Trumark Homes, an award-winning homebuilder across the Western United States, announced its acquisition of Icon Lending, a mortgage brokerage in Fresno, on Jan. 28.

“Now we get the opportunity to go out, recruit more people, and expand into the other divisions that Trumark operates,” he said.

Gregg Nelson, the co-founder and co-CEO of Trumark Companies, emphasized the company’s commitment to growth, financial services, and enhancing the homebuying experience.

“We are actively seeking out opportunities to strategically grow Trumark Homes, which includes incorporating financial services and resources to support homebuyers on their journey and create exceptional experiences,” Nelson said. “This acquisition aligns perfectly with our brand purpose: to enhance people’s lives by creating inspiring living environments, ensuring that the entire home buying process is as supportive and seamless as possible.”

    WHY THE TRITONS?
The Triton is described as the offspring of Poseidon and Amphitrite, a demigod of the sea with a lower part of the body like that of a fish. It is known as a mighty and fierce sea warrior. Given UC San Diego’s close proximity to the Pacific Ocean and its connections with the world-famous Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the Triton became our mascot in 1964.

    About UC San Diego Athletics
After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program began a new era in 2020 as a member of The Big West in NCAA Division I. The 23-sport Tritons earned 30 team and nearly 150 individual national championships during its time in Divisions II and III and helped guide 1,400 scholar-athletes to All-America honors. A total of 84 Tritons have earned Academic All-America honors, while 38 have earned prestigious NCAA Post Graduate Scholarships. UC San Diego scholar-athletes exemplify the academic ideals of one of the world’s preeminent institutions, graduating at an average rate of 91 percent, one of the highest rates among institutions at all divisions.

  • Fresno Is Getting Sideswiped by Next Two Rainstorms

Fresno Is Getting Sideswiped by Next Two Rainstorms

Fresno’s weather over the next few days will be somewhat like the poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: “Into each life some rain must fall.”

We’re getting sideswiped by a winter storm that will bring heavier amounts of rain and snow to Northern California and southern Oregon but only a tenth of an inch of rain to Fresno and a few inches of snow to the central Sierra, National Weather Service meteorologist David Spector said Thursday morning.

Overnight lows early next week will drop into the upper 30s in Fresno and the mid-30s for the rural parts of the Valley, so residents there may see some frosty windshields, he said.

Once those waves of wet weather move on, we’re looking at a high-pressure system that will mean slightly higher than normal temperatures and dry weather by the end of next week, Spector said.

“Yep, we are in a La Niña,” he said.

    Warm-up on the Way

The mountains and desert will see warmer than normal temperatures, but the Valley’s highs could be constrained if there’s a build-up of tule fog after the rain storms, Spector said.

The eight-day outlook for Fresno is: today, high of 57, overnight low of 49; Friday, 59, low of 47; Saturday, 61, low of 47; Sunday, 60, low of 44; Monday, 54, low of 39; Tuesday, 53, low of 38; New Year’s Day, 55, low of 40; and Jan. 2, a high of 58.

As residents of Fresno brace themselves for the next two rainstorms, the city is facing the potential for significant impacts. With already saturated ground from previous storms and ongoing flooding concerns, the upcoming weather systems are expected to bring heavy rain and the possibility of strong winds.

Roadways are at risk of flooding, leading to potential traffic disruptions and hazardous driving conditions. Residents in low-lying areas are advised to take precautions to protect their property and be prepared for possible evacuations. The city is also closely monitoring water levels in local rivers and creeks, which could rise rapidly with the additional rainfall.

In addition to the immediate impacts, there is also the potential for longer-term consequences such as mudslides and debris flows in areas affected by recent wildfires. The combination of heavy rain and unstable terrain poses a serious risk to public safety and infrastructure.

As Fresno prepares for the incoming storms, it is essential for residents to stay informed, follow official guidance, and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being. Let’s all do our part to weather these storms together and emerge stronger on the other side.
