Paul George vs. Andrew Wiggins is Warriors matchup to watch vs. 76ers – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

Deeply disappointed after missing the playoffs last spring, the Warriors ventured into summer vowing to make substantial roster upgrades. At the top of their wish list was six-time All-Star Paul George, then with the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Clippers, however, were unwilling to entertain a deal in which George would land with Golden State. They opted to let George enter the free-agent market, putting him out of reach for the salary-cap-strapped Warriors and into the laps of the Philadelphia 76ers, one of the few teams with sufficient cap space to offer a max contract ($212 million, four years).

So, George’s first game this season at Chase Center will be as an opponent. The 76ers (13-18) and Warriors (16-16) meet Thursday night, with tipoff scheduled shortly after 7.

The man the Warriors targeted will spend considerable time facing Andrew Wiggins, one of the players that interested the Clippers when the teams considered proposals last summer.

Wiggins’ season has been one of peaks and valleys. He’s averaging 16.4 points per game, third on the team, shooting 44.6 percent from the field, including 40.7 percent distance. He is one of three Warriors – Stephen Curry and Jonathan Kuminga are the others – to score at least 20 points in nine games.

But Wiggins has reached 20 points only once in the last seven games and has a total of 23 over his last three games on 10-of-32 shooting from the field, including 3 of 14 from deep.

This game should place Wiggins’ pride on full display. He loves the Golden State franchise and knows he almost certainly would have gone to the Clippers in any deal that brought George to the Warriors.

Though George will face a variety of defenders, including Draymond Green and Kuminga, it’s Wiggins who has something to prove. If George, averaging 16.1 points while shooting 41.5 percent from the field, including 32.8 from deep, has the superior game, it puts Philly in position for victory.

Wiggins needs a strong game to pull out of his tailspin, and the same applies to the Warriors, who have lost 13 of their last 17 games and hoping to use the current homestand to right themselves.

The 76ers also are trying to rise in the standings. They’re trying to climb out of the hole they fell into earlier, losing 12 of their first 14 games while navigating injury-related absences of Joel Embiid and George. George is healthy, but Embiid is listed as questionable with a left foot sprain.

The highly anticipated matchup between the Golden State Warriors and the Philadelphia 76ers is set to be a thrilling showdown, but one specific matchup to keep an eye on is Paul George vs. Andrew Wiggins.

Both players are dynamic scorers and elite defenders, making this head-to-head battle one to watch. George, known for his versatility and ability to score from anywhere on the court, will be looking to outshine Wiggins, who has been a key contributor for the Warriors this season.

With the Warriors and 76ers both vying for playoff positioning, this matchup could have significant implications for both teams. Make sure to tune in to NBC Sports Bay Area & California to catch all the action and see which player comes out on top in this exciting showdown.

  • George And Amal Clooney To Navigate Extended Separation Amid ‘Professional Challenges’

George And Amal Clooney To Navigate Extended Separation Amid ‘Professional Challenges’

George and Amal Clooney are preparing for an extended separation as George embarks on his Broadway debut in Good Night, and Good Luck. The couple, married for 10 years, recently enjoyed a casual dinner date in St. Tropez on December 14, holding hands as they strolled near their home in Brignoles, France.

The six-month stint will take George, 63, across the Atlantic to New York City for rehearsals and performances, leaving Amal, 46, and their 7-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, at their 425-acre French estate. “George is thrilled about the opportunity, but it’s a big adjustment for their family,” a source told Life & Style.

Unlike earlier in their relationship, Amal and the kids won’t be joining George in the U.S. “The children are at an age where uprooting them from school is not an option,” George explained in a recent interview. The family cherishes the anonymity offered by their rural French community, where they can enjoy privacy away from paparazzi. “We don’t want to have photos of our kids out there,” George added.

The Clooneys are determined to make long-distance work, planning regular FaceTime calls and nightly chats before bedtime. Amal may visit George on select weekends to bridge the gap. However, insiders acknowledge the potential strain: “Long separations in the past haven’t always been easy for their marriage, so this will be a real test.”

George, performing eight shows a week, insists this will be a one-time commitment. “It’s six months of my life in New York, but after that, I’m dedicating my time to my family,” he said, emphasizing his love for driving the kids to school and spending quality time with Amal.

The couple’s strong bond and commitment to family remain at the forefront. “George assures Amal and the twins that he’ll be back before they know it,” the insider shared, confident their relationship can weather the temporary distance.

George and Amal Clooney, one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples, are reportedly facing an extended separation due to their busy work schedules and professional challenges.

Sources close to the couple have revealed that George, who is a highly sought-after actor and producer, and Amal, an accomplished human rights lawyer, have been struggling to find time for each other amidst their demanding careers.

The couple, who have been married since 2014 and share two children together, are said to be navigating the challenges of maintaining their relationship while juggling their respective professional commitments.

Despite the difficulties they are facing, George and Amal are said to be fully committed to making their marriage work and are determined to find a way to balance their careers with their personal lives.

Fans of the power couple are hopeful that they will be able to weather this storm and come out stronger on the other side. George and Amal have always been known for their strong bond and unwavering support for each other, and it is believed that they will be able to overcome this latest hurdle in their relationship.

George, Amal Clooney marriage set to face ‘big test’

George and Amal Clooney have been married for a decade, but the 10-year union is set to face a “big test,” sources say.

Because, they shared, the Batman star is for the first time tapped to play a Broadway show in the United States for a period of six months.

“George has never done Broadway before, and he’s thrilled about the opportunity, but between rehearsals and performances, it means he will spend six months in NYC,” the source told Life & Style.

The issue here is the couple will be separated for a couple of months – this long-distance – insiders warn, may not bode well for the duo.

“Amal is going to remain in France, where their two children are settled in — and there’s no denying this is going to test their 10-year marriage,” the tipster tattled.

In the wake of the Oscar winner’s latest work assignment, the source shared the couple will work out different ways to stay connected.

“They’re going to stay in touch over FaceTime and text,” the mole squealed. “George will be able to speak to the kids every night before bedtime, taking the time difference into consideration. And Amal might be able to fly out for the occasional weekend visit.”

“But the truth is, in the past, when jobs have kept George and Amal separated, it didn’t do the marriage much good,” the snitch revealed. “So spending so much time apart is bound to be challenging.”

However, the insider also added that the pair is seemingly strong, “George is telling Amal and the twins that he’ll be back home in no time at all.”

Amid rumors and speculations, George and Amal Clooney’s marriage is said to be facing a “big test.” The power couple, who tied the knot in 2014, have been plagued by rumors of discord and tension in recent months.

Sources close to the couple have revealed that George’s busy schedule and constant travel for work have put a strain on their relationship. Amal, a successful human rights lawyer, is often left to juggle their twins and her demanding career on her own.

The couple has faced scrutiny from the media since their whirlwind romance and lavish wedding. Despite their public image as the picture-perfect couple, insiders suggest that cracks are beginning to show in their marriage.

As they approach their seventh wedding anniversary, many are wondering if George and Amal will be able to weather this storm and emerge stronger than ever. Only time will tell if their love can withstand this “big test.”

George and Amal Clooney Prepare for Extended Separation Amid Broadway Stint: ‘Bound to Be Challenging’

Taking advantage of the lovely weather, George and Amal Clooney headed out for a romantic dinner on December 14 in St. Tropez, about an hour and a half from their home in Brignoles, France. The duo dressed casually — Amal, 46, in denim cutoffs, while George, 63, wore a black polo shirt — and held hands as they walked.

It was a nice moment for the pair, who are staring down an extended separation when the ER actor heads across the Atlantic to star in Good Night, and Good Luck on Broadway.

“George has never done Broadway before, and he’s thrilled about the opportunity, but between rehearsals and performances, it means he will spend six months in NYC,” an insider exclusively tells Life & Style. “Amal is going to remain in France, where their two children are settled in — and there’s no denying this is going to test their 10-year marriage.”

Earlier in their relationship, Amal would have just gone with George. But now that the couple’s twins — Alexander and Ella — are 7 years old, it’s no longer an option. “My kids are of a certain age, we’re not going to uproot our kids out of school and run around,” George recently told GQ. He and Amal also love the relative anonymity the children have at their 425-acre estate, known as Domaine le Canadel, and in the surrounding community, where the family can go into town without fear of encountering paparazzi. “We don’t want to have photos of our kids out there,” George shared.

George and Amal Clooney Plan to Be ‘Long-Distance’ for 6 Months

The current plan is for the family to try the long-distance thing for a while and see how that works. “They’re going to stay in touch over FaceTime and text,” says the insider. “George will be able to speak to the kids every night before bedtime, taking the time difference into consideration. And Amal might be able to fly out for the occasional weekend visit.” But the truth is, in the past when jobs have kept George and Amal separated, “it didn’t do the marriage much good,” says the insider. “So spending so much time apart is bound to be challenging.”

George Amal Clooney Prepare to Be Separated Amid Broadway Stint

George Amal Clooney Prepare to Be Separated Amid Broadway Stint

Still, George — who will be performing onstage eight times a week — is adamant this is a one-time deal. “That’s going to be six months of my life in New York. But … I won’t do another thing,” he’s said of his “time allotment” in 2025. “I’m going to give myself time with my kids. I really enjoy driving them to school, and my wife and I are having a really wonderful time. So I don’t want to lose all of that.”

Indeed, his latest motto is “Everything in moderation.” Their relationship is seemingly strong enough to withstand the distance, as the insider adds, “George is telling Amal and the twins that he’ll be back home in no time at all.”

George and Amal Clooney, Hollywood’s power couple, are gearing up for an extended period of separation as George prepares for his upcoming Broadway stint. The couple, who are known for their strong and loving relationship, are bracing themselves for the challenges that come with being apart for an extended period of time.

George is set to star in a highly anticipated Broadway production, which will require him to be in New York City for an extended period of time. Meanwhile, Amal will be holding down the fort at home with their two young children.

While the couple is no stranger to spending time apart due to their busy schedules, this upcoming separation is bound to be challenging. They have always made it a priority to prioritize their relationship and make time for each other, but the demands of George’s Broadway stint will undoubtedly put their relationship to the test.

Despite the challenges ahead, George and Amal are determined to make it work and are committed to staying connected and supporting each other throughout this separation. Their love and dedication to each other will undoubtedly see them through this difficult time, and they are looking forward to reuniting once George’s Broadway stint comes to an end.

Paul George challenged Jared McCain with important question after brutal injury blow

Paul George issued a challenge to help motivate Jared McCain to recover from a devastating injury he suffered.

It’s hard to believe that Paul George is an NBA veteran. He has been in the league for almost 15 years now and has found a lot of success.

George has struggled to find championship glory in his career. But that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been a brilliant player during his time in the league.

PG-13 has suffered many serious injuries in his career, which makes his longevity in the NBA all the more surprising. But he’s used this experience to share some words of wisdom for a young 76ers star.

    Paul George encourages Jared McCain

Paul George spoke about his teammate, young rookie Jared McCain, suffering an injury. George shared the words of encouragement he gave McCain and hoped he could return strong.

“I saw him in the training room before he had the surgery. I was like ‘This is the real Welcome to the NBA, man, unfortunately’. Dealing with your first injury, how do you respond after that?”

“How are you gonna respond from this point on? The chase is back on, of finding who you are when you left the game. And if you can be better than that person that you were when you left the game.”

“It can be dark. With the success he has had, and I know damn well he wanted to be Rookie of the Year finalist, be the last one to win.”

McCain is expected to make a return to around March of 2025. At this rate, he will miss too many games to be eligible to win Rookie of the Year, as the new NBA stipulates that players must play 65 games to be considered for end-of-season awards.

Paul George, the star player of the Los Angeles Clippers, recently suffered a brutal injury blow that left him sidelined for the foreseeable future. But instead of focusing on his own recovery, George took the time to challenge his teammate Jared McCain with an important question.

In a heartfelt conversation, George asked McCain, “How are you going to step up and fill the void left by my absence?” This question not only shows George’s concern for the team’s success, but also his belief in McCain’s ability to rise to the occasion.

McCain, who has been a key player for the Clippers, now faces the challenge of stepping into a bigger role and helping lead the team in George’s absence. But with George’s support and belief in him, there’s no doubt that McCain will rise to the occasion and make his mark on the court.

As the Clippers navigate through this difficult time without George, it’s clear that the team’s camaraderie and belief in each other will be crucial in overcoming this setback. And with George’s challenge to McCain, it’s evident that the team is ready to face whatever challenges come their way.

  • NBA News: 76ers’ Paul George joins Davis, Durant, Booker, Wembanyama, and other NBA stars in criticizing new All-Star Format

NBA News: 76ers’ Paul George joins Davis, Durant, Booker, Wembanyama, and other NBA stars in criticizing new All-Star Format

Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Victor Wembanyama, and Anthony Davis are among the marquee names voicing their displeasure with the NBA’s new All-Star Game format. The changes, which have sparked widespread debate, have many players longing for the simplicity and competitive spirit of the traditional format. Joining the chorus of discontent is Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George, who did not shy away from sharing his views.

Speaking on a recent episode of Podcast P, presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment, George questioned the logic behind the revamped structure.

“We already had a hard time with one game; how are we going to have three All-Star Games?” George said. “We had a hard enough time trying to get everyone to compete at a high level playing in one game. So I just don’t understand how; I guess it’s a shorter number to play to, so I guess that’s the competitive part about it. It’s competing to get to, I think it’s 40 or something like that.”

George continued, emphasizing his dissatisfaction: “But yeah, I just don’t like the format. If we’re not going to go out and compete and be competitive, then I think it’s still just wasting time.”

Anthony Davis (23) as he shoots during the NBA Basketball Herren USA All-Star Game

    Details of the new format

Under the new format, the NBA will announce 24 All-Stars, who will then be divided into three eight-player teams. A fourth team will consist of players from the winner of the Rising Star Challenge, which features rookies and second-year players. Adding to the novelty, TNT commentators Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Shaquille O’Neal will draft the three main teams.

While the league hopes this revamped structure will inject excitement into the event, critics argue it sacrifices the essence of the All-Star Game.

    Nostalgia for the classic format

The changes have reignited nostalgia for the traditional format, where two teams, typically captained by the leading vote-getters, competed in a single, high-stakes game. This straightforward structure produced unforgettable moments, from Michael Jordan’s iconic battles with Magic Johnson to more recent showdowns between LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The introduction of a more complex system has left fans feeling disconnected, with many calling for a return to basics: one competitive game featuring the league’s brightest stars playing at their peak.

For both players and fans, the NBA All-Star Game has always been more than just an exhibition; it’s a celebration of basketball’s finest talent. The growing chorus of criticism reflects a collective desire to preserve the event’s essence and restore the prestige that made it an annual tradition beloved by millions.

Recently, the NBA announced a new All-Star Format that has received mixed reviews from players and fans alike. One of the most vocal critics of the new format is Philadelphia 76ers’ star Paul George.

In a recent interview, George expressed his disappointment with the changes to the All-Star Game, stating that it takes away from the competitive nature of the event. George joins fellow NBA stars Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and rising star Victor Wembanyama in criticizing the new format.

The new format, which includes a mid-season tournament and changes to the voting process, has been met with skepticism and backlash from players who feel that it diminishes the significance of being named an All-Star.

It remains to be seen how the NBA will address the concerns of its players, but one thing is for sure – the new All-Star Format has certainly sparked a lively debate among basketball fans and players alike.

  • George Kittle hopes to break Terrell Owens’ 49ers receiving records – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

George Kittle hopes to break Terrell Owens’ 49ers receiving records – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

SANTA CLARA — Tight end George Kittle has one season remaining on his contract with the 49ers, and that might be all he needs to reach a couple of his goals.

But he made it clear he does not want his time with the 49ers to end there.

Kittle on Friday said he wants to eclipse Pro Football Hall of Famer Terrell Owens to rank No. 2 on the 49ers’ all-time lists of receptions and yards receiving.

“I don’t think I’ll ever catch Jerry Rice on anything,” Kittle said. “But that’s totally fine. I’m OK with that. I don’t want to play that long.”

Kittle currently ranks third in franchise history, behind Rice and Owens, with 528 receptions for 7,241 receiving yards.

In eight seasons with San Francisco, Owens caught 592 passes for 8,572 yards.

Kittle is one of the few star players on the 49ers who is living up to expectations this season as San Francisco staggers toward the finish line with a 6-9 record.

He leads the team with 68 catches for 967 yards and eight touchdowns.

Kittle is within striking distance of Owens. He said his annual goal is to catch around 75 passes for 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns.

With 33 yards receiving in the final two games of the season, Kittle will reach 1,000 yards for the fourth time in his career.

The only other tight ends in NFL history to accomplish that feat are Travis Kelce (seven), and Tony Gonzalez, Rob Gronkowski and Jason Witten (four, apiece).

Kittle is on pace for the Pro Football Hall of Fame through this stage in his career. But he said he does not look at where he stands among the all-time greats at his position.

“I’ll look back on that whenever I’m done playing. It is what it is,” Kittle said. “I’m just very excited I’ve got to spend eight years with the San Francisco 49ers, hopefully continue to play here because it’s a storied franchise, and hopefully I can eventually catch T.O.“

The 49ers will face a decision with Kittle, 31, in the offseason. He has one season remaining on the five-year, $75 million contract he signed prior to the 2020 season. He is scheduled to make $15 million in salary and bonuses in 2025.

It would be a reasonable demand for his representation to push for a contract extension in the offseason to add more years and guaranteed money to his contract.

Kittle declined to address that topic on Friday.

“You can ask me that in the offseason,” he said.

He said he wants to continue to play football until the wheels fall off or his wife tells him it’s time to retire. Kittle also made it clear that he wishes to remain with the 49ers for at least several seasons to come.

“I love where I’m at,” said Kittle, a fifth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. “It’s a great place.”

San Francisco 49ers star tight end George Kittle is setting his sights on breaking Terrell Owens’ receiving records for the team. Kittle, who has quickly become one of the most dynamic offensive weapons in the NFL, is determined to etch his name in the history books alongside one of the greatest receivers to ever don the red and gold.

Owens, who played for the 49ers from 1996 to 2003, holds several franchise records for receiving, including most receiving yards in a single season (1,451) and most receiving touchdowns in a single season (16). Kittle, who has already made a name for himself with his elite pass-catching ability and incredible athleticism, is hoping to surpass Owens’ impressive numbers and leave his own mark on the storied franchise.

With a strong work ethic and a relentless drive to succeed, Kittle has proven that he has what it takes to rewrite the record books. Despite facing constant double teams and tough defenses, the Pro Bowl tight end has continued to put up impressive numbers and establish himself as a key player for the 49ers.

As he enters the upcoming season with his sights set on breaking Owens’ records, Kittle remains humble and focused on helping his team win games. With his combination of speed, strength, and hands, there’s no doubt that he has the potential to achieve his goal and solidify his place in 49ers history.

Fans can expect to see Kittle continue to dominate on the field and make a strong push towards surpassing Owens’ records. With his talent and determination, the sky’s the limit for this young star as he looks to etch his name alongside the all-time greats in San Francisco 49ers history.

Can George, Charlotte, and Louis Keep Their Christmas Gifts?

For a family that has it all, the royals like to keep things understated and inexpensive in the gift-giving department. The royal family has a long-running tradition of giving each other funny gag gifts on Christmas Eve, and both King Charles and Kate Middleton are reportedly not fans of extravagant presents. Apparently, there are also strict rules around which gifts that Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are allowed to keep –especially when they’re presents from the public.

On December 25, the Wales kids joined the rest of the royal family as they made the Christmas Day walk from Sandringham House to St. Mary Magdalene Church at Sandringham. The highly-photographed annual engagement is a chance for royals to mingle with well-wishers in a more intimate setting–and in TikTok clips of their latest outing, George, Charlotte, and Louis were given countless gifts from onlookers as they walked with their dad. The trio was showered with chocolate, stuffed animals, and flowers, and Prince William even had to step in to help carry some of the extra goodies when 6-year-old Louis became overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of gifts. “Flowers [pointing at Charlotte], chocolate [pointing at George and Louis]—very easy,” William joked to the crowd.

So, will Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis be able to keep their latest Christmas gifts? According to official royal gift protocol, it depends on a few factors. Per Hello!, royal family members are allowed to accept gifts during official engagements, but these become part of the royal collection. They’re also allowed to accept gifts from people they don’t know, but these presents need to fall into a few categories.

Flowers, food, and other consumable items are acceptable to keep as long as they’re in reasonable quantities, meaning that the Wales children will probably be able to keep the flowers and chocolate they received on Christmas day. Other presents that are allowed are copies of books if they’re given by the author (as long as the book’s subject isn’t controversial), as well as gifts that cost less than 150 pounds (or roughly $188). This means that Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will probably also be keeping their stuffed animals, but it’s unknown whether the youngest Wales child will be able to keep the “hand-finished silver egg cup and spoon” that he was given by a fellow 6-year-old, per Hello!

Even among themselves, the royals put a lighthearted spin on gift-giving. “They love doing gag gift exchanges and a Sandringham walkabout,” a source told Us Weekly. “They don’t do anything extravagant for gifts and do more funny gifts that make each other laugh.”

As the holiday season approaches, many are wondering what gifts Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will receive from their family and friends. However, there is one question on everyone’s mind – can they actually keep their Christmas gifts?

As members of the royal family, George, Charlotte, and Louis are often showered with extravagant presents from well-wishers around the world. From expensive toys to designer clothes, the young royals receive a wide variety of gifts each year. However, there are strict rules in place regarding what they can actually keep.

According to royal protocol, any gifts received by the royal family belong to the Crown, not the individual recipients. This means that all presents, no matter how big or small, technically belong to the monarchy and can be used or disposed of as the royal family sees fit.

Despite this rule, the young royals are allowed to keep some of their gifts, particularly those of sentimental value or personal significance. For example, handmade items or gifts from close family members are often allowed to be kept by the children.

So, as Christmas approaches and the presents start rolling in, it remains to be seen which gifts George, Charlotte, and Louis will be able to keep. Will they be allowed to hold onto their favorite toys and trinkets, or will they have to relinquish them to the Crown? Only time will tell.
