  • Gautam Gambhir Gets Blunt Warning After Fresh Injury Blow To India: “Body Wasn’t Ready…”

India all-rounder Nitesh Kumar Reddy will take no part in the remaining games of the T20I series against England after he was ruled out hours ahead of the second match in Chennai, owing to an injury. Reddy played in the series-opener in Kolkata earlier this week, but he did not get the chance to bowl or bat in the match. For the unversed, Reddy was also part of India’s squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, playing all five Tests as the visitors lost the series 1-2.

Former India batter Aakash Chopra opened up on Reddy’s workload, saying that his body might not have been ready for the rigors of international cricket.

Nitish Kumar Reddy is injured. He has been ruled out of the entire series. You must be thinking, ‘What would’ve happened?’ I am wondering how this would have happened. When you start playing international cricket, the workload is different,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

Chopra also highlighted that Reddy played all five Tests against Australia. Hence, he possibly got injured due to the same.

“Workload and pressure go hand in hand. He played 5 Tests in Australia. He performed there. He was on the ground consistently. He batted and even bowled a little. It takes a toll. Believe it or not, he is a young kid. The body sometimes doesn’t last that long,” he added.

“Suddenly, you realise there is an injury. I think something has happened. Maybe the body wasn’t ready for this type of workload and pressure, and he broke down. Shivam Dube has been called into the squad in place of Nitish Kumar Reddy,” Chopra explained.

India lead England 2-0 in the series and could wrap up the rubber in Rajkot when they take the field for the 3rd T20I on Tuesday.

Gautam Gambhir Gets Blunt Warning After Fresh Injury Blow To India: “Body Wasn’t Ready…”

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has been dealt another injury blow, raising concerns about his fitness and readiness for competitive cricket. The left-handed batsman recently suffered a fresh injury setback, further complicating his comeback plans.

In response to Gambhir’s latest injury, experts have issued a blunt warning, stating that his body may not be ready for the rigors of professional cricket. The 40-year-old has been struggling with various fitness issues in recent years, and this latest setback has raised questions about his ability to make a successful return to the sport.

Gambhir, who has been vocal about his desire to play competitive cricket again, will need to address his fitness concerns if he hopes to revive his playing career. The road ahead may be challenging, but with the right approach and dedication, Gambhir could potentially overcome these obstacles and make a strong comeback.

As fans and experts alike wait to see how Gambhir will respond to this latest setback, one thing is clear: his body will need to be in top condition if he hopes to compete at the highest level once again. Only time will tell if the former cricketer can rise to the challenge and prove his critics wrong.

  • Ryan Ten Doeschate Issues Big Injury Update On Rinku Singh, Defends Gautam Gambhir’s Tactics

    Last Updated:

Ryan ten Doeschate has given a big update on Rinku Singh’s fitness, while also defending his head coach, Gautam Gambhir’s eight-batter tactic.

Rinku Singh was ruled out of the last two games due to a back strain.

Rinku Singh was ruled out of the last two games due to a back strain.

Indian men’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate confirmed on Thursday that Rinku Singh will be ‘proper fit’ to play the fourth T20I between India and England in Pune after recovering from back spasms.

The lower-order aggressive batter played the first match in Kolkata but was ruled out of the next two games after picking up the injury before the second. According to news agency PTI, Rinku batted extensively in the nets on the eve of the match, trying audacious laps and sweeps against spinners, looking comfortable against pacers, and also taking throwdowns from specialist Raghavendra and assistant coach Abhishek Nayar.

“Rinku is fit. He played the first game, hurt himself and missed the next two. But I would imagine Rinku comes back in as soon as he’s proper fit. He batted the other night and I think he’ll be ready to go tomorrow,” ten Doeschate said during the pre-match press conference.

The last two T20Is could bring much-needed game time for Rinku who, after a quick start to his international career, hasn’t had clear opportunities to do anything of note in the last few months.

‘Big part of how Gautam Gambhir likes to set-up’: ten Doeschate on India’s batting-heavy lineups

If Rinku comes back, he’ll likely take the place of wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel. Jurel has scores of 4 and 2 in the two T20Is as the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star’s replacement. However, his second return have been hardly his fault for, despite being more of a top-to-middle-order player, he came to bat at number eight.

It was apparently done to maintain the left-hand-right-hand combination in the middle but led to criticism for Jurel’s inclusion. Many experts felt India could have used his spot for extra bowling cushion. However, if ten Doeschate’s comments are anything to go by, the tactic is here to stay, for now.

“You could argue that we don’t want Dhruv Jurel batting at number 8. But I also think if you look at the blueprint of any of Gambhir’s teams that he has coached since he’s been coaching T20 cricket, it is a big part of how he likes to set up,” ten Doeschate said.

“Particularly the other night, like I said, with Dhruv coming in at 8, I don’t think we got to see the best of him. But we do believe that it’s a big part of strategy in these games. Again, going back to my point, we want to give guys a long enough opportunity to show how good they are because we believe in the medium to long term, guys will show how good they are.”

India lost the third T20I but are ahead by 2-1 in the series.

News cricket Ryan Ten Doeschate Issues Big Injury Update On Rinku Singh, Defends Gautam Gambhir’s Tactics

Ryan Ten Doeschate, the coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders, has issued a big injury update on Rinku Singh. The young batsman suffered a hamstring injury during a training session and will be sidelined for the next few weeks.

In a recent press conference, Ten Doeschate also defended Gautam Gambhir’s tactics during the team’s recent matches. The former KKR captain has come under scrutiny for his decision-making on the field, but Ten Doeschate believes that Gambhir is doing the best he can with the resources available to him.

“We have full faith in Gautam and his leadership skills,” said Ten Doeschate. “He is a seasoned campaigner and knows how to handle pressure situations. We are confident that he will lead the team to success in the upcoming matches.”

Despite the setback with Rinku Singh’s injury, the Kolkata Knight Riders are determined to bounce back and put on a strong performance in the remainder of the tournament. With Ten Doeschate and Gambhir at the helm, the team is looking to turn their fortunes around and make a strong push for the playoffs.

  • Gautam Gambhir Rejected Request To Keep Rohit Sharma In Playing XI For 5th Australia Test: Report

Gautam Gambhir Rejected Request To Keep Rohit Sharma In Playing XI For 5th Australia Test: Report

Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma is all set to be rested for the fifth Test encounter against Australia starting Thursday in Sydney, according to sources. It has been a torrid run for Rohit in the ongoing five-match series as the star batter has managed to score just 31 runs in the past three matches. Despite multiple changes to his batting position, Rohit was unable to score big for his side and he is likely to be replaced by Shubman Gill in the playing XI for the Sydney Test. According to a report by PTI, Gambhir received a request from an ‘ influential cricket administrator’ to keep Rohit in the playing XI but it was rejected as the game holds significance for India’s World Test Championship (WTC) Final hopes.

“It is learnt that an influential cricket administrator, who commands a lot of respect in the BCCI, has had a word with the head coach to explore if the skipper can be allowed to play the Sydney game and bow out from the Test arena. However, the head coach’s priority is to ensure India wins in Sydney and remains in hunt for a place in the WTC final. Such is the state of affairs that Rohit was more comfortable speaking to his deputy Bumrah and chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar than Gambhir,” the PTI report claimed.

Rohit, just like Melbourne, was last among recognised batters to enter the nets but this was after head coach Gautam Gambhir refused to confirm whether the out-of-form skipper will be at the toss on Friday morning.

“We will take a call on the playing XI after looking at the pitch,” Gambhir gave a cryptic reply to a straight query on whether Rohit will play.

If it happens, Rohit will become the first Indian captain to be dropped on account of poor form and he would have none to blame except for the abysmal return of 31 runs from five innings.

Should this happen, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who has been the team’s top performer with an astonishing 30 wickets in four outings at a sub-20 average, will take over the leadership role. It was under Bumrah’s captaincy that India won its only Test on the tour so far — the lung-opener in Perth.

Where would that leave Rohit? MS Dhoni and Anil Kumble walked into Test retirements mid-series as their bodies could no longer take the rigours of the longest format.

However, in Rohit’s case, he will be dropped on the basis of form after Gambhir made it clear that performance is the only thing that would keep a player in the dressing room helmed by him. If he doesn’t come out for toss on Friday, it would be safe to conclude that Rohit, the Test batter, played his last knock at the MCG earlier this week where he looked completely out of place on a good track.

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has reportedly rejected a request to include Rohit Sharma in the playing XI for the 5th Test against Australia. According to reports, there was a suggestion to keep Rohit Sharma in the team despite his poor performance in the previous matches, but Gambhir was against it.

Gambhir, known for his no-nonsense attitude and straight talk, believes in picking players based on their current form and performance rather than reputation. He was adamant that Rohit Sharma should be dropped from the team if he is not performing up to the mark.

The decision to exclude Rohit Sharma from the playing XI for the 5th Test comes as a bold move by the selectors and team management. It shows that they are not afraid to make tough decisions for the betterment of the team.

Fans have mixed reactions to this news, with some supporting Gambhir’s decision while others questioning the exclusion of a player like Rohit Sharma. It will be interesting to see how this decision plays out in the upcoming Test match and whether it proves to be the right call in the end.

Rohit Sharma tells Ajit Agarkar, Gautam Gambhir he’s ‘opting out’ of 5th Test vs Australia; Shubman Gill back at No. 3

India is all set to be captained by Jasprit Bumrah in the fifth and final Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground starting Friday after skipper Rohit Sharma decided to give himself a rest. According to a report in The Indian Express, Rohit, 37, has spoken to head coach Gautam Gambhir and the chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar, informing them about his decision to ‘opt out’, which was met with a cordial response.

Rohit Sharma could well have played his last Test match(AFP)

A day after the news of unrest in the Indian dressing room emerged, Rohit briefly appeared during India’s practice session on the eve of the final match of the 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Shortly after, Gambhir dismissed those reports during the pre-match press conference but kept mum on whether Rohit would play tomorrow. “Everything is fine with Rohit and I don’t think it’s anything traditional. The head coach is here and that should be good enough. We are going to have a look at the wicket and finalise it tomorrow,” he said.

The reaction all but confirmed Rohit’s absence from the series decider, a belief that was strengthened even more as the day progressed. Gambhir, Rohit, and Bumrah were seen having a long chat during the nets, and while all batters had a long and extended session, Rohit’s batting was curtailed. He batted in India’s sweatshirt, which qualifies as nothing more than a warm-up drill.

At this stage, the man walking out for the toss tomorrow at 4.30 AM India time will likely be Bumrah, who led India to a dominating 295-run win in Perth in November. And rightly so. With the series on the line – India need to win the SCG Test to level the series and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy – no one better than Bumrah to get their hopes and campaign back on track. If Rohit indeed doesn’t turn up on Friday, the MCG Test could be his last as he is unlikely to continue in Tests in the fresh World Test Championship.

India need to win Sydney Test

Rohit’s ‘rest’ also paves the way for the return of Shubman Gill at No. 3. The India youngster, who, with scores of 28 and 31 in Adelaide, didn’t do much wrong to get dropped, unfortunately, had to be left out due to ‘combination’. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, who put on a record 201-run partnership at the Optus Stadium in the series opener, will open the innings.

Despite starting last year off on a high – drawing the Test series in South Africa and beating England 4-1, scoring two centuries, the second half of 2024 has been woeful for Rohit. His own form has dropped to an all-time low, with the skipper averaging 24.56 in Tests. He failed with the bat miserably, scoring 91 runs in three Tests against New Zealand as India suffered their first series defeat on home soil after 12 years.

To make matters worse, Rohit’s returns in Australia – 31 runs from 3 Tests, with scores of 3, 6, 10, 3 and 9 are the worst by a visiting batter Down Under. Rested or dropped, Rohit’s decision could be categorised as a first in the history of Indian cricket, as no captain has ever taken a backward step with so much on the line. India have had captains in the past – and pretty good ones – struggling for form, such as Sourav Ganguly, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli – but never has the leader pulled out, especially when a series against Australia.

If this indeed is it for Rohit, he would end his Test career with India, having scored 4301 runs from 67 matches at an average of 40.57 with 12 centuries. Since taking over as captain of India’s Test team when Virat Kohli stepped down in January of 2022, Rohit has led India to high-profile series wins against Australia and England at home. Under him, India reached the final of the 2nd World Test Championship final, where they finished runner-up.

In a surprising turn of events, Rohit Sharma has informed former cricketers Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir that he will be “opting out” of the upcoming 5th Test against Australia. The decision comes as a shock to many fans and experts, as Rohit has been in fine form throughout the series.

Replacing Rohit at the top of the order will be young talent Shubman Gill, who will be making his return to the No. 3 position. Gill has shown great promise in his limited opportunities so far, and fans will be eager to see how he performs in this crucial match.

It remains to be seen what prompted Rohit’s decision to opt out of the Test, but it is clear that the Indian team will have to make some adjustments in his absence. With the series finely poised at 1-1, this final Test will be crucial for both teams, and India will be hoping that Gill can step up and fill the void left by Rohit’s absence.

Billionaire Gautam Adani To Raise $2 Billion From Sale Of Adani Wilmar Stake

Indian billionaire Gautam Adani’s Adani Enterprises Ltd. (AEL) is selling its entire 44% stake in Mumbai-listed Adani Wilmar in a $2 billion multi-phased deal with partner Wilmar International, the Singapore-based palm oil giant backed by Malaysian tycoon Robert Kuok.

Under the deal, AEL said it will sell an initial 13% stake in Adani Wilmar to comply with the minimum public float required by Indian regulators and sell the remaining 31% stake in the cooking oil maker to Singapore-listed Wilmar International.

Adani Enterprises, Gautam Adani’s flagship company, is exiting from the joint venture with Wilmar to focus on its core infrastructure businesses and use the proceeds from the deal to expand its renewable energy, transport and logistics ventures.

“AEL will continue to invest in infrastructure sectors which will further strengthen AEL’s position as India’s largest listed incubator of platforms playing the key macro themes underpinning India’s growth story,” the company said in statement on Monday. Adani Enterprises added that its board representatives will resign from Adani WIlmar, whose corporate name will eventually be changed.

With a market capitalization of about $5 billion, the partners have jointly built the largest consumer foods manufacturer in India, with presence across edible oils, oleochemicals as well as food staples such as rice, sugar and wheat. Adani Wilmar has 100% urban coverage and presence in over 30,600 rural towns in the subcontinent and exports to over 30 countries globally.

Adani Wilmar, which made its market debut in India in 2022, is among the more than 10 joint venture companies owned and managed by Wilmar International, the palm oil giant established by Robert Kuok and his nephew Kuok Khoon Hong in 1991, around the world. With a real-time net worth of $11.5 billion, Kuok owns a valuable stake in the commodities company, along with his interests in the Shangri-La Hotel chain, real estate, shipping and logistics. Khoon Hong, who is chairman of Wilmar International, has a net worth of $3.8 billion.

Billionaire Gautam Adani, the founder and chairman of the Adani Group, is set to raise $2 billion from the sale of his stake in Adani Wilmar, a joint venture between the Adani Group and Singapore-based Wilmar International.

The move comes as Adani looks to raise funds to fuel the group’s expansion plans and reduce debt. Adani Wilmar is one of India’s leading edible oil manufacturers, with popular brands like Fortune and King’s.

The stake sale is expected to attract interest from both domestic and international investors, as Adani Wilmar has a strong presence in the fast-growing Indian consumer goods market.

Adani has been on a fundraising spree in recent months, with the group raising over $1.5 billion through various means, including stake sales and debt issuance.

The sale of the Adani Wilmar stake is expected to further strengthen Adani’s financial position and provide the necessary capital for the group’s ambitious growth plans in sectors like renewable energy, infrastructure, and logistics.

Overall, the move is seen as a strategic decision by Adani to streamline the group’s operations and focus on key growth areas, while also addressing its debt obligations.
