As for who is in the cast of The Z-Suite, Lauren will step into the role of Monica Marks, with Nico Santos portraying executive Doug Garcia and Madison Shamoun playing social media manager Kriska Thompson.

Lauren Graham touched down in Park City on Thursday to attend the Sundance Film Festival premiere of her new film, Twinless. The bromance dramedy stars Dylan O’Brien opposite the film’s writer-director James Sweeney in the story of two young men who meet in a twin bereavement support group and form an unlikely bond.
Graham plays the mother of O’Brien’s characters — the Maze Runner star has dual roles as the twins, one who dies unexpectedly and the other as he attempts to find peace after losing his other half — and while the role is small, the veteran actress couldn’t pass it up. “I don’t often get offered something a little darker and something that felt like a cool challenge,” Graham told The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet inside the Eccles Center Theatre. “It doesn’t need to be about me. I can just go do something because I like it.” Plus, she said she “loves Dylan’s work.”
Of her few scenes with O’Brien, Graham noted that the two just really clicked. “He’s got such a great charisma and he just worked so hard on both of these twins and took it so seriously, but with a lightness and just kindness to the crew and to me. There’s no place he can’t go.”
As for Graham, she has places to go. The actress is scheduled to be in Park City for only about 24 hours before jetting off to New York City for a media promotion blitz for her new show, The Z-Suite on Tubi. The show, set to premiere Feb. 6, casts Graham as Monica Marks, an advertising maven, and Nico Santos as her loyal right-hand executive, both of whom find themselves pushed out and canceled after a blunder. Together, they must find a way back to glory while facing off against eager Gen Z staffers who have taken her place.
The schedule will include the morning show rounds, a red carpet premiere and press junket, a swirl that Graham hasn’t been on in a few years, she said. “I’m on a new network where [the show is among] the first scripted programming,” she explained. “There’s a little bit of pressure, but also just a lot of momentum and excitement and we will just try not to screw it up.”
After the trailer dropped this week, a handful of headlines appeared trying to connect the dots between Graham’s Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls and Monica Marks on The Z-Suite. Graham appreciates the connection but insists the characters could not be more different.
“There are no similarities and I hope they’ll come along for this ride,” she told THR. “I can’t do that. I can never replicate the beauty and the magic of that character and that writing and that time, so I might as well not try. This is something very different, but she’s fun and kooky and the show has a spirit to it that I think has a coziness to it, but it’s very different character.”

A new Happy Gilmore 2 image spotlighting Adam Sandler’s titular character in his element has arrived. The hotly-anticipated sequel to the 1996 classic will debut on Netflix sometime in 2025.
Netflix’s new image reveals Sandler’s Happy on the golf course, decked out in a Boston Bruins jersey, taking a big swing as a group of spectators looks on in anticipation. The Happy Gilmore 2 image also presents a look at Happy’s new caddie, played by the internationally acclaimed musician, budding wrestler, and Bullet Train actor Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, popularly known as Bad Bunny.
Netflix shares big news about the anticipated release of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
Behind-the-scenes Happy Gilmore 2 photos arrived late last year, while the movie was filming, showcasing Sandler in a striped bathrobe worn over a gray sweater, yellow sweatpants, and matching sneakers. The actor, clearly between takes, chats with a production team member while waiting for the next scene. While the images don’t offer any insight into the story, which is still under wraps, they indicate that Happy is likely the same laid-back guy fans grew to adore in the original film.
Kyle Newacheck directs Happy Gilmore 2 from a script by Sandler and Tim Herlihy. Alongside Sandler, the movie sees the return of original cast members Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit, and Christopher McDonald as Happy’s nemesis Shooter McGavin. New additions alongside Bad Bunny, include Benny Safdie, and Nick Swardson, with their roles yet to be revealed. NFL star Travis Kelce will make a cameo appearance.
Netflix unveils the summer 2025 release date for the long-gestating and eagerly anticipated sequel to Charlize Theron’s The Old Guard.
Netflix officially announced the Happy Gilmore sequel in May 2024, after Sandler teased the follow-up for months. The actor then confirmed that production would begin in New Jersey in September. “We worked hard on the script. We didn’t want to let anybody down,” Sandler stated on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “People have been asking me for a long time. We’re really excited about it. We wrote our a**es off. So many of the golfers are being nice and will be a part of it.”
The Original Happy Gilmore
Directed by Dennis Dugan, 1996’s Happy Gilmore tells the story of Happy, a failed hockey player with a natural talent for golf. Following the repossession of his grandmother’s house due to unpaid taxes, Happy reluctantly enters a professional golf tournament to win the prize money and save her home. His unconventional approach to the sport, combined with his short temper and powerful swing, made him a sensation on the tour.
Happy Gilmore, which also starred Bowen, McDonald, Frances Bay, Carl Weathers, Allen Covert, and Robert Smigel, grossed over $41 million worldwide, cementing Sandler’s status as a comedy film superstar.
Adam Sandler is back on the golf course in a new look at Netflix’s Happy Gilmore 2! The beloved comedian is returning to his iconic role as the lovable loser turned golf superstar in the highly anticipated sequel to the cult classic film.
In the new teaser, Sandler is seen back in his signature hockey jersey and baggy pants, swinging away on the golf course with his unique blend of humor and charm. Fans of the original film will be delighted to see Sandler reprising his role as Happy Gilmore, and it looks like he hasn’t missed a beat since we last saw him on the big screen.
The sequel is set to bring back all the beloved characters from the original film, including Shooter McGavin and Chubbs Peterson, as well as introducing a new cast of characters to join in on the fun. With Sandler’s trademark wit and comedic timing, Happy Gilmore 2 is sure to be a hit with audiences of all ages.
So mark your calendars and get ready to hit the links with Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore 2, coming soon to Netflix. It’s bound to be a hole-in-one!
The price is… right? At least, it seems to be for Adam Sandler and Bad Bunny as the pair take to the fairways in the newest sneak peek at Happy Gilmore 2, which Netflix has just released. In the image, we see Sandler in full Happy getup, including that iconic Boston Bruins jersey and sneakers, taking one hell of a swing at the ball, while Bad Bunny caddies for him in the background. It’s been three decades since we last saw Happy going head to head with Christopher McDonald‘s Shooter McGavin, and the first trailer for the movie — released at Christmas — showed the two will be renewing their rivalry, but quite how remains to be seen.
Also returning from the original film is Modern Family star Julie Bowenas Virginia Venit, while new additions include the likes of Travis Kelce, Eminem, Benny Safdie (Oppenheimer), Margaret Qualley (Maid), Scott Mescudi (Don’t Look Up), golf icon Jack Nicklaus, and a number of PGA tour veterans too.
And although he wasn’t featured in the teaser trailer, we know from an interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub, that Ben Stiller will also be reprising his role as the sinister Hal L in a big way. “There is a good reveal in the movie having to do with Hal’s name that I won’t say,” Stiller told Collider back in November, as he offered us all another warm glass of shut the hell up.
What Was ‘Happy Gilmore’ About?
Image via Netflix
The original Happy Gilmore movie is considered peak Sander. In his 90s prime of films many of us discovered on VHS at Blockbuster (right, guys?), Happy Gilmore follows the character of the same name (following the style of other Sandler movies such as Billy Madison and Little Nicky). Happy is a wannabe ice hockey player with the temper of a bulldog on heat. He soon figures out just how good he is at golf (with a little finessing from the one-handed former golf pro Chubbs, played by the late great Carl Weathers) and soon discovers that he can use that talent to help save his grandmother’s home. With both Stiller and McDonald set to reprise their roles, Happy’s greatest rivals will be returning, so it will be interesting to see what the conflict is nearly 30 years later.
The first Happy Gilmore movie is currently available to stream for free on Tubi. Stay with Collider for the latest updates on Happy Gilmore 2.
Adam Sandler and Bad Bunny were spotted hitting the fairways together in a new image from the upcoming film “Happy Gilmore 2.” The comedy sequel sees Sandler reprising his role as the lovable yet temperamental hockey player turned golfer, Happy Gilmore.
In the image, Sandler and Bad Bunny are seen sporting golf attire as they share a laugh on the green. The unlikely duo’s on-screen chemistry is sure to bring plenty of laughs and surprises to fans of the original film.
Fans of the original “Happy Gilmore” can look forward to more outrageous golf antics, hilarious one-liners, and memorable moments in the highly anticipated sequel. Stay tuned for more updates on “Happy Gilmore 2” as production continues.

The series Gilmore Girls just got another streaming home, this time landing on Hulu, which means even more people can binge the beloved series. While the show is filled with sharp, quirky, and funny characters, Melissa McCarthy‘s portrayal of the quirky and passionate chef and Lorelei’s (Lauren Graham) best friend and business partner, Sookie St. James is the best Gilmore Girls character. Audiences weren’t totally aware of McCarthy’s genius comedic timing yet, but this role let her put it on full display, easily becoming one of the funniest characters of the series. Even with casting one of the funniest humans on the planet to play Sookie, there was so much more that made her a fully formed character that audiences still love to this day.
The Character of Sookie St. James Was So Much More Than Comic Relief in ‘Gilmore Girls’
Back when Gilmore Girls was first airing, it wasn’t uncommon to see the “best friend” role be relegated to an actor with only a few scenes, merely there to support the lead of the show and maybe get a few laughs. Thankfully, creator Amy Sherman Palladinorecognized McCarthy’s talents, highlighting not only her comedic abilities but also her warmth and vulnerability. Throughout the show’s 7-season run, Sookie has her own real character arcs, going from a passionate, and yes, often clumsy, chef to a successful businesswoman and master at her craft. She also married another fan-favorite character, Jackson (Jackson Douglas), and they have two children together.
While her endearing clumsiness and her passion for food often drew laughs, Sookie had moments of self-doubt and fear and struggles with her work/life balance, making her a fully formed and relatable character. Her loyalty to Lorelei and their friendship easily became one of the best duos of the show. It was clear that these two women loved and respected one another, even when they clashed over the Inn they ran together. Sookie’s role in Rory’s (Alexis Bledel) life is also what makes her such a great character. Her unwavering support for Rory’s dreams and being there when Lorelai and Rory were on the outs proves that Sookie was more than just a one-dimensional character.
What Melissa McCarthy Brought to the Role of Sookie in ‘Gilmore Girls’
Image via WB
Since Gilmore Girls ended, Melissa McCarthy has had a sensational career, going on to star in her own showMike & Molly, which earned her her first Emmy Award. She also has had great success in her film career, earning two Academy Award nominations for her iconic performance in the comedy Bridesmaids, as well as her more dramatic turn in the film Can You Ever Forgive Me?These three roles perfectly encapsulate why Sookie became the iconic and beloved character she is today.
Even in McCarthy’s funniest roles, there is a depth she brings to the characters she plays, showing a vulnerability and warmth behind the hilarious one-liners and physical comedy. With her role in Gilmore Girls, she did exactly that, playing the physical comedy of falling in the kitchen or spraying herself in the eye to the sweet moments between her and Lorelai or Jackson. Sookie’s deeper moments are just as powerful as her light-hearted ones, showcasing McCarthy’s ability to balance humor with genuine emotion. She has great chemistry with Lauren Graham and the two easily nail the quick-paced signature dialogue the show became famous for.
Thanks to streaming, Gilmore Girls has gained a whole new generation of viewers who are seeing the early aughts classic for the first time. While they won’t have the experience of seeing Melissa McCarthy in one of her earliest roles without knowing the star she’d become, it’s clear from her standout performance why her career took off the way it did. Even with her incredible success, her role as Sookie St. James remains one of her best. McCarthy’s portrayal brought a rare authenticity to the character, making Sookie an unforgettable part of Gilmore Girls‘ enduring legacy.
All seasons of Gilmore Girls is now available to stream on Hulu.
In the beloved TV show “Gilmore Girls,” there were many memorable characters who added depth and heart to the story. One character who often gets overlooked is Lane Kim, Rory’s best friend and music-loving sidekick.
Lane may have started off as the quirky best friend, but she quickly developed into a complex and interesting character in her own right. Despite growing up in a strict and conservative household, Lane was determined to forge her own path and pursue her passion for music.
Throughout the series, Lane navigated the challenges of balancing her traditional Korean upbringing with her rebellious spirit. She formed her own band, Hep Alien, and worked tirelessly to pursue her dream of becoming a successful musician.
Lane’s storylines were often poignant and relatable, touching on themes of identity, family expectations, and the search for independence. She was a loyal and supportive friend to Rory, always there to offer a listening ear or a shoulder to lean on.
In the end, Lane Kim was so much more than just the quirky best friend. She was a strong, resilient, and fiercely independent young woman who inspired viewers with her determination and passion for life. She may not have had as much screen time as some of the other characters, but Lane’s impact on the show and its fans was undeniable.

McDonald, a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan who grew up in Romulus and graduated from Hobart College in Geneva, has appeared in more than 200 movies and TV shows, including “Thelma & Louise,” “Quiz Show,” “Requiem for a Dream,” and the 1997 “Leave It to Beaver” remake. Adam Sandler just made sure fans were having a Happy holiday by teeing up a first look at the sequel to one of his most beloved comedies.
The Sandman shared a teaser for Happy Gilmore 2 on his Instagram on Wednesday, writing alongside it, “Happy Chanukah! Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! And Happy Gilmore to all!!!!!!”
The sneak peek at the upcoming Netflix film — a follow-up to the 1996 comedy starring Sandler as a short-fused wannabe hockey player who uses his slap shot skills to become a pro golfer — shows Happy back on the golf course in his Boston Bruins jersey.
The short clip offers a glimpse at NFL star Travis Kelce, months after Sandler revealed the Kansas City Chiefs tight end had a role in the upcoming film. “It’s great to see you back, Mr. Gilmore,” Kelce, donning what appears to be a waiter uniform, says.

Sandler previously said he had considered casting Taylor Swift’s main squeeze as his son in the movie. “We were like, ‘Imagine if Travis was my first baby, how funny that would be?’ Just a badass,” Sandler said on an episode of Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heightspodcast. In an earlier podcast episode, the Super Bowl champ had denied rumors he had been cast but pleaded for a part, saying, “I didn’t even know there was a job opening for Happy Gilmore 2, but if there is, I’ll be a f—ing extra. Anything to get around Happy Gilmore, an Adam Sandler film, or set — count me in.”
The teaser also sees the return of Modern Family star Julie Bowen as public relations head Virginia Venit, who is also Happy’s love interest, and ends with a graveyard face-off between Happy and his old rival Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald).
Newcomers to the sequel cast include Bad Bunny (shown as a caddy in the teaser), Margaret Qualley, Scott Mescudi (a.k.a. rapper Kid Cudi), Benny Safdie, and Nick Swardson.
