  • Lakers Injury Report: Jarred Vanderbilt, Gabe Vincent out vs. Sixers

If the Lakers are going to extend their winning streak to five games, they’ll have to do so without Jarred Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent, who have both been ruled out for Tuesday’s game versus the Sixers.

This is the second straight game Vincent has missed. Lakers head coach JJ Redick revealed before Monday’s matchup versus the Hornets that Vincent banged his knees during Saturday’s Warriors game, which has caused him to miss both back-to-back games during this road trip.

The injury is officially listed as left knee soreness.

For Vanderbilt, being ruled out seems to be about managing his recovery and not pushing himself too fast too soon. Vando is on a minutes restriction and has returned for two games and has been very good in both outings.

He made good defensive plays in each win and didn’t look like he was limited in any capacity, which is good news for the Lakers.

An abundance of caution is needed with the wing and it is logical and understandable to have him miss a game during a back-to-back while he continues to ramp up.

A positive for the Lakers on the injury front is that they will likely have Rui Hachimura back. The Lakers forward has missed two games with left calf soreness but has been upgraded to probable heading into Tuesday’s game.

The Sixers will also be short-handed on Tuesday. They will be without Paul George and Joel Embiid, as Embiid has practiced but is still unavailable. PG injured his pinky on Saturday in a win versus Chicago and is still out.

The Los Angeles Lakers will be without Jarred Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent for their upcoming game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Both players are dealing with injuries that will keep them sidelined for this matchup.

Vanderbilt, who has been dealing with a knee injury, will miss his second consecutive game. The athletic forward has been a key contributor off the bench for the Lakers this season, providing energy and hustle on both ends of the court.

Vincent, on the other hand, has been sidelined with an ankle injury. The guard has been a reliable shooter and ball-handler for the Lakers, and his absence will be felt on the offensive end.

Despite these injuries, the Lakers will look to rally together and put forth a strong effort against the Sixers. Stay tuned for updates on their status as they continue to recover and rehab their respective injuries.

  • Alexis Gabe case: D.A. concludes ex-boyfriend’s mom was not accessory in murder

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office on Thursday announced the mother of Alexis Gabe‘s ex-boyfriend did not act as an accessory to her murder after the fact.

The D.A.’s office said Alicia Coleman-Clark, the ex-boyfriend’s mom, was under investigation to determine if she was criminally liable for actions taken after Gabe’s murder.

The East Bay community of Oakley was gripped by the case when Gabe, a 24-year-old woman, went missing in January 2022.

Police theorize her ex-boyfriend, Marshall Jones, strangled her to death and then discarded and dismembered her.

Jones, who was 27 at the time, was killed by law enforcement in Washington State in June 2022 as they attempted to arrest him on a warrant. He was the prime suspect in Gabe’s murder. Jones had officially been charged in her death days before the attempted arrest. Officials said Jones charged at task force officers with a knife before officers opened fire, killing him.

The D.A.’s office said they, along with Oakley and Antioch police departments, met with Gabe’s family in December 2024 to pursue additional investigative leads. They said they examined forensic evidence, including recovered clothing.  They also re-interviewed the mother’s ex-boyfriend to clarify statements he had made to law enforcement.

In addition, they looked into Jones’ flight purchase records from when he fled to the Seattle area. They were looking into whether his mother facilitated the purchase. Law enforcement determined she was not involved.

“The District Attorney’s Office has concluded there is insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt the elements required to charge that Alicia Coleman-Clark acted as an accessory after the fact under Penal Code Section 32,” a statement from the D.A.’s office read.

Last spring, at a screening of a documentary about the murder case, Gabe’s family members questioned why Jones’ mother was not facing charges for aiding and abetting in Gabe’s murder. At the time, the D.A.’s office said there was no indication anyone other than Jones was responsible. Gabe’s family vowed they wouldn’t quit until Jones’ mother was in jail.

    That didn’t end up happening.

Accompanying Thursday’s announcement, D.A. Diana Becton offered her condolences to Gabe’s family for the “unimaginable loss of Alexis.” The D.A. offered the family her office’s continued support.

The District Attorney has officially concluded that the ex-boyfriend’s mother, who was initially suspected of being an accessory in the murder of Alexis Gabe, was not involved in the crime. This development comes after weeks of investigation and scrutiny surrounding the high-profile case.

The D.A. stated that there was insufficient evidence to support the theory that the ex-boyfriend’s mother played a role in the murder of Alexis Gabe. While the investigation is ongoing and no suspects have been ruled out, this latest development marks a significant turn in the case.

Many had speculated that the ex-boyfriend’s mother may have been involved in the murder due to her close relationship with the suspect. However, the D.A.’s conclusion suggests that she may have been unfairly targeted in the investigation.

As the case continues to unfold, authorities are urging anyone with information related to the murder of Alexis Gabe to come forward. The community remains on edge as they await more updates on this tragic and perplexing case. Stay tuned for more developments.

  • Gabe Vincent News: Records season-high 14 points

Vincent finished Wednesday’s 117-108 victory over the Heat with 14 points (6-9 FG, 2-5 3Pt), one rebound, four assists, one block and one steal in 26 minutes.

Despite being one of Los Angeles’ primary bench options in the backcourt and even making five starts this season, Vincent has scored double-digit points just four times in 2024-25. The 28-year-old guard is struggling mightily with his efficiency, as he is posting 38.6/32.3/50.0 shooting splits.

  • Gabe Vincent Never Loses Confidence In Jump Shot

Gabe Vincent’s first year with the Los Angeles Lakers was a difficult one as he was limited to just a handful of games due to knee injuries, never being able to find his rhythm.

After missing so much time, Vincent understandably started off this season slow as well. He has finally begun to come on in recent weeks though as in Vincent’s last 12 games, he is shooting 43.2% from 3-point range on 3.7 attempts.

With the team trading D’Angelo Russell, Vincent has needed to take on more of a scoring role and he has answered the bell. He had one of his best games against his former team on Wednesday night as the Lakers came back to beat the Miami Heat at home to snap a three-game losing streak.

Vincent finished with 14 points and four assists on 6-of-9 shooting off the bench and afterwards he discussed why his confidence in his jump shot never wavers.

“I think there’s a lot of noise around this game. I think there’s a lot of noise around this organization within this league. But I don’t think there’s anything I’ve done more in my life than shoot a basketball. So that’s gonna be the last thing I lose confidence on,” Vincent said.

“I’ve taken thousands and thousands of shots over the course of my career and I know I’m a good shooter. I know I’m capable of shooting the ball, I’ve made big shots in big games. I’ve missed shots too, that’s how the game goes. But the confidence itself never really wavers.”

The Lakers are still scouring the trade market to find another scoring and playmaking guard but if Vincent can play at this level consistently then there may not be as much of a need for that, allowing the front office to focus on other needs.

Gabe Vincent: Huge for Lakers to get back in win column

The Lakers went into their game against the Heat having lost three straight with two postponed games mixed in there. It had been a while since they felt the taste of a win, which added some significance according to Gabe Vincent.

“Huge. We had an extended amount of time off, it was like 12 days I think since we won a game and we only played like two games in that time. That’s like college where you have a game a week or two games a week. So very different for us, we’re used to playing every other day. That feeling of winning is everything. It’s kind of like a drug so to get that feeling back was great for our group,” Vincent said.
