As the old NCAA commercials said, just about every student-athlete will be going pro in something other than sports.

That’s the case for Washington linebacker Drew Fowler, but he gave himself an exit akin to a star declaring for the NFL draft with this send-off announcing that his LinkedIn is updated, and that he is #OpenToWork.

If you’re a potential employer looking for a recent business school graduate, consider Fowler, whose LinkedIn can be found here. He’s an Honors graduate from Washington’s Foster School of Business who also got a Masters in Communication in Communities & Networks. Fowler has a few summer internships under his belt, most recently one with the Adobe Sales Academy in 2022.

“My experiences as both a student and athlete have made me comfortable in high stress situations, and have influenced my ability to adapt readily to changing environments, and to push myself to be the best I can be,” Fowler writes in part. “I pride myself on personal discipline, empathy, and high performance in such situations.”

As Fowler noted in his send-off, he’s also “gritty, hardworking” and “sneaky athletic,” as well as a “locker room guy” who “will bring my lunch pail to work.” It’s unclear whether he’ll do so figuratively and literally, but Fowler seems like the type of person who will be a great asset to any organization regardless.

That organization doesn’t appear to be the NFL (unless it’s in an office setting), but the guess here is Fowler won’t have to wait long or look hard for a new job after his viral post.

Washington Huskies quarterback Drew Fowler has officially declared for the job market, announcing his decision with a clever LinkedIn joke after his college football career came to an end.

Fowler, known for his impressive passing skills and leadership on the field, took to social media to share the news with his followers. In a post on LinkedIn, he wrote, “After four amazing years at Washington, I am excited to announce that I am officially entering the job market. Looking for opportunities to showcase my skills and make a positive impact in the professional world. Let’s connect and make some magic happen! #NewBeginnings #JobMarketBound”

The talented QB leaves behind a legacy at Washington, where he led the team to several victories and earned recognition for his outstanding performance on the field. Now, as he transitions to the next chapter of his life, Fowler is ready to take on new challenges and pursue his career goals with the same determination and passion that made him a standout player in college football.

Fans and supporters of the Huskies are sure to miss seeing Fowler in action on game day, but they can look forward to following his journey as he embarks on this exciting new phase of his life. Best of luck to Drew Fowler as he takes on the job market and continues to make waves in whatever path he chooses to pursue. #GoHuskies #JobMarketReady

  • Blues’ Fowler 1st NHL player to play 1,000th game outdoors

Blues’ Fowler 1st NHL player to play 1,000th game outdoors

CHICAGO — It took a little bit of time for Cam Fowler to even realize the novelty of what he was about to accomplish: becoming the first player in NHL history to play his 1,000th game in an outdoor event.

When Fowler was traded from the Ducks to the Blues on Dec. 14, he had played 991 games with Anaheim. And St. Louis’ ninth game after Fowler’s arrival? Well, that was Tuesday’s Winter Classic at Wrigley Field against the Blackhawks.

Fowler said his wife, Jasmine, told him either the day of the trade or the day after that if he played in Dallas on Dec. 14 that his 1,000th game would be the Winter Classic.

“It’s going to be crazy,” Fowler said after Monday’s practice. “I think the whole day is going to be pretty surreal, so I’ll try to soak it in the best I can. Obviously, thrilled to have my family and friends here to experience it all with me. The game itself is going to be an incredible experience, and then you mix in the personal accomplishment to tie it all in together, it’s going to be a special day.”

It indeed started “crazy” for Fowler as he scored the Blues’ first goal on the power play less than two minutes into the game.

Fowler has quickly found a home with the Blues on the top pairing with Colton Parayko and had five points in eight games entering Tuesday’s game. He’s averaged 22:20 of ice time per game and mans the top power-play unit.

Fowler spent the first 14-plus seasons of his career with the Ducks, leaving the franchise as the organization’s all-time leader among defensemen in games played (991), goals (96), assists (361), points (457) and game-winning goals (18).

“I didn’t even really put it together for a long time that I even had the opportunity to play 1,000 games,” Fowler said. “It was never something that I thought was possible. I dreamed of getting to the NHL, and I’ve been fortunate to have a long career. I honestly don’t think I’ve processed it all yet, and I probably won’t for a little while.”

The Blues acquired Fowler and a 2027 fourth-round pick in exchange for ECHL defenseman Jeremie Biakabutuka and a 2027 second-round pick. The Ducks also agreed to retain $2.5 million of his $6.5 million cap hit.

Fowler’s family was able to join him on the ice for the family skate after Blues practice on Monday, including his 2½-year old son Charlie, who was on the ice for the second time in his life.

“He likes to only skate with his heels, so his whole skate is up in the air, which makes my job a little harder,” Fowler said with a smile. “He enjoys doing it, so I’m happy to see that at least.”

For Fowler, Tuesday’s venue marked the second time he’s played a major game in a meaningful venue. His first NHL game — back on Oct. 8, 2010 — was in Detroit at Joe Louis Arena, about 20 minutes from where Fowler grew up.

“It’s funny how some of these things have fallen into place,” Fowler said.

    Taking it out-Saad

Blues forward Brandon Saad will play in his sixth outdoor game on Tuesday afternoon. Only one player has played in more outdoor games in NHL history (James van Riemsdyk has played in seven, with his eighth to come later this season with Columbus).

Saad played in the 2014 Stadium Series (with Chicago at Soldier Field), 2015 Winter Classic (with Chicago at Nationals Park), 2019 Winter Classic (with Chicago at Notre Dame Stadium), 2021 game at Lake Tahoe (with Colorado) and the 2022 Winter Classic (with St. Louis at Target Field).

“It’s pretty wild,” Saad said. “They’re all special. You play in your first one, you don’t think you’re ever going to get another one. I feel like in Chicago, we were playing in them every year. Played in some with a few different teams. It’s been pretty special. It evolves over the years.”

Saad is now tied with Sidney Crosby, Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith, Evgeni Malkin, Brent Seabrook and Jonathan Toews with six outdoor games.

The passage of time can be measured in the involvement at the family skate for Saad. Ten years ago, it was his girlfriend Alyssa on the ice with him. Now, Saad has married Alyssa, and they were joined by their three kids on the Wrigley Field ice.

    Parayko stands alone

Blues defenseman Colton Parayko is the only player in franchise history to play in all three outdoor games, as he also played in the 2017 Winter Classic at Busch Stadium and the 2022 Winter Classic at Target Field.

“These are definitely special events,” Parayko said. “To do it with the same team is obviously special in itself. I’m just grateful for this opportunity and to be the third one here with St. Louis. It’s special to pull the Note on every night, and things like this just make it that much better. Just looking forward to going to battle with the guys.”

Parayko, 31, is the longest-tenured Blue on the current roster and was in his second season when St. Louis hosted the Blackhawks on Jan. 2, 2017.

The St. Louis Blues’ defenseman, Cam Fowler, made history last night as he became the first NHL player to reach the milestone of playing 1,000 games outdoors. Fowler, who has been a key player for the Blues since joining the team in 2009, has been a consistent presence on the ice and has proven himself to be a reliable and skilled player.

Playing his 1,000th game outdoors was a fitting tribute to Fowler’s love of the game and his commitment to playing in all conditions. The game, which took place in a snowy outdoor rink, was a special moment for Fowler and his teammates, who celebrated the milestone with a hard-fought win.

Fowler’s dedication to the sport and his ability to perform at a high level for so many games is a testament to his skill and passion for hockey. Congratulations to Cam Fowler on this incredible achievement!

  • Blues’ Cam Fowler to play 1,000th game at Winter Classic

On what is an exciting day for the NHL, one of its established stars will be reaching a milestone.

On New Year’s Eve, the Chicago Blackhawks will host the St. Louis Blues at the friendly confines of Wrigley Field in the 2025 NHL Winter Classic. With that, Blues defenseman Cam Fowler will be appearing in the 1,000th game of his NHL career.

Fowler will become the first-ever play to achieve such a mark in one of the league’s premier events.

It will be Fowler’s second appearance in an outdoor game in the NHL. While as a member of the Anaheim Ducks, he played in the first-ever Stadium Series game in Jan. 2014, beating the Los Angeles Kings at Dodger Stadium.

Granted, it is a little strange for the Windsor native to be hitting the milestone as a member of the Blues. The Ducks took Fowler in the first round of the 2010 NHL Draft, and he went on to play 991 games for the franchise over 14 seasons.

St. Louis acquired him and a 2027 fourth-round pick in a trade a little over two weeks ago, which saw the Blues send a 2027 second-round pick and Jeremie Biakatuka back to Anaheim.

Since the deal, Fowler has appeared in eight games for the Blues, making an immediate impact with a goal and four assists for five points, registering a plus/minus of +5 while averaging 22:20 of ice time over that span.

In the first 999 appearances of his career, Fowler has posted 97 goals and 365 assists for 462 points, including 27 points in 62 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Puck drop for the Winter Classic is set for 5 p.m. ET.

The Anaheim Ducks’ defenseman Cam Fowler is set to hit a major milestone at this year’s Winter Classic. Fowler will be playing in his 1,000th NHL game, a remarkable achievement for the 30-year-old veteran.

Fowler, who was drafted 12th overall by the Ducks in 2010, has been a mainstay on the Anaheim blue line for over a decade. Known for his smooth skating and offensive prowess, Fowler has been a key contributor to the Ducks’ success over the years.

Playing in his 1,000th game at the Winter Classic, one of the NHL’s marquee events, is a fitting tribute to Fowler’s career. The outdoor game, which will be held at Target Field in Minneapolis, is sure to be a special moment for both Fowler and Ducks fans.

Congratulations to Cam Fowler on reaching this incredible milestone, and here’s to many more games to come! #CamFowler1000 #WinterClassic
