Global Media and Internet Concentration Project in December. 

    As of 2024, Starlink has around 400,000 subscribers in Canada, the report said. 



    In a shocking turn of events, Ford announced today that they will be “ripping up” their $100 million contract with Elon Musk’s Starlink in Ontario. This decision comes in the wake of new U.S. tariffs that have significantly increased the cost of importing Starlink’s satellite technology.

  • Harrison Ford says his version of Red Hulk in Captain America Brave New World is ‘not quite a villain’


    Harrison Ford has spoken about his role as Thaddeus Ross in the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World, rejecting the idea that the Red Hulk should be labelled a ‘villain’.

    Discussing the role, Ford shared with the PA news agency: ‘Well, he’s a complicated person, and I don’t think we should quite describe him as a villain, but I think as the story unwinds you find different aspects of his character that may be of interest. And he turns into the Hulk, so there’s a complication in his life.’

    ‘It’s good to have characters that have a substance and a point of view, and I think we have a bunch of very interesting characters in this film.’

    Reflecting on the visual effects, Ford described seeing himself as Red Hulk: ‘I’ve never seen myself that way before, but it was interesting, it was fun.’

    The storyline follows Sam Wilson, portrayed by Anthony Mackie, who has assumed the role of Captain America, as he becomes embroiled in an international incident involving Ford’s newly elected president.

    Mackie explained: ‘The fun part about it was not so much about becoming Captain America, but doing it with all of my friends and colleagues from the beginning.

  • BRAVE NEW WORLD Star Harrison Ford On Why He Didn’t Turn To Mark Ruffalo For Hulk Advice


    It was a big enough surprise when Harrison Ford agreed to return to the Star Wars franchise as Han Solo, so the fact he’s joined the MCU – as a Red Hulk, no less – is still pretty mind-blowing. 

    Making his debut in Captain America: Brave New World next month, the actor appears excited to board a franchise he’s watched many of his contemporaries have fun in. Beyond that, only time will tell whether Red Hulk is a one-and-done villain or a key part of future stories. 

    Ford isn’t the first actor to play Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross as the late William Hurt was originally cast as the antagonist in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. He took an extended break from the MCU before returning in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Black Widow. 

    Talking more about following in Hurt’s footsteps, the iconic actor said, “It…becomes your responsibility to fill out the shoes that have walked before you… [I had] a lot of help from the script because the character’s life becomes more complicated and interesting, perhaps.”

    He’d go on to describe Captain America: Brave New World as “operatic,” and added, “the level of dramatic involvement is very high.”

    Asked if he ever turned to Mark Ruffalo about transforming into the Red Hulk, Ford said the Bruce Banner actor “wasn’t available for a consultation.” Instead, he “just had to wing it” but acknowledged that he hopes Ruffalo “[isn’t] disappointed” before suggesting they should one day square off to see who’s “hulkier.”

    We’d imagine Red Hulk will factor into plans for that long-delayed World War Hulk movie. However, assuming he survives the events of Captain America: Brave New World, Ross would surely help turn the tide in the impending Multiversal battle with Doctor Doom when Avengers: Doomsday rolls around.

    Haven't installed this in the car yet, but i did give it a bench test. Overall, it's not bad and it does indeed do everything the product description claims, so all that's good. My only issue is with the touchscreen responsiveness. It's ok, but not very snappy, and it depends on what the device is doing at the time. Nothing that makes the touchscreen unusable, but a minor annoyance. Other than that, this is a good product, although I think the price is a bit inflated.
