  • Below-normal temps forecasted for MLK day in Phoenix area

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Temperatures will remain slightly below normal for Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the mid-60s.

It will be a cool start, with temperatures in the 30s tomorrow morning across the Valley.

A dry weather system will drop across the region and kick up the wind, mainly in western Arizona. A Wind Advisory is in effect Monday and Tuesday along the California-Arizona border, including Lake Havasu and Yuma, where winds could gust to 45 mph.

This will also leave our state with cold morning lows, near freezing, for the deserts on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, so bundle up!

We are stuck between two different systems: a trough over most of the central and eastern US, with a ridge of high pressure to our west.

While a large portion of the U.S. is dealing with the major impacts of this arctic air, we will cool to the lower 60s Tuesday, then return to mid-60s Wednesday, and we’re back into the 70s by the weekend.

A system could bring in a very slight chance for rain over the next weekend, we will keep a close eye on this, and be the first to alert you to any changes.

Get ready to bundle up, Phoenix! Below-normal temperatures are in the forecast for MLK day in the Phoenix area.

According to weather reports, a cold front will be moving through the region, bringing with it cooler temperatures than usual for this time of year. Highs are expected to only reach the mid-50s, with lows dipping down into the 30s overnight.

If you have outdoor plans for the holiday, be sure to dress warmly and bring along some extra layers to stay comfortable in the chilly weather. And don’t forget to protect any sensitive plants or pipes from potential frost.

While it may not be the typical sunny and warm Arizona weather we’re used to, it’s always good to embrace the change and enjoy the crisp, refreshing air. Stay warm and have a wonderful MLK day, Phoenix!
