  • Selena Gomez’s Deleted Post About Undocumented Immigrants Draws Criticism

On Monday, a day after Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a statement that it had made 956 arrests as part of President Trump’s crackdown on undocumented immigrants, the actress and singer Selena Gomez posted an Instagram video to her 422 million followers in which she discussed the situation while crying.

She has since deleted the original post, but its short run online created quite a stir, with Mr. Trump’s “border czar” and numerous political commentators weighing in. One of the commentators called for Ms. Gomez, who was born in Texas, to be deported.

Immigration is a subject personal to Ms. Gomez, a star of the television show “Only Murders in the Building” and the Oscar-nominated film “Emilia Pérez.” In 2019, she wrote an essay for Time magazine in which she reflected on being the granddaughter of undocumented immigrants from Mexico who eventually gained U.S. citizenship. Her aunt, she said, crossed the border hidden in the back of a truck. Her father was born in the United States.

“Immigration is a divisive political issue,” Ms. Gomez wrote. “But immigration goes beyond politics and headlines. It is a human issue, affecting real people, dismantling real lives.”

In 2017, Ms. Gomez was an executive producer on the Netflix documentary “Living Undocumented,” which looked at the lives of eight families living in the United States. “I watched footage outlining their deeply personal journeys and I cried,” Ms. Gomez wrote in the Time essay. “It captured the shame, uncertainty and fear I saw my own family struggle with.”

With Mr. Trump quickly fulfilling his campaign promise to ramp up arrests and deportations of undocumented immigrants, Ms. Gomez was again moved to tears, this time on social media.

Ms. Gomez, sitting in a beige-colored room and looking into the camera, said, “All my people are getting attacked, the children.” She was visibly distraught; her face appeared red from crying and her voice broke as she spoke. Wiping away tears, she added, “I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.” Ms. Gomez’s video was captioned with the words, “I’m sorry” next to a Mexican flag emoji.

After her post, Ms. Gomez was immediately hit with a great deal of negative feedback on all social media platforms, which she acknowledged in her Instagram stories. “Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people,” she wrote in a follow-up post that was also deleted.

Thomas D. Homan, the acting director of ICE during Mr. Trump’s first term and current White House “border czar,” took issue with Ms. Gomez’s post. In an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Mr. Homan suggested that Ms. Gomez’s empathy for deported immigrants was misplaced. “We’ve got a quarter of a million Americans dead from fentanyl coming across an open border. Where’s the tears for them?” Mr. Homan said.

Charlie Kirk, the founder of the conservative political group Turning Point USA, questioned on X why Ms. Gomez, an American, would identify with the undocumented immigrants rather than her fellow Americans. The political commentator Tomi Lahren said on X, “This is why we don’t take our political advice from Disney child stars.”

Among the most extreme reactions came from Samuel Parker, a Republican who sought to run for the U.S. Senate from Utah in 2018. He wrote a post on X in which he called Ms. Gomez’s grandparents “illegals,” despite their having been naturalized as U.S. citizens, and said, “Maybe Selena should be deported, too?”

Others took a more measured approach to Ms. Gomez’s tearful message. “This is an issue for some people that is extremely emotional,” Ashley Allison, a CNN political commentator and former staffer in the Obama and Biden administrations, said during a round-table discussion on the network. “I’m not going to demean Selena Gomez because she was emotionally enraged.”

She also received public support from a wide range of prominent people, including Michigan’s governor, Gretchen Whitmer; the former talk-show host Geraldo Rivera and the rapper Flavor Flav.

Yes. In an Instagram story, Ms. Gomez responded to Mr. Parker, writing, “Oh Mr. Parker, Mr. Parker. Thanks for the laugh and the threat.”

Mr. Parker pinned a screenshot of her message to the top of his X profile.

Selena Gomez’s Deleted Post About Undocumented Immigrants Draws Criticism

Selena Gomez recently took to social media to share a post in support of undocumented immigrants, calling for compassion and understanding towards those seeking a better life. However, the post was quickly deleted after receiving backlash and criticism from some of her followers.

Many criticized Gomez for speaking out on a political issue, with some arguing that celebrities should stay out of politics. Others accused her of being out of touch with the realities of illegal immigration and the impact it has on communities.

While Gomez has been vocal about her support for immigrant rights in the past, this latest post sparked a firestorm of debate and controversy. Some defended her right to speak out, praising her for using her platform to raise awareness about important issues.

Regardless of where you stand on the issue, it’s clear that Selena Gomez’s deleted post has sparked a conversation about immigration and the role of celebrities in activism. What are your thoughts on this situation? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Trump Responds to Selena Gomez’s Tearful Reaction to Mass Deportations With Clip Essentially Accusing Actress of Faking It

The Trump Administration has fired back at Selena Gomez after the singer shared (and shortly deleted) a tearful video in which she apologized for the deportation of undocumented immigrants in the United States.

The White House shared a video featuring commentary from mothers of children who were killed by undocumented people with the caption, “Their courageous mothers had something to say to @SelenaGomez and those who oppose securing our borders.”

The video, featuring women whose children were tragically murdered by undocumented people, also calls Gomez’ character into question and baselessly implies she has no empathy for the victims, and was faking her reaction to the mass deportations.

Earlier this month Gomez, who is a third-generation Mexican American, said in her video, “All my people are getting attacked … the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.” She soon took down the clip amid complaints from Trump supporters.

“Apparently it’s not OK to show empathy for people,” Gomez wrote in an Instagram Story after taking the video down.

On Friday the White House shared its response, which featured the mothers of Jocelyn Nungaray, Kayla Hamilton and Rachel Morin. Nungaray was killed by two undocumented man from Venezuela in June of last year. Hamilton was killed in 2022 by a teenage member of the MS-13 gang, and Morin was raped and murdered by Victor Martinez Hernandez, who entered the U.S. from El Salvador.

“Seeing that video, it’s hard to believe that it’s actually genuine and real because she’s an actress,” Nungaray’s mother Alexis says in the video. “My daughter was a child. There’s many other children whose lives were taken due to people who crossed here illegally.”

“You don’t know who you’re crying for. What about our children who were brutally murdered and raped and beat to death and left on the floor by these illegal immigrants?” asks Hamilton’s mother, Tammy Nobles.

Notably, Gomez in her original video was talking about children and other innocent people being deported despite the Trump administration’s claim the actions are targeted only at criminals. (Worth noting that by itself, being undocumented isn’t a crime, though crossing the border illegally is classified as a civil offense.)

The post Trump Responds to Selena Gomez’s Tearful Reaction to Mass Deportations With Clip Essentially Accusing Actress of Faking It appeared first on TheWrap.

In a recent interview, Selena Gomez tearfully expressed her deep sadness and frustration over the mass deportations happening in the United States. The singer and actress spoke out about the impact these deportations are having on families and communities, calling for compassion and understanding.

However, not everyone was moved by Gomez’s emotional plea. President Donald Trump responded to her tearful reaction with a clip essentially accusing the actress of faking it. In the clip, Trump can be heard saying, “I’ve seen better acting in a B-movie. Sad!”

Many people were outraged by Trump’s insensitive comments, criticizing him for attacking Gomez instead of addressing the real issue at hand. They pointed out that Gomez’s emotional reaction was genuine and heartfelt, and that dismissing her feelings only serves to further divide and dehumanize those affected by mass deportations.

It is disappointing to see the President of the United States resorting to such petty and callous behavior in response to a serious and pressing issue. Instead of mocking those who speak out against injustice, it is important for our leaders to listen, empathize, and work towards finding compassionate solutions for all those impacted by these policies.

  • Selena Gomez’s fans furious over rumors of Benny Blanco joining ‘Tangled’

Selena Gomezs fans stormed social media with rude remarks about Benny Blanco.
Selena Gomez’s fans stormed social media with rude remarks about Benny Blanco.

Selena Gomez’s fans have shared their honest opinions and reactions to rumours of her fiancé, Benny Blanco, being in the talks to play Tangled’s heartthrob Flynn Rider in the Disney’s live-action remake of the 2010s’ film.

In December, Variety reported that the live-action adaptation of Tangled was in development, with Michael Gracey speculated to direct. Ever since then, rumours about a potential cast for the lead roles have begun circulating all over social media.

New rumours emerged this week, implying that the 36-year-old songwriter could be cast as Flynn, a character that was originally voiced by Zachary Levi.

Fans of the widely beloved movie took their discontentment to X, formerly known as Twitter, with one saying, “Don’t ruin this movie for me.”

One expressed that Benny and Flynn look nothing alike so the casting wouldn’t make sense.

“Guess we’re getting a musical number with autotune in the tower!” another user remarked.

Fans have made it clear they are not happy with the alleged news, with many previously calling for Sabrina Carpenter to play Rapunzel and Avan Jogia or Milo Manheim to play the iconic thief.

Others suggested Kathryn Hahn’s name for the role of Mother Gothel.

Many others put Zayn Malik and Taylor Zakhar Perez’s names in the ring to take on the role of the notorious thief.

Selena Gomez’s fans are in uproar over recent rumors that producer Benny Blanco could be joining the upcoming Disney movie ‘Tangled’. The pop star’s loyal fanbase has taken to social media to express their disappointment and frustration, with many feeling that Blanco’s involvement could overshadow Gomez’s performance in the film.

One fan tweeted, “Selena deserves to shine in ‘Tangled’ without any distractions or competition. Benny Blanco needs to stay away!” Another fan wrote, “I will boycott ‘Tangled’ if Benny Blanco ruins Selena’s moment. She deserves better.”

While neither Gomez nor Blanco have confirmed or denied the rumors, it’s clear that fans are fiercely protective of the singer and want to see her succeed in her acting endeavors. Only time will tell if Blanco will indeed be joining the cast of ‘Tangled’, but one thing is certain – Selena Gomez’s fans will be watching closely and holding him accountable for any impact he may have on the film.

Selena Gomez may be living her fairytale these days — and looking the part in her Golden Globes Cinderella dress — but funnily enough, it’s her fiancé Benny Blanco who’s been the subject of rumors regarding an upcoming Disney movie. Ever since news broke that a live-action Tangled remake was happening, fans of the beloved 2010 animated film have wondered who could be cast as Rapunzel and Flynn. Some sites are alleging that Blanco is being considered for the latter role, and people apparently have some strong feelings about that.

The upcomingTangled movie is still in its early stages — I’m guessing it won’t be ready in time to make the 2025 movie calendar — and nothing’s been confirmed regarding casting, so these are only rumors for now. Either way, I hope Selena Gomez keeps Benny Blanco far away from the comments sections of sites like Drop Pop and Pop Hive, because no punches are being pulled regarding fans’ opinion of the music producer possibly playing Flynn Rider. One X (Twitter) user joked:

I was told he was only playing the donkey ???????

This person might have been confused since Tangled has the horse and Shrek has the donkey, but other comments made sure to cover all the bases of roles Benny Blanco might be more fit to play:

    • He isn’t even hot enough to play the horse chi.. – p0siti0nsstan

    • Um he doesnt even qualify Shrek – drewstarkeydick

    • He can play the trolls in Frozen – thedivaszn

    • We are looking for hero not a dragon – StandardSelena

    • Is it a joke? He can play Hagrid in some Harry Potter but definitely not Flynn Rider – saiyananakamoto

The reactions are pretty harsh, but it seems with Flynn being one of the many fictional men who have caused us to set our standards too high and is responsible for one of the most romantic scenes in Disney movie history, fans just aren’t willing to take a chance on Benny Blanco. More social media responses included:

    • Rapunzel is definitely fleeing back to Mother Gothel after that – ColeYoung67

    • Who asked for this… – hardtingz

    • Maybe mother really does know best – rosiesandlali

    • Yeah… thats a no from me… – Confused_1DFan

    • Flynn is supposed to be attractive – iam_rwylm

Zachary Levi, who voiced Flynn in the animated film, weighed in saying Timothée Chalamet might be a good fit for the role. Meanwhile, Mean Girls actress Avantika was met with similar cruel (and racist) backlash when rumors spread that she was being considered for Rapunzel. Fans are also hoping there might be a way to get Levi and OG Rapunzel voice Mandy Moore into the movie as well. We’ll have to see how things develop, but if you want to rewatch 2010’s Tangled in the meantime, you can stream it with a Disney+ subscription.

After rumors began swirling that Selena Gomez’s fiancé, Benny Blanco, may be involved in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney’s Tangled, fans have been quick to share their thoughts on social media.

Many fans have expressed their excitement at the possibility of Blanco being involved in the project, citing his talent and creativity as reasons why he would be a great fit for the role. Others have voiced their support for Gomez and Blanco’s relationship, saying that they make a great couple and that they hope to see them working together on the film.

However, not everyone is thrilled about the rumors. Some fans have expressed concerns about Blanco’s ability to do justice to the beloved Disney film, while others have questioned whether Gomez should be involved in the project at all.

Regardless of where they stand on the rumors, one thing is clear: fans are not holding back when it comes to sharing their opinions on the potential involvement of Selena Gomez’s fiancé in the live-action adaptation of Tangled. Only time will tell if these rumors prove to be true, but one thing is for sure – fans will be eagerly awaiting any updates on this developing story.

  • Selena Gomez’s marquise engagement ring from Benny Blanco: details

Selena Gomez’s marquise engagement ring from Benny Blanco: details

Benny Blanco proposed to Selena Gomez with a marquise-shaped engagement ring earlier this month. Instagram/@selenagomez

Selena Gomez is “Rare” — and so is her engagement ring.

Benny Blanco proposed to the singer, 32, with a stunning marquise engagement ring earlier this month after a year of dating, and the music producer, 36, had a specific image in his mind when designing the sparkler.

Blanco teamed up with jewelry duo Katherine Theofilos Claster and Stephanie Theofilos, the designers behind Abril Barret, to create the totally custom and special piece: a marquise center stone in a cathedral setting with an oversized brilliant-cut eternity band.

The music producer chose the shape in reference to the pop star’s 2015 song “Good for You.” @selenagomez/Instagram
Blanco teamed up with the jewelry duo behind Abril Barret for the stunning, cathedral-set design.
The designers tell us Blanco knew he wanted a marquise shape from “day one” and felt the stone was a soulmate.

The duo has worked with Blanco for a few years and have a “synergy” with him that “just works,” Theofilos Claster tells Page Six Style exclusively, so when it came to creating perhaps the most important piece of jewelry, the collaboration was seamless.

“We started the project earlier this year. Benny, a wonderful creative himself, had specific inspiration, including the center cut, the marquise,” Theofilos Claster says.

“We worked closely with multiple approaches before our final ring,” she adds. “Benny had a very sharp idea of what he ultimately envisioned. We combined it with our Abril Barret sentiment to capture the essence of an heirloom piece with a modern hand.”

Fans of Gomez’s pop career immediately drew a connection between the ring and lyrics from her 2015 song “Good for You,” in which the actress sings, “I’m on my marquise diamonds / I’m a marquise diamond” before quipping in the next line, “Could even make that Tiffany jealous.”

Theofilos Claster confirms “it was a marquise on day one” for Blanco.

The shape — an elongated oval with sharp ends — dates back to the 18th century and King Louis XV, who commissioned a stone fashioned in the shape of his lover Marquise de Pompadour’s lips.

The designers tell us there are many “intimate specifics” incorporated into the bespoke design. selenagomez/Instagram

“The cut itself is art; its lines, facets, elongated shape and spread allow light to dance through every angle of the stone. It is mesmerizing. Rare and unique, the marquise is the epitome of special — romantic, timeless, antique and modern. This is the ethos of Abril Barret,” says Theofilos Claster.

In order to find the specific stone that takes center stage on Gomez’s ring, the trio of Blanco, Theofilos Claster and Theofilos worked together to find an “exceptional” piece.

“There is an inexplicable energy within every natural stone; it’s vital to ensure that its vibration, wavelength, energetic presence is in perfect harmony with the client’s,” Theofilos Claster says.

“For this project, Benny was immediately drawn to the stone he ultimately chose. Much like love, in a room full of people, you are drawn to your soulmate. This stands true in the power of a diamond,” she adds.

As for the design, Theofilos Claster tells us there are “a handful of special symbols folded into the design of the ring,” including the “intention of optimizing light.”

She concludes, “We wanted the ring to have an elegant lightness for a timeless and forever girl.”

Selena Gomez’s Marquise Engagement Ring from Benny Blanco: Details

Selena Gomez has been making headlines recently after she was spotted wearing a stunning marquise engagement ring from her boyfriend, music producer Benny Blanco. The ring is a showstopper, featuring a large marquise-cut diamond set on a delicate band.

The marquise-cut diamond is known for its elongated shape and pointed ends, giving it a unique and elegant appearance. The diamond in Selena’s ring is estimated to be around 5 carats, making it a truly impressive piece of jewelry.

The band of the ring is made of platinum, a popular choice for engagement rings due to its durability and timeless look. The setting of the diamond is simple and classic, allowing the diamond to take center stage and sparkle effortlessly on Selena’s finger.

Overall, Selena’s marquise engagement ring is a beautiful and sophisticated choice, reflecting her personal style and the love she shares with Benny Blanco. We can’t wait to see what other stunning pieces of jewelry she will be seen wearing in the future. Congratulations to the happy couple!

  • Inter Miami signs Diego Gomez’s replacement: A new lethal trio with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez?

Inter Miami signs Diego Gomez’s replacement: A new lethal trio with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez?

As the January transfer window approaches, MLS teams are gearing up for the 2025 season. Inter Miami, already active in the transfer market, has now secured a replacement for Diego Gomez. The signing looks to solidify their attack, potentially forming a lethal trio alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Paraguayan midfielder Diego Gomez quickly became one of Inter Miami’s standout players after joining, excelling both centrally and on the left wing. His impressive performances caught the attention of Brighton & Hove Albion, who signed him for a reported $15 million—a significant sale for MLS. Inter Miami wasted no time in finding his successor.

According to MLS and USMNT insider Tom Bogert, Inter Miami has signed winger Fafa Picault. The Haitian player last played at Vancouver Whitecaps, but left as a free agent at the end of the 2024 season.

Picault was one of the most coveted players in the free agency, and several clubs set their eyes on the forward. He even had advanced talks with another MLS side, Austin FC. However, as Bogert reports, family reasons turned to be the driving factor that weigh in for Picault to join Inter Miami.

Picault brings a wealth of experience to an Inter Miami squad seeking the right balance of youth and veteran leadership. Since debuting in the MLS in 2017, he has played for clubs including Philadelphia Union, FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo, Nashville SC, and Vancouver Whitecaps. Last season, he tallied 9 goals and 5 assists in 1,675 minutes, showcasing his enduring effectiveness on the field.

A new Inter Miami trio: Messi, Suarez, and Picault

With Lionel Messi orchestrating play from the right and Luis Suarez commanding the central striker position, Gomez provided balance and creativity from the left wing during his time with the team. Picault now steps into that role, offering a different skill set.

While Picault may lack Gomez’s playmaking flair, he brings much-needed speed to the left flank. As Jordi Alba‘s pace has slowed with age, and Julian Gressel isn’t as dynamic in wide positions, Picault’s ability to make long runs and score goals fills a key gap for Inter Miami.

Even at 33, Picault demonstrated in 2024 that he remains a potent attacking option. His pace and positioning could complement Messi’s playmaking instincts, as the Argentine has often excelled with quick wingers capable of exploiting space—similar to partnerships Messi fostered at Barcelona and PSG. If Picault can replicate his form from last season, Inter Miami’s attacking trio might become one of the most feared in the league.

  • Emilia Perez helmer Jacques Audiard speaks about Selena Gomez’s role in his crime comedy: Reports

Emilia Perez helmer Jacques Audiard speaks about Selena Gomez’s role in his crime comedy: Reports

Emilia Perez has been riding the waves of success since its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. During its award ceremony, the film’s central female cast marked a historic win as they all won the Best Actress award.

Selena Gomez shared this win with her talented co-stars, Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldana, and Adriana Paz.

This is her first time working with filmmaker Jacques Audiard, who is not new to the French film festival. Previously, he has won the prestigious Palme d’Or award for his 2015 film, Dheepan. Before that, his 2009 film, A Prophet, won the Grand Prize of the Jury whereas his 1996 film, A Self-Made Hero, won the Best Screenplay award. However, Emilia Perez is his first film breaking grounds in the American award circuit.

Besides Audiard being nominated for his direction and screenplay, the film has been receiving multiple nominations for its impressive acting performances. Gomez has also received multiple nominations, the most recent being at the Golden Globes.

During a recent interview, Audiard spoke about Gomez’s performance and great things to say about her commitment to her role.

Emilia Perez: Here’s what director Jacques Audiard said about Selena Gomez’s role in his film

Emilia Perez follows a moving portrait of four women in Mexico, who seek their own happiness. Gomez plays Jessi, a woman who mysteriously loses her partner after many years of marriage.

Here’s what the director said about Gomez’s performance as Jessi in Emilia Perez:

“Jessi had a whole story — a young American woman living on the border who belongs to American culture and tries and fails to slip into Mexican culture. The character I’d written in the original treatment was much harder, more cynical. Selena softened the character. She made her more moving. She’s torn because she belongs to another culture, because she loved a man who ultimately left her. She’s fragile. That was brought to this film by Selena.”
