Paolini of Italy opens her campaign at the 2025 Qatar Open against Caroline Garcia of France on Tuesday. Paolini is set to play her first match since crashing out in the third round of the 2025 Australian Open. The Italian, who played in two Grand Slam finals last year, joins the hostilities in Doha as one of the favorites to win the first WTA 1000 event of the year. Paolini has been drawn into section 3 of bracket, where big hitters Zheng Qinwen, Ons Jabeur and Jalena Ostapenko are also assigned. Garcia, meanwhile, arranged a date with Paolini after defeating Yuan Yue 6-1, 7-6 (5). The French banked on her serves to dictate the tempo of the match, collecting 32 points off her first serves and 18 points off the second while allowing her Chinese foe to break just once.

Caroline Garcia vs Jasmine Paolini Picks & Prediction

In an exciting match-up between two talented tennis players, Caroline Garcia will face off against Jasmine Paolini in an upcoming tournament. Garcia, a French player known for her powerful groundstrokes and aggressive style of play, will be looking to continue her strong form on the courts. Paolini, an Italian player with a crafty game and excellent court coverage, will be looking to cause an upset and advance in the tournament.

In terms of predictions, Garcia is the clear favorite in this match-up. With her experience on the tour and ability to dictate play with her powerful shots, she should be able to overpower Paolini and secure the win. However, Paolini should not be underestimated, as she has the ability to keep points alive and frustrate her opponents with her defensive skills.

Overall, I predict that Garcia will come out on top in this match, likely in straight sets. However, Paolini is a tough competitor and could push Garcia to her limits. It should be an exciting match to watch for tennis fans.

  • Mikey Garcia doesn’t want to see Gervonta Davis fight Shakur Stevenson

Former champion Mikey Garcia chats with Fight Hub TV about what he thinks of the matchup between Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and Lamont Roach on the horizon, and why he’s not excited about the prospect of Tank fighting Shakur Stevenson in the future. Check out some of what he had to say below.

Garcia on the Tank vs Roach fight

“I think Tank is one of the very best fighters, definitely in the lightweight division. I don’t think Roach would be a huge threat for Tank. Tank is very talented, very skilled, and also very experienced at this point now. He’s fought and seen pretty much every style there is and his power is tremendous where he has that knockout punching power and he has the confidence to do it.

“It’s hard to go against Tank. Again, not to disrespect his opponent Roach but I think Tank is a beast and he’s been proving it every fight and he probably will win this fight as well.”

On a prospective Tank vs Shakur Stevenson fight

“I’m actually not a very big fan of that fight…Now I do believe Shakur Stevenson is a great, great fighter as well. He’s got the skills, he’s got the talent, great boxer, super talented with footwork, with speed, reflexes, counter punching ability, he’s one of the very, very best. But I’m not a fan of that fight because Shakur Stevenson is the kind of fighter that he’s going to fight his fight regardless of what the critics, the fans, or anybody want to see…winning is winning for him.

“But as a fight fan that turns me off. Now as a fighter I applaud him, I understand and give him all the respect for the skills…but as a fight fan that turns me off. I much rather see Tank fight other guys, for example Lomachenko, that I know Lomachenko’s there to fight even though he also has great footwork and speed and reflexes — but he’s there to fight. I much rather see that fight than a Shakur Stevenson fight.

“Shakur Stevenson’s going to be a dull, not as exciting of a matchup and I think that’s why he’s going to have a tough time getting some of these big fights. Until he turns his style a bit and shows up a little more, maybe then he’ll get some of these fights but until then I don’t think Tank fights him or anybody that’s a serious threat. Shakur, again, great fighter as far as skills but not a great fighter for the fans.”

Mikey Garcia doesn’t want to see Gervonta Davis fight Shakur Stevenson

In a recent interview, former world champion Mikey Garcia expressed his disinterest in seeing a potential matchup between Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson. Garcia believes that the two fighters are in different weight classes and that they should focus on their respective divisions.

Garcia stated, “I don’t see the point of Davis and Stevenson fighting each other. They are in different weight classes and have different career trajectories. I think it would be better for them to focus on building their own legacies in their respective divisions.”

While both Davis and Stevenson are rising stars in the sport of boxing, Garcia’s opinion highlights the importance of fighters staying in their weight classes and pursuing the best matchups within those divisions. It remains to be seen if a fight between Davis and Stevenson will ever come to fruition, but for now, Garcia believes that it is not a necessary or desired matchup.

  • Emery on replacing Carlos, new signing Garcia and West Ham

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has been speaking to the media before Sunday’s Premier League game against West Ham at Villa Park (kick-off 16:30 GMT).

Here are the key lines from his news conference:

    • Emery was asked if he expects any more incomings or outgoings before the January transfer window closes: “We are open to try to improve the squad until the last moment and we are open as well in case someone is leaving. Of course, Diego Carlos left last week and we have to replace him. We are focusing with the sporting director and the club on which players could potentially replace Diego Carlos.”

    • On new signing Andres Garcia: “He is a right full-back, potential, young player. He was progressing so quickly, and I knew him before. I know how he was doing, as a person as well. We decided to sign him because we were thinking it was a good opportunity, just in this moment – a really good opportunity. He is progressing so quick in his career.”

    • Emery gave his thoughts on Villa’s ambitions: “Of course, for the history of Aston Villa, to try to be a contender, building the team, getting the structure stronger, trying to be contenders in the future for trophies as well, is another objective we have to add. To play in Europe was another objective.”

    • He continued: “We started two years ago, and we are in this process we planned, but the process is through the players, through the mentality as a team. We can be demanding, setting very ambitious objectives. We have a lot of players with a very good mentality – and a lot of players, they have improved a lot in having the right mentality we want, but there’s still work to do.”

    • On facing West Ham: “Very important, those three points on Sunday against West Ham. Very difficult, because all matches in the Premier League are very difficult. Of course, West Ham, they are not being consistent, but they have a new coach now. Tactically, they are going to improve, playing matches, and they have very good players as well. Maybe they have some important players injured but, for us, Sunday is very important.”

  • Ryan Garcia draws ‘Rolly’ Romero for May return fight; Devin Haney vs. Jose Ramirez on undercard

Ryan Garcia is sending Devin Haney to the undercard before their highly anticipated October rematch.

Garcia takes on Rolando “Rolly” Romero in the main event of a May show under Turki Alalshikh’s Ring Magazine banner, while Haney faces Jose Ramirez in the co-feature, Alalshikh announced Monday night.

It will be the first Ring Magazine card in the U.S. following Alalshikh’s purchase of the company. Although a venue or exact date has yet to confirmed, New York’s Times Square is currently believed to be the targeted destination for the show.

Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) and Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) haven’t fought since their April 2024 bout, which means both will end year-long layoffs when they take part in their respective May fights.

Garcia dropped Haney three times en route to a majority decision win, but the match was later declared a no contest after Garcia tested positive for the banned substance ostarine in a pre-fight drug test conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association. Garcia is currently serving a one-year ban that expires on April 20.

While their first match was fought at super lightweight — Garcia was 3.25 pounds overweight — both Garcia and Haney will be moving up to welterweight for their May returns and subsequent October rematch in Riyadh.

Romero (16-2, 13 KOs) lost his WBA super lightweight title to Isaac Cruz in March 2024 but rebounded with a 10-round decision win over Manuel Jaimes in September. Before that, Romero was ahead on one scorecard before he was stopped by Gervonta “Tank” Davis in the sixth round in a May 2022 bout.

Ramirez (29-2, 18 KOs), a former unified super lightweight champion, enters the fight on the back of a competitive decision loss to Arnold Barboza Jr. on November’s Gilberto Ramirez vs. Chris Billam-Smith undercard in Riyadh.

Alalshikh stated on social media he wants to match IBF welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis and WBO super lightweight titleholder Teofimo Lopez on the Garcia vs. Haney 2 undercard, with the winners and losers of the respective bouts then facing each other in February 2026.

An IBF final eliminator at heavyweight between Martin Bakole (21-1, 16 KOs) and Efe Ajagba (20-1, 14 KOs) is also confirmed for the May show, with the winner set to land a shot at the victor of the Daniel Dubois vs. Joseph Parker IBF title fight on Feb. 22.

In an exciting announcement, rising boxing star Ryan Garcia has confirmed that he will be facing off against ‘Rolly’ Romero in his much-anticipated return fight in May. The bout is expected to be a thrilling showdown between two talented fighters, with both Garcia and Romero known for their explosive fighting styles.

But that’s not all – the undercard for the event will feature another highly anticipated match-up between Devin Haney and Jose Ramirez. Haney, the current WBC lightweight champion, will be looking to defend his title against Ramirez, a tough and skilled opponent who promises to give him a run for his money.

With two exciting fights on the card, this event is shaping up to be a must-watch for boxing fans everywhere. Stay tuned for more details on the date and location of this epic night of boxing action!

  • Ryan Garcia vs Rolando Romero headlines May Ring Magazine show

Turki Alalshikh announced today that Ring Magazine’s first USA show will see Ryan Garcia battle Rolando Romero atop a tripleheader this coming May.

Other details, such as the date, location, and presumably the broadcast partner, “will be announced later.”

Garcia (24-1, 20 KO), out of action since his overturned decision over Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KO) this past April, was expected to meet former super lightweight champion Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz before running things back with Haney in September. He instead fights Cruz’s last victim in Romero (16-2, 13 KO), who bounced back from March’s stoppage loss to Cruz by cruising past future Abdullah Mason victim Manuel Jaimes in September.

Though there were rumblings that the Cruz fight would take place at 144 instead of the full welterweight limit, Alalshikh doesn’t mention if that’s the case here.

Haney, for his part, will follow the original plan and take on Jose Ramirez (29-2, 18 KO). Ramirez looked very limited in last November’s loss to Arnold Barboza Jr, showing severe vulnerabilities to some of Haney’s best weapons, but it’s not like “The Dream” was in peak form against Garcia.

Rounding out the card is an IBF heavyweight eliminator pitting Martin Bakole (21-1, 16 KO) against Efe Ajagba (20-1, 14 KO). This should be fun while it lasts; Ajagba isn’t the world-beater Top Rank hoped for, but he’s a big boy with a real punch and Bakole could charitably be described as defense-agnostic.

In an exciting matchup set to headline the May issue of Ring Magazine, rising star Ryan Garcia will go toe-to-toe with Rolando Romero in a highly anticipated showdown.

Garcia, known for his lightning-fast hands and impressive knockout power, will look to add another victory to his undefeated record and solidify his status as one of the top contenders in the lightweight division. Meanwhile, Romero, a hard-hitting fighter with a perfect record of his own, will be looking to make a statement and prove that he belongs among the elite in the sport.

With both fighters hungry for success and determined to come out on top, fans can expect a thrilling and action-packed bout that is sure to keep them on the edge of their seats. Don’t miss this can’t-miss matchup as Garcia and Romero battle it out for supremacy in the ring.

  • Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney to share card before planned rematch

Boxing star Ryan Garcia will fight Rolly Romero in his return from suspension while Devin Haney will meet Jose Ramirez, Turki Alalshikh announced Monday.

Alalshikh, who is the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority and who purchased boxing publication The Ring from Oscar De La Hoya in November, posted on social media that the card will be branded as a Ring Magazine event and held in the U.S. in May. Heavyweight contender Martin Bakole will fight Efe Ajagba in an IBF heavyweight title eliminator in a third fight.

If Garcia and Haney both win, the plan is for the pair to meet in a highly anticipated rematch in October in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) is eligible for reinstatement in April. He was suspended for one year by the New York State Athletic Commission after he tested positive for the performance-enhancing drug ostarine after a majority decision victory over Haney this past April.

Garcia floored Haney three times in the bout to score the major upset, but the result was later overturned to a no-contest because of the doping violation. Garcia, 26, also was fined upward of $1.2 million.

Garcia also was 3.2 pounds overweight for that 140-pound title fight. Garcia and Haney will both campaign at the 147-pound welterweight limit in May ahead of their planned rematch at the same weight.

Last week, Haney and Garcia jointly asked a court to pause proceedings surrounding Haney’s lawsuit against Garcia for 90 days because of a tentative settlement.

Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) filed a lawsuit against Garcia in September in U.S. District Court in New York, seeking damages for battery, fraud and breach of contract in connection with Garcia’s doping violation.

Haney, 26, was seeking unspecified damages and alleged Garcia committed battery because “his contest was limited to a bout held fairly and under the rules.”

Neither Haney nor Garcia has competed since their April fight. They will both return as prohibitive favorites in fights against former champions.

Romero (16-2, 13 KOs) last fought in September and earned a stay-busy decision win over Manuel Jaimes. That was Romero’s first bout since he was TKO’d by Isaac Cruz in a March title defense.

Romero’s previous defeat was also via TKO, a lightweight fight with Gervonta Davis in 2022. The 26-year-old will move up to a third weight class for this fight with Garcia.

Ramirez (29-2, 18 KOs) is a former unified 140-pound champion who will move up to welterweight. The 32-year-old is coming off a decision loss to Arnold Barboza Jr. in November.

Haney is the former undisputed lightweight champion. His career-best victory came in 2023 when he outpointed future Hall of Famer Vasiliy Lomachenko. Haney later won a title at 140 pounds, too.

Garcia’s lone defeat was a TKO to Davis in 2023.

Bakole (21-1, 16 KOs) is coming off the biggest win of his career, a fifth-round KO of Jared Anderson in August. The 33-year-old is ESPN’s No. 7 heavyweight. With an expected victory over Ajagba, Bakole will be the mandatory challenger to the winner of the Feb. 22 title fight between Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker.

Ajagba (20-1, 14 KOs) is coming off a split-decision win over Guido Vianello in April.

Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney are set to face off in a highly anticipated rematch, and fans are eagerly awaiting the showdown.

The two fighters previously met in a thrilling bout that ended in a controversial decision, leaving both fighters hungry for redemption. Now, they will have the chance to settle the score once and for all in a highly anticipated rematch.

In addition to the main event, the card will feature a stacked lineup of undercard fights, showcasing some of the top talent in the sport. Fans can expect an action-packed night of boxing that is sure to deliver plenty of excitement.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney rematch card, and mark your calendars for what is sure to be an unforgettable night of boxing.

  • Gervonta Davis And Ryan Garcia Both Want Rematch But Can’t Agree On One Term: “Stop The Talk”

Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia remain rivals despite their blockbuster fight a couple of years ago.

It was one of the most anticipated fights of the year when Davis and Garcia squared off at the Barclays Center in New York in April 2023.

‘Tank’ took full control of the bout in just the second round when he dropped Garcia, before then earning another knockdown in the seventh after a big body shot, with ‘King Ry’ unable to recover and beat the count, handing Davis the victory.

While several years may have passed since their first meeting, both men appear keen to step back into the ring once again, although there are differing terms for how they want it to play out.

It began when Garcia laid out on social media that he would want the fight to be at a catchweight between super-lightweight and welterweight, after their first fight was held at a 136lb catchweight and ‘King Ry’ felt he was weight drained in the bout.

“Everyone wanna talk about the little stupid Tank. Let’s fight. Enough of that funny talk. Come see me at 144 and let’s stop the talk.

Davis has since responded whilst speaking to ESNews, insisting that the fight would have to take place at the official super-lightweight weight class of 140lbs.

“Yeah [it’s a massive fight]. But not at 143 [or 144], why 143? Probably at 140, that’s the next weight class up from 135, it’s the weight class he fights at. Let’s do 140 and he can rehydrate back up to 150, or the most 152, I’m 135 brother.”

If a Garcia rematch can’t be made, another potential option for Davis is a showdown against Shakur Stevenson, and ‘Tank’ has discussed the prospect of the fight happening.

Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia have been trading shots on social media, calling for a rematch after their explosive first fight ended in a controversial draw. However, it seems that the two fighters can’t agree on one crucial term for the rematch: “Stop The Talk.”

Both Davis and Garcia have been known for their trash-talking and bravado leading up to fights, but it appears that this time, their egos are getting in the way of a potential rematch. Davis insists that Garcia needs to stop the talk and show some respect, while Garcia believes that Davis should do the same.

Fans are eagerly waiting for a resolution to this standoff, as a rematch between these two young stars would undoubtedly be a must-see event. Will they be able to put aside their differences and come to an agreement, or will their feud continue to escalate? Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

  • Oscar De La Hoya Makes His Feelings On Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney Rematch Clear

Oscar De La Hoya Makes His Feelings On Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney Rematch Clear

Ryan Garcia‘s fight with Devin Haney was one of the most controversial bouts of 2024.

The early part of the year was dominated by building up to the fight between the super-lightweight champion Haney and fellow American Garcia.

‘King Ryan’ acted erratically throughout, making all sorts of wild claims, smoking and drinking during camp, and then ultimately missing weight which meant he was ineligible to claim the world title.

He went on to win the fight after knocking Haney down multiple times, but then it was revealed he twice tested positive for a banned substance which meant he was given a one-year ban, despite protesting his innocence. The fight was ruled a no contest.

Speaking to FightHub TV, Garcia’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya was asked if he planned on making a rematch between the two and didn’t seem keen.

“The way Ryan Garcia handled Devin Haney to me personally doesn’t call for a rematch.”

He then outlined the bold plans for ‘King Ry’.

“Once Ryan gets back in action and gets back in rhythm and has a tune-up fight possibly in late April or early May, then I want to throw him right in there with the very best – Teo Lopez or ‘Boots’ Ennis or whoever the very best is.”

He did however hint that a rematch with Haney will always be a big draw.

“We still have Devin Haney who is wanting that rematch against Ryan Garcia.”

IBF champion Jaron Ennis is undefeated in 33 with 29 KO wins so would be a stiff challenge for Garcia, while another option is a rematch with current belt holder Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis who beat Garcia by KO in April 2023 to defend his world title.

Oscar De La Hoya, the boxing legend and promoter of Ryan Garcia, recently made his feelings on a potential rematch between Garcia and Devin Haney clear. In a statement released to the press, De La Hoya expressed his excitement at the prospect of the two young fighters facing off once again.

De La Hoya praised both Garcia and Haney for their skills and determination in the ring, calling them two of the best young talents in boxing today. He highlighted the thrilling nature of their first fight, which ended in a controversial split decision in favor of Haney.

The promoter emphasized his belief that Garcia has what it takes to defeat Haney in a rematch, citing his speed, power, and boxing IQ as key factors in his favor. De La Hoya also hinted at the potential for the fight to take place in a major venue with a large audience, further adding to the excitement surrounding the matchup.

Overall, De La Hoya’s comments make it clear that he is fully on board with the idea of Garcia and Haney stepping into the ring once again. Boxing fans can look forward to a highly anticipated rematch between two of the sport’s brightest young stars, with De La Hoya fully supporting his fighter to come out victorious.
