  • NMA – EPL GW-24 FPL Player Picks

GW-24 features Liverpool at Everton making up their weather-postponed derby to make a two-team mini-double. It’s a big opportunity to rack up points, and just to make it sporting, the Toffees are home twice while Pool is away twice, so there are attractive FPL assets to be had from both.

Whether you’re looking for a captain, differentials, or reliable assets, here are the top FPL picks for the week, sorted by position.

    Goalkeeper

Jordan Pickford (£4.6m, Everton vs Leicester, Everton vs Liverpool)

Pickford at home twice is a solid pick for the mini-dgw, offering both save points and clean sheet potential. He’s the second-highest scoring goalkeeper in FPL and has kept eight clean sheets this season.

    Defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.5m – at Bournemouth, at Everton)

Liverpool’s high-ceiling attacking right-back is one of the most mouth-watering prospects for the mini-dgw. He has seven goal involvements, is on right-side set pieces, and is constantly creating chances. With Pool keeping nine clean sheets (six with Alisson in goal), he has both defensive and attacking upside. If you can afford a premium defender, TAA has huge potential.

    ~

Ola Aina (£5.4m, Nott’m Forest vs Brighton)

Aina has accumulated 42 points in seven games, scoring once and providing an assist. He has blanked only twice during this period (the two times editor Jeff started him), highlighting his consistency. Facing a Brighton side that has struggled for stability this season, Aina could benefit from playing at home. Currently owned by 29% of managers, his price is likely to rise soon. Caveat: Editor Jeff has moved Aina into his starting-XI, benching Chalobah — YMMV).

    ~

Lewis Hall (£5.1m, Newcastle vs Fulham)

Newcastle’s left-back has been in impressive form at St James’ Park, making an impact at both ends of the pitch. Over his last four home matches, he has accumulated 31 points, contributing three assists, securing three clean sheets, and earning three bonus points. With Fulham up next, he remains a strong option

    Midfielders

Mo Salah (£13.1m, at Bournemouth, at Everton)

If you still have your Triple Captain chip, this is the perfect time to use it. Salah has been on fire all season, averaging over 10 FPL points per game, and now he has two fixtures after being completely rested (didn’t even travel) for Liverpool’s recent Champions League match. He’s easily the best captain choice, so if you don’t own him, this is the week you might want to find a way to bring him in.

    ~

Cole Palmer (£5.7m, Chelsea vs West Ham)

Palmer continues to be Chelsea’s most reliable attacker. He’s the Blues’ main creator, and he is on penalties plus other set pieces. He scored at West Ham in the reverse fixture and has a great chance to deliver again at home.

    ~

Cody Gakpo (£7.3m, at Bournemouth, at Everton)

Even with Liverpool’s front line rotating, Gakpo has quietly become one of the most consistent starters. He has seven goals plus two assists in his last eleven league games, making him an affordable differential for the mini-double. If you can’t afford Salah, Gakpo is a solid alternative.

    ~

Phil Foden (£8.0m, Arsenal vs Man City)

City faces a tough game away at Arsenal, but Foden has been playing well as one of City’s point-of-attack players. If you already own him, he’s worth holding, but it might not be the best week to bring him in fresh.

    ~

Jesper Lindstrom (£5.0m Everton vs Leicester, Everton vs Liverpool)

Lindstrom is a bit of a wild card pick, but if you’re looking for a budget differential, he could be the one. He has created four key passes plus two big chances in his last two games and has two home fixtures to make an impact.

    ~

Bryan Mbeumo (£6.7m, Brentford vs Tottenham)

Mbeumo has been one of the best budget midfielders this season. He has three goals plus an assist in his last four matches, and he already scored at Tottenham earlier in the season, even before Spurs went relegation-bound (worst record except Southampton over the last six). If you need a solid mid-priced option, he’s worth considering.

    Forwards

Alexander Isak (£7.7m, Newcastle vs Fulham)

Isak has been on a two-month hot streak, most recently scoring five goals and providing three assists in his last five home games. Newcastle’s attack revolves around him, and hosting Fulham, he should easily deliver again.

    ~

Erling Haaland (£14.4m, Arsenal vs Man City)

Haaland is always a goal threat, but playing away at Arsenal could be tricky. He has produced four goals plus an assist over his last four games, and he has also managed three goals in his five league matches against Arsenal. The Gunners conceded to lowly Girona midweek, so if you already own Haaland, you probably start him, but he’s not a must-buy this week, especially at his price (buy Salah first!).

NMA – EPL GW-24 FPL Player Picks

As we head into Gameweek 24 of the English Premier League, it’s time to make some crucial decisions for your Fantasy Premier League team. With some big matches on the horizon, here are our top player picks for the upcoming gameweek:

    1. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – The Egyptian forward has been in scintillating form recently and will be looking to add to his goal tally against Leicester City.

    2. Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) – The Portuguese playmaker has been the driving force behind United’s attack this season and is a must-have in your FPL team.

    3. Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) – Kane has been a consistent performer for Spurs this season and will be looking to continue his scoring streak against Chelsea.

    4. Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City) – The German midfielder has been on fire in recent weeks, scoring goals for fun and providing plenty of FPL points.

    5. James Maddison (Leicester City) – The English midfielder has been in great form for the Foxes and will be a key player in their match against Liverpool.

Make sure to consider these players for your FPL team as they could provide you with plenty of points in Gameweek 24. Good luck!

  • FPL tips and team of gameweek 24: First double gameweek of season

Mohamed Salah (captain), Liverpool, £13.7m – Bournemouth (a), Everton (a)

Triple-captaining Salah this week is probably the way forward.

No, it is not very exciting given a lot of FPL managers will do the same and almost everybody in the game will at least captain him.

And, if you are chasing in your mini-league, saving the chip for a differential, high-upside punt later in the season might be a good idea.

But we are talking about the best player in the game, in the middle of a historic FPL season, who could easily put up 20-30 points across the two games and you would not be surprised.

Playing the Assistant Manager chip on Arne Slot this week instead would give you these two games, Wolves at home and Manchester City away, so it is a longer-term play than Triple Captain.

It feels safe but with even less upside. For context, Liverpool could win both gameweek 24 matches 2-1 and your Assistant Manager chip would only earn you 16 points.

There is more upside with Triple Captain and there are likely to be at least two more bigger double gameweeks this season where your Bench Boost and Free Hit chips will work better.

Bryan Mbeumo, Brentford, £7.8m – home to Spurs

The Cameroon attacking midfielder has not been in this team for three weeks but he is not a player you can leave out for long.

He’s Salah-light – his team’s talisman, is on penalties, is consistent and loves a double-digit haul.

Home to leaky Tottenham is too juicy a match to pass up.

Cole Palmer, Chelsea, £11.3m – home to West Ham

    Palmer’s last six gameweeks: 10, 2, 10, 10, 2, 2.

You know what you are getting with the England playmaker at this point and it is hard to ignore him in a home game against any team.

Mikkel Damsgaard, Brentford, £5m – home to Spurs

Tottenham’s defence is so suspect that a second Brentford asset makes the team this week.

With Kevin Schade carrying a knock and no space for Yoan Wissa up front, Denmark’s Damsgaard comes in.

He seems to be growing in importance for the Bees with every game. In the past six games, Damsgaard has three assists and more key passes and big chances created than any other Brentford player.

As we enter gameweek 24 of the Fantasy Premier League, managers are gearing up for the first double gameweek of the season. This means that some teams will have two fixtures to rack up those all-important points, making it a crucial week for FPL success.

Here are some tips to help you navigate through this double gameweek:

    1. Load up on players from teams with two fixtures: Teams like Manchester City, Everton, Burnley, Fulham, and Aston Villa have double gameweeks, so consider stacking your team with players from these sides.

    2. Captaincy choice is key: With two games, your captain can potentially earn double the points. Look for players who are in good form and have favorable fixtures to maximize your chances of a big haul.

    3. Keep an eye on injuries and rotation: Double gameweeks can be tricky as managers may rotate their squads to manage fatigue. Stay updated on team news to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

    Team of the gameweek:

    GK: Nick Pope (Burnley)
    DEF: Lucas Digne (Everton)
    DEF: Joao Cancelo (Manchester City)
    DEF: Tyrone Mings (Aston Villa)
    MID: Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City)
    MID: James Maddison (Leicester City)
    MID: Ruben Dias (Manchester City)
    MID: Jack Grealish (Aston Villa)
    FWD: Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton)
    FWD: Chris Wood (Burnley)
    FWD: Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)

This team combines players from teams with double gameweeks along with some standout performers from other sides. Make sure to tweak it according to your preferences and budget constraints.

Good luck to all FPL managers in gameweek 24! Let’s make the most of this double gameweek and climb up the rankings.

  • FPL Double Gameweek 25 confirmed

Following Friday’s provisional fixture announcement, there is a confirmed Double Gameweek 25 (DGW25) in Fantasy Premier League.

Should Liverpool overcome a 1-0 deficit in their EFL Cup semi-final second leg against Tottenham Hotspur, both the Reds and Aston Villa will have a DGW25.

Consequently, both sides will be without a fixture in Gameweek 29, making it a Blank Gameweek 29 (BGW29).

Liverpool’s DGW25 would consist of a home match against Wolves and a trip to Villa, with Unai Emery’s side hosting Ipswich in their other DGW25 fixture.

But if Spurs make it through to the EFL Cup final, both they and Fulham would INSTEAD have a DGW25 and a BGW29, and Liverpool and Villa would NOT have a DGW25.

Spurs’ Double would see them face Manchester United at home and travel to Fulham, with Marco Silva’s men welcoming Nottingham Forest in their other DGW25 fixture.

In the other EFL Cup semi-final, Arsenal currently trail Newcastle United 2-0 after the first leg. Should they turn around the tie and make it through to the final, the Gunners and Chelsea would ALSO have a DGW25 and a Blank Gameweek 29.

Arsenal’s DGW25 would consist of a trip to Leicester City and a home fixture to Chelsea, with Enzo Maresca’s side visiting Brighton & Hove Albion in their other DGW25 fixture.

But if Newcastle progress to the final, they will have a BGW29, while Arsenal and Chelsea will NOT have a DGW25.

    Clubs’ potential DGW25 fixtures
    Club Matches
    Arsenal LEI (A), CHE (H)
Aston Villa IPS (H), LIV (H)
    Chelsea BHA (A), ARS (A)
    Fulham NFO (H), TOT (H)
    Liverpool WOL (H), AVL (A)
    Spurs MUN (H), FUL (A)

The news could radically alter plans in FPL, especially chip strategies for the weeks ahead.

Use Assistant Manager chip on Slot?

There will be even more interest in the Assistant Manager chip following Friday’s announcement.

By activating the chip ahead of DGW24, Fantasy managers COULD now get up to FIVE fixtures over the next three Gameweeks if Liverpool make it through to the EFL Cup final.

FPL managers can change their nominated Assistant Manager with free transfers, even if the Reds fail to progress, meaning Spurs and Fulham have a DGW25 instead.

For example, you could select Arne Slot (£1.5m) or David Moyes (£0.5m) as your Assistant Manager for DGW24, switching to Marco Silva or Ange Postecoglou (both £1.1m) in DGW25 if Spurs make it through to the final.

Save Triple Captain chip for potential DGW25?

If FPL managers aren’t using their Assistant Manager chip over the next two Gameweeks, then DGW25 could present another opportunity to use the Triple Captain chip.

Should Liverpool make it through to the EFL Cup final, for instance, then Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) would face Wolves and Villa in DGW25.

The Egyptian hit double-digit scores against both clubs earlier in the reverse fixtures.

Fantasy managers will be eagerly awaiting the results of the EFL Cup semi-final second legs then, with Newcastle against Arsenal on Wednesday 5 February before Liverpool host Spurs a day later.

Exciting news for all Fantasy Premier League managers! Double Gameweek 25 has been officially confirmed by the Premier League. This means that several teams will have the opportunity to play two matches in one gameweek, giving FPL managers the chance to earn double the points.

Make sure to keep an eye on the fixture schedule and plan your transfers and captain picks accordingly for Double Gameweek 25. This is a great opportunity to climb up the FPL rankings and gain an advantage over your rivals.

Stay tuned for more updates and tips on how to navigate Double Gameweek 25 in Fantasy Premier League. Good luck, managers! #FPL #DoubleGameweek25

  • FPL Gameweek 23 team news: Thursday’s injury updates

The pre-match press conferences for Gameweek 23 made a low-key start on Thursday.

Just four managers faced the media, with the headline team news from these pressers in the article below.

For the early injury situation at the other 16 Premier League clubs, read this piece here.

GAMEWEEK 23 TEAM NEWS: THURSDAY’S INJURY UPDATES

    BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION

Lewis Dunk (muscle) and Gameweek 22 absentee Matt O’Riley (knee) are doubts going into the weekend.

“We have some players who are doubtful, we don’t have a new big injury but some players, Matt O’Riley, Lewis Dunk, they are not 100% clear so we have to wait the next days but in general I think we will have a strong squad on the pitch.

“[O’Riley] had a small knee issue so he got a hit at his knee and it’s painful but it’s just a time thing so if he’s able to overcome the pain and if he can go through this pain. We will see the next days.

“[Dunk] has a small muscle problem, it’s nothing big so nothing structural but there we also have to wait the next two days.” – Fabian Hurzeler

Brajan Gruda (small issue) and Jack Hinshelwood (knee) could be back, however.

“So, I hope that Jack Hinshelwood will be an option and I’m quite positive that he will be. Brajan trained the last two days so I think they will be both options for the weekend.” – Fabian Hurzeler

James Milner (hamstring), Ferdi Kadioglu (toe), Evan Ferguson (ankle) and Igor Julio (hamstring) remain out.

Jason Steele has also undergone shoulder surgery and will be out “for the next month”.

Mats Wieffer (quad) is one name we didn’t get an update on: Hurzeler said last week that he’d be “back soon”.

    NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Forest have had a decent run in terms of avoiding injuries, with long-term absentee Ibrahima Sangare (hamstring) the only red-flagged player. Even he is back on the grass, albeit not in full team training.

The Tricky Trees will have to check on Callum Hudson-Odoi (groin), however. The winger exited the win over Southampton after complaining of feeling “stiff” following a sprint.

“He felt the groin very tight. So, a lot of pain. He has been a couple of days out. We have to assess and see if he is available or not.” – Nuno Espirito Santo on Callum Hudson-Odoi

We’re not aware of any other new issues for the Premier League high flyers.

    IPSWICH TOWN

Chiedozie Ogbene (Achilles), Sammie Szmodics (ankle) and Conor Chaplin (knee) remain on Ipswich Town’s injury list.

Ogbene is out for the season, with the other two failing to recover for Gameweek 23.

“Nothing too drastically different. Sam Szmodics and Conor Chapin are still going to fall short.” – Kieran McKenna, quoted by the East Anglian Daily Times

Loanee Kalvin Phillips is available again, having been ineligible to face his parent club last Sunday.

Axel Tuanzebe (hamstring) returned last weekend as a substitute and could start against Liverpool.

“He’s come through well. It was a big, big positive from the day. There was a small debate on starting him because he’d trained well a few days before but despite how the day went, we’re probably glad with that decision because he came through the game well, had some good training days, and is now more ready to start a game than he was last weekend. Whether that will happen this Saturday or in one of the games coming up, he’s certainly getting closer to that point.” – Kieran McKenna on Axel Tuanzebe, quoted by the East Anglian Daily Times

Julio Enciso is available for selection after his loan move from Brighton and Hove Albion was confirmed.

“I think he’s, in essence, a number 10 behind the front man. He can play off the wide areas coming into the No.10 off both sides. He’s played as a false nine dropping down into the 10 spaces. I think he’s a player who thrives being in the half spaces and between the lines where he [can] turn, shoot, dribble and play passes. Those are the areas of the pitch we need to try and get him.” – Kieran McKenna on Julio Enciso, quoted by the East Anglian Daily Times

    SOUTHAMPTON

Tyler Dibling (ankle) remains out but estimates that he could be out for 4-6 weeks appear to be wide of the mark.

“No, now in this moment we are a little bit more optimistic and we will see next week how we are proceeding.

“Everybody is more optimistic and we will see. Next week we can say something more.” – Ivan Juric on whether Tyler Dibling will be out for 4-6 weeks, via the Daily Echo

Kamaldeen Sulemana, who had been partnering Dibling up top recently, is also out.

“I think he did some really good games since I arrived and he will not play against Newcastle because he has a little injury.

“He has a little bit of a problem with his hamstrings and they are really scared about that, all medical staff, because he had problems in the past.

“We know that when he starts to play regularly that we can have problems. I think it’s, I hope that it’s nothing, and from Monday he will start training with the team.” – Ivan Juric on Kamaldeen Sulemena, via the Daily Echo

To top that off, goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is now a doubt.

“We have some problems with Rambo, with the goalkeeper. We will see tomorrow. I hope that he will be fine. And I think everybody is fit.

“No, he did something yesterday on the training ground. He feels pain here and we will see tomorrow.” – Ivan Juric, via the Daily Echo

Jack Stephens (unknown), Juan Larios (unknown) and Ross Stewart (hamstring) are thought to remain out but Gavin Bazunu (Achilles) recently featured for the under-21s after a long-term lay-off.

New loan signing Albert Gronbaek has only trained once with his new teammates so may not be involved.

As we head into Gameweek 23 of the Fantasy Premier League, there are a number of key injury updates to keep in mind when setting your team. Here are the latest updates from Thursday:

    1. Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne is set to miss out on the upcoming gameweek due to a hamstring injury. This will be a blow for FPL managers who have him in their squads, as the Belgian has been a key player for City this season.

    2. Liverpool’s Diogo Jota is also a doubt for the upcoming gameweek due to a minor injury. The Portuguese forward has been in fine form recently, so his absence would be a big loss for FPL managers who have been relying on his goals and assists.

    3. Chelsea’s Reece James is another player who could miss out on Gameweek 23 due to injury. The full-back has been a key player for Chelsea this season, so his absence would be a blow for FPL managers who have him in their squads.

    4. Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford is also a doubt for the upcoming gameweek due to a shoulder injury. The forward has been struggling with injuries this season, so FPL managers will need to keep an eye on his fitness ahead of the weekend.

Overall, it looks like Gameweek 23 could be a challenging one for FPL managers with a number of key players potentially missing out due to injury. Be sure to keep an eye on the latest team news and updates before finalizing your squad for the weekend.

  • FPL Gameweek 23: Three Bonus Points

Fantasy Premier League managers will be looking forward to a relatively relaxed Saturday 1.30 p.m. GMT deadline for Gameweek 23.

No games on Friday night and no early Saturday kick-offs allow for plenty of time for last-minute changes.

There is a double Gameweek on the horizon for two teams, while there are some of the best attacks in the league playing against some of the worst defenses which should make for a high-scoring week.

The most interesting game this weekend might be Bournemouth against Nottingham Forest—two of the most admired teams in the league who both have different but highly effective approaches to the game.

In FPL terms, it is the game of Justin Kluivert versus Matz Sels.

    Can Bournemouth Break Down Forest?

Kluivert’s hat-trick versus Newcastle last week sees him the most transferred-in player of the week so far.

This despite Bournemouth’s next two games being against the teams with two of the best defensive records in the league—Nottingham Forest and Liverpool.

This doesn’t always mean an in-form attack will not continue to fire, and Bournemouth’s attack certainly seems to be in-form having scored nine goals in its last four games, including four against Newcastle.

Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo are the obvious choices if sticking with Bournemouth players through their tougher games against Forest and Liverpool, before they face an easier opponent in Southampton in Gameweek 25.

However, Dango Ouattara has started each game since both Evanilson and Enes Ünal have been out injured and has the best underlying attacking numbers per 90 of any Bournemouth player, slightly ahead of Kluivert even after his hat-trick, offering both a creative and scoring threat.

    Good Attacks Versus Bad Defenses

Tottenham Hotspur’s game against Leicester City is one of the best example of a few games this week that pit a strong attacking team against a team with a poor defensive record.

Spurs’ defense itself isn’t the best, so there might even be a case for picking a Leicester midfielder or forward too, but it should be worth turning to a Tottenham player this week.

Dejan Kulusevski has the second most shot-creating actions in the league after Cole Palmer, but Son Heung-min remains above him in terms of the quality of chances created.

There is not much data to go off for Richarlison this season, but he historically produces good underlying attacking numbers and could be worth a punt in the absence of Dominic Solanke.

Beyond this, Newcastle forward Alexander Isak is the second most obvious attacking pick this week (see below for the top one).

Newcastle face a Southampton team that has the worst defensive numbers in the league, and it would be a surprise to see the likes of Isak and Anthony Gordon not register a decent score this week.

Arsenal (Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli, and Kai Havertz) are another team that should get plenty of chances when they face Wolves, while Aston Villa (Ollie Watkins, Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers) will fancy their chances against West Ham.

Liverpool Face Ipswich Before Double Gameweek.

The team with the most goals scored and fewest conceded in the Premier League facing the team with the third-fewest scored and third-most conceded seems like it should be the go-to game for guaranteed points in defence and attack this week.

Ipswich has the second-lowest xG in the league and second-highest xG against, so the underlying data pretty much matches the goals.

On top of this, Liverpool has a double gameweek in Gameweek 24 as it makes up the postponed fixture against Everton, so making sure your team is stocked with Liverpool players seems like a no-brainer.

The bigger challenge might be to find players who’ll play in all three of these upcoming games against Ipswich in Gameweek 23, and Bournemouth and Everton in Gameweek 24.

Alisson (goalkeeper), Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander Arnold will likely be the most reliable options in defence, while Ibrahima Konaté has been eased back into the team so far following a recent injury and may now be ready for two games per week.

Mohamed Salah is the obvious go-to player for attacking minutes and potential high scoring, even though he’s been off the boil a bit of late.

Many FPL managers are opting for Luis Diaz, who is the most transferred-in of Liverpool’s players so far this week, while others are going for Cody Gakpo.

Gakpo and Diaz have previously been rotated, sometimes with each other, but Diogo Jota’s injury troubles have meant they’ve started plenty of Premier League games together lately.

Darwin Nunez starting up front and playing the full 90 minutes in the midweek Champions League match suggests Gakpo and Diaz will continue to start in the league.

An injury to Curtis Jones could mean guaranteed game time for Dominik Szoboszlai, who could be an alternative, cheaper midfield option.

When Szoboszlai starts, he regularly does so in the most advanced midfield position, almost alongside the striker in attack.

If he is rested at any point, it will likely be via second-half swaps with Harvey Elliott, who assisted a goal in Liverpool’s late win at Bournemouth in the previous league game.

As we head into FPL Gameweek 23, it’s important to keep an eye on those valuable bonus points that can make all the difference in your fantasy team’s performance. Here are three players to consider who could potentially earn bonus points in the upcoming gameweek:

    1. Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) – Fernandes has been a consistent performer for Manchester United this season, and he’s always a threat to pick up bonus points with his goal-scoring and assist-making abilities. With United facing Southampton in Gameweek 23, Fernandes could be in line for a big points haul.

    2. Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) – Kane is another player who is always in the mix for bonus points, thanks to his scoring and playmaking prowess. Tottenham are set to take on West Brom in Gameweek 23, and Kane will be looking to add to his impressive tally of goals and assists.

    3. Ruben Dias (Manchester City) – Dias has been a rock at the back for Manchester City this season, helping the team keep plenty of clean sheets. In Gameweek 23, City are up against Burnley, and Dias will be aiming to shut down the opposition and potentially earn some bonus points in the process.

These three players could be key to helping your fantasy team succeed in Gameweek 23, so make sure to consider adding them to your squad for the upcoming fixtures. Good luck to all FPL managers!

  • Lateriser’s FPL Gameweek 23 team + transfer plans

In his latest article, two-time Indian Fantasy Premier League (FPL) champion Lateriser gives an opinion on Liverpool players ahead of Gameweek 23, as his long-running Erling Haaland (£14.7m) experiment is about to end.

Our writers are providing regular articles throughout the season, with only subscribers able to access every single one.

I gave it a good go but my Haaland experiment is now over. Unfortunately, things didn’t quite work out and it was quite funny that the final match involved Manchester City finally exploding into a 6-0 win where Haaland could only muster one goal. Oh well.

Although the champions are next facing the slightly leaky Chelsea defence, it is time to sell because – as you may have heard – a Double Gameweek is coming.

    IT’S A LIVERPOOL FEAST

By beating Lille in the Champions League, Liverpool have confirmed this double and they even have a weekend game against Ipswich Town beforehand. Plus, a dead rubber game against PSV Eindhoven.

One of this week’s articles brought up a lovely visual:

    Lateriser 20

You’d think that the first-choice XI faces Ipswich and the backups take part against PSV. Yet there is no clear-cut first choice outside of Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) in their front three. The defence looks fairly stable but with uncertainty over Ibrahima Konate’s (£5.1m) fitness and Andrew Robertson‘s (£5.9m) place.

Here’s some data from Gameweek 12 onwards:

    Lateriser 21

After Salah, Cody Gakpo (£7.5m) has played the most minutes amongst attackers, with the caveat of Diogo Jota (£7.2m) being injured and Darwin Nunez (£7.0m) not putting his hand up for most of this period.

But Gakpo’s underlying data is also pretty good. He’s only behind Salah in this period for non-penalty expected goal involvement (NPxGI, 5.61) as well as attacking returns (six). If wanting to pick between Gakpo, Luis Diaz (£7.5m) or Dominik Szoboszlai (£6.3m) in attack, I’d lean towards the Dutchman.

It might seem a bit of a short-term pick, as we’d ideally hold onto Liverpool assets for a while. But should Gakpo’s minutes look dicey after Double Gameweek 24, there are many forwards to buy.

    DOUBLE DEFENCE

While pretty much every FPL manager agrees that Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.3m) are the top two Liverpool picks, your third spot is largely team-dependent. I like the idea of people getting an extra defender like Virgil van Dijk (£6.4m). He has a habit of popping up with a Double Gameweek goal and the Reds could rack up a few home clean sheets up until Gameweek 33.

With Alisson Becker (£5.5m), I’m hesitant because having Arsenal’s David Raya (£5.6m) as an expensive goalkeeper hasn’t gone particularly well for me. Furthermore, Liverpool could blank in Gameweek 29.

So if you’re a Lukasz Fabianski (£4.1m) owner, buying Alisson would require the Pole still being West Ham United’s starting stopper by that blank, which we don’t know because new boss Graham Potter mentioned an Alphonse Areola (£4.2m) injury. Fabianski hasn’t been playing too well either and Potter does tend to prefer goalkeepers who are comfortable with the ball.

If Liverpool do indeed blank in Gameweek 29, a Fabianski benching will then corner you into either a goalkeeper transfer, playing with 10 men or using a Free Hit. Although activating the chip at this stage might end up being a popular strategy regardless.

My favourite third picks are therefore Gakpo in attack and van Djik in defence. The lingering question marks over Konate’s availability keep me away from him.

Of course, you could hold fire and not buy a third Liverpool player until more information comes in, such as another Double Gameweek being announced. It could bring an immediate desire to use the Assistant Manager chip on Arne Slot. Having said that, I’m still cautious about Liverpool’s two away trips in Gameweek 24.

    MY GAMEWEEK 23 TEAM

That’s all from me this week. You can view more on this week’s episode of The FPL Wire with myself, Pras and Zophar.

Hey FPL managers! Here is a look at my team for Gameweek 23 and my transfer plans:

    Goalkeeper:
    1. Ederson (Manchester City)

    Defenders:
    2. Cancelo (Manchester City)
    3. Dias (Manchester City)
    4. Robertson (Liverpool)

    Midfielders:
    5. Fernandes (Manchester United)
    6. Salah (Liverpool)
    7. Son (Tottenham)
    8. Grealish (Aston Villa)

    Forwards:
    9. Kane (Tottenham)
    10. Calvert-Lewin (Everton)
    11. Bamford (Leeds)

    Bench:
    12. Martinez (Aston Villa)
    13. Coufal (West Ham)
    14. Soucek (West Ham)
    15. Dallas (Leeds)

    Transfer plans:
I am considering making a transfer this week to strengthen my team. I am thinking of bringing in Ilkay Gundogan from Manchester City as he has been in great form recently and has a favorable fixture in Gameweek 23. I am still undecided on who to transfer out, but I will be monitoring player form and injuries before making my final decision.

Good luck to everyone in Gameweek 23! Let’s hope for some big points! #FPL #FantasyPremierLeague #GW23

  • FPL tips and team of gameweek 19: Salah, Isak, Diaz and Maddison all make the cut

FPL tips and team of gameweek 19: Salah, Isak, Diaz and Maddison all make the cut

Mohamed Salah, Liverpool, £13.5m – away at West Ham

Even in a “quietish” game on Boxing Day, Salah still got nine points.

It’s hard to see a week in the near future where you wouldn’t captain him too.

Luis Diaz, Liverpool, £7.5m – away at West Ham

Diaz is a risky, mega-high upside pick. He rarely starts back-to-back games but, with four double-digit returns (13,14,15 and 16 points) in 11 starts, the potential is huge.

He was rested against Leicester, so should play at the Hammers and Liverpool have scored two or more goals in each of their past 10 games. Salah can’t hog all the points!

Ismaila Sarr, Crystal Palace, £5.8m – home to Southampton

No midfielder has more big chances than the Senegal international in the past four gameweeks.

He has become a consistent statistical performer – three shots per game in that period, 10 in the box, seven on target…

With those kind of numbers – and playing against the worst team in the league – there’s a great chance of some sort of return.

James Maddison, Tottenham, £7.7m – home to Wolves

Despite their two recent wins, Wolves at home is still a plum FPL match-up – especially for a high-scoring team like Spurs.

It can feel like pot luck choosing a Tottenham midfield asset – they all have their merits – but Maddison is the top points scorer and always highly involved [when he plays].

The England man has been involved in 33% of Tottenham’s goals when he is on the pitch and they could score three or more against Wolves.

Cole Palmer (vice captain), Chelsea, £11.3m – away at Ipswich

With Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka out for a while, it feels like most teams will have Salah and Palmer.

The Chelsea talisman is on course to finish with around 300 points this season and he’d be the most important player in the game if Salah wasn’t about.

Could you captain him this week? If you’re the gambling type then why not. He outscored Salah last gameweek – by a point!

Are you ready for another exciting round of Fantasy Premier League action? Gameweek 19 is just around the corner and we’ve got some top tips and a winning team lineup to help you climb up the ranks.

First up, Mohamed Salah is a must-have in your team. The Liverpool forward has been in sensational form this season, consistently delivering points for FPL managers. With a favourable fixture against Newcastle United, Salah is a great captaincy choice for gameweek 19.

Next, Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak is a budget-friendly option for your forward line. The Swedish striker has been in fine form in La Liga and has a favourable matchup against Osasuna this week.

In defense, Joao Cancelo’s Manchester City teammate, Ruben Dias, is a solid pick. The Portuguese center-back has been a rock at the back for City and has the potential to rack up points through clean sheets and bonus points.

Lastly, Leicester City’s James Maddison is a sneaky midfield option for gameweek 19. The English playmaker has been in good form recently and has the ability to score goals and provide assists for the Foxes.

Without further ado, here’s our team of gameweek 19:

    Goalkeeper: Ederson (Manchester City)
Defenders: Ruben Dias (Manchester City), Andrew Robertson (Liverpool), Ben Chilwell (Chelsea)
Midfielders: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), James Maddison (Leicester City), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)
Forwards: Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Alexander Isak (Real Sociedad), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton)

Good luck with your FPL team for gameweek 19 and may your players deliver plenty of points!

  • NMA – EPL GW-18 FPL Player Picks

NMA – EPL GW-18 FPL Player Picks

With many goals last time out, we look forward to some great Boxing Day clashes as per usual. Man City gets us kick-started against a resolute Everton, followed by a West-London Derby. The game-week concludes with Arsenal on Friday. Here our player picks with a few double-ups thrown in to maximize the free-scoring teams!

    Goalkeepers

Robert Sánchez (£4.8m, CHE vs FUL)

Chelsea kept a clean-sheet for last time out. Next up is a derby that could well be cagey. Fulham failed to score last time out, so Sanchez will be looking for a 2nd CS on the bounce.

    ~

Kepa Arrizabalaga (£4.5, BOU vs CRY)

Another Chelsea player (technically) in the form of Kepa is having a great season so far at his loan club. He made a great save in the 3-0 win at Old Trafford last time out and should see this form go into a home fixture against Palace.

    Defenders

Marc Cucurella (£5.2, CHE vs FUL)

Doubling up on Chelsea vs Fulham here. Cucurella sat out last time due to suspension but should be back for this. He has been delivering strong attacking returns in recent times and was missed in the goal-less draw.

    ~

Trent Alexander Arnold (£7.0m, LIV vs LEI)

TAA put in an absolute peach of a ball that invited Szoboszlai to ease his header. With runners like Liverpool’s coursing through Leicester’s middle, Trent should get more opportunity to do what he does best.

    ~

Gabriel Magalhães (£6.3m, ARS vs IPS)

He struck the crossbar with another header from a corner and is always confident he has a decent chance score in that situation. Arsenal has a mouthwatering home fixture against relegation-zone opposition, so Gabriel will hopefully add to his assist from last time out.

    Midfielders

Dominik Szoboszlai (£6.3m, LIV vs LEI)

It’s worth doubling up on Liverpool in attack against leaky Leicester, and Szoboszlai offers great potential as a differential, currently under 2% ownership. He was making commanding runs in the box and was rewarded with a goal plus three assists last time out.

    ~

Mo Salah (£13.5m, LIV vs LEI)

On PK duty and on fire, Salah is a mainstay in our picks (and captain candidates). Not much else to say other than he’s failed to register an attacking return only twice this season and is on a run of nine games with goal-contributions. He scored a brace plus two assists last time out against Tottenham, so it should be fun to watch what he does against one of the league’s leakiest defenses.

    ~

Morgan Rogers (£5.3m, NEW vs AST)

This will be a tough fixture against a free-scoring Newcastle side, but Aston Villa will be gaining confidence after the win over Man City. Rogers was unplayable at times, getting on the scoresheet as well as supplying an assist.

    ~

Jacob Murphy (£4.9m, NEW vs AST)

A great differential as well as a budget enabler, Murphy has delivered in his last three games straight — three goals plus three assists. NewcaXstle is in the mood for goals so he’s worth backing!

    Forwards

Alexander Isak (£8.9m, NEW vs AST)

As explained with Murphy, Newcastle is in strong goal-scoring form, namely because of Isak as their talisman. He grabbed a hattrick last time out, making six in his last four while also chipping in with two assists.

Caveat: Editor Jeff has threatened to buy him into his FPL and both Fantrax squads for Boxing Day — You’ve been warned!

    ~

Dominic Solanke (£7.5m, NOT vs TOT)

Tottenham may be open with Ange’s style of play under criticism, but this does mean attacking options are worth a look. Solanke gets solid game-time, scoring and assisting in GW-17.

    ~

Gabriel Jesus – (£6.8m, ARS vs IPS)

Jesus has been banging in the goals for Arsenal lately, and against the same side twice in a week! He backed up his mid-week EFL cup hattrick against Palace by scoring a brace plus an assist to beat the Eagles again on the weekend. He’s a great differential pick while injury-free and in form.

As we head into Gameweek 18 of the English Premier League, it’s time to make some crucial decisions for our Fantasy Premier League teams. Here are some player picks that could help you gain an edge over your rivals:

    1. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – Salah has been in scintillating form this season and is a must-have in your FPL team. He has been consistently delivering points and is capable of scoring big in any game.

    2. Harry Kane (Tottenham) – Kane is another player who has been in top form this season. He has been scoring goals for fun and is a reliable source of points for FPL managers.

    3. Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) – De Bruyne is one of the best midfielders in the league and is a key player for Manchester City. He has the ability to create chances and score goals, making him a valuable asset for your FPL team.

    4. Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) – Fernandes has been a key player for Manchester United this season and is a great option for FPL managers. He is involved in a lot of United’s attacking play and is capable of scoring goals and providing assists.

    5. Patrick Bamford (Leeds United) – Bamford has been one of the surprise packages of the season and is a great budget option for FPL managers. He has been scoring goals consistently for Leeds and is a great differential pick.

These are just a few player picks to consider for Gameweek 18 of the English Premier League. Make sure to do your own research and analysis before making your final decisions. Good luck!

  • FPL Gameweek 18: Three Bonus Points

FPL Gameweek 18: Three Bonus Points

A set of festive midweek games gives Fantasy Premier League managers plenty to think about during the holidays.

The next deadline falls early on Boxing Day, or Gameweek 18 as it’s more commonly known this year, with FPL teams needing to be set before an 11 a.m. GMT deadline.

It’s also worth bearing in mind that the second wildcard will be available after Gameweek 19 so these are the final opportunities to play the first wildcard before it expires.

Will Manchester City Turn Things Around?

On paper, Pep Guardiola’s team have an easy run of games, with upcoming fixtures against Everton at home, Leicester City away, and West Ham United at home all being given a Fixture Difficulty Rating of just 2 out of 5.

Everton has kept clean sheets in recent games against would-be title challengers Arsenal and Chelsea, so this Boxing Day fixture might not be as easy for City as first thought.

The Toffees have clean sheets in five of six games since Jarrad Branthwaite returned to the starting lineup on a full-time basis.

City must turn things around at some point, though, and it would only take one combination of players, such as Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland, for example, to start firing in a single game to give them a lift in a run of fixtures.

It could be worth taking a gamble on this happening against Everton at home.

Jesus To Build On Pre-Christmas Momentum

Gabriel Jesus had made only sporadic appearances in the Premier League for much of the season, but a free-scoring performance in the League Cup against Crystal Palace persuaded Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to include the Brazilian in the league game against the same opposition last weekend.

Jesus had not scored in the Premier League at all this season until that game in which he scored a brace, building on his cup hat trick.

Other factors could mean Jesus remains in the team more often than not in the coming months.

The biggest of those is the injury to Bukayo Saka, meaning there is a free space on the right wing. Jesus could take that himself, but even if he doesn’t he could slot in elsewhere.

This doesn’t mean dropping Kai Havertz, either, as the German played in midfield against Palace in the league, with Jesus as a center-forward.

Even if Havertz returns to his position up front, Jesus could play on either wing and could be set for a run in the team.

    Join The 66% With Salah

It might already be too late, but it’s probably time to get Salah as 66% of other FPL managers have.

The Egyptian is the best player in the Premier League so far this season and has only failed to register double points in five of the 17 Gameweeks he’s played in so far. On top of this, he’s only failed to register any bonus points in four Gameweeks.

There was, of course, the postponed game against Everton, meaning Liverpool and Liverpool players have an extra game to play to make up for that week off.

With Salah in place, the differentials will come elsewhere, and for Liverpool Dominik Szoboszlai (6.3) and Joe Gomez (4.9) are among the cheaper options likely to feature.

Szoboszlai registered three assists and a goal against Tottenham and will be looking to continue creating for Salah and scoring goals of his own in the coming weeks.

Another exciting week of Fantasy Premier League action is in the books, and as we look ahead to Gameweek 18, it’s time to highlight three players who earned themselves three bonus points in their respective matches.

    1. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – The Egyptian forward was in scintillating form once again as he scored a brace in Liverpool’s 4-1 victory over Everton in the Merseyside derby. Salah’s performance earned him three bonus points, making him a must-have for FPL managers looking to bolster their attacking options.

    2. James Maddison (Leicester City) – Maddison was instrumental in Leicester’s 4-0 thrashing of Newcastle, providing two assists and earning himself three bonus points in the process. The midfielder has been a consistent performer for the Foxes this season and is a valuable asset for FPL managers seeking midfield options.

    3. Mason Mount (Chelsea) – Mount was the standout performer in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Leeds, scoring a goal and providing an assist to help his team secure all three points. The young midfielder’s impressive display earned him three bonus points, highlighting his importance to the Chelsea side.

These three players showcased their talent and were rewarded with three bonus points for their contributions in Gameweek 18. FPL managers should consider adding them to their squads for the upcoming fixtures as they look to continue their strong performances on the pitch.
