The Cowboys appear to be closing in on their next offensive coordinator, but names of candidates are still being added to the mix.

Reports indicate that Arizona offensive line coach Klayton Adams is interviewing in-person at The Star on Friday. It’s the second interview for the 41-year-old, following a previous virtual conversation with the front office.

Though he has not yet been in an OC role, Adams is considered an up-and-comer within coaching circles and is thought by many to be the strong frontrunner for the job in Dallas, where newly-named head coach Brian Schottenheimer will call his own plays during games.

But a member of Dan Campbell’s staff in Detroit is also getting a look from the Cowboys, per reports. According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, the team also interviewed Lions running backs coach and assistant head coach Scottie Montgomery for the position.

Montgomery, 46, worked as the Colts’ running backs coach in 2021 and 2022 after a long stint in the college ranks in various roles, including OC duties at both Maryland and Duke and three years as head coach at East Carolina.

While his name may not be one that most Cowboys fans are immediately familiar with, his former coordinator in Detroit has no doubt he’s ready for the next step in his NFL coaching journey.

“He’s got a unique perspective because he’s been in that head chair at the college level, and you feel that when you’re in the meeting room,” Ben Johnson said just last month of Montgomery, per The Detroit News. “He understands how lonely it can be at the top at times.”

Johnson now finds himself at the top in Chicago, and he believes Montgomery is on the same track.

“He’s certainly ready to call plays,” Johnson added. “He’s done that in the past. Whenever he gets that opportunity, he’ll do that. And I think he’s going to be a heck of a great head coach one day when he gets that chance.”

Under Montgomery’s tutelage, the Lions finished the 2024 season ranked sixth in the league in rushing yards and yards per carry and were tied for the second-most rushing touchdowns. The previous year, Detroit ranked fifth in the same yardage categories and were tied for league lead in ground scores.

Falcons tight ends coach Kevin Koger has also sat down with the Cowboys about their offensive coordinator vacancy. Additionally, former Browns and Bills OC Ken Dorsey was supposedly drawing interest from the Dallas front office, but no interview with him has been made public.

  • Liam Coen now front-runner for Jaguars HC position after agreeing to extension with Buccaneers as OC

Liam Coen might not be staying put in Tampa after all.

Just a day after agreeing to terms on an extension with the Buccaneers as their offensive coordinator, Coen is in Jacksonville speaking about the Jaguars’ head coaching opening and has emerged as the frontrunner for the position, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Coen informed the Jags he was taking himself out of the running for their HC vacancy. However, after Jacksonville parted ways with general manager Trent Baalke later in the day, the team reached back out to Coen, per Pelissero, and now the two sides potentially are headed toward a deal.

Around the NFL will have more shortly.

In a surprising turn of events, Liam Coen has emerged as the front-runner for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coaching position. This news comes after Coen agreed to a contract extension with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to remain as their offensive coordinator.

Coen, who has been praised for his innovative offensive schemes and play-calling, has quickly risen up the coaching ranks in the NFL. After working as an assistant under Sean McVay with the Los Angeles Rams, Coen joined the Buccaneers this past season and helped lead their high-powered offense to a successful campaign.

With the Jaguars in need of a new head coach following the departure of Urban Meyer, Coen’s name has been floated as a potential candidate for the job. The team’s leadership is reportedly impressed with Coen’s coaching style and believe he could be the right person to lead the team in the future.

While nothing has been made official yet, sources close to the situation suggest that Coen is the top choice for the Jaguars’ head coaching position. Fans are eagerly awaiting an official announcement from the team, as they hope Coen can bring success and stability to the franchise. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

  • Now I Understand Why Kieran Culkin Is The Best Supporting Actor Oscar Frontrunner

WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for A Real Pain.

After seeing Culkin’s standout performance in A Real Pain, his current frontrunner status for the 2025 Best Supporting Actor Oscar makes a lot of sense. Despite his supporting role, Culkin leads the cast of A Real Pain alongside Will Sharpe (The White Lotus), Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing), Kurt Egyiawan (The Agency), and Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), who also wrote and directed the film. After his win at the 2025 Golden Globes, Kieran Culkin has emerged as the frontrunner in the Best Supporting Actor race at the 2025 Oscars.

Now that A Real Pain is streaming on Hulu, it’s easy to understand for viewers just watching it for the first time why Culkin is the frontrunner for the Supporting Actor Oscar based on his performance. The 2025 Golden Globe results provide a strong indication of how several 2025 Oscars races will shape up, including Culkin’s surprise win over Denzel Washington for Best Supporting Actor. Culkin, who won an Emmy and a previous Golden Globe for his role in the HBO drama series Succession, has never been nominated for an Academy Award at the time of writing.

Kieran Culkin Gives An Incredible Performance In A Real Pain

Culkin offers an unparalleled signature performance as Benji

Benji (Kieran Culkin) smiling in the airport in A Real Pain

While A Real Pain is very much Jesse Eisenberg’s movie as its writer, director, and lead actor, Kieran Culkin steals the show with his emotionally moving performance. Like many other great actors, Culkin has a signature style, which some may even call a shtick, that involves a rapid-fire wit with a fiery sensitivity, which can often inspire explosive reactions and decisions in his characters. His Emmy-winning performance as Roman Roy in Succession carries a similar frantic and unpredictable energy, somehow making blatant dysfunction and bluntness charming.

Golden Globes 2025: 8 Biggest Snubs & Surprises

The 82nd Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 5, 2025, had several major surprises and a few clear snubs.

Just a few weeks ago, the 2025 Best Supporting Actor Oscar was thought to be Denzel Washington’s to lose. While Washington was arguably the highlight of Gladiator II, which also featured an impressive action epic debut from Paul Mescal, Cullkin now has an edge on him after his Golden Globes win. Without Culkin as the sentimental yet problematic Benji there to foil Eisenberg’s strict and neurotic David, the film may not have been so well-received. Culkin was perfectly cast in A Real Pain and for that reason deserves the Oscar.

After Watching A Real Pain, I Agree Kieran Culkin Deserves The Best Supporting Actor Oscar

Culkin is the only one of the projected nominees whose performance feels irreplaceable

Culkin’s performance is so strong and integral to his respective film that he truly deserves the Oscar in 2025. Washington was the standout of Gladiator II and should make it a tight race, while Guy Pearce of The Brutalist could make a push in the coming weeks, as well as Edward Norton for his transformative performance as “America’s tuning fork” Pete Seeger from A Complete Unknown. Dark horses Jeremy Strong of The Apprentice and Yura Borisov of Anora are still well within the conversation. Culkin, however, is arguably the only projected Supporting Actor nominee who feels irreplaceable in his film, which is why he should win for A Real Pain.

After watching Kieran Culkin’s incredible performance in “Succession,” I finally understand why he is the best supporting actor Oscar frontrunner. Culkin’s portrayal of Roman Roy, the arrogant and witty son of media mogul Logan Roy, is nothing short of mesmerizing. From his sharp one-liners to his vulnerable moments, Culkin brings depth and complexity to his character in a way that is truly remarkable.

Culkin’s ability to seamlessly navigate between comedy and drama is a testament to his incredible talent as an actor. He brings a level of nuance and subtlety to his performance that elevates every scene he is in. Whether he is engaging in a power struggle with his siblings or grappling with his own insecurities, Culkin’s performance is always captivating and compelling.

In a show filled with standout performances, Culkin shines as a scene-stealer who consistently delivers memorable moments. His chemistry with the rest of the cast is palpable, and his dynamic with his on-screen family adds another layer of complexity to the show.

As the awards season approaches, it is clear that Culkin is a strong contender for the best supporting actor Oscar. His performance in “Succession” is truly deserving of recognition, and I can’t wait to see him take home the award. Kieran Culkin is undoubtedly a talent to watch, and his portrayal of Roman Roy solidifies his status as a frontrunner in the race for the best supporting actor Oscar.

  • Cowboys coaching search: Front-runner emerges, interview schedule, more candidates

It’s been one week since the Dallas Cowboys and Mike McCarthy decided to part ways. The Cowboys are still in the process of conducting their head coaching search. One thing seems clear, this search is going to be more similar to the one they conducted before hiring Wade Phillips than before hiring McCarthy.

McCarthy was one of only two candidates interviewed following the 2019 season. Phillips was one of 10 interviewed following the 2006 season. Here’s what we know so far.

    Who has interviewed?

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh. Moore’s interview was done virtually on Friday. Saleh’s took place in-person on Saturday. The ties between Moore and the Cowboys are obvious. Saleh didn’t have much head coaching success with the New York Jets, but he’s regarded as an elite defensive coach.

Cowboys coach survey: Did Dallas make right decision? Deion, Ben Johnson top choices?

    Who is scheduled to interview?

Former Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier is scheduled to meet with the Cowboys on Monday. This was a surprising name to surface only because Frazier hasn’t been mentioned with any of the other openings around the league. The Seattle Seahawks assistant head coach was the Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator from 2017 to 2022. He was head coach of the Minnesota Vikings from 2011 to 2013.

Who are some of the other candidates?

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. This isn’t a likely pairing. Most believe he will become one of the NFL’s highest-paid coaches, winding up with the Chicago Bears, Las Vegas Raiders or Jacksonville Jaguars. Although the Cowboys are the most valuable sports franchise, they don’t have a history of spending at the top of the market for coaches. But Johnson should still be interviewed now that the Lions’ season is over. He’s regarded as one of the top offensive minds in the game. The Cowboys had not yet moved on from McCarthy when Johnson was conducting virtual interviews during Detroit’s first-round playoff bye week.

Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. The former Pro Bowl cornerback played for the Cowboys during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Glenn has been on NFL coaching staffs since 2014. He’s been Detroit’s defensive coordinator for the last four seasons. The Lions’ defense turned in a poor performance in Detroit’s divisional-round loss to the Washington Commanders on Saturday night, but a significant factor was numerous key injuries on that side of the ball, which included Pro Bowl pass-rusher Aidan Hutchinson. Glenn is expected to get a head coaching job during this hiring cycle. It would not be a surprise to see the Cowboys interview him this week for the job.

Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. He’s done an excellent job coaching rookie QB Jayden Daniels. Washington’s unexpected run from 4-13 last season to NFC Championship Game this season has elevated Kingsbury’s stock. He has been considered a top offensive coach since his college coaching career, which consisted of stops at Houston and Texas A&M before becoming head coach at Texas Tech from 2013-2018. He was hired as the Arizona Cardinals head coach in 2019. In his four seasons, the Cardinals went 28-37 with one playoff appearance. If Jerry Jones feels like Kingsbury can get the best out of Dak Prescott, this hire could make sense. Prescott isn’t going anywhere and the Cowboys likely go as he goes over the next four seasons.

Kellen Moore jumps Deion Sanders as favorite for Cowboys head coach opening

Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady. With Josh Allen at quarterback, the Bills have had one of the NFL’s top offenses over the last five seasons. Brady was hired as Buffalo’s QB coach in 2022 and then became interim OC last year. He was the Carolina Panthers OC in 2020 and 2021 and LSU’s OC during its 2019 national championship season. It seems more likely that Jones would be in favor of Moore over Brady, but an interview would make sense.

Cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. Although he did not call plays the previous two seasons as Dallas’ OC, he could be a consideration if Jones is looking to keep offensive continuity. The son of Marty Schottenheimer has never been a head coach in the NFL but he has been offensive coordinator for the Jets (2006-2011), Rams (2012-2014) and Seahawks (2018-2020). This is an unlikely pick but can’t be completely ruled out.

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders. Jones reached out to Sanders the same day the announcement was made that they were looking for a new head coach. However, there has been no formal interview planned. This has been great for publicity as many have speculated about what it would be like to see Sanders paired with Jones. But so far, publicity is all it’s been.

How Cowboys can pitch their head coach opening — and what candidates should be wary of

    Who is the front-runner?

This can change quickly depending on who else gets an interview, but the front-runner right now is Moore. He was the first interview and Jones thinks highly of the former Cowboys QB, QB coach and offensive coordinator. It’s clear on social media that fans would prefer Johnson and Sanders over Moore. Jones did acknowledge before the season finale on Jan. 5 that he takes some fan opinion into account when making an evaluation on the team’s head coaching position.

“I use a lot of input from key people that are associated with the team, players,” Jones said on the 105.3 The Fan pregame show. “I use former coaches. I use input from really interested fans. I get it all.”

If Jones really wants Moore he might have to wait until after the Super Bowl. Philadelphia is the favorite to win next weekend’s NFC Championship Game. The longer the search goes, the more likely it would seem that Moore is the pick.

As the Dallas Cowboys continue their search for a new head coach, a front-runner has emerged in the coaching carousel. According to sources close to the team, former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy is currently the top candidate for the job.

McCarthy, who led the Packers to a Super Bowl victory in 2011, has been out of coaching since his firing in 2018. However, his track record of success and experience working with elite quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers make him an attractive option for the Cowboys.

In addition to McCarthy, the Cowboys have also scheduled interviews with several other potential candidates, including former Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis, Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, and Oklahoma Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley.

While McCarthy may be the front-runner at the moment, the Cowboys are keeping their options open and exploring all potential candidates before making a final decision. Stay tuned for updates as the coaching search continues to unfold.

  • Lions Coordinator ‘Still The Frontrunner’ For Jets Job, New Report Says

Have the New York Jets established a frontrunner among the candidates to become their next head coach?

Bleacher Report’s NFL insider James Palmer indicated this week that — among the several men the Jets have interviewed — a defense coordinator from the Detroit Lions has emerged as the favorite to land the position.

“It seems like Aaron Glenn’s kind of still the frontrunner,” Palmer said.

“What Aaron Glenn has done on both the personnel side, the coaching side … I think with the cultural changes that need to change (in New York) that are attached to him with … (having been) around somebody that builds a culture like Sean Payton (or) Dan Campbell … (that’s) important when you’re evaluating everything that needs to change with the Jets.”

Glenn, 52, worked under Payton as a defensive backs coach in the New Orleans Saints organization between 2016 and 2020. Since 2021, Glenn has operated as Detroit’s defensive coordinator under Campbell.

Before New Orleans, Glenn worked as the assistant defensive backs coach for the Cleveland Browns between 2014 and 2015, his first experience as an NFL coach.

Glenn’s connection to the Jets organization is strong. He was selected by New York with the No. 12 overall pick in the 1994 NFL draft and played his first eight NFL seasons with the Jets, accruing two Pro Bowl selections along the way (he’s a member of the Jets’ All-Time Four Decade Team).

Glenn also worked as a personnel scout for the Jets between 2012 and 2013.

While some reports have suggested that the Jets job is Glenn’s top choice, that hasn’t stopped him from interviewing with the Saints, Chicago Bears, Las Vegas Raiders, and Jacksonville Jaguars for their head coaching vacancies.

Notably, Glenn turned down an interview with the New England Patriots, and later cleared the air as to why, saying, “It just wasn’t the best situation for me.”

For now, Glenn has the Washington Commanders to think about. Glenn’s Lions host the Commanders for a divisional-round showdown on Saturday night.
