“The 2025 playing of The Genesis Invitational will include a number of Los Angeles-related relief initiatives with those details to be forthcoming,” tournament officials said in a statement. “Torrey Pines Golf Course also is the host facility for the Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open being played this week. Torrey Pines has been the home to the PGA Tour’s San Diego event since 1968 and has also been the venue for two U.S. Opens in 2008 and 2021.”

After announcing Riviera Country Club would not host the 2025 Genesis Invitational, the PGA Tour has found a new home. And it’s a very familiar one.
Torrey Pines Golf Course, in San Diego (where the Tour is hosting a separate event this very week), will become the one-time host of the Genesis next month. The Tour announced the move — which had been reported earlier this week — during the third round of the Farmers Insurance Open.
The Genesis has been played in the greater Los Angeles area for nearly the last 100 years, but recent wildfires that have ravaged LA County forced the tournament to be relocated for its scheduled week, Feb. 10-16.
As much as it may feel repetitive to run the Tour back at the same golf course just two weeks later, there will be some obvious differences between this week and the Genesis week. Chief among them: Tiger Woods will be involved. The tournament host hasn’t played Torrey Pines since 2020, where he finished T9 in what amounts to his last tournament in contention on the Tour.
Woods has a storied history at the course, including his iconic 2008 U.S. Open victory against Rocco Mediate. Woods also won the Farmers Insurance Open seven times, including four in a row in the mid-2000s. It remains to be seen if he will actually tee it up at the Torrey Pines Genesis event, but considering he tried playing the Genesis last year while battling the flu, it stands to reason he will give it a go.
Notably, the event will also be played exclusively at the South Course. This week’s Farmers Insurance Open is played on the North and South Courses at Torrey, tending to a much larger field (156) than the Genesis (80-ish). As you can see in the scoring averages, the South Course typically plays roughly three strokes harder than the North Course — in relation to par — so the Genesis will feature four days of that test rather than just three.
It will also feature a much stronger field. The Genesis Invitational is a Signature Event, which means it will feature a $20 million purse and a field including the top 50 players from 2024. That means we can expect Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa and many of the best players in the world to play at Torrey Pines, something that isn’t the case this week. Morikawa was among a lengthy list of pros who withdrew from the event this week.
The Tour announcement promised there will be multiple “Los Angeles-related relief initiatives” that week to benefit those impacted by the wildfires. The Genesis plans to return to Riviera Country Club in 2026.

The PGA Tour is moving the Genesis Invitational to the South Course at Torrey Pines in San Diego on Feb. 10-16, the tour announced Friday.
The Genesis Invitational, which is hosted by 15-time major champion Tiger Woods, was scheduled to be played at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California. The tour announced last week that the event would be moved because of the recent wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
Torrey Pines Golf Course is the site of this week’s Farmers Insurance Open, which is being played on the North and South courses, so much of the infrastructure needed for the Genesis Invitational is already in place.
In a news release, the PGA Tour said it plans for the Genesis Invitational to return to Riviera Country Club in 2026.
“As we’ve seen the last two weeks, sports can be a great diversion but an even greater unifier in bringing people together for a common cause,” PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said in a statement. “Highlighting the resilience of Los Angeles and the need for continued support for the ongoing recovery efforts is what our collective teams are working towards with the playing of The Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines.”
The Genesis Invitational benefits Woods’ TGR Foundation. He won eight times on the South Course, including the 2008 U.S. Open.
Woods underwent microdecompression surgery on his lower back in September, and it isn’t known whether he will compete in the Genesis Invitational. Last year, Woods withdrew in the second round of the tournament because of illness and was treated with an IV bag at Riviera.
“We are grateful to the city of San Diego and Torrey Pines for hosting the 2025 Genesis Invitational, and to everyone who has reached out in support of the tournament,” Woods said in a statement. “While Riviera remains the home of The Genesis Invitational, we look forward to playing on another championship caliber golf course this year and using the tournament to support those affected by the fires in the Los Angeles area.”

Joe Hendry finally won the TNA World Championship at TNA Genesis.
Hendry challenged for the gold in a six-man match at TNA Slammiversary, but Nic Nemeth won the bout. He then challenged Nemeth for the gold at TNA Bound For Glory, but John Layfield (JBL) interfered and cost him the match.
In the main event of TNA Genesis, Joe Hendry again challenged Nic Nemeth for the title. This time, Frankie Kazarian tried to get involved, and John Layfield took him out with a Clothesline from Hell. Layfield also dropped Ryan Nemeth. Hendry went on to hit Nemeth with the Standing Ovation. In doing so, he won the TNA World Championship for the first time and ended Nemeth’s reign at 183 days.

Third time was indeed the charm for Hendry, finally putting his world title losses at Slammiversary and Bound For Glory 20254 behind him to become the third Brit to reign as TNA World Champion, and the 36th wrestler overall to hold the gold.
The two went back and forth, with Nemeth’s brother Ryan watching from the front row despite earlier being barred by Santino Marella. After a top rope Fallaway Slam by Hendry, Call Your Shot Gauntlet winner Frankie Kazarian arrived to insert himself into the match, only for John Layfield to arrive to flatten Kazarian and punch out Ryan Nemeth before making his way back through the crowd.
Hendry hit the Standing Ovation for two, Nemeth hit a superkick and Danger Zone for two. But as Nemeth went for another superkick Hendry hit a fallaway slam and a second Standing Ovation to get the three and the TNA World Championship before celebrating with his family and the TNA fans in the stands.
For Nemeth he sees his first reign with the strap end after 183 days, with ‘The Wanted Man’ having won the title at Slammiversary in a six-man elimination match.
